Great food and great service for a large group of about 40 hungry Softball kids and Parents. We were in town for a full day tournament a Hynek Fields and called the restaurant to arrange our arrival in 30 minutes. Not only did Brick Stone accommodate us, but Brick Stone put us in the private room in the restaurant. The wait staff was patient with our large group. We were provided prompt drinks and refills. And, moreover, Brick Stone provided all meals so that we could promptly return back to our tournament. Now, keep in mind, it was a large group, so I sampled quite a bit of others plates.... The Roasted Brussel Sprouts were Scrum-delicious-- mixture of Sweet, Spicy, and Crispy!!! The Cobb Salad was large with plenty of meat, eggs and avocado. The Jambalaya was also large, full of meat, and well-seasoned. The Chicken Parmesan Sandwich was another winner, with great flavor.... Bottom line? I was familiar with the beer so while in Bourbonnais for a baseball tourney we thought we'd give it a try. Pretzel appetizer had no salt on the pretzel sticks...really never had pretzels without salt. But oh well...just blah nothing noteworthy. Then onto the main courses....Korean Chicken sandwich sounded good...but real poor quality chicken, extremely chewy. Bad!! My son had breaded chicken tenders and also...poor quality chicken that was chewy. He asked for Buffalo sauce which had an overwhelming taste of margarine. We also had a Buffalo chicken roll that was (get the theme)...CHEWY. Last comment, beer was ok but was not icy cold. Which is not the way I like a beer. Wasn't impressed at all. Ask for a both and we're told sorry we don't have any available. Didn't even ask if we wanted to wait for one to open. It's getting 2 stars because the bruschetta appetizer was really good. Oh and the bread they give you was good. My Wisconsin cheddar burger was nothing special. The burger and the fries came out just warm. Not hot. Oh and they forgot my grilled onions. I got my kids both the mini burgers off the kids menu. Came with 2 mini burgers each. The burgers were literally a single burger cut into 4 pieces. They couldn't even reshape the meat before cooking? Talk about corner cutting. Waiter never came back to check on us while eating. Stopped at Brickstone on the way back from Nashville. Once again we got the best food and beer ever plus the most amazing staff from our hostess Katie, our waitress Alicia, and the manager Michelle. I used to be a regular customer, dining at least weekly. Although I live only two blocks away, because of health issues the past few years, I have not been to the restaurant. Yesterday my wife and I dined there for our Father's Day celebration. The service was okay but the food was a major disappointment. My vegetable beef soup had no meat and was served almost cold. The veggie wrap I ordered was inedible. It was something drenched in some cooking oil. I could not leave quickly enough. Never again!!! read more

Unfortunately their beer is awful. I've gotten the flight before and a couple were drinkable, but most were not good. They have a great food menu and some of the best quality food in the area. While I'm happy to be moving away from IL, I will definitely miss this beer. I'd first tried their APA beer about six months prior, and with a free Saturday, I drove 90 minutes south to visit their brewery. I started sampling eight different beers. Usually when I go to a brewery, I'll find maybe two that I like and the rest of them, they're usually somewhere between passable and Pass. The Hop Skip is their double hopped APA that was so good that I got a six pack to take home. But perhaps the biggest surprise was the Cherry Bomb. I've had so many fruit beers that are just too sweet and don't have any substance to them. But this one was so so good. It has a some hops, which helps to keep it balanced. I recommend pairing this with the fried pork rinds with the spicy chile lime salt. This combination was magical. The rinds were so crispy, yet tasted light. And that salt added a great depth of flavor to the pork rinds as well. Also, I really liked the Thai lettuce wraps. It's always fun to create your own food. They brought me a plate of chopped chicken, shredded carrots, green onions, bell peppers & chow mein noodles with large leafs of romaine lettuce. On the side were three sauces: peanut, sweet red chili & sesame ginger. It was really messy, but really enjoyable. This place gets five stars because their beer is so consistently good. The one peeve I've always had with Brickstone was how it was always near impossible to hold a conversation over a meal. I must say that my Sunday experience was much improved. They actually expanded the restaurant and there's a huge dining room attached to the bar area. Since the bar area is no longer "crowded" the acoustics in the front are MUCH better and nowhere near as deafening. Since it was Bloody Mary bar on Sunday, some peeps next to us were getting buck wild, but we were still able to talk and hear each other. I love it! The food is as good as it's always been. Their baked potato soup will damage you for all other soups out there. I have tons of friends and family members that are equally obsessed. I frequently come here for an order of the soup for take out. Huge bonus, they'll give you a whole loaf of bread to go with your soup. My favorite apps (in no particular order) are the buffalo shrimp, thai lettuce wraps and the buffalo chicken wraps. I've ordered a bunch of different entrees and they are all really delicious. This last time I had the brew pub sandwich. Fricking scrumptious! It was roast beef with liquidy cheddar cheese & sauteed mushrooms and onions on a pretzel bun. Sounds simple enough but the flavors and textures mixed very well together. A huge plus too is they now have a veggie friendly menu. I was vegetarian for about a year and could never dine at Brickstone since 95% of their menu was only catered to meat lovers. I think there's only 3-4 options, but hey! It's a good start. Side note, 12/31/11 I went to their New Years Eve Party and it was one of the greatest times I've had in my life. The bartenders were so friendly and they even had a complimentary shuttle home. I went back the next morning and got my car and wished I could do it all over again. I got my "popping bottles" Yelp nickname from that party because I somehow ended up with two bottles of champagne that I carried around. Not sure why or how--it's all a big blur. I'm considering buying tickets again! $65 a person and it's worth every penny! read more

Great place for a beer and food before or after Bear's practice. A group of us stopped in before attending Bears' training camp. It was a Sunday afternoon and there wasn't a whole lot of people here. That could have been because the camp had already started practices though. Their beers were so so. There wasn't anything that really stood out for me. I don't think any of them were bad, just not amazing or memorable. The food was good. I was a bit hungover so I limited myself to some chicken tenders. The server was good. She got us everything we needed and was awesome about getting me water refills. They have a nice patio area and on a gorgeous day is a must to enjoy food and beers. read more

Looking for the brewhouse brewery experience? Then this is not the place for you. Could be any restaurant with craft beer. Since you are not at the brewhouse itself the beer could be produced by Evil Horse in Crete, IL. for all you know. Their internet site says they have tintackers but when asked they no longer have them, nor, do they have stickers. Menu looked good, for bar food, but if I wanted a steak I would go to a steak house or if I wanted pasta I would go to an Italian restaurant. If I had a choice in similar type restaurants I would choose Miller's Ale House. No Millers does not claim to be a brewery with their own labels but has a much better menu. I am sure I would enjoy this place if I was just meeting friends for a beer and snacks, however they should get rid of the "Brewery" part of their name. read more

This is one of our only upscale restaurants near our home. Perhaps that's why I am able to tire of it easily, even though we keep coming back. I've had some good dishes here and I've had some very mediocre ones. The pork flautas are possibly the best thing in the menu! However, I do think that this place could use some variance. It feels like we've had the same options for years. Maybe switching out some menu items and trying some new ones. With that being said, I've only had one bad experience here with the service. It was a random Wednesday evening and the girl was a bit new. She never cleared dirty dishes, including empty drink glasses when we ordered another drink. Now I just request Angie as our server and she never disappoints! Always on top of it, always gives me good recommendations when I need a switch up, and keeps my drink full Stratton is a great bartender and makes delicious drinks when he isn't being ultra charming (insert sarcasm here)! This is a nice, clean, contemporary, and vibrant space with a lot of their own craft brews to boot. The menu is quite large, and the craft brew selection is quite nice and more varied than I expected. We dropped in for a Sunday lunch at 11:45am and by 12:30pm, the large space was getting full and was bustling. The place reminds me of an upscaled version of a Rock Bottom, with a much better beer selection, better food, and a nicer, less boisterous venue. Wife had their avocado chicken sandwich with potato cheddar soup, son had their New Orleans style jambalaya with a French onion soup, and I had their classic 10 oz cheeseburger with a chocolate-coconut milk stout (Coconut Shadows, 6.0% ABV). The stout was a delight for $3/pint which is their Sunday Funday pricing on all of their own brews (nice!). They also have $6 off of growler fills on Sundays, and they will fill a growler purchased elsewhere. They have pint specials everyday and you can get $3 pints almost everyday. The food was quite good, though son said his jambalaya was too soupy and needed more rice. I would have gone with 5 stars except for the shortfall on that item on this day. Food prices are very reasonable and servings are generous. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, a very nice spot to hit if you're in the area. read more

We came for the Bloody Mary bar. On Sundays they run a promo where you pay for your vodka and then you can choose your own mix and garnishes. They have a lot of nice garnishes to choose from, everything from pickles and olives to shrimp and salami. My boyfriend and I like our Bloody Marys loaded with toppings so for us the Bloody Mary bar gets an A+. We also got a couple of appetizers. The buffalo chicken rolls were awesome but the loaded potato chips were just okay. Service was very friends but overall definitely on the slow side. Our waitress was attentive but it seemed to take a long time to get anything done. We will definitely will be back for Bloody Mary's and maybe next time we will try entrees. read more

Our travel baseball team stopped here in between games. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table of 25 people around noon. We had one server for all of our tables in the group and she was AMAZING! All of our food came out together, she kept the checks separate by player number and she continued to fill our drinks! I can't say enough about the service! The food was good. We had appetizers and mainly burgers and salads. I had the Brussels sprouts which were a little heavy on the balsamic, but seriously that's the worst thing I can say! This was my first visit here and I am beyond impressed. Let me start be saying that our server Nathan was phenomenal......very attentive, personable and polite. I loved the Christmas decor, the fireplace and cozy environment. The portion sizes are large and worth every penny of what you pay for them. There are tons of tv's for any sports game you want to watch. There is plenty of seating, even on game day. This restaurant is clean, there's plenty of free parking and an outdoor patio for smokers.
