Petite Filet (5 oz)
Mariah W.

This place was highly recommended to me by multiple SF locals as a must-try hidden gem, particularly for the famous prime rib, excellent service, and vintage vibe. Boy, I'm glad I listened. We were late to dine so unfortunately, the signature dish was sold out, however I ended up having one of, no exaggeration, the best steaks I've ever had. I started with a crispy, refreshing Caesar salad, and onto the petit filet mignon smothered in bernaise, cooked to perfection, juicy and indulgent, paired with buttery garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert, creme brûlée, bursting with cold, creamy, vanilla bean-laden goodness under a crisp, toasty crust. Every bite of this meal was incredible. Vibe of the restaurant was a mix of an old school steakhouse and cozy pub, with moody dark red lighting, intimate seating, wood and leather surfaces, and walls of antique artwork. Every seat in the house was full even at 9pm on a weeknight, giving credit to its popularity. Staff was upscale but not stuffy or pretentious. Our waitress was so chill and joked around with us a lot while still providing top of the line service. Couldn't recommend this place enough. This was a meal I'll never forget.

Walked in on a Tuesday evening for dinner at 8:30. The place was pretty packed but we only had to wait a couple minutes to be seated. We sat inside by the exit door. The place has dim red lighting and is super date night coded. Service was okay this night, but they were busy. We each ordered the petite filet and asked for the sides to be all veggies. I usually get mashed potatoes, which is really yummy! My friend and i ended up ordering another filet mignon to share as the petite filet was not enough. I would suggest getting the 10oz filet mignon per person. We each got 2 glasses of the Cabernet Sauvignon, which paired really well with the steak.

I absolutely love this place. It feels like an old-style tavern where you can truly enjoy a great conversation alongside an exceptional meal. There's something about the ambiance that makes you want to slow down and savor every moment. They always have different specials on the menu, which keeps the experience exciting every time you visit. One of my absolute favorites is the escargot, served in a rich garlic butter sauce simply incredible and full of flavor. The bread is served warm, which is always a lovely touch, and if you're into salads, the burrata caprese is a must. Fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced. A charming spot for good food, good vibes, and even better company.

A good burger, nice ambiance, and great service. I really enjoyed my meal here. We were able to walk in and get a table for two inside on a Thursday. I didn't feel rushed at all, and got to enjoy my burger and a glass of wine. The restaurant is dimly lit and pulls really red on camera, but not in a way that feels overly romantic in person.

This is a must stop and have a great dinner when you are in San Francisco. It is just so perfect. Now, this is not super fancy food, but it is fine dinning and the best steak place. You will love everything about it. Make a reservation. You really need to do that. It is crowded on weekends. It is great for a date night, it is just so pretty, but it is also family friendly. The prices are what you expect in San Francisco, but it is what it is. And it is great. They have great steaks, made just the way you want and their prime rib is wonderful. They have the best sides. Try their green beans, which have the nicest touch of garlic or their creamed spinach. All of their desserts are great. It is comfortable and you are never rushed. The service is the best. You will love it.

This place is a must visit. The ambiance is made for a great date night spot, the red and dim lighting really sets the mood. The service is great. The food is delicious. We got the filet mignon 10oz with rice and green beans. The filet was tender (ordered medium rare), the rice was nice and buttery, the green beans were made with garlic and perfectly seasoned with salt. I would absolutely order this again. We also ordered the prime rib, which was a little fatty than the filet cut but still very good. Comes with creamed spinach and mash potatoes. I can't wait to come back already! Totally worth every dollar.

The ambiance and setting inside brazen head is super nice with the red and dim lighting. There was no wait when I came here on weekdays. I got the seasonal spiked peppermint hot chocolate with schnapps recently and it was so good. The flavor is good and the chocolate isn't overpowered by the schnapps. I do wish they had more vegetarian options here and even the spaghetti without meatballs cannot be made vegetarian since the sauce is made with beef. I got the impossible burger since it was the one no meat option and it was delicious. The impossible meat and the bread and sauce are so good and I'm glad I tried it. The mashed potatoes are also good though could use some seasoning. I also got the tomato burrata appetizer and wasn't a fan so probably would not get it again. The service here is great as well!

My 1st visit took place during the pandemic where they were offering take-out, which I remembered the food being very tasty. Fast forward 5 years later, the food is still tasty. My most recent visit took place a few Saturday nights ago and it was a lovely experience dining outside in their parklet. I didn't have a reservation and luckily, there were plenty of seating available outside at 6pm, which was for the better because inside can get quite loud. Full service offered inside and outside. I never felt ignored as different staff stopped by. I opted for the petit filet, which was just the right amount of meat. I did wish that there were a few more green beans and a little more mashed potatoes as the sides were a little scanty (just my opinion). Prices are fair given the rising costs of everything. Street parking can be difficult, but not impossible. Looking forward to my next visit at Brazen Head. #23/2025

The Impossible Burger

Brazen Head is one of those hidden neighborhood spots that instantly feels like home. Tucked away on a quiet corner in Cow Hollow, this dark little spot oozes old-school charm--like it's been serving locals for a hundred years. It's dark and seems old, but with eighties remodel ceiling lights. The menu is focused and comforting, packed with hearty, meat-forward classics that hit the spot. When you are seated, there is are two forks and a steak knife to prepare you for your dinner. You'll find salads and appetizers to start, followed by entrées that come with your choice of mashed or baked potato and seasonal vegetables which are brocolli or green beans depending on the entree. For vegetarians, there is an impossible burger served with creamy mashed potatoes. It is a good size portion 1/2 cup scoop, and not overloaded. There is also an appetizer garden salad, but it's not a meal size so order an entree. Everything else has meat. There are no vegan options here, but that's to be expected. Everything feels simple and satisfying. Don't skip dessert--it's the perfect finish. The wood bar adds to the nostalgic vibe and there's a small TV for those who want to turn their backs from the bar to catch a game without the loud sports-bar scene. There's also a parklet on the side for outdoor seating. Please don't arrive in hurry because the service is off. It's meant to be cozy and dark and intimate. They want you to go slow which is nice, but I asked for water three times. The busser took away plates, and I still didn't have water. Maybe it wasn't their night, but we arrived a little after 5pm on a Sunday and it wasn't that busy.

Ceasar salad w/ anchovies

Saw this restaurant advertised on Check please. Parking is very challenging, but I really enjoyed my simple meal. We had ceasar salad ( mine with Anchovies ).... we had the roasted garlic & cheese appetizer. Petite filet minion. And a clam chowder special.... all dishes were mild flavored and tasty. Ended the evening with apple crisp & bread pudding. No complaints.... warm service and nice dark relaxed vibe. The drink wasn't very strong, but since Ì don't drink often... it was perfect for me. Warm regards, Sharine

I've been here multiple times but finally got around to writing a review. Brazen head has a very intimate and cozy atmosphere with dim lighting. Service is always attentive and very welcoming. People primarily come here for their martinis and NY strip, but in my mind they are known for their bread pudding! Honestly can't go wrong- I usually get the Chicken Marsala (bc I'm not a big NY strip girl), a Cosmo or martini and then I cannot leave the establishment without their amazing bread pudding! Hopefully you are sensing a theme lol

Petite Filet

Old-school, cozy steakhouse vibes--very small inside, but there's a bar and some outdoor seating too. They don't take reservations, so be ready for a bit of a wait. Prices are super reasonable! We spent $168 for two people, which included a bottle of wine, two apps, two entrées, and dessert. The standout was the petite filet--cooked perfectly medium rare with great flavor. On the flip side, the meatballs were a bit dry, and the French onion soup lacked depth. The lobster ravioli came in a light sauce, but unfortunately, the lobster tasted overly fishy. Now the bread pudding? Absolutely amazing. Warm, served with ice cream, and packed with apples and raisins--it totally stole the show. Overall, I'd 100% go back for the steak and that bread pudding--but probably skip the rest.

Linda H.

Packed and lively. Went with their prime rib which was good with the rice! Great place to go after or before drinks! Food comes out fast and it's hearty!

I do enjoy the traditional American steak houses but it seems some you will have to dress up in a three piece suit just to dine in. Blind Butcher is more of a casual steakhouse where you will see people wearing tie dye shirts and others just wearing casual wear dinning in. Inside is a bit dim and has a bar and some seating. I started off with the lollipop lambs which came with cherry tomatoes and they were delicious and not gamey and so tender. If you had a blind test you wouldn't know it was lamb and would guess more likely it would have been beef steak. Then I got the Truffle Lobster Mac & Cheese and it was so cheesy like some on my social media feed in SF. It was tasty and a little rich. The main star of the meal was the filet mignon. It was juicy and so soft and it had so much flavor. I then washed it down with glasses of Balletto Pinot Noir and Lillie's Pinot Noir on repeat for Don Juan Pinot Noir. We came to the Palm Court at RH San Francisco for a special treat for our wedding anniversary…read more Let's talk about the atmosphere and ambiance for a little bit. Coming in, you'll see the unique structure that RH is located in. This is very obvious as this building stands out within the neighborhood of warehouses. The neighborhood doesn't feel like it's located in the best parts of San Francisco. Keeping that in mind once you are inside, it makes you feel like you have time traveled back to a house within the Roman period. With a small water fountain in the front, it showcases the aspirations of where RH wants its customers to feel when owning one of their products. With the basement and third floor being RH product based, down the hallway is where the restaurant was located. It can be tricky if the attendants weren't around but they quickly pointed us toward the right direction to where the restaurant is located. Since we were here for dinner on a reservation, they seated us fairly quickly. There were palm trees that's very visible from inside the restaurant which gave you the feeling that you're in an indoor outdoor space. The seating I gotta tell ya, it's an extremely unique experience. There's literally a fountain in the middle of the restaurant and unlike most restaurants where seating are in some type of order, the seats are set where it surrounds the palm trees throughout. Ok, enough of how cool this place looks, here's what we got: 1. Prosciutto & Delice Board - (4 out of 5) The board came how you would expect. The bread paired with the cheese were delicious, same with the deli meat and grapes. I did feel it was slightly underwhelming given how much bread it had. This dish seems to be made for a larger group in general then it was for us, a family of three. I would have much preferred a slightly smaller loaf and more add-ons to the board. 2. Mini Lobster Rolls with Caviar - (4 out of 5) The caviar they've placed on top of the lobster rolls were handsome in portion. The size of the mini lobster rolls though are really small. I know, it says "mini" on the menu but seriously, it is really really tiny. The lobster itself tasted fresh rightfully seasoned with the buttered and toasted bread, yum! 3. Grilled Asparagus - (5 out of 5) Nothing to see here, they tasted fine lol. 4. Honey Glazed Salmon - (5 out of 5) From the appearance, it looks like the honey glazed salmon is burnt. However, once you cut into them and give it a bite, it is well seasoned and is extremely soft. The tenderness of the salmon tells me that they have master this dish down to a tee. Combined with a small portion of mash potatoes, a definite must try for any salmon fans. 5. Sweet Potato Fries - (4 out of 5) Sweet potato fries, I mean who can resist them at a restaurant like this? Yum! 6. Whole Grilled Branzino - (5 out of 5) The branzino was cooked in a similar fashion like the salmon. With the right amount of olive oil mixed in, the taste is as tender as ever while not being too strong in its seasoning. 7. Caramelized Banana Split - (5 out of 5) The caramel sugar on top of the banana is similar to what you would expect in the same fashion where a creme brulee would have it. Combined with the three scoops of vanilla ice cream is hard to resist at the end of our meal. 8. Service - (5 out of 5) Our waiter was top notch. He came around often and was friendly to chat with. My wife has a tendency to drink a lot of liquids during a meal and most of the times we had to flag people down in other restaurants on refills, not our waiter here! I think he kept coming back so much to fill her water that she had to tell him that she's good lol! My overall experience inside the Palm Court at RH has been excellent. You can tell RH has invested heavily to showcase why their stuff cost the way it does and this transforms to the restaurant as well. If you ask me what type of restaurant I would place the Palm Court at, I would say I categorize it as a place where the wealthy congregate for a nice brunch. It's not formal dining nor is it casual, it sits right in the middle as a restaurant with style. If you enjoy architecture and ambiance, this is not one to miss. The food is great but the menu can definite expand in my opinion. Give it a shot the next time you're close by, chances are you'll probably experience something more than you have imagined. At least that's what it was for us lol.

Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

Wow this place was so amazing! Not only were the servers so friendly, kind, and accommodating but…read morethe food was also incredible. I loved the decor all around the restaurant with adorable cow art and a very clean feel. The servers and hosts were coming over to chat with us and just made us feel so welcome and special. From the second you walk in until the second you leave you are in good hands. It's also right across from the train so it's super easy to get there! I don't normally like horseradish, but the burger came with the perfect amount of horseradish where it tasted very fresh and added a good burst of flavor without being overwhelming! The fries were delicious and crispy. 10 out of 10 food, service, and environment. I would give them more stars if I could.

A charming little bistro inspired by the Marlowe cows, I'm assuming, managed to stun us with several memorable dishes. The warm deviled eggs were an excellent start. Savory yet delicate enough to not weigh us down right at the beginning of our meal. The horseradish aioli wasn't for me, but I can see its appeal for a certain audience. You give me a Calabrian chili sauce and it's guaranteed to make me happy and this shrimp with sweet corn was no exception. Again, light but a punchy flavor that was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the different dishes we tried but the real standout of the night was the pork tenderloin with chorizo and peaches. The sweetness from the peaches somehow managed to enhance the flavor of the chorizo. This dish gives you a bold, savory and sweet bite all together but still won't have you feeling super heavy. The portion size is perfect. Im hoping to return soon for another exquisite meal.

I brought my mom on a day trip up to SF to watch The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX at the Metreon. We had…read morealready ate a nice brunch at Kantine before the show. I wanted to take her to one more nice place before heading back home. Chef Tyler Florence's Miller & Lux next to the Chase Center in Mission Bay seemed like the best option. Parking was a bit challenging, as the spots across the street from Miller & Lux were five minute passenger loading only after 6pm. So I had to park in the stadium garage, which took about 10 minutes to find a spot and walk all the way back to the restaurant. From the moment we were escorted upstairs from the bar area, the service was top notch. Very congenial and accommodating. More importantly, my mom felt well-taken care of by the staff. They gave us our choice of a central booth or smaller table next to the expansive window overlooking Mission Bay. As we are both light eaters, we decided to share an order of the Filet Mignon and Tableside Caesar. After the soufflé-like bread puff and butter appetizer, the salad specialist rolled up his cart next to our table. He got busy mixing together mustard, Worcestershire sauce, shaved Parmesan, and several other ingredients then tossed it with neatly trimmed lettuce. Finally, he topped each salad with candied Meyer lemon, more shaved Parmesan, thin croutons and plump anchovies. There was also lemon zest dashed around the rim of the plate. I ate each leaf while instead of cutting it. Seemed easier that way. It had a nice balanced taste and was one of the better Caesar salads that I've had. The Filet Mignon was a bit rarer than the medium rare we requested. It had almost an Akami tuna like texture inside, which is not what you'd expect from beef. Possibly some aging broke it down to make it that smooth. They were very accommodating to take it back and fire it on the grill a little longer. It came back with the perfect amount of doneness. The horseradish sauce we added gave each bite a nice cream and spicy kick. We had an ode to the now extinct Orange Julius' signature flavor, orange and cream in the form of a soft serve sundae topped with a sugary macaroon and tart tangerines. It definitely brought back some memories. Thanks to the staff for making dinner for me and my mom a pleasant and enjoyable experience with their hospitality. For an upscale steakhouse and seafood establishment with exceptional service, Miller & Lux is a great option in the City.

We were greeted by the sommelier who opened up the wine bottle we brought and also made some recommendations. She also brought over the champagne cart and I started the evening with a glass of the Collet Brut which was crisp and refreshing. A perfect palate cleanser to start off with the appetizers. The complimentary pop over is still one of the most delicious treats ever! It was brought over with a classic butter and a flavored butter that were just to die for. Now of course, the caesar salad is still a must here!! Prepared tableside this is part show, part experience, and full flavor bomb. I love watching the dressing come together and the freshness of every ingredient being used. Just the aroma of the olive oil and parmesan cheese is amazing. The Caesar salad was dressed to perfection and perfectly crisp! Also got the oysters, because they were an absolute knock out the last time we were here. And still one of the best! It is quite literally the cleanest and freshest oyster I've ever had. Our waitress did an amazing job of explaining the whole menu in great detail. For dinner entree, we went with the ribeye, served with bone marrow to split between 2 with a side of the mac & cheese and accompanied with creamed horseradish to give the steak an extra kick. To be honest, that steak needs nothing extra. It is "melt in your mouth" tender and extremely flavor. I love the addition of the bone marrow because it enhances the richness of the steak. The mac & cheese is also very indulgent and rich. We were way too full for dessert so we went with a ball of the espresso gelato and were given complimentary carrot cake bites which were soooo gooodddd. I wish I wasn't full because they're pastry chef is the best! Hands down the place for a 5-star lux dining experience!
