Avoid this business. My daughter recently had 6 items tailored here. I don't think they were even altered the first time, as they were too big, so we had to take them back to have them redone. We picked the items up a second time and they were too small. Her items are ruined. The woman who made the adjustments hurried through both fittings, and as a result did a poor job. I had to pay in full up front, so it was a $245 loss. I do not recommend this business. read more

A huge thank you to Angel for custom making my birthday outfit! I found a vintage top at a flea market and thought it would be super cool to make it into a set and brought it in to see if that could happen, and Angel said yes! She gave a thorough consultation with a price quote, and was super kind throughout the process. She recommended me to bring in any tops or skirts that had a pattern I liked to make my custom set. During my fittings she was very attentive and made sure I was happy with the fit. After seeing it on I was obsessed with how it turned out and got so many compliments! I've gone to her for other alterations this past year and would definitely recommend her she's been my go-to! It was def a bonus to know she was able to make this custom set for me! Just a heads up if you are getting stretch fabric altered here: I had chosen this shop for business on two other separate occasions. I had three athletic, stretchy shirts hemmed here (dropped off on 8/16/22) along with some other repairs on shirts/tops. Unfortunately, my stretch athletic shirts all had puckered seams. I can sew, and have a sewing machine, and am aware that puckered seams are a pitfall of stretch fabrics. This is why I paid for professionals to hem them. I went in to ask about the hems today. I said although they did great work on my other clothing, I pointed out the puckering on the shirts, and politely asked if it would be possible to fix them. I believe she said something to the effect that it was inevitable when hemming stretch fabrics and that this is what I wanted. She ironed them for me and told me they were fixed. I did not feel like having an argument over 30$ of alterations so I just took the shirts and left. I felt I gave them an opportunity to make it right before I posted this review. read more

I've been coming to Chau's for a number of years. It's a great little local shop. Started by dropping off and picking up clothes for my ex. Since then, I've needed some things taken care of too. Recently bought some things that were too large (doubt my waist actually shrunk). I tried to return and exchange them, but they were on sale, so the store wouldn't take them back. Off to Chau's to get them taken in! The ladies here are always super sweet and they take their time to make sure the measurements are accurate. The work is done professionally and lightning quick too! Typically get your items back in a couple days. If you need it sooner, just ask. They're likely to take care of it for you! I previously used Chaus alterations regularly over a 4 year period .... yet when I brought a shirt in today that needed mending after I already had it mended there a couple months ago .. the lady asked me to pay for my service at drop off . mentioned prefer to pay at pick up and have done so for several years as good customer . She did not acknowledge my patronage nor honor it in any way and insisted I pay first . She had never asked this before and to be honest I was in exercise attire and I sense she was possibly discriminatory based on my attire not being business professional and maybe in her mind a person who was in sweat pants needed to pay first . It felt very edgy. I asked her if she was willing to lose a ongoing customer of 4 years who always pays at pick up and prefers this service model .. and she handed me my blouse back and said yes she has too many people who don't come back for their garment . I said im sorry yet I've never been that customer .. and have 12 things mended at her shop . she did not want to honor my patronage and wanted me to pay for other customers flakiness . I felt this was not a good business model not good customer service . She clearly demonstrated zero care for her regular customer who was polite and always appreciated my services . Zero interest in working nicely with customer and keeping her customer . It is unfortunate and of course i did not care about the money , I cared about how a shop treats their customer . Chau transformed an ill-fitting J Crew bridesmaid dress into a nice little number! As a bridesmaid in multiple weddings this year, I really need a good alterations shop. (For some reason, those dresses have the most awkward shapes.) Fortunately all Yelp signs pointed to Chau's. I dropped my dress on a Friday & it was ready to go in less than a week. Rates are fair - I had the straps shortened & the entire body taken-in on my lined faille dress for only $30. There was a bit of a hiccup with my pickup date - I was quoted a day when the shop was actually closed. However Chau was very apologetic and offered a small discount for the nuisance. I'm happy to find a good local tailor - I'll be back for sure. read more

They are really reasonably priced. I have gotten suits, pants, various articles of clothing hemmed here in the past, and have always been satisfied. Most recently, I brought my wedding dress here to be altered. It cost quite a bit, but was really reasonable considering the work that needed to be done. I had to have the bust and waist taken in, which alone was a lot of work, due to the ruching [or whatever it is] on my dress. I also needed to have it hemmed, which was also a lot of work since I had a large train and the dress had 5 layers. I would not be surprised if these alterations cost significantly more elsewhere. When they were done, the dress was perfection. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more

I had a pair of really expensive pants that needed altering. Based on the Yelp reviews, I decided to try Chau's. They have small try-on booths in the front, and then you walk out onto a little raised platform. She put in the pins so quickly I wondered how she could do a proper hem with so little information. When I picked up my pants a couple of days later, they were perfect! Very happy to have found such a good tailor... and the hem cost $8. Ya can't beat it. read more

I have been going to Chau's Alterations for over 20 years and have always been very happy with the service, the work and the turnaround time. My most recent trip this week was even beyond expectations. I brought a white faux leather jacket that was peeling off on the collar and I thought would likely need to be tossed. The ladies at Chau's removed the seam on the collar and turned the collar over so that what was the back side was now the visible front side and they replaced the damage side with beautiful white textured fabric. It looks great and I will have much more use from it. I also love that they will help to pin your hem lengths and other alterations for you. Thank you to everyone at Chau's! read more

My bridesmaids dress was almost 10 sizes to large (I am pregnant so I wanted to make sure I ordered a size that fit me at 39 weeks). Angel is absolutely the sweetest, she treats you so kindly. She takes customers in the order they arrive making sure we get the attention we need and kindly asking other to wait while she finishes up. She truly cares about you and your product and is knowledgeable with alterations so if you don't know exactly how your product need altered she will tell you. Wow! I am so impressed! I take everything here. Chau is inexpensive and does a fantastic job. I had her alter my wedding gown with just a few days notice (after it had been labored over for months by a shockingly expensive tailor). She did a perfect job! And she repeats that performance every time. I found tailor heaven, and this is it! One additional note, I recently had her hem some jeans - I asked for original hem and this is the only thing she didn't do a great job on. It was okay, but I wouldn't take anything else there for an original hem. I'm still taking everything else to her though and all that has still been great. read more

Was turned down by a different tailor shop when I sought to have the sleeves of one of my Free People thermal tees shortened and then Overcharged ($38) by another tailor who did a horrible job. So I took another tee to Chau's and Was completely surprised at the price ($12) I paid. What's even better was the quality work j received. It was just as I had expected to receive from a tailor--professional, quality work. I will definitely be returning here for all my alteration needs. I love Anne!! Her work is awesome at an unbeatable price. She has helped me with fitting suits to saving my fav pair of jeans. My latest experience was that I forgot to pick up my bridesmaid dress until 2 days before the wedding! I've taken a lot of pants and a few other items into Chau's for hemming and alterations. Jeans can often be tricky but Chau does an amazing job. She also has a sense of how short or long a pair of pants should be. Chau is always very sweet, does a great job at a very reasonable price. I read the negative review which says that they didn't hem her bridesmaid dress, just gave it back unaltered, but I can't imagine Chau doing that. First, she has very high integrity and, second, if the hem had not been done, there would still be pins in it. Chau always uses safety pins, not straight pins, so they don't fall out. I"m glad that such a reliable tailor is just down the street from me. read more
