I am pleased to say this establishment definitely gave total satisfaction! Good comfort food, nice service, well pleased and didn't take long for the wait. Luke was the nice guy who took my order over the phone. I ordered the country fried pork chops with the loaded mashed and Mac & cheese. Everything was surprisingly delicious. Due to it being bar food I didn't expect much and it definitely surprised me and it was the best county fried chops I've had since a youngster! You Just don't see country comfort food often AND that is GOOD! My mac & cheese was banging with all the cheesy, the mashed was so flavorful and the chops were amazingly tender. Food is always good here. But last night while waiting to be seated a older waitress came out and started yelling and being very rude to the hostess working. It was very unprofessional and it made us very uncomfortable and seem to be for hostess Felt bad for her because see seem to be doing her job. Maybe that waitress needs to find a new one. read more

I've lived in the area for over 6 years and always see Oliver's as an option on the Yelp app, but was hesitant to try as it is a "hotel restaurant/bar." Decided to try them out on a Thursday night. Waited to be seated for 10 minutes outside the restaurant. After being seated, realized several Oliver's employees previously walked past us without acknowledging us waiting at the host stand. Waited another 15 minutes at our table. We watched the couple who arrived after us get brought waters and the gentlemen who was obviously seated before us also ignored. The place was not busy, and was staffed appropriately. We walked out. We won't be back. I want to support local, but this experience was atrocious. I'm always just and fair with my reviews and ratings and generally will give a business a second opportunity to sway my opinion, but I am shocked this place has stayed open as long as it has. read more

Our server, Caroline M., she's also the bartender, offered us stellar pairings of wine with our entrées. I loved the eggplant Parmesan here and she expertly suggested Chianti to go with, she also suggested a Chardonnay or a Merlot to go with the. Chicken margarita. Hotel restaurants aren't usually high on my list but this one is nice. Food is well done midwestern cuisine. I got a country fried pork chop and mashed potatoes. My husband got the bourbon glazed pork chops and fries. Both were tasty. My mashed came "loaded" with herbs, bacon, cheese and a crunchy fried topping. I would have preferred plain mashed potatoes but didn't know I needed to ask for them. Serving sizes are large. Each of our orders included 2 chops. Nice place overall. We've been to Oliver's twice in the last week and it's quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in the area. All of the food I've tried (with exception to the queso dip, which is only okay) has been exceptionally good -- so much so that I've actually been taken aback. I used to frequent this place in my partying days for $4.00 Martini Thursdays but never actually tried the food. Of all the food items I've ordered so far, the baked mac & cheese has been the best. It oozes with cheesy goodness and could hold it's own against the "best mac and cheese ever" at Mindy's Hot Chocolate in Chicago. This one is definitely a close 2nd for the highly coveted title. We originally checked this place out as craft beer is hard to come by in this rinky-dink town. Oliver's has a handful, which is a "handful" more than every other bar and restaurant in the area. The thing I like the most about this place is the type of people here is always different each time you come. This is solely due to the fact that it's located in a hotel. Last time it was a bit of an older crowd just chilling watching the game, last night it was more of a partying crowd. You never know what to expect and I like that. Service was excellent last night and I appreciated how attentive our waitress was. Went last night with the wife and kids and was not impressed at all. The service was so slow and took forever for everything. My daughter kept complaining and asking us what was taking so long. No for the food. My fettuccini Alfredo was not good at all. The noodles were over cooked and tasted water logged. The sauce had flavor but tasted like it came out of a jar. The breadsticks that it came with had to have been microwaved. Flimsy, flat, and not good. My daughters wings were pretty good though. My wife's wrap was not impressive. Let's start with seating a family with two young girls in the gambling machine section, not exactly the family friendly atmosphere we expected. It was busy so we didn't expect to get the best service. And we didn't. Drinks took way longer than expected. When we pulled up I was afraid we made a bad choice. The is a restaurant/Sports Bar attached to a hotel. However once served it was a pleasant surprise. I started with a bowl of French Onion Soup which was really good. Typically when I order This soup it's disappointing. This was not the case. I also ordered a Roasted Turkey Wrap with Skinny Fries, the wrap was huge and had what appeared to be a pound of Turkey. Really good meal. Pricing was great. Typical bar drinks, I ordered a Bloody Mary which I believe to be made with Zing Zang couple of olives and a slice of lime, heavy handed pour with the Vodka. The folks in these parts are partial to burgers, grilled cheese, anything fried and mainly chicken tenders. So I can see why they would go here. Good option of all unhealthy food they like. The loud bartender with a Playboy bunny tattooed on her neck was somewhat annoying with loud banter. Won't sit near the bar if I ever go back. Felt like I was listening to Kathy Lee talk about her kids my entire meal. Cops were in the lobby with drug sniffing dog liking for someone as it is attached to a motel. I give this 3 stars for the simple fact that my friend enjoyed his burger and cold waffle fries and it is crowded all the time so they must like that fried food. This place is shockingly a gem. We avoided it for a long tine because how can a decent restaurant be inside a really old Quality Inn hotel? Guess what? The American comfort and bar food is homemade. The prices are hard to beat, and on top of that they offer local discounts and a loyalty program. The portions are gigantic. The service is by and large excellent. The specials are good. The cooks actually give a damn about what they do, and the staff truly gets along. I'm starting to feel like Norm Peterson, because we probably eat here twice a week. One night I decided to have dinner at the Quality Inn hotel restaurant, even though I was not a hotel guest. I generally avoid hotel eateries, as I always like to experience the local specials and flavors. I think I read about Oliver's in the Yellow Pages. Regardless, I sat at the bar and had a very decent meal at a very reasonable price. Definitely a sports bar and more upscale than the other sports bars I checked out in Kankakee. Many TVs and lots of seating. Get up near the bar to see the game, or move back into the restaurant to get some away from the crowd. I was there on a weeknight and it was quiet, but weekends could be busier. I had a very basic chicken with broccoli over rigatoni for $11.99. When the meal arrived, I was a bit surprised...the broccoli was fresh, not frozen. And everything was freshly prepared. I took some of my meal back to my hotel to eat for lunch the next day. I was not disappointed. Oliver's is a good place to kick back, watch a game or talk with friend's in peaceful surroundings. Worth another visit the next time I am in the area. read more

Ordered the same three soups that I always do and they couldn't even be bothered to exchange one of them for the right one after I drove all the way there. went here on a recent sunday to watch some NFL with an out of town friend. they have NFL sunday ticket which is always a plus. on sundays and mondays for football they offer 10 dollar domestic buckets and 65 cent boneless wings. they were some pretty large and tasty wings. i had bbq and like spicy honey or something. they passed my wing test ! i would go back for them for sure. they have other items on the game day menu but i was slacking and crying over my fantasy football loss that i forgot to take a picture of it :-( read more

Dinner here was ok. Took forever for the food to come once the app was served. Also had 3 different waitstaff, which was kind of annoying when there seemed to be someone hovering most of the time. Was just stopping by for a quick bite to eat before heading to the room. Instead I was here over an hour, for a panini, and some chicken fingers. Not impressed on flavor. If you are gonna call something honey glazed, don't put sweet n sour sauce on it, and try to pass it off as honey. Really not impressed this time around on service or food. read more
