Just passing through and had a problem with my jeep. Overheating and heavy smell of antifreeze. Called The shop and he said come in first thing in the morning, found a crack in the radiator, he replaced it and the thermostat and had me back on the road in a couple of hours. Great service. This place is a phenomenal find. Personable staff, fair prices, and they are efficient! Took my 20 year old VW bug in with several issues that needed addressing, and they were able to fix her up in a little over 24 hours with no issue. They even offer a service to take your car in and get it to pass an emissions test for a small fee! Will definitely be going back if need be. 10/10. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!! It honestly pains me to leave this review..because Community Auto Repair was recommended to me by a close family friend who's gone there for years. They seemed trustworthy at first. However, this place is overcharging customers and LYING about replacing parts when they never even did the work! This was the first mechanic I visited after moving to Denver. I needed a few minor repairs last year, and it seemed like they were doing a good job & taking good care of my car. I really appreciated their loaner car system, since I am a college student that needs to commute to campus often. Fast forward to June 2022, I brought my car to Community Auto for a simple oil change and safety check. I received a call soon afterwards, and they told me that they were recommending close to $2,500 in repairs. I was shocked, but also curious to review the mechanic's report which included photos of my car. They wanted to replace both sets of struts/shocks, flush the transmission fluid, and replace the cabin air filter among other small things. I could not afford to pay them $2.5k out of pocket, so I said they should just take care of the urgent work (which included new front struts/shocks, alignment, transmission service, oil change, and cabin air filter). The bill for all of this work was nearly $1,700, even when they claimed to give me a "discount" on the oil change service. I reluctantly paid the bill, knowing that it seemed abnormally high based on the work that was done... Now it's August 2022, and I just drove back to Chicago in order to see family. I brought my car to my trusted mechanic, and he had a lot of things to say. First, the cabin air filter was filthy and clogged, which means C.A.R NEVER REPLACED IT! I've attached a few photos as proof. In addition, my mechanic in Chicago said that although my struts were becoming rusty, there was no need to replace them at this time. The struts wouldn't have caused any safety issues, so I could've waited to deal with them once I had more money to spend on my car. The fact is, Community Auto was dishonest about the work they did on my car. They created a false sense of urgency in order to raise the bill for a vulnerable college student. To me, this represents pure greed, and companies like this one give mechanics a bad reputation. I will NOT be returning to this place, and I recommend that you reconsider before they attempt to gain your trust and then start overcharging you later on. Please learn from my story. I feel like I was taken advantage of.. read more

Look Yelp: I've warned you all before that the "people" who work at C.A.R. come from a foreign planet and that these aliens are insinuating themselves among us and deeply undermining our capitalist culture by seriously UNDER-charging us for amazzzzingly great auto repair service. (See review of 10/23/13). Well, you may not have believed me. You may have thought me to be one of those whacko conspiracy theorists. But . . . but . . . I say . . . but . . . I have proof! Attached is a my latest "bill" from C.A.R. I just had them do a regular maintenance on my old Prius, including an oil change, and also I asked them to fix my busted tail lights. Got the car back this afternoon and HA! The attached invoice demonstrates beyond the shadow of a doubt that these 4th dimensional aberrants are not just extra-terrestrials, but WEIRD mutant space beings. They charged me a total of $26.32 for their "work." I say "work" because after billing me for 17 whole dollars of "labor" they deducted $18.32 as a "discount." Yeah, right. The bottom line was that they paid ME $1.32 for allowing them to work on my car. (@W%H^A#T!!!). They literally gave me the running light (the other had just "worked its way loose from the connection," they claimed . . . uh huh . . . sure), and really all they charged me for was the cost of the parts and oil. You gotta friggin' be kiddin' me. I KNOW they're intentionally trying to make me go crazy by not charging me. In fact, I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau for outrageous customer bizarreness. (Still waiting for a call back from the investigator:). In the meantime, you should feel free to go over there and get ridiculously incredible deals on their first rate repair work, but be warned, you are dealing with some very very strange astrally transcendent creatures. Update (1/13/2017): I've been coming here for a couple years, I really liked their service until recently. While getting brake pad estimate, another shop noticed three of my car's wheel studs were threaded ($150 Repair cost). Last shop to put tires on was Community Auto Repair. As one of the studs snapped off because it was lodged on, I had the three replaced at the estimate place rather than driving to Community Auto Repair. Today I brought in the studs to Community Auto Repair for them to take a look at. The owner first off stated that he believes in his employees 100%. I told him I understand, but mistakes happen (must not happen here according to the owner). Rather than the owner suggesting to pull a lug nut off and compare the thread length and the point to where it was threaded, he repeatedly said the nut tightens down to the very end and therefore it wasn't his guys. I suggested it to him, but he wouldn't bite on that suggestion. After 5 minutes of discussion, he wasn't budging. If they would've covered the cost of parts (~$70), I would've been satisfied as I did choose for another shop to perform the labor. Long story short, don't come here if you want honest customer service. read more

Needed just an oil change and a tire rotation, so I made an appointment to have it done while I waited. The waiting room is pleasant enough. I was really surprised to see how affordable the bill was. I had called around and been quoted over $100 for this from Grease Monkey and a few other places. I got the bill and it was just over $60. I will definitely be back. Used to be great, so I hate to write this, but these guys have gone downhill majorly... My 2003 Jeep GC had a coolant leak. Took it to them, they replaced the radiator (about $600). Thought it was all fixed, right...nope. Still leaking coolant badly. Took it back to them and they said they'd have to take the timing cover off ($1,300 at least) AND the engine heads might be done for, meaning the Jeep is totalled. Asked them for a quote without removing the timing cover they told me "no." I couldn't pay $1,300 (or more) only for them to tell me the engine had to be rebuilt. Took the Jeep and left. Brought it to Brakes Plus on 104th in Thornton and they replaced the water pump and pressure tested the coolant system...and it's fine, at least for now. I don't know if CAR was trying to shake me down or this was just a mistake, but either way they've lost my business. read more

I would give Community Auto 7 stars if I could. They really went above and beyond. My daughter took her car there. They did a full inspection. Didn't even charge for that. "The first hour is always free," they said. Then they went through everything with her. Explained what needed to be done right away and what could wait, and why. Very patient and helpful. Recently, unfortunately the car was totaled and she needed a replacement fast. We brought multiple cars to them for full inspections, they gave us the good and bad, and didn't even charge for the time. "The first hour is always free." This place really cares about doing goid work and taking care of their customers. Its the only place we'll be taking cars in Denver. read more

Good customer service. I came for a second opinion. With limited information they confirmed what the first mechanic said, and gave a price that was $170 less then the other place. Brakes and oil pan were done in a day, and I was able to use the loaner car to get to and from work. The loaner was in fairly shoddy shape, with the driver visor unable to be closed. I put some velcro on it for my ride back, as it was greatly interfering with my ability to drive. I would think that should be resolved sooner rather than later. Only other suggestion would be making sure to turn auto-headlamps back on to auto after work is complete. All-in-all a positive experience - I'll be going back for (inevitable) future repairs. read more

My first two experiences were great and my last two experiences pushed me to write a review. Maybe there is a different owner, or lots of new mechanics; can't figure out why my experiences are so different. These last 2 repairs I had done with this shop did not even last for more than 2 days. The check engine light came on 2 days after and the second visit I paid them to fix my a/c and it doesn't even work. Every time I get my car back the tank is on empty. I get that they have to drive it around to see if everything is fixed, but maybe not leave it completely empty. How much driving do you need to do to fix some simple issues? My husbands car was there for 3 days, and it would have driven me insane if it was my car. They had some of the worst communication; no one called to let us know it wouldn't be done with they said it would...and then when they called to say it was done and we asked what they found; they said nothing and gave us the car back without fixing it. We asked them to keep in another day and get to the root of the problem and then the next day they said that there is no problem. When we drove it the next day to the mountains, all the lights on the dash and stereo flickered on and off for 2 hours...exactly what we wanted them to fix. read more

This place is shady. They told me i needed a new clutch before it was needed. Told me i needed an oil change 300iles before the sticker says. Told me i need new tires when i for new ones a few weeks before. Would not recommend. They changed locations 1200 santa fe. read more

So nice on phone and in person. Easy to talk with. Only thing is their estimated time was off so I needed to wait another 30min. Maybe they forgot or other priorities came up but I had time to walk a ways and grab a coffee. They called me on the way back. Tire patch didn't cost anything...so good. I'll go back and probably change my review to 5 if they accurately estimate their time and show and explain their work. read more

Since my original review, I have visited this shop about four or five times and have loved my experience each time. These folks go above and beyond to provide great customer service including a free rental car, kind customer care over the phone and reasonable prices. I have also seen them fill my tank from time to time if it was low and even remove sticky stuff from my doors, windows and paint when I once had to duct tape my window shut. I deliver parts to this company a few times a week, they are always rude and they constantly talk shit about customers while I'm in there. 10/2016 had bad squeaking brakes. Shop told me I needed a new pair on the front. That was expected. I pull out after paying ~$250-300 for new front pads and immediately notice my brakes are still squeaking. I take the car back and, after waiting an entire day for them to reassess they tell me the brakes are "settling in" to the car. That doesn't sound very objective, but they had good Yelp reviews so I trusted them. Less than a year later and ongoing worsening squeaking, I take my car to the dealer who tell me I was given shoddy brakes and need new ones. Another $300 down the drain. I learned my lesson, a good yelp review does not guarantee an honest mechanic. I may not have posted this review if they had been more attentive to my concerns and didn't make me wait for TWO entire days for a problem that they ultimately didn't fix. Very disappointed, and feel stupid for trusting them. I won't be returning, and will be discouraging friends from using Community Auto Repair. read more

UPDATE (11/20/2017): I left my car on a Monday for an oil change thinking it would take an hour as it has taken that long in the past. After two and a half hours I came back and they still had not worked on my car and said it would be ready mid afternoon. There was one other car being worked on and one clipboard with keys on it. I am disappointed that it took six hours for an oil change and they weren't very busy. I started coming here because they had good reviews, I liked their prices and service, and was a loyal customer for two years. But after this experience I am switching to a place closer to home that can finish my car in a reasonable amount of time for the same price. These guys are honest, affordable, and reliable. I come here for oil changes regularly and appreciate the service they offer! That being said, they only accept oil change drop offs in the mornings. With my work schedule, that can be difficult to work around during the weekdays, and afternoon drop off would be best for me, but they don't do that here. So I dropped my car off on a Saturday, and it took almost four hours for them to get my oil changed. While I love coming here, this was a little absurd to me, considering when I have dropped my car off during the week in the morning, they are done in an hour. I realize they are a small business, and get really busy with other oil changes and car repairs, but it would be nice if they could work around some of their customers schedules to take care of a quick oil change. I will keep coming here because I like the guys here and the work they do, just my own thoughts. read more

I cannot remember the last time that I wrote a negative review for a business, but I couldn't wait to write this review after my experience with Community Auto Repair today. I dropped my daughter's car off for service on Thursday afternoon and received a call on Friday informing me of the repairs necessary. I agreed and was told that they needed the car until Monday. I suggested that we pick up the car and return with it Monday morning so we could have it over the weekend. I was then assured that they would provide us with a free courtesy loaner car so that we wouldn't have to pick it up. The first car they gave me was disgustingly filthy with trash on the floors and seat, and when I wiped the door and the gearshift knob with a Clorox wipe, it came back totally black. I started the car and noted that the "check engine" light was on (200K miles). When I went back inside the lady apologized saying "I'm sorry - I thought your daughter was going to be driving the loaner car." She then given the keys to a different loaner car which turned out to be slightly newer but equally as filthy (15 Clorox wipes later and they were still coming up black just from door, steering wheel and gear shift knob). After the seatbelt left a black smudge on my shirt, I had to put a sheet down on the seat and cover myself with a towel to prevent the seatbelt or the seat from further soiling my clothes. In addition, the "airbag maintenance required" warning appeared on the computerized dashboard monitor. When I returned the vehicle I noted that I was disappointed in the cleanliness and state of repair, and was immediately attacked by the gentleman behind the counter. He said "you have nothing to complain about, it's a free loaner car." When I asked him how I could expect him to take good care of my car if they can't take care of their own cars, he responded in a very angry voice saying "you should be thanking me. These are beater cars that are free for customers to use and you should be grateful for it". I will NEVER return to Community Auto Repair! read more

Terribly disrespectful customer service experience. Total lack of follow through on communication and tried to spin it around me. I want to change my review of community auto. The first problem I took to these guys was easy and fixed with no problem. Later I took my car in cause it started to rise in temp, them lower in temp then rise again playing see saw with the gage. I took it in they said it was a vacuum issue and said it was my radiator cap and a house they replaced both. 1 week later driving along cause started to see saw again till all the sudden stream came out of my hood. I pulled over to find a massive crack in my radiator. Had it towed to community auto where they replaced the radiator. 1 week later started to over heat again. This time I took it in they said well Misty be blown head gasket. No diagnostics no trying to solve it just an answer. Now skip ahead 6 months still driving the car but have to keep putting fluid in it everyday. Finally got some money to change the thermostat and coolant temp sensor while fixing those myself I noticed my fans not working so I changed the relay and poof the fans worked and car is doing better although still somewhere a leak in the system cause fluid drains out. Now I have no tell tail signs of head gasket. No fluid in the oil, no spray off the engine on the hood of the car, no white smoke coming out the tail pipe. While yes it could be a head gasket, I believe my problem started back the first time it see sawed. Had they caught this problem in the first point might not have gotten this bad. As soon as I have money I will take it somewhere else and have it diagnosed. Shame on such a great rated company for not catching or at least attempting to catch a problem and then just blowing it off. read more

This place was great! I took my car here for a trip check and oil change after finding them on Yelp, and because I didn't feel like flushing (literally) hundreds of dollars down the drain at my dealership on fluid flushes I didn't really need. I strapped my bike to my car, dropped off the car, and rode my bike over to the Louisiana Pearl light rail station which is just a few blocks away. I was called at work an hour later and told that my car was ready to go. All they needed to do was the oil change for $25 (they applied a coupon I didn't have!) and my car passed the road trip test. I will probably use these guys for my future car needs. You also don't have to bring your own bike to ride to the light rail - they have loaner bikes. I'm glad I brought my own though. The loaner bikes appeared to be fixies and I'm not sure what I would die first of: embarrassment or lack of hand brakes. read more

We were driving our MINI on a road trip, and we had to stop in Denver for a service check. They changed the oil (we just had an oil change like a month ago) and wiper, and told us that our concern about braking pad would not be a problem for another couple thousand miles. So far so good. The problem is later we found out that the new wiper is so lousy that we had to buy another one and change it by ourselves. Later we also found out that the oil change was unnecessary. So basically we were charged $100+, and nothing was really repaired. I am disappointed that this shop may be a " the internet said that maybe we can do an oil change to see what's going on" type of place when dealing with specific types of cars. read more

I took my Honda Element in for an inspection because it wouldn't reliably start. Sometimes it took a couple tries, and one Thursday morning I had to get a jump in order to get the car to start (despite having a two month old battery). I dropped my car off the next morning, Friday. I had called the night before to confirm they could take my car. Not only did they not even look at it until Monday (and didn't inform me on Friday that they'd be too busy over the next two days and closed on Sunday to take care of it- hello, that's an important piece of information), when they finally got around to looking at things, they could find nothing wrong. They insisted everything was good to go, and they cleaned the battery connections and assured me that was all that was wrong. I will give them credit for not charging me for the inspection and connection cleaning, but I left feeling very uneasy that my car wouldn't start and this shop couldn't diagnose the problem. What if it happened again and I was far from help? Fast forward three months. My car won't start, again. Won't even take a charge. This time I was stranded after working late at my office in LITTLETON (I live in Denver). So my worst fears were confirmed and I had to wait two hours for a tow. The shop I brought my car to, the second time, correctly diagnosed the problem as a failing starter system. This was in Littleton, Accurate Auto Repair. They fixed it the next day and had my car back to me less than 24 hours after the problem. (I will note they charged an arm and a leg, $560 for everything, but warrantied their work and I no longer worry that there's this lurking problem that would completely strand me somewhere) I will never take my car to Community Auto again. I don't care how cheap they are if they can't be trusted to find and fix problems. read more

I called Community Auto Repair on my way to work because my 2006 Jeep Liberty's window was stuck down, and I knew it was not the regulator because Go Jeep had looked at it previously. They had said it was the wiring, and Go Jeep quoted me $300+ to fix it. I called and spoke to Ken at Community Auto Repair in kind of a panic. It was cold and windy, and I had to pick up kids later in the day, so I needed the darn window fixed. I asked if they had a shuttle to take me to work in Glendale - they did not, but Ken said "we'd work something out." So I got there, I handed him my keys and he handed me the keys for a Buick loaner car - this is without asking for my driver license, my credit card, nothing. Just trusted me! The dealership wasn't able to loan me a car even though they had hundreds just sitting around (lame). Ken and crew made the repairs in about an hour, called me, and I brought back their loaner car. The repair and an oil change only set me back $150 -- less than half of the dealerships estimate with none of the dealerships b.s.! Yay Community Auto Repair! read more

I may be a guy, but I'm past my denial and I'm not going to BS anyone. I don't know crap about cars. Women in 4 inch heels and short mini-skirts know more about cars than I do, and because of my car knowledge is about as good as the sex knowledge of a pre-pubescent teen growing up in the bible belt, I was thinking I (along with my bank account) was going to take the stairway to car hell when my car wouldn't start last week. Good thing I was close to C.A.R. Walked on over, explained to them my problem, and they had a mechanic drive me back to my car, jump it, and followed me back to the shop. Talk about service! The guys at C.A.R. did a great job of explaining what my car needed and why, and what my options were. Luckily, all I needed a new battery to juice up my old 2000 Olds Alero (yeah, I know, but don't hate, it's got a great Yakima rack on top of it, and yes, my bikes are worth more than my car). Whew, dodged a bullet, and now I know a bit more about cars, just like how those kids in the bible belt would have eventually learned a thing or two with enough breakdowns... read more

Pops always told me a good mechanic is worth his weight in gold. The converse being true, I'm always nervous when looking for a new shop. My elderly 4Runner requires periodic love and when it made a familiar noise, I called this place based on its Yelp reviews and proximity to my house. A nice woman scheduled me for an appointment five days later and told me a new bearing would cost $350 installed, slightly less than what I paid when I had the same work done to the other side in Chicago. I dropped the car off before 8:00 a.m. and asked them to change my oil while they were at it. One of the guys called me an hour later and quoted me $420. When I mentioned what the first woman said, he said OK and charged me only $350. I don't know which of them made the mistake, but it was nice of him to go with the lower price without doing any fact checking whatsoever. What clinched it for me was that they comped me the oil change, which I fully expected to pay for, and put a new air filter in for just the cost of the part. It was even ready by around 1:00 p.m. THAT DAY. They told me they get 95% of their work out the same day it comes in. So to recap: they did the bearing (which might have otherwise been $420) my oil ($30, say) and the air filter (call it $20 - that's $470 before tax) for $385, tax included. And fast. And nicely. It has 205k miles and feels tight as a drum. I figured the least I could do is leave them a review. Thanks guys. read more

To say I love Community Auto Repair would be a gross understatement. I would literally give them 6 out of 5 stars, if I could. I stumbled upon Community Auto after moving to the neighborhood in 2011 and couldn't be happier. What a find! Ken and his team are all amazing; they are genuine, kind, honest, thoughtful people who love what they do and care about their customers. I've gone in a few times convinced that something was terribly wrong with my Jeep, and each time, after extensive testing, I've gotten a call from Ken or Donna telling me that everything is perfectly fine (without making me feel crazy for swearing up and down that my transmission is 5 seconds away from death). I really appreciate that Ken doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot just because I'm a young woman and that he actually explains what's going on and answers any questions I have...even if they're ridiculous. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling like I'm part of a big, community family every time I go into Community Auto. I've felt that way since Day 1, and the feeling has only grown in the past nearly three years. It's true that it's a small shop and you might need to wait a week for an oil change or tire swap. However, that's never been an issue, and anytime I've had an emergency--or thought I had an emergency--they've squeezed me right in. It is a HUGE pain to find a reliable auto shop in a new city (even harder than finding a new doctor, in my opinion) and if I ever leave Denver, I'll miss Community Auto most of all! read more

I can't say enough about these guys! We've taken two potential purchases to them for vehicle inspections as well as had our car serviced by them- they are always amazing, do great work, and offer great prices. They've also gone above and beyond trying to get work done on an inspection in less time so we could get it back to the dealer on time, even though they do that work for free (which still blows my mind). Jade at the front desk is exceptional. read more

Got my tires rotated at a local tire place, and they mentioned my brakes would need to be replaced soon. They said it would cost around $1800; which sounded high. So I took it to Community. I'd never had them do a big job before; just headlights and oil changes. They did the brakes for $570, and I had them replace a squeaking belt for $250 too. I dropped the car off on a Wednesday, expecting I'd probably get it back Monday. They called Wednesday afternoon to tell me that they were so sorry, but the work *might* not be done that day- was it possible I could wait till Thursday (!). Got the car back the next day, good as new, price below what I had feared, ahead of when I would expect anywhere else in town, and with polite and informative service. They also have courtesy car service and a courtesy cruiser bike for local residents. If you live within 10 miles of Community, you need to take your car here to get work done. I've never come across a more trustworthy and competent auto shop in my life. read more
