We didn't make reservations on a Tuesday evening, but I noticed many people did. The dining room is a little small so it's probably a good idea to reserve a table. We got the coconut shrimp, roast pork mole and blackened salmon. All very good and cooked well. The have early dinner specials T-Th for $17 definitely worth it!

Do you have an early dinner special?

Do you need reservations?

Not a must. But they get pretty booked. I would if you can.

I had the ropa vieja and it was delicious. A decent portion that allowed me to share with my daughter who wolfed down her garlic shrimp in record time. The yuca melted in my mouth and was so garlicky. Even the black beans were full of flavor. I truly would have gone back if I was in Tampa for another day, and I will definitely be making a trip back the next time I am in town. I really can't imagine another cuban spot that could be better.

The restaurant is small with some table seating inside. You can order to go at the counter as soon as you walk in, or be seated. This was my third time trying their food in the past three months. The first time I had Las Palmas I tried the Cuban sandwich. It did not disappoint and I would say it can compete with the best Cubans of Tampa Bay. Their ropa vieja is so flavorful, it is the best I've ever had. The fried pork I ordered today was mediocre. I would not order it again. It wasn't bad, but when compared to the other dishes it is nothing special. The sides, plantains and yellow rice, were very good. Las Palmas has some of the best Cuban food I've tried, certainly the best ropa vieja.

It was Colombian, so trying some new things. Place was packed, we were lucky. There was one open table, so seated right away. We were brought waters and menus and ordered the Beef Empanadas as an appetitizer. My wife selected the Ajiaco, Chicken and Potato soup. My daughter decided on the Sandwich de Carne, Steak sandwich. After looking for something different, I chose the Frijoles con Garra, Beans with pork skin, Fried Pork Belly, Rice, Fried Plantains and Avacado. Apparently every meal comes with a small salad, which was nice. As we were eating our salads, our Empanadas came. Wow! These were the best Empanadas we had ever eaten. Crispy, hot, well filled, and delicious. Our meals came and they were whoppers. Especially after 3.6 Empanadas with my daughter - my wife only had 1/2. My wife's soup was huge, most of it went home. As did 1/2 of my daughter's sandwich. Couldn't believe it was only $7.45, a great deal and very tasty. My beans and beans were great and I enjoyed the Pork Belly. Again, half went home for another meal. To wrap it up we were brought a small piece of Caramel Flan to try. Food was good, service was great, good ambiance but a bit loud at time. My only disappointment was their hot sauce was not even warm. But altogether a nice meal as introduction to Columbian food. Next time I'll try something else again!

Located seemingly out in the boondocks off a busy intersection of two highways, 42 and 475, the standalone building offers a lot of parking. We were led to a booth when we walked in and given a somewhat cryptic menu...did the meats come with rice, plantains, beans or do you order those extra? Being mofongo virgins, my wife's eyes and mine fixated on it. She ordered churrasco trifongo and I ordered the mofongo with steak and chicken. Our mofongos were smothered with a garlic sauce. The mofongos were served in the wooden mortar it was prepared in with the garlic sauce overflowing on the plate the mortar was served on...nice presentation. When we started eating, we both realized that we won't be able to finish it...that pounded plantain and cassava were quite filling. All that starch. The steak and chicken were tender and the garlic sauce was a good compliment. What we didn't like: 1. Service was spotty. Even though it was a late lunch and the place wasn't packed, our server barely checked in on us and I had to actually walk up the counter to request our bill. 2. The floors were sticky, making us think perhaps the place isn't the cleanest. 3. Music was too loud...we were seated close to the speakers making conversation a challenge. Food was decent but service and ambience, or lack thereof, knocked it down.

We were cheerfully greeted upon walking in and seated immediately. Small place with tables, small accommodating bar, nice decor and Italian music playing, are we in Italy? Our server, Gina came right over and greeted us and told us the daily specials. They have a very nice selection of entree's to choose from, something for everyone. Extensive wine list as well. She took our order and got the ball rolling. She brought us warm bread, olive oil dipping sauce and butter, as well as our salads, you pick either soup or salad. Salad was fresh and the Italian dressing was so good. Our food came in a timely fashion, hot and made to order. I ordered Fettuccine Amatriciana, large portion and it was delicious. Husband ordered Rigatoni Susanna, again, a huge portion and we shared a side of homemade sausage in tomato sauce, he enjoyed his pasta and the sausage was fantastic. Gina took good care of us, too full for dessert, and she boxed up my leftovers, Hub devoured his!! Prices were reasonable for this wonderful restaurant and the service you receive, a real gem of a place and a local favorite!! Give this place a try, make a reservation, you have been warned!!
