This is THE place to eat in Hernando Beach. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. We have been here for a month and have had 4 delicious meals here. BIG shout out to Dale - what an outstanding waiter. Would recommend the crab encrusted filet, the ribeye steak, Marsala penne pasta with chicken, chicken breast with fresh mozzarella. The coconut shrimp appetizer is fabulous! The cocktails are unique and memorable. Smoked Buffalo with Buffalo trace bourbon was fabulous. Recommend reservations - easy to do on line and no wait. Ate here last night and the food was kind of hit or miss. My Caesar salad came with very wet greens, so wet that the dressing barely adhered, which is a problem. The spinach salad was delicious. The adobo shrimp skewer was way over cooked and the shrimp tasted as though they were coated in an acrid burnt seasoning - so salty! The tuna ceviche was inedible, completely submerged in an absolute pool of lime juice and irregularly chopped pieces of tuna, onions and peppers. It must've sat in the acidic lime juice for hours as it was completely "cooked". The texture was really off putting. The Cuban pork crostini had zero flavor - not a trace of the promised Cuban spices. So disappointing. Here's a tip for the chef - a crostini is a thinly sliced piece of bread, usually rubbed with garlic, brushed with olive oil and either grilled or toasted. The 2 inch thick slices of French bread - again, sliced so sloppily and irregularly - served with the appetizers above are not crostini. Service was professional and friendly, my cucumber martini was very refreshing, and I appreciate them removing the tuna ceviche from our bill. read more

Drinks were good. Appetizers were really well done. Had the Cuban bread with pork and bbq sauce on it. Had caprice salad and the mozzarella was really fresh. Had the manchego cheese chicken with plantain bananas and Cuban rice. Was really good. Presentation was 5 star. Food quality was very good, chicken a little dry on ends but middle was perfect. Wife had crispy salmon with adobe potato's and green beans, beans could have used another minute or two cooking but overall, it was a fine meal. Staff was very attentive and on the job as if to say. Brian's place is an absolute hidden gem in the hernando beach area. I loved everything about this restaurant. They do an early dinner 3 course special that is absolutely worth it! Absolutely fantastic amazing fish !! A friend invited us to dinner who owns a dive shop and told me one of his customers who is a commercial spear fisherman who supplies them with local fish. Well I was in right there. We had local grouper and salmon entrees and yellow tail appetizers, not only was the fish absolutely fresh and seasoned properly it was cooked to perfection. I brought my parents here for there 40th wedding anniversary. I am sorry to say that the only part of the dinner that was good was the food and the music. While waiting for our table we put an order on at the bar. We were then guided to our table. We let the bar tender and our hostess know. She said she would let the server know. It took about 10 mins to have the server greet our table. We let her know we had drinks at the bar. It took 10 more minutes to get the drinks our frozen drink was melted. She also then let us know we had to wait for water as they had no more water glasses. By this time the table that sat after us had already received there drinks and put their meal order in, We then put our meal order in. Got our salads and had to wait about 10 mins for the waitress to show up to ask for forks. The meals showed about 35 mins later, my dads steak was slightly warm, did not want to complain as we did not know how long it would take to get back. After eating it took us asking another server for our bill. Our server came back another 20 mins later. Then my husband realized the bill was wrong took another long time to fix the bill. Since my journey into social media I have reconnected with some old friends, Brian I have known since high school. He's a great guy and I found out he has a restaurant. So off I go into parts unknown(why would I go to hernando beach, clearwater is right there) and there I was. I was seated immediately and asked for the chef. I explained who I was and she happily walked off to get Brian. We chatted, caught up, and I asked what's good. He showed me the colored choices on the menu and that's what i got. Tostones with crab, and the signature grouper with plantain 3 ways. Growing up in Tampa I have lived my whole Life with easy access to amazing Cuban food, Ybor city. So I was stoked he has a Cuban American restaurant. I got the Smoked 17 for a libation and it was just as good as any old fashioned variant. The tostones show up and they are delicious, I might have burned my tongue because i couldn't stop. The grouper came and it was like an art piece in downtown, beautiful. I love when chefs take the time to make the food visually pleasing. Anyone can slop some mash on a plate and sprinkle parsley. The meal was great, the prices were amazing for what i got and yes I'm going back to try his ribeye. Why should you go out there and check it out? This place was amazing. We were in town only for 2 nights from Orlando. We had been to another local spot the night before, and the service was not good at all. So we went here with low expectations, let me tell you we were pleasantly surprised. We had a party of 9, 5 kids, and our server was so attentive and very patient with us. Noe to the food. Of all 9 of us with different plates, we all had nothing bad to say. My husband said it was the best meal he has had in a vety long time. We want to come back now just to try other plates. read more

I was staying nearby, and Brian's Place was recommended to me by the hotel manager where I was staying. I'm extremely glad she did. I asked to be seated in the bar area, which was cozy and had great energy. Seemed like everyone there was a regular, but I didn't feel excluded at all. James, the bartender, came by quickly and ran through the drink specials. Mind you, the specials weren't "2-for-1 drafts" or anything that lame. No, this dude was mixing up some serious gourmet stuff. I went with an Old Fashioned that was more complex than advanced calculus but much easier to enjoy. While awaiting my order, Brian, the owner/operator/head chef/good dude comes out from the back to say hi and meet the people enjoying his place. For my entree I chose the Grouper with Plantains Three Ways, the signature dish of the restaurant. A very well put together dish, the seasoning on the grouper went so nicely with the plantains that I was actually sad when my plate was empty. To make up for it, I ordered the rice pudding, which was covered in toasted almonds, and could have easily been a dessert for two. For the first time all night, I was glad to be alone, because I wasn't sharing that rice pudding with anyone. I don't know if I'll ever be back in the area, but if I am, this place will definitely be one of my stops. Easily one of the best recommendations I've had. read more

Most of the weight stuff there has attitudes they need to be more customer compliant. I complained about not getting dinner rules. They told me they were short on quantity and was rationing and then a table of four sat next to me after I was there they got their food first and when I inquired, they said they were their first which was totally untrue. We were meeting family at the halfway point if Tarpon Springs and homasassa and Hernando Beach seemed to be the best option. I made a reservation and the lady who answered was extremely friendly and accommodating. When we arrived the hostess continued to the same attitude. Our table was on the patio which I highly recommend on a nice night! There was wonderful music playing in the background and even a little cover to block some of the sun. The atmosphere is casual! Our waitress Stephanie was amazing! She was helpful, sweet, and extremely fast! Garlic bread comes to the table. Went there for Eastet Brunch. Had a varied menu. Had the burger. It was ok. Asked for a slice of onion. So what looked to be a 25 lb bag of onions hanging right near the kitchen exit.
