When you first walk in, there is an array of pastries and sweet treats. I opted for the raspberry cream cake but was disappointed. It was dry and bland. My friend ordered the Biscoff cake that came in a soda can and hers was delicious. I probably just picked a bad one that day. The coffee was delicious and the latte art was very cute. I would like to return and try other pastries!

The location makes sense as the residents of Williamsville are generally well-educated and worldly enough to appreciate authentic Yemeni cuisine; the same cannot be said for most of Buffalo suburbs, unfortunately, so I'm grateful the Buffalo metro now has one. Ordered the Qamaria latte, traditionally-spiced with cinnamon and cardamom. The spice notes were potent, but not at all overpowering and the beverage remained balanced. Had a chicken malawach as well; flaky and savory, and also well-spiced. It was a bit greasy which was the only regrettable thing about the experience, but not extremely and it didn't compromise the flavor or texture. The dining room itself was clean and elegantly decorated with Arabian and Gulf motifs, and the staff were friendly and helpful when my mother had questions about the menu. (I give any practicing Muslim props for working in food service while fasting during Ramadan.) All and all, grateful they're part of the community; I just hope they don't overexpand and sacrifice quality for quantity like many others.

I had specifically made the stop here to grab a quick coffee & a breakfast "sang-which" on my way to run errands; only to find out upon arrival they offer no food here. ONLY COFFEE. Kind of a bummer. Due to busy Main Street in Williamsville and parking difficulties don't know if I would stop back because they don't have any food to sit and enjoy with your coffee. Seemed popular, long lines waiting to be served. Posting an updated menu on Yelp, as coffee shop has no paper menu (to-go menu) and they also do not have a website displaying their menu online for customers to view. That would be a nice update.

It was a Saturday morning and while street parking was plentiful, the line inside was pretty long. That said, the line moved at a reasonable pace and tables seemed to turn over fairly quickly. By the time our coffees were ready, we were able to grab a seat without too much trouble. My mom ordered a black coffee while I opted for one of the seasonal lattes. Both were smooth, well balanced, and what we were hoping for on a cold winter morning! Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the food selection. We were hoping for a light breakfast but options were limited to cookies and a few small pastries. The items that sounded most appealing were already sold out for the day which was a bit of a bummer! This is definitely not a full breakfast spot. Prices were on par with what you'd expect from a craft coffee shop, especially in the Williamsville area. While I enjoyed the coffee, the overall experience on a busy winter morning felt a little too hectic for my liking. All that to say I'd absolutely return, just at an off hour and after having already eaten. Overwinter is popular for a reason, and with better timing on my part, I know it would shine even brighter to me!

Having lived in Williamsville from 1997 - 1999, we fell in love with Alethea's and sponge candy…read more Last fall, we took our neighbors here in Texas to Buffalo & Niagara Falls. They had never been to the area and we made sure to take them to Alethea's And introduce them to Buffalo's finest sponge candy. Last week was our aunt's 95th birthday. She loves chocolate and we wanted to send her some for her birthday. I saw that we could order candy online, but I called the store directly to see if someone could deliver it to her (she lives less than 2 miles from the store). I spoke with Teddy. He was wonderful. I explained what I wanted and he said they normally ship even locally. When I told him where our aunt lived, he said that he, or one of his associates, would be happy to deliver it in person. Teddy delivered it that evening. It was a great start for our aunt's birthday the next day. She was delighted with the sponge candy and chocolates. I had asked Teddy if we could have some sponge candy delivered to us in Texas. He told me that offered an ice pack for an additional $5 to keep it cool enough to survive hot weather. I ordered some candy and it was delivered 2 days later. Sadly, the candy was in the UPS truck from 9:30 a.m. until delivered that evening at 5 p.m. Even with the ice pack, the Texas heat was too much. I took pictures of the melted candy and sent to Teddy. He immediately responded and apologized and said he would contact me when he was back in the store. He called and said that he didn't want to try shipping a replacement box of sponge candy, but credited the entire amount back to my credit card. Outstanding candy and outstanding customer service. I will try again this fall to have some shipped to us in Texas when the weather cools down. Highly recommend Alethea's for those living in the local area as well as for shipping (when the weather is cooler).

Inside, along with a nice size seating area to eat and bakery ordering line, they have ready made baked goods throughout many different bakery cases and fridges, as well as pre-packaged options. Everything from kringles to cookies and scones to cupcakes and full custom cakes. I had read about legendary cinnamon scones and have been a huge scone kick (especially cinnamon!), so I had to try them. Not only do they make cinnamon though, they take a unique approach to their fruit scones by filling them with fruit jelly, so of course I tried a lemon blueberry filled scone too. The filled ones are better in theory than practice. The lemon flavor of the dough was almost nonexistent and the blueberry jam didn't spread well enough to help out the other lacking flavors. The cinnamon scone absolutely could have potential, but unfortunately mine was overly hard and crumbly - I wish I had asked for a specific, newer and lesser-baked one, but such is life :)
