Walked in for a quick bite to eat...... Had not been here before so we weren't sure what to expect..... Thankfully they had open tables. Everyone before us had reserved! The first thing I noticed was we were under dressed. We swooped in from work. They were CROWDED!!! It was pretty noisy, but I expected that. For drinks, we started with a mimosa for him & LaMarca Prosecco for myself. He was not a fan of the mimosa.... For the appetizer, we chose the Deviled Eggs minus the Millionaire Bacon. It was creamy & very delicious. I did add a bit of salt & pepper, but that's why it's on the table! My entree was the Crabcake with double corn (I'm picky with veggies). My mouth is still watering just thinking about it. The top was a soft but crunchy outside. The inside was pure delight full of lump crab meat...... Literally, my mouth had an orgasm! The hubster had the steak and fries medium well! The color was perfect! It was garnished with a herb butter sauce, which I did taste & it was very good! The fries were a bit smaller than shoe string & well seasoned! The husband thoroughly enjoyed the steak!! & he doesn't normally like sauces or condiments, but he ate that herb butter sauce...... Okay, so there are many new editions to B'ham, this being one of them. The ambiance is so-so. The staff didn't seem too nice to be honest. A lot of sulking faces I felt. The food was OK. We were a party of 10. The coconut shrimp appetizer was good. I got the grouper with crab. It had an odd texture. It was bland. The sides were good, especially the mash potatoes. Everyone thought the food was so-so. Would I be back? Maybe try the lunch menu as that had more options but likely not a top choice. read more

The food here was really good, but the service was lacking. My fiancé and came to BrickTop's during their happy hour at around 4pm. We were dressed casually, but figured it was midday and wouldn't be a big deal. When we walked into the place, the bar was half full, but there was no one seated in the dining room. When we walked in and asked for a table the hostess looked us up and down and sneered. We asked to sit at a table in the bar for happy hour, and she told us there were none available ( there were 4 empty tables), but we could sit in the dining room. We were sat at a table and waited for 5 minutes until any server came. Again the dining room was completely empty. When the server finally came by, we asked for water and it took another 10 minutes for her to bring it. There were about 10 servers just standing around doing nothing, and we felt completely ignored: We tried to order a couple drinks off the happy hour menu, but were told you had to sit in the bar to order happy hour ( even though that is where we tried to sit). Eventually, this was worked out and we were brought our drinks. We ordered lobster bisque and beet salad as an appetizer, they both were amazing. We also got the New York strip and crab cakes. The strip was perfectly cooked and tender. The crab cakes were 90% crab and tasty, I felt like they could have had a bit more seasoning, but that is me being nit picky. The sautéed spinach was the best I had ever had, perfectly cooked. Magically, once we ordered all of this food, the service level took a 180 and we were given much more attention. Overall the servers seem like Wafflehouse finest slinging Perry's. Super obvious they didn't have the whole captain/team service down that you would be used to at white table cloth. Visiting Bricktops for our anniversary was a wonderful experience! This was our very first time to visit Bricktops. We were seated immediately. Our server was great and very fast. We were amazed at how fast we received our appetizer, entrees, and dessert. The food was delicious! We both got lobster bisque for appetizers. My husband got a ribeye and spinach for his entree and I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. It was the best meatloaf I've ever had! The portions were large enough that we both got take-home boxes so we could have room for dessert. For dessert, we shared the cinnamon bread pudding with caramel sauce. It was the perfect ending to a tremendous meal. Our only complaint that the meal was too fast. We were there for less than an hour. Also, it was a little loud, but overall very impressive experience. I ate at Bricktop with a group of ladies. We had reservations. I arrived before the happy hour was over so I was able to get a glass of wine from the bar for $5. The bar was packed during happy hour. They offer good prices on drinks & appetizers. The artichokes are delicious. I had a wedge salad, Bistro chicken and some wine for dinner. The house Pinot Noir was only $10 a glass. The chicken was delicious & I had sautéed spinach & asparagus as sides. There was plenty so I came home with enough for the next days lunch. Bricktop takes reservations & has valet parking. I brought my husband to this restaurant for his birthday . Where the atmosphere was beautiful . Our service from our waiter lacked in a BIG away . We ordered the calamari as a starter . The grease that they fried the calamari in was burnt and you could definitely taste it . We ask for it to be taken back . My husband enjoy his meal . My meal on the other hand was not good the first time around . I ordered the trout and the trout was burnt at the bottom . Not a great taste you want to have in your mouth from trout . Once they fix the order everything was fine . Now note I has just been here 2 weeks prior and rave about the food . The waiter we had did not pay attention to us at all . To the point I had to flag him down to refill my water and to tell him my food was not up to pare . He did have other tables but was able to assist them with no problem . My husband and I on the other hand didn't receive that great service we observe him giving others . I spoke to the manager and of course he didn't do nor fix the situation in the moment . We made a reservation for 6:00pm. We all arrived at 5:45 and still have to wait to be sat. That was the only bad thing about my visit to BrickTops. Met with some friends for dinner our reservation was at 7:15. We arrived a little early so had a drink at the bar. My choice was Meomi Pinot noir others got mixed drinks and were quite pleased. They were very busy - guessing the rain we had for several days had everyone with cabin fever lol. Our table was ready shortly, we chatted a bit ordered appetizers for the tables and all were fabulous! We sat at a round table with white table cloth, small candle burning in the center with fun bright red pepper and salt grinders (I loved the pop of color!). Our chairs were deliciously comfortable (we stayed several hours) and although it was crowded, it didn't feel crowded or noisy. Very good set up of the dining and bar areas! The lighting was low, pretty fixtures and the whole place was decorated in an elegant but comfortable way. Our choices were: crab cakes, coconut shrimp (there were only 4 but were HUGE with a wonderful spicy sauce) and artichoke dip which came with a chunky savory salsa as well. I'd order any of them again! Our server was Lauren, she was precious! So attentive and patient and always had a beautiful smile. If Yelp has 10stars- shed have it from us! Absolutely great service from her! Entrees were grill trout which was a whole open filet, grilled perfect with a light sauce drizzle and capers. It came with asparagus but Lauren said the Mac and cheese was her favorite side so went with that! The Mac and cheese was a very large (even shareable ) portion creamy and a little tangy was different than most but delicious! Two wanted the prime rib but they were out (so must be one of their best entrees I'm guessing). So one opted for the strip filet the other received another beef steak (forgot which one sorry) with loaded baked potato, Mac and cheese. One of the others got the grilled salmon with broccoli- she said it was one of the best grilled salmon she had gotten. Over all our plates were cleaned and everyone was very happy with the choices minus the fact that we couldn't get the two prime ribs we wanted because they were out. No desserts :( too full! Solid choice for a business lunch. We had 8 in our party and they really did a nice job of getting us taken care of. Sent 2 waiters to take our drink orders and meal orders. Appetizers were pretty good. I'm not a big deviled egg fan, but how can you go wrong with candied bacon with it. I got the seared Ahi tuna entree. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Upon entering the building I was greeted by everyone. The server was very nice, friendly and helpful. She was able to answer all of my questions and help me choose the perfect dish. She was very patient with me as well as my other guest. My prickly pear drink was sooo good and the server made sure to ask if I wanted a salt or sugar rim instead of assuming. I ordered the deviled eggs as my appetizer and they were so good I ordered more to go. My main dish was the salad. It had crab meat and shrimp in it. I was a bit skeptical at first but I'm so happy I went with this one because it turned out great! The only issue I had was 'one of my guest had to ask for a refill', however everything else was so good we were unbothered by this mistake. After my meal I had carrot cake for dessert and it was to die for. I hate walnut and I hate raisins but the carrot cake was so good I was able to eat it all with no problem! This review is based on my experience at the bar during happy hour. My first visit, meeting a friend shortly after 5pm. I arrived first, Uriah and Alison ( not 100% if that was her name), were the bartenders. Quickly got a beer and happy hour menu. I'm good, waiting for my friend. She shows up hungry, so we look over the menu. We ordered the wings, sliders and ribs. These are small $5 plates, two with fries. We ordered that much because of the great price. The food reflected the $5 price. Exactly what I would expect from Chili's or Applebee's. I should have known better. We didn't complain about the food. It's $5! But I expected a little better. My biggest complaint is that the service went from fine to nonexistent. Ordering another drink was almost impossible. I literally saw the female bartender look at my empty glass. I'm thinking she'll ask if I want another beer. Nope. Finally the male bartender, after I worked really hard to get his attention, asked if I needed another drink. My friends empty wine glass was apparently invisible because he didn't acknowledge that at all. She had to ask before he scurried away. At this point, a third bartender showed up. The crowd was the same level. So it's not as if they were overwhelmed. The only positives were the lovely bathrooms and easy parking. I will never go back. read more

Last night was our first in what I hope to be more great experiences with this restaurant. I can generally find some fault in some portion of the service or food but this was executed flawlessly. We began with the coconut shrimp app.They were cooked and season properly and the sauce was delightfully spiced. Moving on to the second course, we had the Caesar salad. Finely chopped, which I usually dislike, it was portioned well and left me wanting nothing more. For the main course, my wife had the 6oz Wagyu filet and loaded baked potato. This steak cut like butter and was among the best I have ever tasted. The potato; wow. Unlike many you've had in the past this hadn't been sitting in a warmer. Hate to overstate a "potato" but this could easily be a meal itself. I had the salmon with slaw and it was the best I've ever had. Perfect in every way. Skin was crispy, salmon was moist, flaky, and well seasoned. Simply amazing. For desert, we split the bread pudding. Moist and again perfectly executed. I had the baileys coffee and it easily rounded out the experience. The table service was also 5 star. Our server didn't hover but we wanted for absolutely nothing. If you're looking for dinning on the cheap, look elsewhere, however, if your wanting to spring for an excellent experience, look no further. read more
