Came here for lunch last Sunday before Christmas. They had great reviews on Yelp so that aided in our decision. We walked in and they were busy, but it only took a few minutes to get a booth cleared for our family of 3. They have a stack of coloring books and cups of crayons that you can help yourself to in the front for kids, or bored adults. We grabbed a couple for my son and I. Great assortment of beers on tap too that I'll have to come back and try. We ordered stuffed jalapenos for an appetizer. They were halved fresh jalapenos filled with a mix of bacon and spinach artichoke dip and then baked. Super yummy if you like a little spice. My boyfriend ordered a Bloody Mary and I think it was the "Southwestern" Burger or something, it had bacon, bbq sauce and fried onions. It was huge, he took home half and said it was delicious. I ordered the fish and chips. The order came with 4 large pieces of fish that were perfect. Crispy, hot and not caked in batter. The fires that came with were thick cut, seasoned and fried to perfection. It came with a kale-cabbage-slaw that was tart, crunchy and fresh and had a bit of a asian/sesame oil touch to it. Good! We ordered our son pasta with butter and cheese, it came with cheesy garlic bread and was just okay. He ate mostly my fish and chips which was fine with me because I had such a big serving! There were lots of other things that looked super tasty, maybe for dinner out though since the items seemed a little pricey for lunch, although the burgers/sandwiches/salads/burgers/smallplates are good lunch prices. Solid 3.5. I came in on a saturday for lunch with my mom while visiting town. The service was good, but busy and the food was good. The decor was interesting, but the TV distracting. I liked all the pictures around with scenes of the area, the colors and effects reminded me of washed-out portland. The bar area looked inviting, and the exposed brick added warmth to the space. We wanted a smaller lunch, and they had many options. My mom had the spinach cheese dip and really liked it. Apparently they use parm and mozzarella, so she might add that to her recipe. I had some Italian white bean soup and baked sweet potatoes. The soup was thicker than I was expecting, and the sausage was spicy, making everything a little too hot for me. I liked the way the potatoes were cooked, just tender with salt and crisp on the outside. The service was good, water filled and meals out quick. Our server was busy, so not sure what I was expecting, but left wanting more. We thought it was a bit pricey, but this is up in the foothills. Someone paid for our dinner and it couldn't have come at a better time. I recently received some discouraging news and we felt like this unexpected kind gesture was a sign that there it's still hope/good out there. Serenity was our server she was very pleasant and attentive(especially considering how busy this place was). I give Serenity 5 stars as well great personality and recommendations! The food she served us was amazingly delicious and flavorful! I ordered a shrimp, veggies, and rice dish with a cream sauce AMAZING! We thought we'd give Bricks a try passing through on our road trip. We ordered fish 'n chips and caesar salad (no chicken requested) to-go for health & safety reasons. We took the food back to our hotel. No utensils, chicken on the small amount of caesar salad ( not enough to fill the container), and no tartar sauce and/or malt, no ketchup. The food was good; it was plain, and we were disappointed to find the missing items which were needed for a complete meal. I don't want to give a 1 star, but it would be nice if whoever puts the orders together to be more detail oriented. Remember, there are travelers tired and hungry. So glad this place is still open for takeout during the pandemic. My husband ordered the Darcy Burger, I ordered the Frisco (sub beyond patty), both of my kids got the white pasta from the kids menu and to drink i got the BlackBerry Jalapeño Margarita and my husband ordered the Strawberry Fields. We came from South Sacramento so they held our order before making it until we got closer. The lady who took my order was very friendly and so was the lady who gave me my food (not sure if they were the same person) but pleasant experiences both times. They took payment over the phone but i had the option to pay at pick up. I forgot to ask for no bacon on my Frisco but they were smart enough to put it on the side and my kids ate it so nothing went wasted. The food was so tasty and the drinks OMG! We stopped in for lunch. It seemed like the best place for lunch for the family., since many cute places here are a bit small for a high chair. We were seated right away. Very clean, great art decor on the walls and just casual enough to watch a game on the tv at the bar. Crab cake sandwich was good. Not greasy and too much filler, just enough crab. Dutch crunch bread was a good bread of choice for this sandwich. This place lost a star because our meal did take pretty long, considering we were looking for a nice lunch and passing through. We didn't expect fast food service, but it did take too long to get our meal. My moms garlic bread was yummy but could have used a marinara dip. Recommend the sweet potato planks,they seemed fresh homemade, using white sweet potato instead of the yammy orange ones. Next time I would try the burger. I had bad vibes here at first because the place was empty, but then I realized they had just opened. Literally within ten minutes of being seated, the place was packed and people were waiting to get in. The wait staff was really nice and very attentive with drinks and other requests. Mom and I shared the Blackened Salmon BLTA with fries and the Grilled Cheese & Fried Green Tomato sandwich with french onion soup. The soup was decent, though very salty. The cheese was perfectly crusted on top and their cup was a decent-sized portion. The fries were also tasty, though not cooked to my personal preference. The salmon was cooked perfectly and not fishy at all, but the sandwich itself lacked a kick. I added a side of chipotle sauce, which did the trick. There is a hidden mustard or something similar in the sauce which made it delightfully unusual. The bacon on the sandwich, was also cooked perfectly. My favorite, however was the grilled cheese. What really made this sandwich were the fried green tomatoes. The breading for the tomatoes tasted like onion rings and really hit the spot. read more

Brick's was our second choice for dinner, but if we knew how good it was going to be from the beginning, it would have been number one. It was dinner time, the restaurant was packed, yet they had no trouble seating our group of two right away. The wait staff worked as a team. Our main server was helped out by another waitress, who I watched as she went around bringing food, bussing tables, and making sure everyone was happy. They have an amazing looking menu, including a pretty awesome looking burger section. But, if you go all the way to the back, in the sandwiches, you will find the Fried Green Tomato Grilled Cheese. Three types of cheese (Jack, Gouda, Cheddar), and fried green tomatoes apparently make the most amazing combination. The sandwich wasn't huge, but with this much flavor it didn't need to be. It was served with fries, and they were very crispy and well seasoned. We shared a plate of brussel sprouts, which was pretty big, and they were cooked well. We came here for Father's Day to have lunch. It has literally been years since I have been in Placerville, but I really enjoyed the "old town" feel. We looked up a good place to eat on Yelp, and Brick's came with a high rating, one of the highlighted reviews said something about how it was one of the best meals she had ever had...no pressure. I liked the ambiance of the place. This dining room offered lots of fresh outside sunlight that illuminated the room. The furniture and colors were really stylish and gave you that kind of modern brewery feel, they listed their beers on chalk boards that separated the bar area form the dining area. We were seated and immediately attended too, they have a children's menu and a huge selection of lunch and dinner options. I was impressed at the selection of seafood, sandwiches, main courses and burgers. We ordered an appetizer of their wings and had them served half sweet and half spicy so we could share with the kiddos. These were delightful, served piping hot and a crispy skin with juicy centers and a perfect amount of sauce. For lunch I had one of my fall back, all-time favorites the French Dip, this can propose a slight problem when writing reviews for Yelp because I literally have ordered thousands of these sammies. Brick's serves theirs traditionally, which I appreciate. I don't like my French Dip's served with cheese, if I wanted cheese I would order a Philly Cheese Steak or the like. So theirs didn't have any cheese, plus there. The beef was thinly sliced and not dry, and it was served on a dutch-crust roll, I HATE dutch-crust if the bread is anything shy of super fresh, and theirs was SUPER fresh..the aus ju was a dark brown and super beefy in flavor; over all the sandwich was good, it was simple and true to style but it didn't blow me away. My husband ordered their Bo Peep burger; it was HUGE in size and served with onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce on the side. I am a huge fan of Greek food and was anxious to have a bite of this burger...the tzatziki sauce was delicately flavored and delicious! I took a bite of the burger and it tasted and smelled of mutton lamb. We have raised lamb before and when we eat lamb at home, they are always younger in age. I had a difficult time with the stronger flavor of the lamb meat in the burger, but my husband loved it...so I guess if you like younger tasting lamb, this may not be the burger for you. But all in all it was a killer idea for a burger! The kids meals were large in size for a children's menu option, my daughter had chicken strips with fries and my son had pasta served with marinara sauce, both were good. another great spot to eat if you're "up the hill" in El Dorado County. We spent this last weekend there. We'd been in Sly Park hiking and were ready for a cool drink and a nosh. We'd eaten at Brick's once years ago with friends and enjoyed it, so back we went. We shared the coconut lime tacos w/pineapple salsa and the calamari. Both were perfect; tacos were fresh & tasty, just the right amount of spicy, pineapples were just the right amount of zing. The calamari was tender, breading was crispy and not at all oily. They have a really nice selection of craft brews and a good wine list. Being restaurant wait staff is never easy and is even more challenging right now with masks & social distancing. My sister and I split the beet and goat cheese salad and pineapple burger. The salad was amazing and sooo good but the burger did not have much seasoning. The caesar salad was ok; I liked the addition of kale to the romaine. However it was a bit heavy on the dressing and cheese. My partner's Mario burger was better, but not anything special. I have mixed feeling about bricks, I have never been wowed by their food but everyone Ive ever gone with says theirs is amazing. I like the atmosphere, it's pretty low key but still nice. The sweet potato fries are always great so I make sure there's an order every time we go. The prices are average for a place on main st. Maybe a little cheaper since it's more of a pub than an upscale restaurant. The service is always great, friendly, quick, and helpful. The restaurant and bathrooms are always clean so even though I haven't been blown away by the food yet, I'll still return because all in all it's a great local spot. read more

They were on the heavy side and they have generous portions. The dishes we order just didn't stand out to me and the cook on the pasta could be more al-dente. Overall, the food was ok.
