I scheduled an appointment over-the-phone for my annual check-up. The front office staff were very polite and helpful. My appointment was with Dr. Yamam Almouradi. She went above and beyond to ensure quality, professional healthcare. She explained the procedures in language I could understand and was helpful in my comprehension of the various tests and images. Not only is Dr. Almouradi professional, but she's also very personable and caring; wanting me to appreciate the importance of my vision and how to ensure the care of it. After the check-up, she escorted me to the lobby and showed to the prescription glasses where Joe later took care of me. To sum up my experience with Dr. Almouradi--it was World-Class! My husband and I became patients of Brea Optometry last jyear when our original optometrist retired. Our annual appointments were scheduled for last week and we both received two separate texts from Brea Optometry requesting us to confirm our appointments with Dr. Almanza. The texts were sent to each of us one week prior to our appointments and the day before our scheduled appointments requesting that we confirm our appointments. We both confirmed the appointments and arrived at our scheduled time. When we went into the office the receptionist looked puzzled and asked what she could help us with. We told her that were there for our appointments with Dr. Almanza. We stated that we'd received two separate confirmation texts (four texts in total) from their office. She looked at the computer schedule and said she saw our appointments, but that Dr. Almanza was out of the office that day (Friday). My husband and I were both confused because of the multiple appointment confirmation text messages from their office. We also assumed that these messages meant that Dr. Almanza would be there for our appointments. Would it have been that difficult for the doctor's office to call us the week prior or the day before to reschedule our appointments if Dr. Almanza was unavailable? This in itself was very frustrating because my husband had taken time off from his busy work schedule for our appointments. It's even more complicated more by the fact that I am wheelchair-bound. Getting ready for appointments and getting transferred in and out of a car is not an easy task and is very fatiguing for both me and my husband. Brea Optometry office staff need to coordinate their calendars and appointments to confirm that the doctor who is scheduled for appointments will actually be in the office. I came to Brea Optometry because I was referred by a friend. I loved every minute of it! Here are the reasons why: They call/text you to confirm appts. I got there 35 minutes early and was hanging out in the parking lot because I didn't want to be too early. I got a text message stating they are running ahead of schedule and I was welcome to come in earlier. Nice! Unexpected pleasant surprise. When I went in the team at the front were very friendly and informative. Office is beautiful, clean and welcoming. I waited a few minutes and I was taken back for the pre exam with Cynthia. She was so nice and she explained everything she was doing. Next up, meet with Dr. Almanza. I cannot say enough positive things about her. Professional, knowledgeable and you can tell she really loves her profession. She seems to genuinely care about her patients. Then off to get fitted for frames. This girl (and I am so sorry I didn't catch her name) also adorable, friendly and knowledgeable, knows her stuff. I told her the look I wanted and she instantly had 2 frames in my hand that she suggested. Both were exactly what I was looking for but I picked the one that really captured my personality. She nailed it! Prices are good, and you can't beat the quality or experience this team has! I'm bringing my husband back next month! Love this place! read more

After my first visit to Brea Optometry, I can see why they get such high ratings and positive reviews. The office staff was prompt in greating me as soon as I entered and was very helpful in getting me checked in and back in the office for my examination. A very thorough and detailed series of diagnostic tests were completed by one staff member while my glasses I brought in with me were processed to check the prescription of them was completed by another staff member (she even took the time and care to clean all three pair for me). Once I was in the exam room, Dr. Almataz came in immediately to perform the examination of my vision. She was also very polite and professional. She completed a very thorough examination and explained everything she was doing and the results with me. After my examination, I was quickly checked out and given a receipt showing the exact details of the cost associated with my examination including insurance coverage and my copay. There was no high pressure sales pitches given to me in an attempt to purchase any new glasses from them. I highly recommend Brea Optometry for all of you and your family's vision needs. read more

Normally I never write a review after unpleasant experience, but when i went to Brea Optometry for my daughter's eye exam, front receptionist asked whether my insurance is valid and seemed to check online to look up my account. When I asked for eye exam and possibly new pair of glasses, she just said that i have to pay for new pair since my daughter got one last year. After the exam, I was asked to pay for the exam for $109, the receptionist who took me in at first was sitting right next to me but when she didn't interject to clarify, I didn't want to make a fuss and just paid $109. Even though I should have asked about the exam cost, I think she should have mentioned that I would pay $109 for the exam, because at my other optometrist, I paid $40 for the exam last month. It's not that I overpaid for the eye exam, it's the receptionist attitude which I didn't care for; in any case, I'm never going back to this place for inconsiderate attitude and negligence of your duty of care... read more

They have a huge selection of glasses and sunglasses to choose from and they are accommodating to your tastes and needs. I never made an appointment or got an eye exam. I called to make an appointment for a contact exam only because that's what I wear. I don't do eye glasses. The person on the phone told me that I would have to get 2 exams! Why!?!?? I asked how was that going to work with my eye insurance because my insurance only covers one exam (glasses or contacts). The person took my eye insurance information and claimed not to be able to find it. They wanted me to make an appointment anyways. I declined. No way was I going to get there and be stuck with an outrageous bill to get my eyes checked. Needles to say I made an appointment with another place. Super easy. They did the contact exam (ONLY) and were able to find my insurance no problem. Sad Brea Optometry charges patients for multiple exams they don't need. read more

On my lunch break I searched for a optometrist near my office. I found this office and as I was reading the reviews and I seriously thought that they paid for their reviews. I could not believe that they get 5 stars from everyone. So before I went into this "5 star" eye doctor I wanted to take a look and if I liked what I see make an appointment. I went in and got greeted right away by a very very sweet gentlemen. I didn't get his name :/ but he was very nice and professional . I told him that I was looking around for a new eye doctor he said I could be seen that moment if I liked too. I took the opportunity since I seriously am desperate for new glasses. I filled out my new patient packet and got called in right away. The technician did the basic test needed prior to seeing the Doctor. Their systems are up to date . There was a few I've never seen before which made me feel comfortable about getting actual results. The technician was very nice as well and knew what he was doing. He then asked to see my glasses. He saw how horrible my glasses were and said "Wow let me adjust these for you really quick.." He went into the lab and adjusted my glasses I seriously wanted to hug him lol my glasses haven't felt this comfortable since 3 years ago when I bought them lol. Then finally I got to meet the Doctor which was the sweetest person ever. She was very nice and patient. She made me feel I'm finally going to get a good diagnosis. She pulled up digital pictures that were taken of my eyes. Never seen such thing! It was amazing though. After my exam was done I went through their amazing selection of glasses. I promised to write this in May. Me Bad. Sorry. So we had our first-ever less-than-stellar experience with Costco -- going back to when "our Costco" was called "Price Club" -- that Costco bought out in 1993. 21 years of Costco lust. Technically, I suppose, the less than stellar experience was from a vendor of Costco's -- an optometrist with a business presence within the walls of our cherished Costco Store in La Habra, CA. Spoiler Alert - I'll wager that if Dr. Almanza was the Costco Doc, that she has the business skills, professionalism and credentials to transform that incompetent operation into a huge success. But alas, Dr. Almanza is located a full city over in a stand alone private practice with some other --apparently outstanding doctors-- so let this review be all about the Cool Eye Docs at Brea Optometry! Following my disappointment with attempting to book my bride, Sherri, an optometry appointment at Costco to get a long overdue eye exam and some new glasses for her slight nearsightedness, I turned to Yelp. Cheers to the power of the Yelp reviewers. No business can have a 5 star reputation - people will trash a good business over some everyday miscommunication, but with nearly 20 reviews (weighted mostly 4-5 stars) I dove in and read many of them. After 2 pages I was comfortable. I was SOLD. I called them. They answered the phone. SHOCK! Silly you say? Read my review about Dr. Soo at Costco. I asked if I could make an appointment for my wife ---who works at the Fullerton School District near CSUF--- any weekday about 1:30 PM because that would dovetail perfectly with her driving home schedule... "No problem" was the response. We scheduled her for next possible time slot of 1:30 that happened to fall the following week on a Friday. The exam was double the cost of the Costco exam (Costco's lost-leader exam fee is likely way low for most Optometrists I suspect) but that was no issue whatsoever. Moreover, the Brea exam was, as I expected, FAR MORE complete and thorough (I approached a person leaving the eye exam room at Costco for a detailed run down a couple weeks back). So far -- so good. Stellar service on the phone. So far they've got 5 stars with me already. It's theirs' to lose. But, they did not. This is third party review from here forward, but in my defense, I quizzed my wife immediately upon the conclusion of her visit with Dr. Almanza. It turns out that Diane Almanza really is awesome, personable, professional and funny too. I won't share the funny story about eyes becoming a bit drier as we age - but it was a terrific laugh for me. Chair Side Manner: 5-Stars! Sherri was immediately put at ease, received super service, a solid eye exam over almost a full hour, all her questions were answered, and an Rx for the glasses we knew she could benefit from. Diane Almanza treated my boss lady with the utmost professionalism. Wifey was totally impressed. Dr. Almanza suspected that I had sent my wife there on a clandestine recon mission to check out the place for me. Cute doc! Maybe she's a little on target. My 12-year old Lasix is still holding true, but reading is more difficult as my focus eye muscles aren't so strong as I age so I do use off-the-shelf reading glasses --- "cheaters" --- as Dr. Almanza calls them (too cute). So sure, I will likely have a first-hand review in the coming months. Seriously... I can see 20:20 across the room and my heart was breaking that my wife was seeing our Costco hi definition 40-inch bedroom screen "fuzzy." That's JUST WRONG! Sherri concluded her oral review to me by commenting that an optician and the office manager, Poonam, was also extremely helpful after the eye exam offering coherent and useful advice about selecting frames and lenses. Kudos all around... Our family is totally on board with recommending Brea Optometry to anyone searching out an Orange County eye doc. Stellar outfit. Classy people. The only thing they need to improve on is communication. Patients need to know how long he wait time would be and be updated what is next. They lacked organization and wasn't very proactive.
