AWESOME experience! I had the 20 minute session and it was the perfect amount of time for this first time around. The employee that greeted us was on the phone with a last minute Karen, but once he was free, he got down to the business of getting me ready for my first Smash Therapy session. We checked in and were shown to our demolition room. Once the lights were lowered and I got my 80's Thrash Metal soundtrack going, it was ON! I put the name of a recent ex Pres on one item, and reduced it to a pile of pieces no longer identifiable. I moved on to a monitor, a boombox and then finally a case of beer bottles! I let each member of my family throw a beer bottle at the end, and we have decided we MUST come back and let everyone play this time! It was one of the best Christmas Presents EVER! My one suggestion is perhaps a bit more light in the rooms so photos and videos are easier to shoot OR.... offer a video of the session filmed by Break Stuff. LOCATION look for the white one story building with blue trim. There is some parking in front with angled spots otherwise you'll have to park on the street in downtown San Jose Area. There's a middle door where you walk into the office building. The suite 125 is at the end of the hallway. Small office, but not much room needed to check in and break stuff in. WHAT it is. You sign a waiver on a phone electronically. Be sure to wear long sleeves and long pants and close toed shoes. I made sure to put my hair up. They provide safety goggles and face protectors. Not much space to put stuff so don't bring a lot of personal belongings, but you are able to keep them with you in the room. You get baseball bats and sledge hammers to break stuff. You can use your phone to take photos and videos. Esteban will ask at the end if you want a photo. He records the session which you can buy at the end for $15 if I remember right. I've seen other reviews talk about a recycling fee, but I didn't get asked to pay any such fee. STUFF beer bottles and old electronics like servers and speakers. MUSIC you're welcome to use your phone to blast your music through the speakers. The lights are turned down and black lit and change according to the music. Rock or what I call "men yelling" music is the most fitting for breaking stuff. GENERAL yes I recommend doing this at least once! It's fun and funny especially if you go with someone else. First off, if you are at all even considering doing something like this, do it! It was one of the most fun and cathartic experiences of my life and you wont regret it. My wife and i actually showed up very early due to scheduling/traffic issues. The owner didn't seem to mind at all, in fact he immediately got to cleaning up and had us start over 20 minutes early just because we had shown up early when he didn't have to do any of that. He was incredibly polite, fun to talk to, set us up with our room and gave us just enough rules that we didn't hurt ourselves but not so much that we couldn't have fun. As i said before, this was one of the best experiences of my life. My wife and i had so much fun and blew off so much steam we are absolutely going to be coming back ourselves and will be telling all our friends and family about this experience and suggest they all come here too! read more

Being offered hearing protection ear muffs would be nice. My ears are still ringing some after ~18hrs. - It was very hot. Think of protecting your whole self while staying as cool as possible. - Potentially opt for the B.Y.O.B. package and just collect glass, ceramics and other easily breakable things leading up if you aren't looking for an intense workout. I found the electronics a lot less satisfying because they were sooo hard to break, and the sledge hammer and crow bars were so high impact. I'm definitely a bit sore today! To me, it was most fun, and less sweaty, to just throw the bottles on the ground/wall or have someone throw them in the air while taking turns hitting them with the baseball bat (Jerome recommended this and it was really fun), but they were gone too soon. -Check yourself thoroughly after for shards of things. Iv been a Bay Area Native my entire life, and just when I though I've done it all, I find Break Stuff! I googled it one day and was shocked a place like this even existed!! I think we can all agree life is a Bitch right now, so i figured beating the crap out of some things would be super therapeutic, little did I know it was also be a freakin BLAST!! Me and my sister went with the "all you can break package" and man was it worth it. Esteban was amazing and super sweet, he kept funneling bottles in the room for us. I went on a Wednesday ( normally closed) Esteban opened for us to blow off some steam and even let me bring my own batt! The room is a perfect size, rugged with different color lights and a strobe light. He dosent servalence the room, so feel free to go Ape S***! I got to blast my own music on his Bluetooth speaker he provides for you. After 30 min or solid distruction, I felt AMAZING! I got so much annoyance and aggression out, so cathartic lol you deff need to get a package with electronics... those were my favorite! Crazy stronger than they look lol. We were in there for about 30-40 min and it's more than enough. You exert so much energy and strength, Your more then done at the end. Long story short, I booked the wrong day and tried to book for the next day with two hours in advance, which was immediately cancelled by Esteban. I had also just purchased a new phone a few days prior to booking that had a temporary phone number attached which I didn't know about so their confirmation texts didn't come thru at their desired time, however I responded as soon as I got them. Basically the staff is rude and acted like no one was going to come in and take the spot I originally had booked. Please see the attached messages. I took one of my good friends as a birthday gift and we both ended up really loving it. We were the last ones there for the evening and we were running a little late because we got a little lost and the owner was really understanding. I originally signed up for glass only without realizing what that entailed. What I originally wanted was to also break electronics. The owner told us that unfortunately they didn't have any in stock and led us into the room to start smashing. About half way through our allotted time, the owner came into the room with some speakers and a fax machine he said he was able to find in his inventory. We were elated and so grateful that he went above and beyond what we asked for. They play music as your smashing away so you can really get into it. Definitely worth trying out. I came with one of my best friends to, of course, break stuff. I had considered another location in SJ but the vibe here definitely seemed better. We booked online for Annihilation (30 Min, 30 Glass Items, 3 Electronics) which at the time of review was $125 + $25 Recycling Fee. We booked for a Saturday at 5pm, the booking process was easy and we received 3 reminder texts and then a text asking us to confirm the day of. We arrived a bit earlier than the appointment time to find two other groups waiting for the gates to open. Once the gates opened we all were brought into an area to wait, after which my friend and I were brought into the building to sign a waiver. We were then given pairs of gloves and goggles and were sent to our own little rage room. We were allowed to connect to the speaker in the room to play our own music and increase/decrease the volume as desired, which definitely improved the experience. In the room there were various crowbars, a mallet, and a sledge hammer as well as a crate of glass glass bottles and electronic items (a VCR/DVD player, 2 Speakers, and some other electronic device). There was a blue plastic barrel for us to set up items on to smash as well as an area set aside for us to swing down on things (to prevent damaging the concrete floors). I don't believe we had the full 30 minutes as it took some time to check us in as well as the other party before we could get started but the time we did have was more than enough (and honestly you might get a little tired before your time is up anyways). When you start, the lights dim, colorful lights start setting the vibe and you start breaking stuff! The time will definitely fly by. When it's all over, the lights will return to normal and Esteban will come in to check on your experience. My only cons would be starting a bit late and the gloves not being the best (I believe they're the Firm Grip Suede Leather Palm Large Gloves you can find at Home Depot which don't have a strap to tighten the wrist) but they get the job done, it's not a deal breaker. I didn't experience any ventilation problems and the sledgehammer wasn't obscenely heavy for me, although my friend did struggle a bit with the sledgehammer; your mileage may vary. I would advise anyone coming to come in a group of 3 or less, 4 might be a bit crowded in my opinion (though again I only came here as a group of 2). Esteban himself is friendly, great to talk to, and fairly easy going. No issues with him at all. He was open to any questions at the start and explained the rules simply before leaving the room to let us start. He also checked in with us afterwards asking about our experience after our time was up and was down to chat for a bit and even recommended a few places nearby for a drink as we paid him. Edit: Esteban also asked if we wanted our photo taken afterwards and used one of our phones to take both portrait and landscape mode photos. Thanks Esteban! I would definitely recommend to anyone considering coming here. I myself will most likely be back whenever I have friends in town visiting. read more

We were given two pairs of gloves and one face covering for each person. Although we booked for 50 bottles, we were actually given 60 bottles and used all our imagination to break the bottles.
