It was my girlfriend's birthday and she wanted to celebrate by having a birthday brunch, just the two of us. She lives in downtown San Diego and I live in North County so we wanted to find something in Encinitas that was equidistance between us. She voted on Breakfast Republic and said she had only heard amazing things. They did not accept reservations because it was a Sunday, early afternoon a.k.a. prime brunch time. I got there a few minutes before we were supposed to meet and put our names in. We had to wait about 25 minutes before we were seated. Not bad at all considering we were looking to catch up anyways. I was able to find a spot in the parking lot which is connected to a plaza off the main road. I put my name into the iPad with a hostess and received text messages to keep me updated on my wait time which was helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but on this particular day nobody wanted to sit outside, it was misty and cold. When we were finally seated, we had a nice table right by the window. They were originally going to seat us at a hightop in the middle of the restaurant until they found a bigger and better table and asked if we would prefer that. We obliged. We were greeted almost immediately by our server, Sadie. She was wonderful and we received amazing service all the way around. We wanted a fun and dangerously delicious coffee drink and Sadie recommended the Breakfast Republic latte that had chai, vanilla, and mocha all mixed in with a coffee served with whipped cream on the top. How could one refuse? A little breakfast dessert since we weren't drinking alcohol. I also got a immunity boosting shot. I had already eaten a few eggs earlier in the morning before church so I wanted something more sweet. I opted for the BR Granola with yogurt and berries. My girlfriend a.k.a. the birthday girl Sam got the breakfast sammie which looked delicious and I totally had order envy. I really wanted to Mr. Presley French toast so that is for next time. The portions were very generous. The bread looked incredible. I'm such a bread person. That's my ultimate weakness. Overall, the prices were very fair, the environment was lively, the service was great, and the wait time wasn't horrible. I would definitely return here in a heartbeat. I know that they have multiple locations so wherever you are, check to see where the closest one is, you won't be disappointed. The menu has a lot of great offerings and it was very hard to choose. Overall, Breakfast Republic IS breakfast goals. read more

Love the food and atmosphere! The wait can be a bummer though. But the staff and service is great.

This is probably our favorite breakfast in Carlsbad area. We had breakfast here during our holiday in Carlsbad. The food is fresh and tasty. We had Crab&Crawfish egg Benedict and Traditional breakfast. They don't have kid meal/menu but they allow you to choose / customize whatever you like for your kid - that's awesome! Sometime, kid just needs something simple like a piece of pancake. The service is wonderful and friendly. Seems the staff knows that it is a little bit challenge to enjoy 'hot' coffee while active kid is around. We love the way they care - offering a cup of hot coffee to go! First I thought they will bring me just a to go cup so I can pour my left over coffee (which just been served and still hot). Turned out he served me really a cup of hot coffee with no charge. Sometimes, something small can go a long way! Thanks for making a really happy holiday! read more

I live in Hawaii and I ordered a Mothers Day Meal by phone delivered in California. The lady General Manager (can't remember her name - I'm having a "memory block" at this moment) who assisted me was thorough and helpful. She projected a friendly and professional demeanor over the phone. When my son picked up the food, he said the order was handed to him by the same lady General Manager. My son was also very pleased with her service. The order was ready on the time I specified and it was done accurately. Most importantly, the entire family enjoyed the delicious meal. Thank you for your excellent service and what you do for the community! read more

Me and my wife went there this morning for brunch on a Monday. A f****** Monday(not busy at all). We stood at the host stand for 7 minutes before someone had even acknowledged us. After we were sat we were ignored for an additional 10 minutes. The food was straight from Sysco and my wife's poached eggs where brought to us in a bowl of water and they did not look right. I don't remember it ever being this bad... our waiter didn't check on us once not even to refill our waters. We are very disappointed and don't recommend. read more

Finally stopped by for brunch, for our first time. The breakfast we had was well prepared, delicious food. We certainly enjoyed every bite. The turkey meatloaf hash, had a decent amount food. I took about half of it home and had the remainder for lunch, & it tasted just as good as it did when I had it fresh. My bf had the steak & eggs and he was impressed, to say the least. He also ordered the horchata vodka w/ nitro cold brew. It was really strong, so no complaints there. Definitely recommend this place. Looking forward to our second visit soon! P.S. the only thing we did not like was the location of the restrooms. It is in plain site for the guests who are sitting deeper into the restaurant and can see when you are done and washing your hands. There is no barrier or privacy when you exit the restroom and a line can grow and be a bit disruptive to customers who are enjoying their meals. Otherwise, this place would have gotten a 5 star from me. read more

I have been so hesitant to try this place out and I'm glad I have not came sooner. I had high expectations and they were not met. They do use fresh ingredients and free range eggs butttt I still wasn't a fan of the food. I went on a Monday around 2pm looking to avoid a long wait. (They close at 3) There was no wait but I felt like the waiter rushed me to order because they were closing soon. When the food came out it was at room temp rather than warm/hot. The potatoes were super oily and the majority of the potato area was just small shavings after eating a couple potatoes. We ordered the Jurassic Benedict - didn't know it was just bacon with egg + hollandaise sauce. I wish they had better descriptions under each menu item because I try not to rely on yelp photos to figure out what I'm ordering :( I didn't really enjoy the bacon so I just ate the egg, but on the bright side my boyfriend said he really likes the bacon... I guess it just depends on your tastebuds. Also ordered a pancake flight with pineapple, strawberry cheesecake, and bacon, but it was nothing amazing. It's basically just a buttermilk pancake with all the extra stuff on top nothing inside or mixed in the batter. The bacon pancake is just a slice of bacon with batter covering it... don't know what else I was expecting with a bacon pancake but I wish it was something that I couldn't make at home. Service was decent. There wasn't much to attend to and condiments were already in the table (so I can't really say there was great service). Prices can be a little high for some but I feel that brunch places are getting more &a more expensive each year. The portions are big enough for sharing so at that price point it is affordable. Overall, would not return nor would I recommend others to try this place. In my honest opinion, you're better off waiting for two hours at Snooze or trying another breakfast spot in San Diego. read more

Encinitas has a plethora of brunchy spots, and this is a hit-or-miss one. My favorite is the breakfast mac & cheese. Love the flavor and the bite of the bacon - or Jurassic pork if you're lucky enough to get there before they run out (shame on you for running out) - but it can get kind of soupy and mushy. The jambalaya is pretty good, but again, the rice can at times be overcooked. I would recommend not getting pancakes or French toast as its overpriced here and there are plenty of other cheaper spots that do it better. It's unfortunate that this place can be so inconsistent with its food and service. As much as I want to make it my regular Sunday spot because of its potential, we'll probably head elsewhere to save some time and money. read more

In love with the pancake flight! Due to covid we ordered delivery but I'm definitely looking forward to dinning-in in the future. They have a great selection of delicious pancakes, I can't choose just one! That's when I was so excited to see their pancake flight option. You get to choose 3 different options and each one is stacked with layers of pancakes so its pretty decently portioned. read more

I wanted to love this place, I really did. But wow, it was extremely underwhelming, which was shocking because it's been so hyped up on social media. Pictures are deceiving for sure. I came with a friend for brunch on a Saturday. The wait wasn't too bad considering it was prime time, so we were stoked for that. But quick seating was the only pro of the experience. Our server was a bit indifferent when we asked for recommendations, our coffee drinks were meh with the exception of the whipped cream on my friend's mocha. But oh the food... I've seen this place blown up on IG, fancy pancakes, exciting plates. My friend got 1 pineapple upside down pancake & the San Diego Benedict & I got the Jurassic Pork Benedict & 1 cinnamon roll pancake. The pancakes were dry & flavorless, & I had to drown mine in syrup. The bacon was super thick with too many flavors going on, & was excessive. I know you're rolling your eyes, thinking "there's no such thing as too much bacon," the truth is, yes there is. In Eggs Benedict, the whole point is to have flavor balance. A little redeeming quality: the eggs were poached perfectly. But there's so many other cool places that are consistent with service & food, so I won't be back. read more

There are so many great places for breakfast, sadly this is no longer on my list. I tried twice and will now go somewhere else. It is not worth the wait. Service: 5 Star (excellent) Price: 4 Star (reasonable) Atmosphere: 2 (very noisy!) Food: 3 (little flavor, overcooked potatoes) I had eggs Benedict the first time & the baked potatoes omelette the second time. Each time eggs and potatoes were overcooked. read more

Food: 0 out of 5 Arrived at 1:45PM, waited for 25 mins and got seated outdoors. Ordered Monthly Special Lemon- Poppy Seeds Dutch Baby and Chilaquiles. Food arrived over 25 mins after order was placed. Dutch Baby skillet came barely had any temperature, and Dutch Baby was cold. It was 3 o'clock and I was so hungry, so I finished the food anyway. Chilaquiles rice was undercooked and barely warm. Service: 3 out of 5 Significantly understaffed. Server didn't come to take order until 15 mins after water was brought. No water was refilled. When I informed her of barely lukewarm skillet, she said the Dutch Baby wasn't cooked in the skillet, so it's very possible the skillet is not hot. That reasoning just doesn't sound right. Who would cook the food in one container in the oven, then transport the food out to another?!! When I said I least expected the food to be hot, not cold, she just said sorry about that. I would appreciate it if she tried to bring the issue to higher level, and voided the bill due to bad dining experience. But nothing was offered. First time here, and would not come back. read more

Horrible customer service. I ordered pancakes and a coffee through door dash, specifically requested utensils and syrup received neither I then call the restaurant and all I am told is thank you for the feed back and I'll share with my management team, then after sensing I am frustrated they put manager Sergio on the phone he offers for me to call door dash and request a refund....says on their end they see it says no utensils. I informed him I had my copy of order and it clearly states utensils and syrup ‍ until the end of the conversation he offers if I want to provide my name and contact info for free pancakes wow 20 minutes into conversation and then they try and make it right. Will never return there again. read more

I can't say enough amazing things about our visit! The food was AMAZING! The set up is so cute inside. We actually came on a bad day for the restaurant... headed out of town and back home we stopped in. After reviews and pictures I was torn between coffee, I NEEDED coffee and a good Bloody Mary. I decided for the families sake (we were going to spend the next 7hrs in the vehicle) I should get my morning coffee. That coffee did not disappoint! The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. Our server was fantastic, very friendly from the moment he came to our table. He helped with suggestions... after a while our server came out and let us know one of (or possibly the main cook) had a family emergency and had to leave. So they were down a cook. He let us know it would be longer but offered us Mimosas; not my thing we thanked him and said no worries. I went ahead and ordered the Jurassic Pork Bloody Mary and told him to just add it tour bill, to which he replied nah, I'll get it. He didn't have too... I was eager to try it and we had a little time... well, it turned it to a pretty long wait... I'd say an hour or more; but our server was fantastic and kept coming buy and chatting with us an all the tables. He continuously brought out little snacks or complimentary drinks for us and others. He said they would be buying half our meal, again we weren't expecting that but it was a nice treat. So our food came... it was worth the hour or more wait!!!! I gotta say that Pesto was some of the best I've ever eaten! I had the Eggs Benedict topped w/pesto and w/home fries upgraded w/Brussels Sprouts. Ok, so let me say upgraded w/Brussels Sprouts YUMM!! Seriously, I told our waiter I could just eat the potatoes upgraded w/Brussels Sprouts topped w/some hollandaise and pesto and could make a meal. So fabulous!!! That Bloody Mary was delish!!! That Jurassic Pork Bacon - make sure you get an order of it! I had to share what came a top my Bloody Mary w/the table and while they all enjoyed it I was sad I didn't get it all to myself! Everyone loved their food. We all agreed we will be back for sure!!! We come to the area at least once a year and will come back and recommend to anyone. Now... the kicker, our waiter was so embarrassed about the wait time for us he comped our entire table, everything! We didn't expect it at all: but that service was what really made the meal. We left him more than enough to cover our bill and an additional for a tip. We will for sure be back and will request his section if he's working. read more

I had the pleasure of having Breakfast at Breakfast Republic in Encinitas this morning, as I often do. Love their food and the vibe. Today my server was Jose and he just really added to my appreciation for the place. He was friendly, observant, fun. He seems to really enjoy his work which made it nice. Really wanted to love this place. Nice menu and located close to me. Went here 3 times, gave them 3 chances. Parking ....................... 5 stars Location ..................... 4 stars Food Quality ............... 4 stars Surprise up-charges.... 1 star Served Correct Food... 1 star Menu .......................... 3.5 stars Server Friendliness ..... 2 stars -------------------------------------- TOTAL SCORE ............. 2.9 stars Each time the food came wrong, the check had extra charges (as mentioned by other Yelpers) and it seems the servers were just going thru the motions and not motivated to make good on mistakes. Good to know... When ordering pancakes and the server asks if you want maple syrup, expect to see a surprise up-charge on your check. When asked if you prefer white or wheat toast, if go you with the healthy option then expect to see a surprise up-charge on your cheek. Executive Summary: Won't be eating here again. read more

Came here because I was told it was a good place for breakbeat, the food was ok, wasn't the best, they were out of steak & eggs which I they would tell me when I first seated and not when ordering. Cool breakfast spot in a little strip mall in Encinitas. Fortunately we got there around 2pm and they close at 3, so there wasn't a wait. The decor is pretty cool and very egg-centric, with cool little egg chairs scattered throughout. Our server must've had a long day because he definitely wasn't in the greatest mood, but that's fine. We got some coffees - standard black coffee (they have free refills). My friend and I split the breakfast tostada and the mushroom and pesto benedict. The tostada was very good! It was light, simple, yet the perfect balance between the beans, cheese, and the eggs. The potatoes were okay...could've used a little more seasoning as they were a bit dry and tasteless. Aside from the peppers, the benedict could've been better. The mushroom was extremely rough and hard to eat, while the english muffin didn't taste thoroughly cooked/doughy. Overall, not a bad place and can definitely understand its popularity. read more

Super disappointed. Service was extremely slow despite not being all that busy (a Wednesday morning). But I can be patient for good food and at least the staff were aware that our wait was ridiculous, since they kept coming to apologize.
