Eating inside is hard because there's not a whole lot of tables and it's pretty boring. Take it back home and enjoy it s lot more. I came in to munch on something while doing some work and got a few cheap items. Many choices other than just tacos and the common stuff. There's also gyros of all things. Good authentic quality seems to be in the food. Unfortunately there's not much vegetarian. A lot of meaty choices. The tacos include fillings such as seafood and tongue. Also they have Mexican drinks. They have Jarritos in several flavors such as guava. It's $2 for a bottle. They have chips and guacamole. It's $6.25 for an appetizer. This has pretty hot spice. This is my second time to Dos Amigos in Kankakee. I have not been disappointed either time! Today I had fish tacos and they were sublime. I've had fish tacos in this region before, and I've always been disappointed. However, Dos Amigos provides the freshest food I've had with an authentic taste of Mexico added. They handmake their salsa and chips every single day. The fish in their tacos is tilapia, slightly breaded and crunchy, yet soft and firm. I should have taken a picture, but I devoured them so quick ! I highly recommend this restaurant. Dos Amigos has a lot of other types of food besides Mexican; they have pizza, puffs, hotdogs, a poor boy meal plus spaghetti. But they offer the best Mexican fare! read more

This place is fantastic. We had pastor, chorizo, steak, shrimp, chicken, birria and carnitas tacos. All were delicious with a slight edge to the favorites of chorizo and carnitas. The owner is friendly and personable. The young man working the counter went above and beyond. We decided to place a to-go order for lunch tomorrow and asked him to separate it into different bags for each of us. He not only did that, but also wrote on each individually wrapped item and on the bags so we knew the contents. Their homemade salsas and avocado sauce are excellent. Dive-like tiny place with Mexican soap operas and no credit cards (but an old-style ATM in case you forgot you cash). Don't eat here, get it for take-out. B/c the food is great. And crazy cheap. Chile relleno taco, steak taco, great tortas (Mexican burger type dish), everything we've tried has been quite good. And always grab a cheese quesadilla with whatever you order. They're like $1.50, and the taste transcends the ingredients somehow. My wife will range outside of Mexican food and order gyros and our kids grab the usual kid-fare: pizza slices or chicken and fries. I wouldn't go there, but they all say it's good. read more

I've gotten food at Dos Amigos three times now. It's always been good and they are very accommodating. Food is made fresh to order and if you don't see a traditional Mexican dish on the menu, just ask. For example, they made a chimichanga for me- that's what's in the picture. Had to try this place after my brother kept talking about how great the steak burrito was and was real cheap too. I got a steak burrito and it was real good just like he said and the size of it was HUGE! Definitely the biggest and best burrito I've had in the area. Came in for a pastor torta and lengua taco. The lengua was cooked well and the taco was good overall. The torta was pretty miserable. The bread was stale and the pastor tasted like ground pork with tomato paste on it. Would come back for tacos. read more

Disappointing I'm from Phoenix and know what authentic Mexican food is. Had the beef fajitas and it was grilled steak and vegetables had no flavor. Guess that's what people in this area favor which explains a lot yuck! Refried beans were awesome and had flavor with the correct amount of kick to it. The portion amount was good.
