It's a great lounge for a night out. They have amazing whiskey selection, the bartenders are very knowledgeable and you can ask them any questions that you might possibly have. I tried old fashioned - and it was by far the best old fashioned I have ever tried. It was perfectly balanced. I also tried their penicillin which was good but a little too smokey for my taste. We ordered couple of appetizers that included selection of cheese and spread with sourdough bread. I enjoyed the spread that had selection of hummus and babaghanoush. The cheese plate was interesting but didn't really pair well with the drinks I ordered. We came in on a Friday night and had to sit at the bar as they had a lot of reservations, so if you want to sit at a table, definitely make a reservation beforehand. Walking in it's like a library to spirits! Rich leather chairs, nice lights that set the mood w a yellow ish hue and you look around the walls and all you see is floor to ceiling spirits. I love the Brandy Library! This is officially my favorite bar in NYC bc it's so classy and the drinks are absolutely delicious. The bar reminded me of a museum with bottles upon bottles of spirits on display. The service we received from the bartenders was top notch. I had the Magic Carpet first and it was literally the most perfect cocktail for me. It consisted of singani, elderflower, and champagne. I had to stop and pace myself to not drink it so fast. Then, the bartenders recommended my second cocktail and it was a creamy lavender one that I really liked too. They also gave us complimentary crème brûlée and raspberry pana cotta. I went here while I was in New York. It's located in the Finance District in a nice area. Lot of drink options and the menu is basically a book. The dim lights and nice jazz music made for a great atmosphere and ambiance. I was here in the early evening so I got the post work rush. Would definitely recommend and would back. I emailed the team at Brandy Library for a holiday gift certificate and Shawn helped me out. He was prompt responding to my emails and had it in the mail quickly. We made a reservation for Saturday night and had a very good time. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the extensive liquor selection and took our preferences into consideration when making suggestions. The ones he suggested varied in price point, which was much appreciated because our goal was to try new ones that we liked enough to buy a bottle of later, and it would have been disappointing to fall in love with one that is rare and/or extremely expensive. So communicate to your waiter what you like and dislike and watch them work their craft! I was feeling a cocktail so I ordered the Acapulco Gold spiked with rum. It was delicious! I would describe it as a creamy, boozy tropical shake. The only constructive criticism I have is that it took 20-25 minutes for us to flag our waiter down when we were ready for the check because he disappeared for a little while. I would definitely return but consider sitting at the bar next time where the staff is most present. read more

Came here after dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. Walked in on a Tuesday night around 10pm without a reservation. There were seats at the bar and tables available. The menu is extensive. We got two cocktails: The Musket and Tijuana No and enjoyed both. Told the bartender it was my friend's birthday and he gave us two free glasses of champagne, which was so kind of him. Hands down, if you like whisky, scotch, brandy, please visit here. Obviously, needless to say, things are expensive, but great things cost money! What can you do! This line of liquor is extremely personal so there is nothing I can recommend. I did try their musket and Negroni before starting with some Dalmore 15. Also tried their sherries Malt tasting flight. Had their cheese breads and they threw in some just like that. Thank god they have nibbles! Overall, service is good. They keep refreshing your distilled water if you offer the flights. Brandy Library is a swanky brandy, whiskey and scotch bar and lounge with amazing ambiance. The library shelves are filled with bottles which seem to actually be the stock used in serving you, which I think is pretty cool. They have food as well but food/drink prices are definitely geared towards sponsored corporate events. They taste good though and certainly worth shelling out for, for a great experience. Had a WONDERFUL time at the Brandy Library this past Saturday. We had reservations for four and were early , yet seated right away. The vibe is cozy, classy and very New York. I really like that the age is 25 and over to enter as lately I've noticed people taking toddlers to bars which I am not a fan of. We ordered different drinks, wine, martinis, a spritz and brandy. All were delish. Food for the evening was the lamb puffs, sushi and the sliders. All superb. Service was top notch. It was a fab experience all around. Brandy Library has the appearance of a stately gentleman's library but with books replaced by fine whiskey bottles. And while BL features some food, it's predominantly an upscale liquor and cocktail bar. Tony and I visited BL tonight for the first time--a stopover on our way to dinner. We were pleased with everything from the small bites we ordered to the drinks to the service! And the fancy, old school interior helped amplify the charm. If you are intimidated by places like this you are not alone, it can be overwhelming to see a menu with hundreds of difference spirits. Luckily, the bartender was really friendly and super knowledgeable about the vast collection of liquors they carry.... and she was eager to make recommendations and talk to us about their collection. This was great since we were looking to expand our whiskey horizons and try some new spirits. We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a gathering with a few friends or a date night pre-dinner cocktail. RACISM ON THE ROCKS - We came to the Brandy Library for my bachelor party expecting to have a great time and spend money. We were greeted by a man who was incredibly rude, patronizing, and disrespectful. What should have been a great time divulged into pain, discomfort, and a perpetuation of racist hatred that plagues our country to this day. The manager, who's name we later found out is Shawn, started our conversation by accusing us of violating a reservation policy despite not citing anything specific and being ultimately being proved inaccurate. We were the only people of color in the space and it was very clear that we were being singled out. He intentionally split our party so that we would, in his own words, "leave quickly, its a psychological move". He rushed us to our seats and told our waiter to "watch out for us". I sat in the back with a few of my groomsmen and did my best to enjoy the incredible selection of whiskey. As we were sitting and talking, a manager came over to us and asked us to quiet down even though we were speaking at the same volume as our white neighbors. The wait staff was impeccable, Liam was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Alexandra was very sweet and I appreciated her advocacy for our party. The whiskey was incredible as well. As we left, One of my groomsman attempted to kindly speak to Shawn and shake his hand in a last ditch effort to show kindness to a man who has treated us so poorly. Shawn looked my groomsman up and down, scoffed, and walked away. I hope the Brandy Library takes note of this and works to make their establishment a place where all types of people are welcome. A place where we are not judged based on the color of our skin, but based on the content of our character. read more

Upfront, my review has nothing to do with the exquisite drink selection provided here. My review has to do with the way in which my party was spoken to when we walked into the space for our reservation. Primarily we took great offense with the immediate tone of condescension we were met with when speaking with Shawn, the general manager. He made an immediate assumption that our group would be too loud or animated for the space when he commented saying "Your group is too large to sit together, you have to be split up BUT you can't move back and forth to chat with each other." As a group of men in mostly our 30's the comment was weirdly juvenile and inappropriate. Shawn's attitude made our group feel unwelcome in this space purely because we didn't seem to fit the expected culture. In layman's terms because we were a group of black & brown men, Shawn was clearly upset and uncomfortable with our presence in the space. His attitude and demeanor was completely different with the white patrons that entered. He managed to make extra accommodations & even polite smiles with them, something that seemed unavailable to our group. Despite his attitude, we chose we would stay and enjoy our time as we had planned. Shawn's racism would not be rewarded with our absence but instead would be further frustrated by our presence. We would have dismissed his remarks because our focus was to enjoy ourselves but Shawn was bold enough to continue to make comments that shocked and surprised us. When asked by his staff to allow us to sit together so they could accommodate another large group Shawn refused saying about our group "Don't worry, we'll have the space soon. They won't be here long, that's why I split them up. It's a physiological move." He said this with a smile on his face and a smug chuckle. Meanwhile the other portion of our group was told "we don't do that here" when they laughed together at a joke while enjoying their drinks together. Shawn picked a specific waiter to attend to our groups, the servers appears visible disturbed and confused by his behavior. Unfortunately, we did end up leaving to find a better space for us to celebrate and drink together but we could not move on without make sure people know this: Shawn Rhynehart is a disgustingly rude, disrespectful pig who perpetuates racist ideals. A racist like him has no place managing such a beautiful space meant to be enjoyed by all. read more

The drinks: Delightful! They have so many different kinds of flights and so many of them tasted great. I tend to prefer cocktails and they have such a lovely menu of them. The drinks are PRICEY, so be ready (like $23-$30) but honestly, when you're in the mood to really indulge, SO worth it. My recs: Lavender 16 and Pods-de-vie. The vibe: A beautiful space! The brandy bottles on the wall were so cool and created a wonderful light color throughout the space. Large leather chairs make it very cozy. The patrons lean more old white men in large groups, so very different than a typical cocktail bar. But the space is wide enough that I didn't feel suffocated by them. Our group was young and louder and I didn't feel out of place at all. The service: So great. Our server Yuki was absolutely wonderful and knew everything about the menu. I asked for a specific style of cocktail and she immediately know what to recommend (so spot on). She was also able to describe all the different flights and answered any questions we had. Nice interior and well-made drinks don't totally make up for lackluster service. Friday night me and a friend decide to head here and get a few drinks. No reservations. Host offers us seats at the bar although there appeared to be tables inside and outside. Whatever, we accept and sit at the bar. Mistake. Because there's only one bartender and one barback and they're not interested in helping us. They prioritized other parties. We order food and drinks. Oysters come with no silverware and no napkins. Cannot get their attention to bring us silverware. Pork buns never arrive, so we flag the bartender down to ask what happened. He says he was confused and never put the order in. Puts it in. We wait. We want another round. Bartender nowhere to be found. Finally get to put in another drink order. We wait. They come, we drink. We want the check. At a supposedly fine establishment such as this we expect more prompt and attentive service - regardless if we sit at the bar or at a table. Drinks were good, but very expensive. Sidecar properly made. Armagnac with hazelnut syrup was delicious. We never saw the drinks being made. Not sure if this guy was even the bartender, he kept going from place to place. Overall pretty disappointing experience this time, especially since I've been here a few other times in the past (maybe 7-10 years ago, though) and had better times. read more

Awesome atmosphere of a bar. The decor is walls and walls of different whiskey which is so cool. We were seated downstairs which was cozy, yet spacious. We ordered the puffs with cheese to snack on and guac bites. I definitely enjoyed the guac bites, it was creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The puffs were bland and flavorless to me. The alcohol collection is so overwhelming but the bartender helped me choose. I ended up ordering a Japanese whiskey to sip which was smooth. I made a reservation here for Friday night, but they also have outdoor seating now since the pandemic so even during peak after work hours, it never felt too crowded.
