I've gone several times with my husband and friends, and the food and service have always been acceptable. Today I ordered the Pastrami Reuben sandwich and it was awful! The sandwich was so dry I kept having to take sips of water with every bite. The pastrami was piled on meagerly and was hard and also dry. I didn't even see any sauerkraut even though it was supposed to have been on there. It was all in all, not a good experience. Excellent lunch experience! Bricks is well located on Main Street in charming downtown Placerville. It has an expansive dining and bar area and was clean as a pin. It was quite busy for lunch on a Friday but we were quickly seated. Our server was great - friendly, knowledgeable and kept a close watch on us throughout our meal. I love their French onion soup which has deep flavors and perfectly caramelized onions. Sweetie tasted it and remarked that it was not over salted like so many restaurants. I then moved on to fish and chips which featured four nice beer-battered fillets, excellent fresh cut fries and a fantastic and complex homemade slaw. Sweetie had the fried green tomatoes which are billed as a small plate but are anything but small. She also had a side order of grilled shrimp. The FGTs were excellent and tasted very fresh and the sauce was excellent as well. Shrimp were plump and nicely grilled on the burger grill which gave them a great grilled flavor. Bricks was recommended to us by a winery we had visited. Old Town Placerville. We were seated immediately with our menus. Server came by with water pretty quickly. We ordered a Beet Goat Cheese salad, panko crusted fried green tomatoes over grits and an ahi tuna lettuce wrap, all to share. The salad was fabulous. Whatever the dressing was, it didn't over power the greens. The fried green tomatoes were ok. The grits kind of ruined the flavor of the tomatoes. If I ordered this again, I would ask to not have the grits included. The Ahi Tuna wrap was not what we expected at all. Thought we would have some nice ahi wrapped in small lettuce leaves with all the veggies that goes with something like this. The pineapple salsa was delicious. We got three huge helpings of ahi tuna....too much. We were never able to pick it up and eat it like a lettuce wrap. The tuna was good, but we ended up not being able to eat this huge serving and we felt bad so much would be thrown out. Would probably not order this again. We stopped here on our way home from Lake Tahoe. We'd had an additional 1.5 hours added to our drive due to a massive boulder on highway 50 so by the time we arrived in Placerville, our family was hungry! Atmosphere: I love the brick walls and the decor. There are several beautiful pictures throughout the restaurant of Placerville. My 5 year old said, "Hey, those pictures are of this place!". Service: great! We were seated immediately and orders taken quickly. Our drinks and food came out without too long of a wait. My daughter's dinner came with garlic cheese bread which unfortunately she does not like cheese. Our server quickly remedied the situation and brought out a piece of buttered toast which my child enjoyed. Food: I had the cheeseburger with fries. The burger was cooked just the way I had ordered it (med/well) and the fries were yummy. My husband ordered the ribs which he said were not bad considering they weren't barbecued. Our five year old really liked the ribs. She didn't touch her kid's tenders but I think it was because she preferred the ribs. We both had the brown ale which hit the spot! Stopped for lunch yesterday (Tues)about 1pm. Parking on the street was easy, not the case on summer weekends. On Main street and seating is available in the bar area or dining (windows facing the street) I had Darcy Burger, blue cheese, bacon, fried onions, avocado,hot sauce, brioche bun. Not the best burger, the hot sauce overwhelmed the assembly. Side salad with blue cheese was good. The Mrs had a Vegetarian sandwich,Dutch crunch, cucumber, Havarti, lettuce, tomatoes, special sauce. I've heard great things about this place. So I figure try it. Hostess wasn't particularly friendly. Bar tender was good. Asked her to surprise me with something non-carbonated and sweet. She nailed it with a Mai Tai. The happy hour pot stickers taste exactly like the bag for get from Grocery Outlet but you don't get the whole bag for 10 bucks. You get 5. lol It was slightly busy but loud as hell! Casual place. I like casual. And way more classy than the tweakers at Liars Bench! First off I do wanna say that the customer service was top notch A-1 idk our waitress name but she was excellent, always had a smile talked to us in a very welcoming way and gave us great service. I ordered the pastrami burger, my wife ordered the Santa fe turkey sandwich and my daughter got the chicken strip and fries. The burger was ok i really couldn't taste the pastrami, my bun was really soggy and I had ordered my burger medium rare but it looked well done. The patty didn't taste like it was seasoned. The fries were good, our waitress did bring us ranch. My wife loved her sandwich but, if she liked it so much she can do her own review THIS IS MY REVIEW! Lol she dont yelp so ehhh. I wouldn't mind coming back and giving this place another try. I did pay 20 bucks for the burger so I kinda expected a lil more bang for my bite! My daughter didnt eat her chicken strips. This place has a nice selection of beers and food! The big downside is their fast pass system. We were just about to sit and someone with a fast pass announced he had a fast pass so we awkwardly just stood there as they took our seats. No verification needed. Pretty dumb to be honest. This was on a Friday night. Their website even said that fast passes aren't being accepted so no reason to call to get a fast pass. Anyways, the food is worth it. The loaded tots and the one pound wings were great! The wings were cooked perfectly, fall off the bone, so good. The burger was not bad, got the Darcy burger, the half pound patty was a bit dry for some reason for a medium rare. Fries were nice, with some random onion rings in them. Got their hazy ipa which was soooo smooth and not bitter. The waiter was super on top of everything and quick. Stop by so many times to top off drinks. Good vibes. I can recommend with with a few reservations. After an afternoon in Apple Hill, our party of 7 decided on dinner at Bricks. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming and comfy. We started with the loaded tater tots which all of us loved but our dinners were a let down. My 10 year old nephew, who ordered the kid's burger enjoyed his dinner and had no complaints. My husband ordered the Jambalaya and thought it was just okay. My daughter ordered the Filet Mignon and thought the steak itself was good but the bearnaise sauce was excessively sweet. My parents split the Ribeye and proclaimed it was the most grizzly steak they'd ever tried to eat. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and wasn't impressed. The gravy itself had the texture and mouth feel of melted American cheese slices, that gluey, kind of plastic-y texture and really didn't taste like anything. The meatloaf itself was under seasoned and tough. We ordered two desserts; the red velvet cake, which I didn't try but heard no complaints from those that did. I ordered the white chocolate and coconut mousse drizzled with chocolate port and loved it. I'm willing to give them another chance as the burgers and salads that went by looked great. Perhaps if we had stuck to soup/salad and burgers we'd have had a different experience. However, the gravy on the meatloaf and the bearnaise sauce on my daughter's steak leads me to not recommend anything with gravy or sauces that might require skill in building. I find it hard to believe that a chef would send anything like what we had out of a kitchen with a straight face. They need to go back to the drawing board with their sauce/gravy making. read more

After another 25 minutes we got our food. My husband liked his Reuben. However the French onion soup I ordered was watered down and lacked flavor. It tasted like they boiled onions in water and a beef bouillon cube. I would give the soup a 1, the Reuben a 4, and the dip a 3. The service was a 1 as well. My water was empty for most of the visit. Loved Bricks food prior to today! So disappointed in the food we ordered. Appetizer - Garlic bread - opened bread put cheese on it and gave to us. Not even a little warm. We ordered 2 New York Steaks with mushrooms and onions. Onions not cooked and steak full of fat. The Augratin potatoes were cold. Visited this place while visiting Placerville for the day. The Yelpers got it right! This place had one of the best burgers if not the best I have ever eaten! I had the El Paso the server recommended and wow! Simply blown away by the flavor and taste of the burger. It was a packed restaurant on a Saturday evening but the service was still on point and great and no issues. The ambiance is local bar/restaurant with locals and and tourists alike. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a big juicy burger with great flavor! I will definitely be back and if you are looking for a good burger in this area, this is a MUST EAT place !!! Came in for dinner after a day adventuring in the high Sierra's. Service was very good, decor was attractive, food was amazing! I had the cavatapi pasta. The chicken in it was perfect. Instead of a few large pieces just placed on top, it was sliced thinner and mixed in so that it also had the flavors of the wonderful sauce. I personally hate when a dish includes bacon, and the bacon is just tiny hard bits. The bacon was perfect in this! The garlic cheese bread was plentiful, and I had dinner last night, lunch today, and still some left over. As an artichoke liver, I'd have liked a few more of those.
