This place is awesome. I entered the Looney Bin for the first time ever on Thursday, March 7. I drove approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Bloomington IL to see Letters From The Dead and Local H perform a show. I have seen multiple Local H shows in the past, but never at a venue this small. In addition, I had been wanting to see Letters From The Dead for a long time and finally had the chance! The intimate experience was truly amazing from the beginning all the way to the end of the show. This place is small and they bring in great music which makes it an awesome experience! Attending a show at the Looney Bin should be on everyone's bucket list! I'll be back next week to see Letters From The Dead perform again opening for J.R. Richards (original singer of Dishwalla)! Quite different atmosphere but I like it ! Very small place ,friendly staff, owner was present and making sure all was ok . We came out to see a friends band , we purchased the VIP seating , it was a nice area to get away from the general bar crowd while the band was playing , sound wasn't that good, I am not sure if they were having issues or if it always is this way , but you couldn't hear very well the singer from the Vip section . But you are up close and personal for sure !! They don't have the bbq menu anymore it's now a taco lady , and the tacos were good ! They had a assortment of items on the menu , wasn't pricey and portions were good size . Drinks were also reasonable and they seemed to have a variety of alcohol options The ceiling tiles are painted different themes and sayings , interesting again !! Parking is next to none ! You can park on the street but there isn't a ton of space . I literally didn't even see a parking lot . Overall it was a interesting experience and I would come out again if there was a band or event there I was interested in !! Looney Bin - Barbeque Near Me - Bradley, Illinois

Came here with a friend who was booked for his first show at this venue Friday Oct 2, 2015. I met the owner Nick a couple of years ago and have been meaning to make it here. I'm happy that I finally did. The staff and the regulars were all very friendly and without the attitude I'm so used to at other places outside of Chicago city limits. Nick is certainly fun. I met a a few groups of people and kind of floated around the floor most of the night. Pete played a nice long fun set that everyone seemed to enjoy and when I thought he was done we hung out at the bar and then he got up and played some more. Over the bar is nothing short of cool and prices on drinks are very reasonable. More of my kind of place than some in the city these days. I'm pretty sure they have bands every weekend and comedy shows often and have hosted the likes of Faster Pussycat, Enuff Znuff, Preston Lacey from Jackass, the "f*3k her right in the pu@*y guy", the Bullet Boys, Green Jelly.. you get the point. I'll be back back for sure. For being only an hour outside of Chicago it ws well worth the trip. read more

First timer here....the bloody Mary's are a meal! So good with a great little spicy kick to them. The Taco Lady didn't disappoint either. Tostados were awesome! The guacamole was fresh and the chips were too. We'll definitely be back!! read more

Rough crew of regulars, but very friendly. Bartenders are sometimes sarcastic, but likable overall. Not a lot of room, but enough for you and a few friends. Parking is lacking close, but plentiful if you don't mind walking a few blocks. Usually have live music on Friday and Saturday which is a huge plus. Middle of the road rating because if you can't get along with a WIDE variety of people, not the place for you. Come in, try it. If you don't like it, plenty of places within 3-6 blocks away. read more

So this place is a bar but it also has a barbecue restaurant inside of it. I took my girlfriend here to get something to eat on a Friday night.so I was going to order mac and cheese but the cook who took our order said they didn't have any mac and cheese in stock. and then I was going to order a sandwich called the big slick that had hot links in it but the cook said they no longer serve hot links. and then I was going to order hot wings but the cook said they only had boneless hot wings anymore. So I ordered chili cheese fries and to be fair the chili on the fries tasted really good. My girlfriend ordered garlic fries on the side of her brisket sandwich and she said that the fries weren't very garlicy at all and were only kind of warm. and after we ordered we had to wait like 20 minutes for our food even though we didn't order very much or anything really fancy. I also ordered a bloody Mary which To be Fair are pretty good at this place. Then when we're all finished that's when the real problem came up. The bartender told me i had to have a $10 minimum to pay with a card for our drinks, but I had also ordered over $17 worth of food. We had only ordered $6 worth of drinks. she didn't say anything about this until after we were all through and we're ready to leave and she told us that I had to order another drink in order to pay for with the card cuz I didn't have any cash or I had to go to an ATM in the facility which would have been like a $5 charge. so I guess I should have went to the ATM but I didn't want to have to deal with it so I just told her to go ahead and charge me the full $10 even though I didn't want anything more for the extra $4. This all seems kind of ridiculous and just gave me a good reason not to go here again. to sum it up, the food was decent but not great and it took forever to get to us the bloody Mary was good but this service or at least the bartender was not friendly at all. The cook was pretty friendly but I thought that was kind of annoying that he kept telling me I couldn't order what I wanted to order because it was no longer on the menu, so it would only make sense to just print new menus. we also could have avoided this whole debacle if she had just told us up front about the $10 minimum and then we wouldn't have ordered any drinks we would have only gotten food. read more

Love the music here. They get some great bands in here. I purchased VIP tickets and the sound is not worth the extra money. The audio in the VIP section is not very good but in the regular bar area is rocks. I will definitely visit this place again. read more

At first I really liked this place. GREAT BBQ, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. However, later on during our visit the presence of an apparent regular wearing a t-shirt with Adolf Hitler and a swastika, along with a hat that said f*ck off, made me much less happy to be there. While he was outside, he dared anyone to have a problem with it. He was hugged by the owner, so apparently they were cool with it. I was not. Fascism is not acceptable. Too bad, because the food is great. read more

Great establishment and entertainment. Goes above and beyond any other local bar for live acts. However, there's a guy named Earl that hangs out there, and he may or may not have the clap. read more
