im typically not a huge brunch food person but i really enjoyed the scramble with hash and toast! +the lychee mimosas were amazing, definitely my favorite servers were great, no complaints at all. great atmosphere and plenty of big tables for a nice brunch out with friends, parents, etc just make sure you put your name down earlier during busy days and hrs :) read more

Visited today on a Monday at 11:30 am. It was not busy. We sat outside for 15 minutes and was passed by the server and manager. Asked the manager to take our order and he told us the server would be with us shortly. (Mind you he was finishing his shift and you could tell her could care less and wanted to get out of there) Needless to say we got up and left as no one took our order. When this place is busy the service sucks. When it's slow the service sucks. Train your staff. read more

I love breakfast republic, especially when Gloria is my server! She is so sweet and gives 10/10 service. She recommended the French toast flight when I couldn't decide which to order, and it was so fun to try three different flavors. The banana split was my favorite! Great service and big portions. I've never been able to finish a breakfast plate here. My only complaint is their limited availability of T-shirts. They didn't have my size in the shirt I wanted. Bathrooms are always clean and there's plenty of parking. read more

Service is great. That jam they make is excellent I find the portions to provide two meals. I usually get the eggs potatoes and turkey bacon. It's perfect. Plus they have an excellent house coffee. I would go weekly during my cancer treatments for a treat. Loved the staff who were always kind to me. read more

Solid breakfast work in the kitchen hampered by one server doing his best Sunday 8:30am. Nice location w/ inside/outside seating options across the street from UC Irvine. Bacon with the American Breakfast was epic and Avocado Toast was quickly devoured. Eggs Benedict underperformed compared w/ the work at Poached Kitchen down the road. Toast and jam was delicious arriving after the meal as did water refills and bottomless coffee. Staff increased after the morning rush, with three tables of empty dishes left to be bussed and cleaned. Easy fix for management to schedule staff early the weekend after move-in at UCI. read more

Horrible Irvine location experience! We waited over 15 minutes to be seated. The manager was standing directly in front of us chatting with a person, ignoring us. He didn't even acknowledged us or the people waiting behind us. He didn't even tell us that they would be right with us like a normal restaurant would. The place was obviously understaffed, with only one or two servers frantically working, and the manager did nothing. He seated us and then went back to chatting with this person instead of coming in and helping his clearly overwhelmed staff. We left in frustration and drove over to the Costa Mesa location (night and day difference) we were greeted immediately, seated right away, and had our food and drinks within 10 minutes. The manager and team there were phenomenal. They were attentive, friendly, and organized. It's astounding how mismanaged the Irvine location is compared to Costa Mesa. Good management makes all the difference and Irvine's location really needs a serious overhaul. read more

We found this place on a whim and I loved it. The food was very good, I really liked the shrimp and grits I got, even if it was on the spicy side. 5 = food 5 = service 5 = ambience Great place for brunch. I had their chilaquiles and a side of the Jurassic bacon. The portions are big. The chilaquiles was pretty good, But I do like my chips crispier. I was hoping the bacon was crispier as well, but since it is so thick, it's hard to be crispy. They have several items that are pretty unique so I would want to come back and try them. Service is great. I came here at the right time because I did not have to wait since I sat outside. The restaurant was quite busy. I love the decor and atmosphere. There was plenty of parking at the time that I came but I know that the parking lot can get pretty busy. read more

There are also some pigeons bouncing around eating fries or bread out of unattended tables, so be warned! They don't seem to be afraid of people :). But onto the food! Other than the long wait, that is typical for a place like this, the food and service are actually always pretty darn on point! Portions are plentiful, staff are friendly and accommodating, and the food always tastes good! One time, we did have a delay in our pancake order, but they were transparent about it. It's also very nice that they have both indoor and outdoor seating, so assuming the weather is nice, definitely nice to sit out and get some sun. read more

The first time I tried this place I didn't love it. I gave it another try and now I've gone multiple times and I love it. I have to always get the s'mores French toast and Oreo latte- those are my favorite things to order there. I switch between the steak and eggs vs the American breakfast (honorable mention of the shrimp and grits). They have so many things on the menu, it can be hard to choose what to order! I find their service great and the food comes out pretty quickly. They're in a pretty busy shopping center, but parking isn't much of an issue! Definitely can't wait to come back. read more

This is my go to spot for breakfast here in Irvine! Food always slaps and it's so delicious!!! Gloria, our waitress, is so incredibly nice and friendly! I can tell she's a hard worker because she didn't just give us great service, but she gave all her tables great service too! She's quick. And she knows her menu! She recommended me to get the sampler when I didn't know what to get, and I enjoyed it! I also appreciate the fact that she mentioned that their signature coffee also had sugar - which was helpful because we didn't know it was already sweet. Thank you Gloria! Finally got to try this place after wondering for so long if the four stars was worth testing out the taste buds and.. not only was it disappointing but talk about California super casual. When did we move to Hawaii and nobody told me of the surfer policy?? Without the 'brah' it's questionable service at best and breakfast your teacher could've made better if your mom didn't pick you up from school. The menu itself was filled with an overwhelming choices of compote on various batter or flat eggs next to 8-hour old heat lamp potatoes. The lunch lady would probably agree. Or maybe I just came after a 30-minute wait and somehow they've JUST ran out of fresh burners. Coffee took three times reordering and one cup was filled to 1/3 of the way because they needed to brew a fresh cup. Coffee runs out. I get it. But the name of this place is Breakfast Republic. Not to be confused with the banana one but unlike Banana R., this place isn't very vegetarian friendly nor do the icons mean anything to he who takes the order. Pancakes looked like two portions of a kids menu. But the price is average.. though what amount is worth spending to endure a failed breakfast. The least important meal?? The plating, the vegan options, lack of vegetarian options.. or at least none that looked special or induces hunger-- all just screams I'm in a nice restaurant in the dead of Arctic. read more

The Hawaiian is always so fire but this time mine came out medium when I wanted medium rare , when it was remade it actually then came out so rare instead of but I felt bad and just said it was okay lol still enjoyed it I'm against a kale salad , I don't know why kale frightens me when it is dressed , however I absolutely loved all the salads( all their salads are with kale) Especially the yellowtail sashimi salad. The it was the best and I wouldn't have ever thought to try to until the server recommended it for me I think for 3 apps and 2 mains we dined a little over two hours , waiting for the surprise dessert to come took a while too , and of course the remake of the steak took some time . Genuinely a five star place , just had a four star experience. The servers aren't responsible for what the chefs put out , but they are the first impression, and they are delightful :)

I'd highly recommend making reservations in advance since this place is definitely popular. Service is fast and friendly, and the overall ambiance is unbeatable. It's super cute during both the daytime and at night, and the gardens surrounding the property are such a lovely place to stroll around before or after eating. I've had a glass of wine here before and enjoyed it. The deconstructed tuna sandwich was also very tasty and well done. The rosemary Parmesan crisps are also good as well as the mussels and fries. I've also tried the charcuterie board, which is a bit small, but still really good quality. Overall, such a beautiful spot for a meal, drinks, or even just enjoying the atmosphere.

So warm with crispy edges & paired with a vanilla bean ice cream.

I also got an iced jasmine with a vanilla cloud (cold foam?). Very yummy and great to sip on while soaking in the great ambiance. It was pretty busy when I arrived on Tuesday late afternoon, but we were still able to snag a table pretty quickly. I'll be back :)

Salty horse, I hate how much I crave you...especially when I need something quick…read more It's one of the newer coffee shop / cafes in Costa Mesa and is still on the Hot List as the line is 15 min minimum on random Tuesday at 11 am. (Does anyone work anymore!? ) The longest I waited was an hour but that was 3 weeks after opening. And I can tell you, as long as you have the time it will be worth it. The overall aesthetic is coastal cowboy meets rustic modern. There is a ton of seating with a great outdoor patio. Parking in the back is pretty slim, so your best bet is street parking. You can either get lucky or park around the block, depending on the day / time. My absolute favorite coffee is the Hawaiian Cowboy. It flavor profile is a nutty tasting honey that's refreshing yet not overly sweet. You can actually taste the espresso without it being too powerful. This coffee is worth the wait. Their other drinks are also good, but this one takes the cake. They have a pretty expansive food menu as well, so it's much more than "just a coffee shop". And you can't forget about their baked goods. O M G. It's from a local bakery (sift bakery) who makes the best non basic treats around. Salty horse found its place at the top of my list in a very saturated coffee market.
