I came to Bradden's tonight with a group of friends. Lauren was our server. Lauren was great. I know it's not easy dealing with a larger table of customers (there were 11 of us) with most of us wanting separate checks. Yet Lauren did a great job. We were sitting directly under stained glass in the ceiling with a light behind it. Very nice! However there was a definite cold draft coming from somewhere. I was shivering during the entire meal. The food was good, but not "blow it out of the park" delicious. I had a choose 2 and had spaghetti and a side salad. The salad was pretty basic (see the picture): a little bit of cheese, a few chunks of tomato, a few slices of red onion, iceberg lettuce, and a small container of blue cheese. The spaghetti was a small crock of spaghetti and spaghetti sauce. No meatballs. Not even meat sauce. This was $10. That seems a bit pricey for what I got but definitely not as bad as other popular places where I've been. read more

It gets busy even in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. A small wait for a table. Once the three of us were sat, a party of 5 came in about 15 minutes after us. They were busy, so I didn't expect super fast service, which is fine. We ordered the sandwich and soup/salad combo. I finished my beer before any food arrived, meanwhile the party of 5 got their whole orders and almost got our potato skins when I let the server know the skins were ours (the table said they didn't order any). I then asked when our food would be up, as the whole party of five who arrived after us got all their food. The server made a a face and looked annoyed, saying they'd be coming right up. I can understand feeling annoyed at my question if the food was really getting finished, but I was suspicious since we'd been waiting quite a while. When the food finally came, it was underwhelming. Bradden's is always a "go to" restaurant for me. By far the best lobster bisque. I actually went out of my comfort zone and had my Rueben sandwich as a wrap. I was pleasantly surprised! How tasty. I do wish they would bring back their hot bacon dressing. It was the bomb! I know in the past they have been short staffed, but we had terrific service over the holidays. read more

My family had dinner at Bradden's (aka 1818 Bistrot). on 7/11/2025. We were seated in back room. They had fans going because the AC wasn't working in that section. Our waitress told us that the menu was limited because they had problems with their appliances and some food had to be thrown out. We ordered sandwiches with a salad. My sandwich was $16 plus an up charge of $2 for the salad. My daughters were also up charged for their salads. The sandwiches were dry no sauce, mayo etc. and barely had any lettuce or tomatoes. My chicken was overcooked. My daughter's BLT barely had any lettuce or tomato. My other daughter ordered an impossible burger which was excessively salty. People were seated at the table across the room from us. They had complained the heat. The manager came out and talked to them. She explained that the staff didn't know how to turn on the AC in our section. She came to our table and took the fan by our table and gave it to the people at the other table. She then came back to us and asked how we were doing. In the past, I have enjoyed eating at this restaurant but since they have changed ownership not so much. read more

I was here for a little bit today and had such a wonderful time. It was a nice sunny day with a bit of wind. But it was the perfect temperature with no bugs. It is so relaxing with not a big noise level. It's right on Main Street here in the historic part of st Charles. I ordered a red sangria and it was so good and refreshing. I did see guacamole bites with a strawberry sauce on the side. I had to try it and I loved it! The perfect combo! But let me just say I had the Ruben and it was delicious and filling. The fries they have are crinkle cut and they're not as crunchy as I would have liked but they were good. The staff was lovely. So fun! Will totally go again! read more

I came here after work alone to enjoy a nice meal in a small business in the historic section of the town I was born in, and wasn't at all disappointed. The service was fast comparatively speaking, though I imagine it was due to the small traffic at the time. I believe something to entertain yourself with at the table would help this for them when busier. The ambiance was that of a small cottage, because that's exactly what it is; one that's nearly 200 years old. With that being said, it wasn't too cramped and being able to see into the kitchen where my food is prepared was a nice touch. That food being obviously fresh from the moment I looked at it. I had their signature burger and a German Chocolate cake though the cake was unfortunately underwhelming: I did not like the flavor of some it as it wasn't what I expected or taste buds appreciated. I recommend coming here as a couple, and definitely at night for dinner: Main Street is beautiful when lit up in the winter. read more

First time here, and can't wait to come back! The atmosphere here was so pleasant and tasteful. We sat on the patio and there was plenty of shade. Felt like I was eating in a cute, park cafe. There was live instrumental music. The vibe was just so relaxing. It's a bit loud if you're sat in front of the speaker, but otherwise superb. I got the Chicken Salad Sandwich (yelpers highest reviews) and it didn't disappoint. Perfect for a summer lunch. I also got a cup of Lobster Bisque that tasted very fresh. We also got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with fries. The fries were perfection and so was the wrap. The amount of sauce scared me at first, but it wasn't too spicy and was just the right amount. This is a bit of a strange review I hate to give it 3 starts. The service was solid, the ambiance was nice. The food wasn't bad, but desperately in need of seasoning. I ordered the ribeye, which was too thinly sliced and definitely not the med-rare that I ordered, the sweet potato fries were cooked nicely and had a crisp to them. But, the. Overwhelming thing about the food was seasoning, by that I mean complete lack of it. I seriously don't think there's a salt shaker in the kitchen. Ok, maybe that's a bit harsh. But for the mid-market prices, there are way better choices to be had. That have decent burgers, and I've never had the other sandwiches, so I can't weigh-in on them. Hubby treated me here last weekend for my birthday. I chose this restaurant based on their dessert menu. I called the previous day to check their hours of operation as there is conflicting data between Yelp and Google. They told me then that they were closed due to their computers not working. I asked about the desserts and if they had all the menu options everyday - they said yes and that there would be plenty of all of them. We made here about 5pm for dinner (dinner starts at 5pm). We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful night. Definitely take advantage of this option - this is one of the best patios I've been on!!! We ordered lobster rangoon to start and it was delicious! I ordered the jumbo shrimp dinner, Hubby got the bison burger. The food was good. the dessert I went here for was the Upside Down German Chocolate Cake - sold out by 530... so I asked for Coconut Cream Pie - also sold out... I ended up on German Chocolate Cheesecake Gooey Butter Cake, Hubby got the Red Velvet Cheesecake. I thought it was good, but it was served warm which was odd to me. I took most of the dessert home and it was much better when it was room temp. Though the dessert was good, I was disappointed that the other options were not available (especially since I called right before we went to make sure they had it). The reason for the low rating is mainly service. Our server was nice, but aloof. She was also slow. We sat at the table almost 10 minutes before she took our drink order. 2 other tables came in with a different server, ordered food (apps, meal, desserts), finished them and paid before we had received our meal. Also, all of our food was only "warm", not hot. Though it had good taste, the temp combined with the slowness of the server made me think it had been sitting before getting to us. It should not take 90 minutes for dinner for 2 people.... This was my second or third time eating at Bradden's after living in St. Charles for almost 20 years. The food is very good and they have a decent variety on the menu. Today I had their tenderloin sandwich with the side salad. This sandwich is huge and very tasty. I usually ad a little mayo as it doesn't come dressed with anything. The salad was just a a salad. My wife had the steak sandwich, which was cooked perfectly. She also had their sweet potato fries, which is a very generous portion. Our server was new but did a great job. One of the positive experiences about this restaurant is they have an outdoor patio with plenty of shade so even on a sunny day it's comfortable. Very large and spacious patio for outdoor dining and totally took advantage of that today on this spectacular fall afternoon. I don't know if I was hungry or the food was that good, but either way, we had a wonderful lunch at Bradden's on Main Street in St. Charles. Since it was a beautiful day, we decided to take Daisy with us to have lunch. We originally went to get coffee and across the street we saw Bradden's and they had a very nice outdoor patio. She seemed to be shocked to see that we had a dog with us and acted a little flustered as to where to put us. (Come to the Central West End where every restaurant that has a patio welcomes your well behaved furbaby.) Anyway, we were both happy that they had a half and half on their menu. I got half Caesar salad and half of a BLT. He got the half bowl of chili and the chicken salad sandwich. Unfortunately, his chili came out stone cold and he had to send it back for them to heat it up. I tried it when it came back and it was very good. My Caesar salad was great and had just the right amount of dressing on it, but my sandwich took the grand prize. There wasn't anything special about it, just a regular BLT, but you were able to see all the ingredients that we on it. Would I come back here? Yes, the next time we have to go get coffee. Cute place on Main Street with a fantastic and HUGE patio. The service was absolutely incredible as was our appetizer of lobster rangoon. The rangoon was service with the tastiest freaking sauce in all the land! Only negatives, which unfortunately was a deal breaker for us: The buffalo chicken salad. It was the special of the day, and we asked if it was "loaded up" and we were assured it was. The salad arrived with the chicken (great flavor) tomato and some shredded mozzerella. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside on the patio. It was a long wait for service which I can understand these days but at some point they need to take your drink order, right? Anyway, there was a considerable wait between our seating, our drink order as well as our meal order. Kind of annoying but we were all still in good spirits because it was incredible weather outdoors. Got our food which was good. We had a big party including kids...so like 8 people. Everyone got a soda or a lemonade (not just free water) and the crazy thing is we all got refills at one point. Makes sense because we waited a while to order and get our food. While we ate, not once did our server check on us or make sure we had everything. Okay...it's busy, service is not what it used to be...whatever. We are ready to leave...our server is nowhere. I decide to flag down another server who says "Who is your server?" I think we guessed his name right but I mean, does the service team know who has "x" table. Do I need to really explain that? When the bill came I was not looking forward to waiting another long round to then provide my card so I gave him the card as soon as the bill came. I get the bill and I see 4 extra sodas added onto our bill on the bottom. An extra $12. Either refills are not free anymore or I was charged for extra items our group did not order. There is no way to tell because again...ghosts appear when we need something and there is no mention of beverages or prices on the menu (at restaurant and online). Very disappointing. Great weather, great company, okay food, terrible service and downright omission of pricing or suspected fraud. Pathetic. All tables under umbrellas which is a good thing to protect diners from light rain or falling acorns. Server was not familiar with menu. We ordered fried pickle spears as an appetizer but she told us they were round slices and VERY spicy. Pickle SPEARS we're delivered to our table...not spicy at all. Burger was just okay, slightly over cooked from the medium rare I ordered with no pink at all. Extra charge for tomatoes. Fries were just bland and under seasoned. Philly chicken sandwich was very plain. Had to request water refill finally after no one came back to refill the entire time we ate. Considering that only the patio was open, they seemed to have enough staff. We just were not thrilled with server speed, knowledge of menu or service in general. Bradden's has an adorable interior and such a cozy vibe, especially on a cold winter day after wandering around downtown St. Charles looking at Christmas lights. We all ordered the soup and sandwich special and we all loved it. The lobster bisque was our fave! I also got the French dip and it was really good! My dad got the chili and also really enjoyed it. A lovely shady spot to take a break from window shopping in old town St Charles. Inside there is a bar area, the rest of the inside dining is tight; but outside is a good sized shady area with tables and chairs to refresh. The service is prompt and friendly and the menu covers enough ground to provide something of interest to most. In my case, it was a slice of their homemade coconut cream pie that my wife and I split. Cold, flaky and yummy. A perfect shopping snack to share on a laid back shopping/strolling day. To wash the pie down, I could not resist trying their Makers Mark, peach schnapps tea and yes, it was as good as it sounds. First time trying Braden's. We were seated instantly so that was good. Very small resteraunt and super cute and homey on the inside, and not very loud environment. My boyfriend and I got nachos but we're not impressed. As I was eating the nachos i noticed the meat tasted exactly like canned chili. Overall, nachos were nothing exciting, and pretty boring/ sad nachos. Avocados seem like they were left out for quite some time, and although server was very nice and served us very quickly, we were given no silver wear or napkins who can eat nachos with NO NAPKINS. we won't be back but a super cute atmosphere. read more

This place is so awesome. Came here 4 years ago when visiting family and loved it. Came into town yesterday and was hoping this place was still open. Came by for lunch and was very happy to see it was still here. We were hoping to eat on the patio but sadly starting rain and we had to est inside. The inside was very quaint and the hostess was very pleasant. Our waiter was also very pleasant and attentive to our needs. Our glasses were always full, the empty plate removed quickly and the check was brought to us right away, yet we never felt like we were rushed. We didn't not want a big lunch so we shared an incredible order of roasted ravioli and a lunch special. The lunch special was a half sandwich and a small salad or cup of soup. We chose the tuna salad sandwich and small side salad with a yummy balsamic vinegar dressing. This was the perfect amount of food and only cost $17 plus tip. We will be back one day. read more
