Three years ago I called Brian's Place a hidden gem. Well...I think the secret is officially out. Brian's Place has become one of our go-to restaurants, and after many visits, I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. That's pretty rare these days. Whether we're stopping in for a nice dinner together or bringing friends from out of town, it's always at the top of our list. The food is consistently excellent. I'm a seafood guy, so that's usually where I end up, especially if there's a fresh catch or one of the specials on the menu. My wife almost always orders something completely different, and neither of us has ever looked across the table wishing we'd ordered the other person's meal. That's a pretty good sign that the kitchen knows what it's doing. The service has been just as consistent as the food. Everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, attentive, and genuinely seems to enjoy what they do. You never feel rushed, but you're also never left wondering where your server disappeared to. It's the kind of service that makes you want to come back. One of the things I appreciate most is that Brian's Place delivers every single time. We've been enough times that if there were off nights, we would have found one by now. Instead, every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. My advice? Bring a few friends, order a bottle of wine, share some appetizers, and enjoy the evening. Just don't forget to make a reservation because this place stays busy for a reason. It's still one of our favorite restaurants, and it's one of those places we're always happy to introduce to someone who's never been. The food was delicious as well as the service. It has a real Beach feel to it. I really like all the copper fish on the walls. We got there for the Early Bird just a little after three in the afternoon. Got a nice portion of food exactly how you wanted it to taste. We got a reservation for Friday evening, they sat us out back which I highly recommend because we not only saw the local gators that hang around the area, but were also so excited to see an eagle in his perch right across the water! Food-wise, the Cuban quesadilla was delicious. I had the Brian Salad with chicken for an entree. Honestly, the chicken was not good at all. No taste except burnt and also quite dry. The salad itself was very good though and my husband enjoyed the salmon very much. Bread pudding was a very generous portion, almost too much. Very very tasty. read more

Brian's Place is such a gem -- a true family-owned restaurant that delivers memorable dishes. We started with the grouper cake, and wow... it was awesome. The light sear on the outside gave it the perfect little crunch before getting into the tender, flavorful fish inside. From there, we went all in with the Grouper Three Ways and the flounder special. The flounder was stuffed with crab and artichoke and was absolutely delicious. The Grouper Three Ways was delightful as well -- each preparation brought out different flavors and textures that made the dish feel fun and elevated. Entrées came with a choice of soup or salad, and I went with the pork and pinto bean soup. Comforting, hearty, and full of flavor -- definitely worth choosing. I'll be honest, it's not the cheapest spot in town, but they offer an early bird special that is totally worth giving a try. Great value for the quality you get. And don't sleep on the drinks! They have a really nice seasonal menu that rounds out the experience perfectly. Highly recommend Brian's Place if you're looking for fresh seafood, thoughtful dishes, and a cozy, family-run vibe. A gem of a place right in Hernando Beach! Been here many times...the interior of the Restaurant has been redone, due to the horrible storms we had...it is absolutely beautiful inside! The food and the service was wonderful..some of us ordered off the early menu and the choices were great..I had the Grilled Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious! Finally got around to going to Brian's on Paella night! Located at 3430 Shoal Line Blvd Hernando Beach Fl Brians always Parking was ample, wait was non existent (I am a party of 1) but with parties of 2 or more I suggest reservations. Lisa was the hostess and she was very courteous and hospitable, my waitress Victoria was also awesome! Paella night is usually Wednesdays but this Wednesday he had Hogfish paella! I started with a house salad and garlic bread. The salad was crisp and a great start and the garlic bread soft and warm. The star of this evening was definitely rich, savory and aromatic hogfish paella, flakey hogfish, tender mussels and clams, with succulent shrimp and flavorful rice mixing in a harmony of spice! I savored every bite of the Hogfish paella and wished I could save some for lunch tomorrow but it was just too good not to enjoy all of it in the moment! Looking to try something new and explore our surrounding neighborhood hot spots, we decided to give Brian's Place a try. It's a very nice place with tasteful decor, a small indoor seating area and larger outdoor seating areas very typical of Florida. A series of unfortunate events with the service staff put a huge damper on the experience. We arrived at 4:30pm on a Wednesday expecting there to be plenty of seating readily available. We asked the brown haired hostess, who greeted us with disdain for interrupting her set up efforts, for an indoor table, only to be told all they had available were outdoor tables. Looking around the room, we see many empty tables with all but one of them having a reserved sign on it and that one needed to be turned. We opted for the available table and were seated outside hoping the rain will hold out until we had completed our meal. Sadly, the sky opened up between the salad course and our entrees. Unable to continue to sit there, we went inside looking for our server to have the undelivered entrees wrapped to go. As we waited for our order to be brought up, dripping onto the dining room floor, the front of the house manager asked if we would prefer a table inside. We declined, settled the bill, and drove home to eat our food. If asked to rate just the food, my review would be 5 stars. The filet was succulent, cooked to perfection, and seasoned well. The red snapper had a wonderful crust on it, the mash was on point, and the lemon butter sauce was the surprise star of the dish. We felt the grilled eggplant was a little chewy and butternut squash was a little under cooked but those are subjective to our tastes and did not detract from the dishes. The fact that the dishes were now cold didn't even take away from the flavor. My issues really center around the service, or lack there of, that started with the RBF on the hostess. At no time was there a smile on her face or an apology for only having outdoor seating available. We were banished to the outside like Remy the rodent in Ratatouille instead of offering seating at the bar or being asked if we could wait a few minutes for the empty table to be turned. Where has customer service gone? When we walked in soaked we were not offered a towel to dry off and when we turned down the table inside (after being told there were none available less than 30 minutes prior) we weren't offered a comp of our meal or even a gratis dessert. read more

My husband and I stopped in for dinner. We sat at the bar, as it was busy and it was a Saturday night. We ordered an appetizer, salad, and entree. Everything was delicious. We could not complain. Chicken was dry and burnt and to a point of unediable , was trying to send it back but service was so bad we could not get the attention on a waitress . I was eating solo, ordered the most expensive btl of wine on the menu (specifically asked if it was okay to take remaining wine home with me, knowing I'd have about a glass and called for a pour of their nice bourbon selection .) Ordered mussels, great. Ordered special ribeye "crusted with lobster". Meat was mid well, "lobster" was a spoon of cold grocery store crab salad on top. At least that's what I thought. Side Salad was to be served last, but tat never happened, as I was ghosted. MgMT: My specific point; I bought literally everything the owner would want 1 person to buy ~$xxx check average. As a mgr I'd be table side wondering who the f this person was. I'm not asking for this, it's just kinda unsaid, especially with a $xx steak incorrectly toasted. I politely and quietly expressed my displeasure, with clear overcooked meat.... And once my displeasure was offered, no one touched my table there after. We didn't make reservations on a Tuesday evening, but I noticed many people did. The dining room is a little small so it's probably a good idea to reserve a table. We got the coconut shrimp, roast pork mole and blackened salmon. All very good and cooked well. The have early dinner specials T-Th for $17 definitely worth it! read more

Brian's Place has always been one of those restaurants that my husband and I have like in the past but just don't think to go too often. My husband and I recently returned to Brian's Place for our 14th wedding anniversary dinner celebration this past Saturday and we were not disappointed! We did not have reservations but they were able to immediate accommodate us with seating in the back patio area near the canal and even in this hot Florida season it was shaded with a nice soft breeze. Our server was great giving us some awesome recommendations for drinks and food and upon learning it was our anniversary, she apparently notified management and he brought out two complimentary flutes of champagne congratulating us. After dinner was finished we decided to move to the front patio to listen to the musician playing that night. Our server again was very accommodating and followed her service with us, allowing us to keep our tab open for further drinks. Overall we spent over 4 hours there and enjoyed the whole time! Bottom line is, whether you are looking for casual dining or a great evening celebration, Brian's Place IS the place to go! read more

If you're heading over to Brian's Place, beware of overpaying for terrible service and sub-par food. Despite having one good visit here, our most recent experience was less than good. Women seating people seemed disinterested in greeting those right in front of their face. Once noticed, we were sat at a table where I had to have people's elbows and rear-ends in my face as they entered and exited the restaurant. Shortly after seating, we watched several other people seated across from us as they were promptly greeted and offered drinks/explained the days specials. No one came to our table for approximately 20 minutes. Drinks took another 15. After 45 mins we ordered an app and never saw it. The server finally came back to ask us if we wanted an app! We said, "we ordered it from you 30 mins ago!" Things went from bad to worse. The service got worse and so did the food (when it finally came out after an hour). The manager attempted to help but really did nothing except brought the wrong drink refill, and then only took the drinks off the bill. We were left paying for horrible service, 2 rolls, a crab app that was "edible", steak that tasted like it was severely smoked, and a chicken lemon Alfredo that was reminiscent of Dawn dish soap! I cannot believe we even had to pay a dime! Don't bother. It's a Hernando Beach money Pitt for visitors. read more

We visited Brians Place the day before mothers day. I love Spanish food but did not want to drive to Tampa to Columbia. Brians was absolutely delicious!!! I must say everything was fantastic at Brian's Place until I met the owner Brian. The Bartender was very professional and she prepared some great cocktails before we sat down for dinner. The host was a young gentleman and very helpful buying a $100 gift card and seating us. The waitress was excellent, and dinner was very good (kudos to the chef's). Stan played some great tunes and even played some of our requests while we dined. Then the enjoyable dinner experience was ruined by the owner Brian. I met him and complemented the restaurant. Then when I told him I was from out of town, he proceeded to insult me and where I lived (not once, but twice). I must say with all due respect, after spending around $500 (bar, gift card, tipping Stan, & dinner) the owner Brian spoiled a nice evening out. This place is locally owned and gets his fish right from the Gulf from a local fisherman. His restaurant is almost always busy so that speaks to the service and the food that he provides. He has a Spanish fusion menu, but don't let that scare you, there's plenty to feed everyone. There are great sunsets at this restaurant, so if you're into that, definitely check it out. He has a meeting room upstairs that can accommodate roughly 30 people so if you're thinking of a gathering, definitely consider Brian's Place A friend and I had lunch there on Friday, and I have the ahi tuna burger, which is served with fries. The ahi was perfectly cooked in the bun was toasted delicately but lightly. I opted not to have the pineapple mayonnaise served with it as I do not necessarily like sweet and savory together, so I got there slightly spicy and housemaid mayonnaise, which was perfect. This place has great charm and service and food have always been wonderful every time I have visited. I definitely recommend so don't hesitate. The food is delicious and the menu has some unique flavor combinations. The grouper special came with a lobster and cilantro salsa - who puts those together?!? It worked though, lol. The appetizers are large enough to share or to make a small entree. Ours were bursting with flavor. They do sauces really well here - and provide plenty of Cuban bread to soak them up. I'd suggest ordering one course at a time. Our appetizers came out before our soup and salad, and the entrees showed up before we had finished any one dish. Our outdoor table couldn't hold the entree dishes, so they pulled over another table to ours and set them there, lol. I would say average overall... we each got a drink, one was delicious and the other was off. Appetizers, same deal. Entrees, same - one was good and one was bad.
