Small place with a small kitchen and a good menu. Pastas were very nice. But the service was very rushed almost to the point of pushing us out of the place. They have a terrible music selection especially for an Italian place (there is a lot of great music from Italy, including very recent releases, they could have selected great choices from that rich abundance). Van Halen and Bon Jovi are weird in that setting. Also weird is that they have cans of non-alcoholic beverages that are available in any bodega. No Italian or Sicilian sodas or flavored sparkling water. And no espresso, which was unbelievable for an Italian restaurant in NYC. Forget tea or even a nice pour over. Possibly the best pasta I've ever had. A group of my friends and I finished our meals with absolutely no crumbs leftover. It was a very cold night but we sat outdoors under the heated lamps sipping on our wine, which made the experience even better. Our waitress was so so sweet and I recommend this place to anyone around midtown. I would've taken pictures of the pasta but we devoured it so fast. This is my third time coming to this restaurant, first review. I've sat in the outside area a couple times which is great, this time sat in the inside at the long table. It's basically a long table and you're sitting right next to a different group but we came pretty early so we didn't feel cramped. For the food -- one of my favorites is the mango, arugula and goat cheese salad it's so fresh! All of the pastas are good, some of our favorites are the mushroom risotto, mac and cheese and penne pesto w artichoke. There's a lot of meat options but no chicken option fyi. My recent trip to Briciola was actually my 2nd. My first visit here was when I was in town for a show and my friend who lived in the area told me to meet him there for post-show carbs. Their subway tile bar stood out in my mind and when we were thinking of a place to go on our most recent trip, I thought to come back here. I think the food is all around pretty great. Briciola really provides a satisfying dinner. My friend suggested we came here for dinner with a group of four and I am so glad he did. We arrived around 7 PM on a Saturday night. It was originally just my friend and I who had arrived first and the hostess would not seat us nor tell us an estimate about how long the wait would be for a party of four until everyone had arrived. The hostess was a bit more curt and did not give a very warm feeling. However, after the rest of our party arrived, she gave us a pretty reasonable wait time and we were able to sit down at the bar within 20 minutes which is not a bad considering it was prime dinner time on a Saturday in Hell's Kitchen without a reservation. Once we were seated we were given our menus right away. We had our orders taken and decided to choose the: --PAPPARDELLE WITH WILD BOAR: Wow this dish truly blew me away. That wild boar stew was really delicious and mixed together with a perfectly cooked pappardelle really made a wonderful dish. This is definitely something you should try if you come to the restaurant. --SLOW COOKED PORK RIBS: Kind of average. Good meat and sauce and the potatoes worked well but did not truly wow me. --CRAB AND SHRIMP CAKES: Really delicious and a great side dish for our dinner. --BROCCOLINI: Just ok - a bit on the oilier side but helped to cut down on all of the meat that we had ordered. --LOBSTER AND AVOCADO SALAD: A surprisingly delicious salad. They had a lot of large chunked lobster and avocado which worked well together with all the greens. We also got a side of complimentary bread which was ok, the flavor was average but it was cold and would have been better if it was warm. Love this spot, especially for lunch. Come here for their pasta lunch special which includes a glass of house wine for $18. Can't beat that. There's no tables, just the bar and a communal high table. The vibe is cozy and chill. I'm actually shocked to realize that I've never reviewed them before but they're tried and true, and consistent. The lamb chops and meatballs are delicious. I am a huge fan of the wild boar, tortellini, and the gnocchi. But generally everything has been delicious. And here's a pro tip, if these guys are packed, just walk across the street to their sister restaurant Aria. They have the exact same menu. Highly recommend. Food was sub par. The pasta was way over cooked to the point of soggy (orrechiette) . Honestly save yourself the cost and just boil some pasta at home. You can't do worse. The burrata caprese was so delish. The entrees were also super tasty (went with a big group) I got the penne pesto dish as did another, someone got a spicy shrimp dish and another the salmon pasta. All in all, such a delish meal. The wait staff could probably use a lighter summer uniform though (they had suspenders and long sleeves they could roll up), felt bad it was such a hot day! I was disappointed in this place , given all the reviews. I came alone, and the service of my waitress was not great. I had been sitting for over 15 minutes and the waitress did not acknowledge me at all. I looked at her to try to let her know I was ready to order but she continued to ignore me. Then I noticed someone who was sat after me was being helped so I asked if I could put my order in. When the waitress came, she just asked me what I wanted and not the typical recommendation giving type service. The waitress we had was lovely. Friendly and charming. But the wine wasn't very good (I tried a few) and the food was very disappointing. I went a few years ago and thought the same thing back then. But that was over during the pandemic, when it was outside and people were figuring things out, so I was more willing to give a pass, but it seems the menu is just not very good. There are better time bars and Italian places in the neighborhood. In terms of ambience, it's a small space, but the setup wasn't especially inviting. I decided to add some chili flakes, and it elevated the dish a lot more. The pasta was chewy and firm. The filling was divine, and I can taste the lobster in it. I think the highlight was the cream sauce. A friend and I stopped by after a show and were accommodated with an outdoor table, though reservations are recommended, particularly if you want a spot under the outdoor heat lamps. Wheelchair access: The outdoor patio is flush with the sidewalk, though tables are packed super tight together. The outdoor seating is nice and the staff is very friendly. There was only one waitress serving a bunch of people which made it hard to get her attention, but not to her fault. We got the fettuccine ai funghi and penne pesto e carciofi, both were very tasty but the fettucine was a little bland. I didn't end up finishing it and add to doctor it up with some salt, pepper and chili flakes to make it tastier the next day. Also when I was eating I noticed some weird stick looking thing in my fettuci and it took the waitress like 10 minutes to get back to me of what it was (I think she said it was rosemary or something that fell in by accident, but it didn't look like it) and by that time my food had gotten cold. For the appetizers, we shared the buratta with prosciutto and their Shrimp Scampi - both were delicious! Also enjoyed their fresh bread. Is a very small place. The indoor seating is a long shared table in one side and a few bar stools on the other. Outside seating has tables for 4/6 groups. Quiet (when we went it was not busy at all), neat and clean place with very fair prices, located close to the theater district. Very fast and very friendly service. It was great. We got the burrata prosciutto wrap starter special and it was fantastic. Fresh and tasty. Then tried the steak special and their tagliatelle bolognese. We tend to like well seasoned dishes, and with that perspective I can say the seasoning was lacking. Had to get salt and pepper to enjoy the meal. My husband abd I have been to Briciola before. It was wonderful. But we will never come back after last night. It is embarrassing that we brought a dear friend who was in town for the week, to this restaurant and had one of the worst dining experiences. First off, please tell the employees to use deodorant. No one wants to smell body odor while eating, especially in such a small place. Two, I don't know what they ran out of in the kitchen, but the bits and pieces we could decipher was that something was needed from a store for the soup. Discuss in away from the guests. Then having an employee come out of the bathroom and start touching food we're about to eat was all kinds of wrong. My husband was ready to walk then. But I convinced him to stay. I ordered oysters. One reason I cane there. They were rotten and vile. And it's the only time I've ever not eaten most oysters on my plate. I am addicted to oysters. I had two or three and asked the waiter to take them away. They smelled rotten. They tasted rotten. Two of them were cracked, and missing parts the front of the shell. And, a good waiter/restaurant would have taken them off the check. But, they didn't. Abd we weren't going to make a big deal in front of our guest. The cauliflower soup was like dishwater, which is probably from the person who cane out of the bathroom abd then started touching the food. The octopus salad was like eating burned rubber tire. And I believe our friend, who met my husband when they were in culinary school together, said of his tortellini that it tasted "like frozen macaroni you'd buy at the supermarket." We couldn't get out of there fast enough to go find somewhere to go for dessert, which is what we were looking forward to the most. I will say this: The woman and her date just down from us were popping oxytocin (they were quite vocal about it, among other things) while have several drinks. I'm starting to think they were on to something, cause I think that's what is needed to get through a meal here. Seriously, the first time we fell in love with this restaurant.
