The two young girls working behind the counter were extremely nice. I had a few questions on some of the donut flavor options since this was my first visit here. They did a great job, and they didn't rush me while I was looking. There is such a wide variety. I'll definitely visit again and buy another dozen donuts different from the ones yesterday. I stopped by around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty empty and so were the donut cases. Inside it's cozy, clean, and well appointed. I placed my order and sat by the fireplace. Apple fritter the size of a dinner plate, French toast donuts, strawberry donuts, orange donuts, chocolate donuts, red velvet donuts,glazed fry cakes and cream cheese filled to name just a few that I had to select from. I always prefer local shops to chains so I was so happy when I heard about Donut Kraze. The staff were a joy from the minute I walked in the door. And when I was making my selections she was telling me about new flavors that were coming out of the window warm from the kitchen,that I couldn't resist. The fritter is fluffy and sweet without being heavy or greasy. Somehow they made it impossible for me to tell you which donut is my favorite. But I will say that the three most unusual flavors, orange , strawberry and French toast are well worth the dry over just for them. I don't know how Donut Kraze remained a secret for so long , but it's really deserving of more accolades. read more

A big Buffalo debate... paulas or donut craze? Well let me explain my thoughts. Donut Kraze is highly underrated in my opinion. They had ve a large variety of donuts, that deep fried flavor that everyone looks for in a donut and huge apple fritters that keep you wanting to go back for more. If you love peanut donuts, donut craze is the way to go. They have a large variety of peanut donuts including cherry, blueberry, or custard filled along with classic sticks. They also have better apple fritters than paulas in my humble opinion. Where they don't meet the mark compared to paulas is when it comes to their cake donuts and size. Donut Kraze donuts are more manageable than paulas in terms of size which some may not be in favor of. They also have a smaller selection of cake donuts that are slightly more subpar than paulas but still absolutely delicious and noteworthy. At the end of the day if I'm near donut craze and had a craving I would 100% stop. Let the debate be up to you, but Donut Kraze stands underrated. read more

I've been thinking... and I've decided that if I were a rebellious cow or sheep, and I saw a lush pasture and wanted to make it my own personal dinner buffet, and I saw a sign saying "Do Not Graze", then I would ignore it, and would go ahead and munch away and to hell with the consequences. But this place has nothing to do with that. At the time when I ate a lot of Donuts, I was going through a "Donut Phase." I also ate a lot of potato chips, so my diet description was essentially "Donut Lays." I promise I'm talking about potato chips rather than oh is that the time I better get on with this review. What to get: The Sour Cream Donut. The Original Glazed. Much fancier "digs" as they say (but not usually me, unless I'm parodying them). The place is spacious, clean, and looks more like a mid-price restaurant than a donut shop. But what really matters is the product, of course. To me, anyway. I'm not a fan of the blueberry crumble or cream cheese, but then I never would be. Those were for someone else, and I shared them. The crumble, by the way, is not crumble as I know it, but more like peanuts. For me, I just got a few of the glazed sour cream, which is one of the best donuts in the country, let alone the city. They're fresh and delicious. Absolute donut heaven. This donut makes Paula's wish it was NYC's Doughnut Plant. I don't "get" Paula's and I never will. Come here and try the Sour Cream Donut instead, and then decide for yourself. While you're at it, also try the doughier, fluffier "original glazed" at Famous Doughnuts on Main Street, as well. I'm Kraze-y about these donuts. Hedley style. When the donut stares at me, I always return its "Donut Gaze." Like a cow, I love to "Donut Graze." And I can only imagine that while waiting to find out if it will get to be a Sour Cream or not, any given Donut gets down on its knees, and "Donut Prays." Just as awesome as the other Donut Kraze that is down yonder on Dingens right off Exit 1 of I-190, this second location was going to be 24 hours, was briefly 24 hours, I was excited for it to be 24 hours, but now it's not 24 hours... in fact it's closing earlier and earlier because it's just not nailing the business the way the other DK is. DK could be considered a cross between BK and DQ, except both those ugly chains deserve negative stars... -2 for DQ, -2.5 for BK. And if you multiply those star ratings together, what do you get? 5 stars for Donut Kraze! Famous Doughnuts (Main St near Hertel) may be my favourite and their original glazed maybe one of the best in the country, but Donut Kraze makes damn good donuts (not to be confused with nonuts, which is what they call a Eunuch I guess) as well and it's not far off that amazing standard. Both leave Paula's and all the crap chains miles behind, in the distance. Service can be nice and I feel a little bit sorry for them not being as busy as they should be. The Donuts or excellent you should come and try them for yourself. Both locations are similarly good in standard, unless you're talking about floor space and decor, in which case the new one is clearly superior by miles, or should I say clearly Erie, since we're nowhere near Lake Superior. Buffalo is lucky to have some great donuts and this is one of the stand out spots which everybody should try. If you think Paula's, Frankie's, Tim Hortons, Dunkin, are good donuts... you haven't tried these yet. Donut Kraze is the donut shop that Buffalo deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Thought I'd be updating, I guess I never did one for my favorite location before the move to TCOT. Previous location 5 stars. This location solid 3. Very dark, the case was lackluster mid morning Saturday. I had a honey dip stick and it was stale in taste and texture. Egg sandwich with sausage on a everything bagel saved the day. Why did the donuts look so small? Where are all the fun flavors I see online? Drab dark and dreery echoey interior,old guys talking soooo loudy. Definitely a turnoff. I am not even a fan of doughnuts but this place is a must for anyone! I went for the breakfast sandwich and against my better judgment I picked the bagel which was too big it overpowered the rest of the sandwich but you can also choose from a roll or croissant. The egg and sausage on the sandwich was very good so I know it would be even better in a different base. Again, I don't really care for doughnuts but I had a bite of one and it was fantastic!! It was light and airy and kind of reminded me of fried dough because you could definitely taste the fried part of it. The place was extremely clean and inviting and the girls working were so friendly, you have to check it out! I went and checked out the new location for the first time today because I was in the neighborhood. The location is great and very clean. The donuts are just as delicious as they have always been. I ordered a chocolate honey dipped and a peanut stick. Two of my favorites. I definitely wish they had more locations but Tonawanda isn't too far. I'll be back. read more

Oh, and that drive to Famous Doughnuts was all for naught when just as you're parking, the employee flips the open sign to close a full hour earlier than closing. Bummer. So you remember Doughnut Kraze, and you're on your merry way to give them a go. The good news is Doughnut Kraze is always open. I struck up some friendly chatter with another customer, who just seemed happy actually talking to someone for a change, you know? Quarantine problems, I'm sure. The employee was a student, and she was as sweet as the pastries and such she was serving up. A real delight. I didn't see anything that caught my eye in particular. Many of the things I usually go for were gone, unfortunately. But I made due with a few doughnuts, a classic coconut, glazed, cinnamon, and a fritter. They were ... okay, I guess. They were dry, and I lamented not having anything to drink while I ate half the coconut one in the car. The apple fritter wasn't too bad. The glazed only had glaze on one side, and yeah, still dry. Also, they have that taste like they aren't drained and sit in grease or something. I don't know. Donut Kraze is a great little donut shop/cafe located conveniently in a little strip mall in Tonawanda. I was looking for a dessert fix to bring home for later and was in the area so figured I'd give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere when I went in - nice spacious sitting area with tasteful seating, definitely a place where you could meet up with a friend for a bite and some coffee. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the selection of donuts was decent. We went with trying the vanilla creme, Bavarian creme, a honey dip stick, and a chocolate honey dip. The donuts were pretty good - tasted fresh, and a more generous size than a donut you'd get from Dunkin or Tim's. My fiance also got a bagel with butter while we were there, which was decent - not as chewy or dense as a good bagel, but hard to dislike a bread with warm butter on top! Still falls below Paula's on the donut hierarchy, but definitely above Dunkin or Tim's, and probably a better place to choose if you're looking to hang out with a friend since the seating area is so nice and the menu also includes various coffee drinks and some more substantial sandwich options. read more

I had to come here as soon as I learned about the maple bacon donut. Now it doesn't have as much cream filling as a Paula's donut, and it isn't as big, but the maple bacon is the star of the show. The cream filling is just the icing on the cake... ...or the cream in the donut... Whatever. It's probably less sweet, too, so if Paula's is too sweet for you, Donut Kraze is probably just right. I also had a chocolate salted caramel cappuccino. I'm not a coffee fan, but this honestly tasted more like hot chocolate to me. Next time I'll ask them to forgo the pretzels. It's an interesting touch, but I don't like drinking soggy pretzels. Just whipped cream for me. Cute shop. It's near the Boulevard Mall on a small side street rather than the main drag. All of the donuts are so fresh and the ones that are filled have a ton of yummy goodness inside! They offer a Cannoli donut and they will fill for you on the spot! One of my favorites is the Toasted Coconut Bavarian...oh so divine! The customer service here is on point! The staff is patient, kind and very accommodating. They have decorated donuts for me and they came out perfect! There's a spacious sitting area with a TV and Free WiFi. I also love the fact that they use real coffee mugs and not disposable cups when sitting in. Makes a big difference when drinking your coffee. So I hate to be the one to give this place a not so good review but I'm going to keep it real. I went in around 3:30 on a Sunday. A couple customers were before me and it seems only one person was working so I waited a couple of minutes, cool. I have tried this place in the past, but it was a while ago so I cant remember how it was. Don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Nice sit down areas with ample seating. I had high Hopes from the pics and reviews but I wish I would have just went to Paula's. I got the maple bacon and frosted jelly. Both were dry and not soft. They had a good flavor but the dryness ruined them for me. Maybe they were all that was left after a busy day as the racks were low, some flavors gone. I guess I could try earlier in the day maybe I'd get a fresh one,but if its 24 hours they should all be checked for freshness. I paid $5 and some change for 3 donuts and honestly ended up throwing them away after tasting. I'll update if I go back. read more

So... having been to Paula's doughnuts a couple times, I would say I prefer this place to Paula's (I don't understand the craze about Paula's doughnuts). The store is super clean and modern and it's open 24/7 (or at least during the warmer months). When we visited, the sign said they close for midnight to 5am for the winter. They have a big tv and about at least 7-8 tables. They also have stool seats next to the entrance as well. The doughnuts are displayed in half-closed cases, which I really appreciated. I'm not a huge fan of some bakeries and doughnut places just leaving their breads and pastries out in the open for hours and hours. We tried the chocolate glazed doughnut and the red velvet doughnut, and they were both good. The doughnuts are softer/more moist in texture than Tim Horton's or Dunkin, and a lot less greasier than Paula's. The red velvet was on the sweeter side, but the chocolate glazed was just right.
