After seeing The Bean on social media my friend and I had to check it out. Since my first visit, Ive gone back a couple of times. Arguably I would say these are the best bagels in Buffalo. Now Im no bagel expert and dont know if Ive had a true Manhattan bagel but I do really like these bagels. What I like about these bagels, the fact that they aren't dense. I would hate to describe them as roll like, but they are lighter and more airy. I almost forgot to mention these bagels are BIG. Like side plate big. Also these bagels also come in my top flavors of plain, everything, sesame and rosemary salt. On my visits Ive ordered a breakfast sandwich each time, the first just bacon and the most recent a hearty sandwich that had bacon, sausage and Canadian bacon. My whole family always loves going into The Bean. The bagels are huge, and they are delicious. Their breakfast sandwiches could be a little more generous on meat, but that's my only judgement. Their coffee options are fantastic, their sweets are ON POINT! Staff is always patient and kind. If you're going on a weekend between like 930a and 11a, be patient. It's gonna be a while. I'm not buying the hype here. Unfortunately it's too inconsistent in terms of taste and flavor for me to go out of my way for a breakfast sandwich. Often times they use too much egg and it lacks seasoning or is overcooked and dried out. The bagels themselves are not authentic NYC as they push on social media. The bagels lack the crunch and chew you'd come to expect at any NYC delicatessen. The bagels are too bread like for my taste. I can get a better bagel at Wegmans. And it brings me to the coffee... it's "meh". I've tried to like this spot but I won't be trying anymore. Went here after going for a walk at Delaware park. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming with a dog-themed interior. Place is clean. Amazing staffs and had a great vibe. Reasonable prices. For $9 you can get a meat, egg, and cheese on a bagel (your choice) as big as your head. Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches but me and my partner ended up taking home the other after we saw how huge the portion was. Not only the bagel is HUGE, it was also soft and delicious. You can tell it is freshly made. The coffee was good, but I just wish the latte had more of a cream brûlée flavor. Wait time is not that long even they were busy. Ample of seating but they have outdoor seating if indoor isn't available. Great spot for meeting friends, getting work done or if you want a good breakfast. Will be back! read more

Couldn't be happier that this coffee shop has opened again, even if it's under a different name. But it definitely feels a lot like the old daily planet. I had a latte which I enjoyed. They have very nice mugs that they serve your drinks in if you stay to drink. They also have takeaway cups and I saw plenty of takeout business happening. There is tons of seating and a cute fireplace. I imagine they will expand their menu options (food wise, plenty of coffee options) at some point and that will be great. Street parking. read more

Having grown up in Long Island, I was craving a good bagel when I moved to Buffalo! Imagine my delight when I found out this spot opened up just a few minutes from my house. The bagels are amazing, a little more on the fluffy texture than chewy compared to the Long Island bagels I grew up with. Everything is made piping hot and fresh: make sure you come before noon because from what I've seen after being there twice, they run out of bagels by then! Also be prepared to wait 30min+ in line as it is a new hot spot in Buffalo, everyone is currently excited to check them out. The Bean did not disappoint! Came here on a Sunday morning, and while the line was long and it was quite busy in there, the efficiency behind the counter was top-notch. Did not take long at all to get our two breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and hot chocolate. You can see them making the bagels right in front of you. The breakfast sandwiches were fantastic. The bagels were so fresh and fluffy. Very generous sized. Finally, the dog theme in the restaurant just puts the cherry on top. Tried this cafe for lunch on a Friday and it was nice and busy. The space has a cozy, modern, crisp aesthetic and the photos of various pets from customers gives a homey feel to the place. I ordered a Rosemary Salt bagel toasted with cream cheese and a Crème Brûlée latte. Although busy, the wait time was not long at all. I loved the bagel, soft yet crispy and great flavor. Okay, so again. I really REALLY want to like this place, and when I had found out Dash's wasn't accepting orders I figured "Okay, maybe it was an off day the last time I was here" and went in to order my usual bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel with pepperjack...well that wasn't going to happen. When I ordered, I was informed that there were no everything bagels. As a creature of habit, I was a bit perturbed when they had said they only had Asiago bagels left. But I thought "let's give it a try, maybe it's time to try something new" but boy was I WRONG. It tasted almost sour(?) additionally the meat portion was definitely lacking, I actually opened my sandwich to see if there were any bacon on there and saw two miniscule pieces of bacon. I also did have a difficult time with my coffee lid, possibly user error. But I can say, this will sadly be my last attempt at this place. I just wanted a cozy place to walk to, but again. We waited roughly 10 minutes before our food was done, which is reasonable, but it took our drinks an extra 20 minutes. so by the time we got our drinks, our food was cold. My apple cider matcha tasted like straight up syrup. I love matcha and I literally threw it away after a few sips because it was so unbearably sweet. The sandwich was just about as good as it looks (not) The atmosphere is also so weird in there like the decorations are questionable and there are not good seating options. I wasted 40 dollars today and im so disappointed. do not waste your time and your money here. It was also only street parking which added stress and made for a long walk to and from the car. I left this review on google and got a nasty reply from the owner. I stand by everything I said. The time stamps ARE correct, the matcha DID taste like straight up syrup, and the parking WAS stressful. Ugh I am so sad to give this review but here we go... The line was pretty long, it took about twenty mins to get to the front of it, so we were very excited cause it had to be good. Inside had a very spot coffee vibe with lots of seating. When I looked to see what bagels they had, I was kind of disappointed. They were all savory and I like my breakfast sandwich on a blueberry or cinnamon. Small ding for that but not the biggest deal. Our order consisted of -Sausage Egg and Cheese on a plain bagel -Sausage Egg and Cheese on a rosemary salt bagel -Blueberry Muffin -Blueberry Muffin Latte -Salted Honeybun Latte The plain bagel felt more like a croissant but it was massive and all in all tasty. The rosemary salt bagel was a crime. It was just a plain bagel with raw rosemary sprinkled in the hole. I felt like I was eating a plant. The blueberry muffin was good but the drinks were another crime. No flavor whatsoever, just tasted like dark coffee and milk. I am so sad because everyone was so nice and we love to eat local. I know this sounds like a dumb complain but it was completely over powering and not what a BEC should be built like. The sandwich needs a sauce or something more to it. The bagels was very good and the cream cheese was very good, but the eggs were sad and mushy. I got a London Fog with Lavander. Thir was no foam, they put English Breakfast tea in which is incorrect and forgot the Lavander. I had to have them remake the drink and they informed me they only had decaffeinated Earl Grey tea which doesn't have as much flavor, but I agreed and tried it. Went here with high expectations because of the positive reviews and hype on social media but was disappointed. It was so expensive and overpriced. The latte was meh nothing special and I ordered iced but it was warm with ice on top. Bacon egg and cheese on Asiago bagel was okay not very seasoned or flavorful. The most unsettling thing was there was flies buzzing around literally EVERYWHERE. It made me concerned about cleanliness. They were crazy and flying all over us while we were trying to eat.
