I would have said fine to an extra $5 but not double previously charged $15. Again, as I said straight hem on knit pants. I can only assume he just didn't want to do the work. They're supposed to open at 8 AM. By 8:15 it was still not open so I called. He said he'd be there by 8:30. 8:30 came and still nothing. Called again at 8:40 but no answer so I gave up and left. So now I don't have the work done and I was late to work because of waiting for 40 minutes for no reason. I am so bummed as I haven't had an issue with his alterations until I brought in a couple dresses last week and one of my dresses got completely mutilated. I can't even wear anymore its the size of a shirt. I don't understand what happened. I told him exactly what I needed done. I needed the last section of the dress removed to shorten it just about 4 inches and he shortened it about 16 inches. It's a shirt now and I will never get it back and I absolutely loved the dress so I'm super disappointed. Won't be going back because he's super hard to communicate with. read more

Do not ever go to this place for anything! I took my husbands jeans here for two patches on the back pockets where there was starting to be some holes. When my husband brought them home he was laughing. I looked at the jeans and couldn't believe my eyes. The worst patch work I have ever seen in my life! I have attached pictures for you to see the type of work Mendez Alterations does. As you can see he used bright blue thread that doesn't come close to the color of the jeans. And the stitch work is everywhere. It looks like a toddler just stitched criss cross all over the hole that was developing. Not only are these jeans now unfixable but they look like crap. Go somewhere else! I would never trust this tailor again with a single item of ours. SO TERRIBLE!!!! read more

My fiancé needed his suit pants hemmed for our wedding at the last minute. Some friends recommended this shop, and it went about as great as it possibly could go! Leo is very experienced and talented with his work! My fiancé gave him the pant length measurement that he usually wears and Leo said there'd be no need to try them on prior to pin them, and they'd be done in 30 min! I went to Kathy's tailoring in oceanside and was shocked to hear it would cost $ 100 just to shorten the spaghetti straps and hem the bottom for a dress I would only wear once.
