Great fall menu options. I enjoyed an apple crisp latte. One of the best flavors I've had recently. Tje offer baked goods and some bagel options. There is a large chalk board you can use along the wall. Some nice flowers in the window and games to play if you have little ones. The staff were all very friendly with quick service. read more

This spot provides great views of the canal. I love that they also have a selection of tea lattes to try. After chatting with the helpful barista, I decided on The Sherlock (London Fog), which is their in house made syrup consisting of earl grey and lavender. I'd definitely go back to try another one of their specialty lattes! read more

This is one of the best coffee shops in town. The drink is so comforting and friendly. I love their hot chocolate so much with its rich dark flavors. My family has loved their Coffee over the years. Their service is great I love how friendly they are to their customers making so many friends and regulars. The ambiance is like no other. They have an amazing chalk wall that has new drawings every time I come. They also have such a cool theme with octopus. My father and I one day come and got hot drinks and painted in there and they were so friendly letting us stay as long as we wanted commenting. I would highly recommend. read more

The three of us went here after we saw the Step Out Buffalo instagram reel and we got two identical flights: Nitro Cold Brew, Meeple, Rose Matcha, Sherlock. All three of us loved all four of the flavors, but agreed that Sherlock was the best. The location is very cute, but small so you may need to wait for a table. The ladies working there were very nice and super apologetic because the service was slow and they were getting overwhelmed. I don't think they expected their flights to be so popular. read more

Amazing Coffee shop right on the Canal in Lockport! Every time I'm in the area, I HAVE to stop here! Their coffee is FIRE!!! My go to is the Cold Brew with a shot of Hazelnut. Recently, I ordered an Iced PSL and it was the BEST I've ever had. The "pumpkin sauce" is house-made and it was extremely flavorful & DELICIOUS!!! I def would do the iced over the hot. I've tried many of their pastries, one being the Orange Cinnamon Roll and it was huge and very good. It had plenty of orange flavored icing on it and the inside had ribbons of orange throughout. They also have a stand at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market. Recently I had a Cold Brew there with a splash of the house-made vanilla....Delic!!! I've also had the pre-made cold lattes from the Elmwood Bidwell Farmers Market, they are to die for! Made perfectly! Don't forget to buy their coffee to make at home too! The coffee and espresso here are strong and flavorful and not for the faint at heart! read more

Had a phone interview which I was excited for, but the manager called me thirty minutes late and rushed me through all my answers. After, I was completely ghosted. Even my follow up message was ignored. Just very unprofessional and cold. I'd expected a local business to treat people a bit more kindly than that but I guess not. read more

I came on a busy Saturday and overheard they were short staffed. I had to wait over 30 minutes for my drink to be made, which I would've came back another time if I knew the wait time. I had a hard time deciding on what to order. Very large drink menu and they all sounded delicious. I ordered their special "pumpkin chai latte". It had a faint pumpkin taste to it, but it was still very good. They also had different pastries and baked goods to buy as well. They have a few tables on the inside, but it seemed that most people took their drinks to go. There was not a lot of room to wait for your drink to be made, so I recommend waiting outside. read more

At Steamworks, they just started what they call Friday Night Flights where you can sample a flight of four mini drinks from the week's special menu. When I saw this, of course I had to go... Flights are my jam; I love trying small amounts of different things so I have room to try more flavors/items. My friend and I split a flight as we were a tad bit sticker shocked to discover it was $17 for a flight of four drinks that I'd guess were around 4oz each. We made our selections from the menu of 9 options and headed to the counter. The staff was friendly, as I have always experienced when visiting. Nitro Cold Brew- my friend and I were under the (incorrect) impression with it being called nitro it would be bubbly. It was not. It had a nice coffee flavor to it and we both agreed we could drink it black. I'm not really even a super huge coffee drinker, do that's saying something. Cold Brew Kokonattsu Latte- Delicious caramel, coconut, mocha. This was yummy... More like how I would normally opt for a coffee beverage. All the drinks on the tasting menu were made with oat milk. I think using coconut cream for this instead of oat milk would really enhance the drink. I love coconut, so may make it too strong for those who do not. Cold Brew Dirty Chai Latte- Chai is pretty much my favorite kind of tea (not from a powder or premix concentrate), so this was my favorite. It has nice cinnamon, nutmeg and maybe cardamom spice (I'm not the best at specific spice identification) with the coffee flavors on the back end and was not too sweet. Tart Cherry Lemonade- We finished off our tasting with this. It was not too sweet, not too tart; a nice balance of the lemon and cherry. Sure to be refreshing on a hot summer day. I believe they have live music every Friday night too, so you can enjoy some soothing sounds along with your flight. read more

Such a cute coffee shop. I don't drink coffee, so I can only speak to their chai latte, but it was extremely tasty! The staff was friendly and quick with my order. My only disappointment was that their super cute seam pink octopus T-shirts were only available in a 3XL. Maybe next time! read more

I rode my bike up from Buffalo along the Erie Canalway Trail and found Steamworks just at the top of the hill down to past the "Flight of Five". It was still morning so I decided to get a coffee and a snack to fortify me for the ride back. This is right on the Canalway Trail with plenty of places to secure a bicycle. It's not a large place, but there are a few tables and a counter at which one can sit. If it had been just a bit warmer I'd probably just have sat outside, but it was nice to sit inside today. They offer many seasonal and specially flavored coffee drinks and teas if you're into that. I'm usually not, but I was feeling extravagant so I had a "Red Velvet Latte". I also got a boxed cinnamon roll. The service was very friendly and quick. They were also very accommodating when at the end of my visit I accidentally dumped the remains of my latte on the floor. They couldn't have been nicer about cleaning it up and saying it was no big deal. The latte was delicious and the cinnamon roll was just as it should be. (I would suggest to the ownership that having plates and forks to eat the cinnamon roll would be an improvement, but I made do with my fingers.) Important to cyclists, and others: They have a really clean and readily available (with purchase) bathroom. I will definitely make a point to stop there on future cycling excursions to/through Lockport. read more

One of the best cups of coffee I've had in WNY. Staff is always kind and friendly, and it's in a beautiful location!

Geaat little cafe right on the canal. Comfortable indoor seating as well as outside seating for the summer months. I love the theme of the shop, it is honestly what drew me in after I was only planning on ice cream down the road. I only ordered a cappuccino to go, but it was definitely solid. I wish I had gotten it in a regular cup to see how it looked in a real cup, but there's always next time. Update: We stopped by while driving through Lockport yesterday and it really made me wish I lived closer so I could go more often. They are doing takeout and fortunately there are many places along the canal to enjoy your coffee. We had a French Press and an iced "Meeple" coffee off of the specials menu. They were both great . What I wanted to mention here though is how impressed we were by the staff. They were super nice when we were in there. But while we were drinking our coffee on the canal, one of the girls brought my wallet out to me. I had gotten distracted by the stickers and left it on the counter. Thank you SO much for coming out to find me and being honest enough to return a wallet with cash and such in it. You saved me a huge headache and I'm beyond grateful! read more

The service here is just average not good but not bad. The location is really nice but, the coffee has just not been good a single time I've come here over the last couple years (about 5-6 times) we end up coming because they are the only place that is open on Sundays. The owners are very nice though I will add. read more

Before going to a family dinner this past holiday weekend, my boyfriend and I headed up to Lockport early so that we could visit the locks. Not being from the immediate area, he had never been. What a delight it was to find Steamworks Coffee nearby! He loves coffee shops and in particular, he is always looking for Nitro Cold Brew which Steamworks did offer. They also had several other very tempting espresso beverages available. The girl who took our our order was super friendly too. This is such a cute place with seating outdoors just across from the locks. Or, you could take your beverage for a walk along the canal. If I lived in Lockport, I'd definitely be a regular! read more

I'm writing this review from Steamworks, seated at a four top by the window overlooking the historic Erie Canal. It's Sunday afternoon. There are three people working the counter. That may seem excessive for this little small town coffee shop, but trust me, they needed the help! This place was seriously hopping when my friend and I first walked in here. There was one free table, and we quickly grabbed it before ordering. Since we ordered and received our coffees, it has cleared out a bit, but there are other people working in here, one reading, and a couple of girls chatting. If it starts to pick back up, the third worker will be warranted. If I lived in Lockport, this is the kind of place I'd hang out all the time. I'd come here to read my book club selections. I'd come to work. I'd come to write my Yelp reviews. I'd meet my friends for coffee and we'd solve the world's problems. I'd bring out-of-town guests, and they'd want a t-shirt and some other cute Steamworks souvenir to be able to take a piece of this coffee shop home with them. Steamworks isn't really new anymore, but they are somewhat new to me. I came for the first time a couple of days ago and couldn't wait to return. I live about thirty minutes away. I'm much closer to Starbucks and SPoT Coffee, but the vibe in this place is much better and worth the drive from East Amherst. Parking is easy and plentiful. The view is fantastic. You can even sit out back on a bench or at a small table if you'd rather that than the view of the canal. Or, take your coffee across the one-way street out front and sit on a bench right at the edge of the canal. If you want to get a few steps on your Fitbit, take your cuppa to go and check out the local scenery. And if you're still playing Pokemon Go, there are plenty of stops nearby to keep you busy while you caffeinate. read more

Very good coffee. Do try the bourbon barrel as a pour over. Nice accompaniments. Small, intimate, friendly. Reasonably priced for a high end cafe. It sits right on the historic Erie canal by some of the most magnificent locks in the whole system. The ambience is nautically themed, appropriately. I enjoyed the experience and will return. read more

I almost hate how many of my sweet spots Steamworks hit today. It's right on the Erie Canal. Brightly lit. Amazing, thematic atmosphere, bringing a modern approach to an industrial ship type of feel. It felt like I was in a less stressful, 100 years progressed version of the engine room from "Titanic". I went in on a mission though. I needed some new coffee beans for the house, so I wanted to try them in their purest form -- cold brew. So a cold brew I got & I was satisfied enough to get a bag of beans. They have a wide variety of options & definitely did their homework. Their mantra is "an amalgamation of old world techniques and contemporary understanding of the science behind what makes coffee amazing," and it shows. Steamworks humbly brags a deep-seated knowledge & love of coffee, making the perfect cup -- whether that's a pure shot of espresso or sweet treat salted caramel latte. The location, the friendly (nearly familial) service, the artwork, the seating area, the goodies -- props to Steamworks. read more

First time stopping in to Steamworks - even though I've been hearing its praises from co-workers for months. On this "steamy" day I tried the cold brew iced coffee. What flavor! This is not some watered down version of pre-made brewed beans. I also grabbed up a package of their Ethiopia Blend beans (roasted/packaged on 7/26 so you know they're fresh). Hoping our out-of-town hosts enjoy their little taste of Lockport coming their way (packed together with some goodies from @lakeeffecticecream practically next door). Steamworks Coffee is just what Lockport needs! As well as what I needed on this particular Tuesday morning! It's the perfect environment to get some work done and enjoy a super smooth locally roasted brew! Their latte and chai game is on point, with a fantastic London Smog on their specialty menu. The London Smog is very smooth, slightly sweet and has a really nice flavor profile. It's made with a house made lavender earl grey syrup and with an added shot of espresso to it for that nice caffeine kick, but still a super smooth flavor. I also had the Gibraltar which is simply some espresso and milk or a Cortado as you may know it from some other east coast coffeeshops. I like how they use the west coast name for a Cortado here...makes me feel like I'm in San Francisco or something :). Their tables are nicely crafted and great to park down and work for a while and while I haven't tried any of their baked goods, they looked delicious. One of the best and most integral parts of any coffeeshop aside from strong wifi and tasty coffee? A good playlist. Steamworks delivers. read more

My boyfriend and I drove about 35 mins from home to try Steamworks for the first time on a Friday at 2:30. We came to try their coffee flights as mentioned on their Facebook page. At first, they said they weren't serving the flights because of food waste (understandable, but it was advertised.) I mentioned my disappointment and the girl behind the counter was so kind, she made us a flight anyways! It was some of the best coffee and they had a great selection of flavors!! I wish Steamworks offered their flights more consistently because I would go back all the time. ((I would suggest calling ahead to be sure flights are available if these are the reason you're going)). Overall, they had a wide selection of tasty coffee beverages, great service, and it's a cute little coffee shop. read more

Cute little coffee shop with good strong coffee, good vibes and a nice variety of locally sourced baked goods. If you don't like your coffee strong be sure you have enough cream/milk/etc in there before you leave. :) They had dairy free muffin options, which I appreciated. It's nice that they support bakeries in the Lockport area. A few I wouldn't have known about but Steamworks lists them on their website.
