Saturday evening, 1/25 about 5 pm:
(Yes, it is a long review but consider my experience BEFORE you go to BrickTop's).
Ordered 8 oz filet. Asked server how I should order to get just a trace of pink. Medium, she stated. My wife ordered the same ($28 each with one side). One table guest ordered a French dip sandwich. Orders arrived. The French dip was huge and my guest said it was very good.
The two filets we ordered were very tough and more medium rare than medium. My wife decided to try her filet. Mine was very red, almost bloody. I sent the steak back. A member of management came to the table and asked about our problem. I simply wanted my steak cooked a bit more to be pink and juicy. He didn't mention anything about my comment that both steaks were very tough.
When my steak was returned, it was burnt. And that is not a exaggeration. My table guest and wife could not believe it was served. I called the server and said I could not eat the steak and wanted to order something else. It was taken away. I ordered a French dip since one of our guest said his was very good.
When the sandwich arrived, it was half the size of the one my table guest had received. It was OK but not worth $17 and certainly not for "half a sandwich".
The manager said he would credit "my meal" and offered a free desert. We accepted the free desert and everyone at the table got a taste.
When the bill arrived, my sandwich (half sandwich) was credited as was the desert ($7). Total credit = $24. The steak, that I did not/could not eat was left on the tab at full price.
Throughout this experience, all BrickTop's staff were nice and attentive, or so I thought. In stead of pursuing this on-going saga, I paid the bill and left a nice tip for the server.
Only after we left did my wife and guests say the server "rolled her eyes when I refused the charred steak (I couldn't her behind my back). If I had, she would have received NO tip at all.
Questions: What company culture/processes allow this condition of food to be served? What about the quality of the most expensive food on the menu? Was the kitchen staff so lacks/did not care to notice the condition of the order? Is there no management quality check on returned items? Why would any server bring a returned order back to the table in that condition?
My experience concludes a very disinterested staff, from management to server to cook. All menu items are overpriced, in my opinion. Check your selection carefully when it is served and demand it be prepared the way you ordered, if not acceptable. The customer service results are awful, at all levels of staff.
There are too many very good eateries in Cool Springs, with quality food, and sincere customer service at the same or less price than BrickTop's. read more
