I went in for a regular alignment and was told I needed a very extensive one which was going to cost over $400. because I have a Prius, which makes it a very involved process. I called the dealer and they did say that price was the going rate for the work involved. Brakes plus gave me paperwork indicating that the cambers were out of adjustment, but when I took it to the Toyota dealer, they did the same analysis and said it was fine. Don't know if they were trying to rip me off or if they just don't know what they're doing, or what, but I will not be going to any brakes plus again. read more

I love this place. I've taken my car there at least 10 times. They're always honest, they've even sent me to the dealership to get something fixed for free after researching the issue for me and finding that the warranty had been extended by ford for that specific issue. Broken Car? Beware of this place! NOT EVER USING AGAIN!!! Total Rip-Off!!! What happens with a large company with tons of overhead??? Charged me $80 just for a simple engine diagnostic (could have bought the kit myself for almost that price) Came back and told me it would be at least another $350 just to further inspect the wire harness assembly and Crankshaft Position Sensor, which I already had the part for. On top of that, it could cost an extra $600 for the repair. Got a quote from a local Lower Highlands shop that came in at a quarter of the price. Highly recommend to NOT use this place. read more

They CRUSHED it for me and saved me from my Craigslist mechanic nightmare ((( G18 Automotive -- Scott -- AVOID ))) who failed to install my brakes correctly and also messed up my wheel bearings on both sides. They corrected the problem for me and even gave me a free 4-wheel alignment after forgetting to quote it for me on the original quote. Because of all of the recent problems, he just took care of the alignment for free, rendering what was a somewhat expensive quote into something more reasonable for the wheel bearings. Called ahead and was told be here by 230pm and same day service. My brakes did have issues. There was a grinding noise coming from the driver's side of my car. After the car was in the lift within 25 minutes I had my diagnosis. Bad news.....$745 in repairs needed and of course I immediately questioned them. They didn't upsell or try to convince me. That quote was for doing it all but was honestly told I didn't need it all. Isn't that refreshing. With tax $500 but I made a few choices that cost more and am glad I did. I basically got brand new everything that was needed and the honesty was super refreshing. Give these guys a look. You'll be happy you did. read more

These guys are AMAZING!!!!! I was able to get problems with my car identified and fixed, quickly and with the expertise I've been looking for. Once my car was inspected the technician walked through all items in need of repair with me, in detail. He even took me back to my car and showed me firsthand exactly what was going on with my faulty brake caliper. Some of these items should have been identified elsewhere when I got my brakes looked at a few months ago so I am glad I decided to switch mechanics and go to Brakes Plus. The guys there were super friendly and understanding of my budget, helping me to identify only what I truly needed and applying some coupons to get the cost done. My car drives like a dream. Let me start by saying that I never leave reviews good or bad. I am taking more time out of my day after several hours wasted by brakes plus on Leetsdale to leave this review. I called for an appointment for this morning several days ago, and I was told that it would be 1 hour for the free inspection and 1 hour for the actual brake job. When I went to drop the truck off and was asked what time I wanted the vehicle back, I said noon thinking that three hours would be plenty. It is also important to note that the desk clerk made no qualms about the pick up time. At 11:30am I had not received a call with inspection details, so I called Brakes Plus, and they let me know that they had not brought the car in for inspection, but "it is next in line". I mentioned the original 2 hour estimate and referenced my 9am appointment, and was told, "it's just a reservation". I'm not sure what that means other than, you have a reserved time to drop your car off, but it means nothing other than that. I thought to myself, what are you going to do? What's done is is done. I figured another couple of hours and we'll be all done. I arrived at Brakes Plus on Leetsdale at 1:20pm, and the car still had not been in for inspection. They had not even looked at the car, and it had been with them for a 9am drop off for 4.5 hours. I promptly drove the vehicle off premises for service at a different mechanic's shop immediately. I am, more than anything, amazed at the lack of respect for my time. My time isn't any more important than anyone else's, but the total lack of respect is astonishing. I will never bring my car here for anything, and I will warn friends and family to steer clear of this place. That, in my opinion, is not the way to treat customers. Spend your money at a local shop that cares about service. The work will reflect the shop's overall attitude, and you'll be happy you got what you paid for -- a competent brake or other mechanical service in a reasonable time frame. read more

Just left Brakes Plus, Glendale. I have to admit, probably one of the best experiences I've ever had at an Automotive shop. The customer service is top notch. (Namely AJ and Justin). Rather than explaining things using jargon I don't understand, they brought me to my car and SHOWED me. Overall, excellent experience. My first review....ever! These guys are great. I've been here twice now after being told something different from another brake shop. Both times resulted in Brakes Plus saying I need much less than the other said. On my previous visit here with my Infniti, they performed new brakes and rotors (with OEM parts where they showed me the box and I validated) for HALF of the price of the dealer. So, I am combining these two experiences and giving them 5 stars. The manager is super friendly, and they always offer to show you and describe the failing, or in my case non-failing, equipment. read more

I took my 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT in to have a smoke test completed on the evap system as the engine light code suggested there was a small leak in the system. The desk agent was certainly polite and friendly which is why the two stars. But when the test was completed, they advised that to repair the system, they would charge roughly $350 for the parts and labor. Being somewhat knowledgeable about the system, I had my doubts. So I took the car for a second opinion to my friends at DIY Garage at 6541 Washington st in Denver to have them run the test. DIY showed me the 4 inch long rubber hose that needed to be replaced at roughly $0.62. That's 62 cents. They did charge me for the test which cost me another $103, but that was far less than the $350 quoted at Breaks Plus. Now to be fair, the tech's at Breaks Plus are simply doing their best to make money, but as a consumer, I doubt I will ever return to a shop where they clearly did not do due diligence in running the test. read more

I have had some nasty stuff going on under my hood for a while, and while I knew it was going to cost, I am so appreciative of their service and calling me at every step to tell me how much it would cost.. Richard even gave me a ride back home so I didn't have to sit there all day long,.AND he picked me up again..they were all very nice there and honest about what needed to be done.. I wasn't talked down to and I won't be nervous taking my car there again..which I will have to since we are still working on my oil leak..I trust they will be doing a bang up job again! The guys here were really nice and really informative...the reason I'm rating this place a 3 instead of a 5 is because I thought the price I paid for my brakes ($830) was a little steep...my mom has the same services done on her car at Jiffy Lube, but it only costed her $400. I was desperate since my brakes were nonexistent, so I would have paid just about any price...but $800? I appreciate the fact that they gave me $35 off in coupons, but I see that if I would have checked into yelp, they would have given me 10% off my bill...that would have saved me a lot of money. Don't waste your time or your money! They always have done a good job for simple things like a oil change but really screwed up when they told me I needed $800 worth of things fixed on my car (shocks and struts ect) I don't know anything about cars so I believed them and saved up my money and came back 3 weeks later to have it fixed. I dropped it off and the guy called me and said that whatever it is that was previously said to me was wrong and that "that guy had since been fired." So instead it was something else ENTIRELY and was going to cost me $1200. Um what? How could I trust that that was even true if they were completely off base the first time! I ended up taking it to a mechanic a friend recommended and he fixed it for $200. NEVER taking my car there again. Worst customer service ever. Just trying to make money. read more

I normally do all my own work on my truck but something I just can't do. Like an alignment. They have the cheapest prices in town AND I got a free oil change with it. The gentlemen at the fest (Anthony) was very patient with me as I hammered him with questions at 9:00 am. Really really nice guy. I wasn't stuck waiting too long either. The Manager brought me out to the shop just to show me a few things he noticed. He didn't pressure me into buying anything and gave me some great suggestions on how to fix it myself (they didn't provide the that particular service). So many auto shops are garbage and it's almost impossible to trust anyone. I will be recommending this shop to everyone I know and will return after I hit the dunes and knock the alignment back out! read more

An amazing bunch of men. I discovered them about two years ago and absolutely love them. They are so pleasant to deal with that I actually look forward to going there. AJ and Rich, the general manager, are so down to earth. Just real guys. I live on the other side of town from them but have a weekly appointment close by so I always plan my car repairs when I am on their side of town. I am a woman. I am not an expert when it comes to cars but I spent many an hour hanging with my dad in the family garage being his go for when I was a kid. I also drove a commercial vehicle for 13.5 years so I did learn something about vehicles on that job. My point is I have a limited knowledge base about auto mechanics but I know enough to see a scam coming my way. I have NEVER perceived these guys as trying to get one over on me. The other thing is that during my life time I have found something inherantly sexist in taking my car to a mechanic. What I find so refreshing is I have never sensed any of that kind of attitude with theese men. I am always treated with respect. They are never patronizing, and they treat me like I know what they are saying to me. They are extremely honest. Sometimes to a fault. I have actually had them talk me out of spending money on something they thought was not necessary. Their prices beat by a long shot the Toyota dealership I went to for years when I had a vehicle under warranty. The way I found them was I took my car into a Midas shop for an oil change. They did the usual "complimentary" vehicle inspection and gave me an estimate for cv boot and axel work. Their price seemed a little steep to me so I decided to shop around. Sure enough brakes plus wanted $150 less per side than Midas. That sealed the deal and I have been going there ever since. My final thought is that on occasion they will recommend a particular repair for my vehicle. When this happens I want them to explain to me exactly what they want to do, why they want to do it, and what is likely to happen if I do not do the repair. They always do what I ask and give me the information I am looking for. There are times I say yes on the spot and others that I say let me think about it. They are so cool with that. Then some of the time I go home and call my dad and bounce the decision off of him. He has never indicated to me that the information they have given to me was off base. This is from a man who never once took any vehicle he owned to a mechanics shop when I was growing up. He did the work himself and was self taught. read more

I got a transmission flush here recently and things went well. The customer service I received was fair and the process didn't take long. They quoted me an enormous amount (higher than a competitor nearby) for some work to be done. I ended up deciding I could do some of it on my own since it was harmless and simple. Long story short I had to return to this shop not once but twice because during their "free inspection" of my brakes they cross threaded two different lug nuts on both my front tires. The first time I encountered the error on one tire they accepted responsibility I returned to their shop and fixed it--except the second time (two weeks later when i had not touched my car's tires) they decided this was my fault and it was due to the age and wear on my car. Sorry folks but if you are the last one to take something on and off my car and you put it on incorrectly you are taking the blame. Will not be back. Do not recommend anyone going here. read more

Everyone was extremely helpful at the service desk. I went in because my 2000 Honda CRV was overheating and smoking from the hood. They told me not to drive it off the lot and they could repair it for about $650. I left it there overnight, let it cool down then took it to Elder Auto Care the next day and they fixed ti for just over $500. I'm sure they would have been courteous about overcharging me, but I heard similar stories about them doing the same thing to others. Its probably great work, just a little pricey. read more

I'd give them 5 stars but they stung me last minute. Friendly service and got a shuttle ride to work so they can take care an Oil Change Plus and got a great deal. However, when they called me to get my permission to change the airfliter I said sure. They told me the price but it's not like I have a pricebook in my head. MInutes later I found out I could have had the same service done at Grease Monkey for $16.99 instead of $27.00. Not lovely. I learned my lesson. read more

I should have read the reviews before coming in here. I came to this location because I had a coupon for an oil change and A/C check. I made an appointment for 10am. Got here on time, they didn't even start looking at my car until 10:45am. I told them to also check for an oil leak. After 2 hours, the tech came to speak to me and the total came to $300! He applied the coupon after my gasp (which wasn't applied even though I gave it to them at check in and it was in the folder with his estimate), and he gave me a 10% off for the wait. It's close to 1pm now, and I asked that they get the work done asap, as I need to get going. They didn't check on the oil leak, and he said they need to power wash it, and for me to come back to see where the leak is coming from and then come back to get it fixed. I know they are trying to work with me, but I am not impressed, and it seems to not even matter if you make an appointment or not. Still stuck in this freezing office. Good thing they have WIFI. Go elsewhere to get work done on your car. I've had my car serviced at Sear's auto parts and they were efficient, reliable, and reasonably priced, even without coupons. I don't know about the other locations, but I went to the one off of Leetsdale Rd. HUGE mistake. read more

Don't bother going here. I have a brake issue with my car (the death shakes from warped rotors). And get this, a place called Brakes Plus charged me $205 and didn't fix the problem in the least. Absolutely no improvement. They claimed to have machined the rotors and said it would fix the issue. You would think if they have "brakes" in the name, they'd at least know how to fix those. Take your car somewhere else, even if you have brake problems. read more

I went to this Brakes Plus to get a second opinion after feeling like I was about to get scammed by Just Brakes. My wife has been going to this Brakes Plus for years and she has always been treated right. I spoke with Rich, the manager. I didn't tell him anything about what Just Brakes said I needed. He called me after his analysis. He said, "I don't know where you went but you absolutely don't need brakes or rotors." He said that my brake pads were at 80 percent. Not the 40 percent that Just Brakes advised. This is the kind of customer service people should be seeking.
