My absolute favorite cookies. I do not live locally but always make a point to stop here when I'm passing through town. I have also had them shipped to my house! The cookies are always delicious and never, ever disappoint. Be sure to get the standard chocolate chip cookie that looks like a scoop of ice cream. It tastes like a dream. Came to Grandma's cookies as I was in the area. It a cute small cottage located on Main Street. There is street parking. Upon entering, the smell of fresh baked cookies fills the air. There is a small gift shop that has apparel, gift bags, cookie tins and more. It is a small place, and can be crowded during busy hours. Once I made it to the cookies, i was greeted by a gentleman who was related to the infamous Grandma. He was very pleasant and gave me a little history on Grandma. Grandma was a foster parent to at least 24 foster kids, and she took in a sibling group of 10. I ordered chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and snickerdoodle cookies. They were Absolutely delicious and my family enjoyed them. They are huge and can definitely be split in half to share. I also purchased 3 dog treat cookies for my fur baby. read more

This is a 10 star! Grandma's Cookies in St. Charles is serving up straight bombs of goodness disguised as cookies and they are divine. Let's be clear, this chocolate chip cookie is not here to win a beauty contest. It's a dense, misshapen blob of joy that will ruin all other cookies for you. It's chewy, gooey, warm, and tastes like childhood and poor but needed diet decisions. The staff is sweet and will happily guide you through your sugar spiral. And the shop is adorable. Quaint enough to pretend this is a wholesome outing, even though your blood sugar says otherwise. Great for gifts, party favors, or just hoarding in your car like a raccoon. First time today! We went through a bunch of shops on Main Street I couldn't keep up with checking in everywhere, oops! Grandma was actually my lunch lady when I was in middle school and I always loved those huge chocolate chips cookies then so when I saw it was her I was like I gotta try! And they did not disappoint. It was so great! Smelled amazing. I feel as though this is one of the Main Street experiences you need to have, going to Grandma's Cookies. It was packed the holiday season so I went during the week and the line was shorter! The chocolate chip cookies are amazing, no wonder people were coming in and order dozens on dozens of cookies lol I feel like the line moved fairly quickly and there were a lot of things to look at before ordering. There's a reason there's lines out the door sometime! Each cookie is delicious and the staff members are friendly for how busy it is. This time I opted for a regular chocolate chip, the scoop in the middle is what dreams are made of - baked enough to be cooked but still delightfully soft. I got a hot apple cider as well. I went here with some friends on a Friday night at around 6:00 PM. There was no line and we were able to take our time making our cookie selection! The employees were very friendly, patient, and efficient. The cookies are a great price! I ended up ordering one sugar cookie and two chocolate chip. The texture of the cookies are a bit different than my usual preference. I typically like a soft, gooey texture, but both types I tried here were a bit more on the crumbly, grittier side. I wonder if I would like them better warm! Nevertheless, I was not disappointed in the flavors and my overall experience. I have heard amazing things about their lemon cream cheese cookies and their apple crumble cookies, so I can definitely see myself coming back to give them a try! What are the odds of: 1) picking some random lunch spot, 2) while sitting at said lunch spot, impulsively deciding to see if there were any cookie shops nearby, and 3) finding out the recently rated #1 cookie shop in America (USA Today) is just 900 feet away from you? After reading the reviews that mentioned 30-minute waits, I decided I'd HAVE to put up with that wait for the best cookie in America! Much to my surprise there was NO LINE! I assume being the day AFTER Christmas instead of the day BEFORE had something to do with that as I was told the line was down the block just a couple days earlier. Ambiance was perfectly fine. Ordered one dozen (variety) without even checking the price. I was totally expecting to hear $30+ but when I was told $12.94 (after tax) I was shocked! Good to see the owner didn't let the award go to their head and inflate their great prices! Speaking of owner, I assume that's who was behind the counter. A very personable and friendly guy. Always good seeing good people succeed! Good thing I live no where near St. Charles as I'd be here way too often! This place was very busy during Christmas time. This place certainly has a Christmas feel to it during Christmas. The cookies were great. The cookies were decent size and filling. If you love Cookies this is the place to go. Located in the Historic Downtown of St. Charles. We came all the way from Chicago just to see what all the hype was about. Plenty of parking but does get very busy during peak time. Great service and plenty of variety to choose from. The store is very small but very organized and the line moves pretty fast. The cookie prices are very affordable. My favorite was the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip. We will definitely stop back for another few dozen when we're passing thru again. read more

A local we encountered while visiting Saint Charles told us we simply had to go to Grandma's. We took his advice and purchased three: chocolate chip, double chocolate chip (chocolate cookie with chocolate chips), and the daily special of apple crumble. The apple crumble was quite good, basically a sugar type cookie with apple pie filling on top. The other two were good, but not really my preference. They were less sweet than most chocolate chip cookies and more toward light a shortbread type texture than the chewy or dense-but-crispy texture that's normally expected. What did impress us was the price. When they rang it up for the three cookies, I paused and asked if that was the correct amount. The employee looked at me curiously, and I had to explain that I live in California, where the price for one bakery cookie would have been nearly that amount. I also liked the signs in the decorative box and tin area of the store, explaining clearly that they were an optional purchase only and a regular box would be provided with purchase. That was considerate. Overall, the cookies were fine, but I would probably try a different bakery if in the area again. Personal preference. read more

I've heard all the rave reviews for Grandma's but hadn't tried them before. Frankly there is typically such a long line here I don't want to wait (and I make some amazing cookies at home myself). This last time we were shopping on Main Street and realized there wasn't a line we wanted to pop in and see what all the hype was about. Now, basically we were torturing ourselves as we are currently eating gluten-free due to health issues... BUT we went in anyway lol. The set up is a bit confusing as you walk in one side and basically over to the other - the line snakes through the store. On the entry side you see boxes for your cookies but it says don't take one... not sure what that's about. When you get to the order side it's a tiny little space but a lot packed in. The main two things that made this a 5 star review: 1) I love that they offer day old cookies for a reasonable price and they are in their own section easy to grab 2) They had gluten free cookies! Not just one, but a couple to choose from! YES we got one. I don't know any comparison as I haven't tried gluten free treats anywhere yet... I thought it was good. Hubby thought it was amazing. I took a stroll here after a long bike ride on the Katy and after BBQ at Salt + Smoke seeking a sugar boost and/or caffeine. It was past 5pm, their posted closing time but they must had extended the hours for Mother's Day weekend. Not only did they have cookies but they also coffee. However, it's not in a pot or anything. They literally have a Keurig and you can pick out what coffee you want and give them 2 mins to brew your single cup. The coffee creamer was powdered (ugh) and they had pourable cane sugar and packets of sugar alternatives. So, I was not too impressed with that part but let's get to the cookies. Through the case I see huge cookies. The chocolate chip ones had an odd shape to them (not going to say here what they are shapes like) but was maybe the size of a baseball sliced in half. I only ordered one and walked around outside with it. It kind of started melting and then crumbling as I bit into it while walking so I lost some of it to the streets of St. Charles. Somewhere in the chocolate chip mix I tasted a distance essence of a spice (possibly cinnamon) which I'm not a personal fan of when it comes to chocolate so I was a bit bummed. Overall the cookie is not too soft and not too hard. They are nationally recognized so I definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the area. read more

We had to stop in here today, you can smell this place from the street. Beautiful cookies and so much merchandise you can buy. A dozen cookies for about $10 and change. And day old cookies for $5.99. When the line is out the door, you know you're in for a treat! I was hosting an event with Provenance Soapworks last night and wanted to add some sweet Main Street touches, so I decided to get the 5 dozen platter for our guests! I called ahead on Thursday to order and it was so simple. The woman who answered walked me through my options and we decided on chocolate chip, sugar, and a random assortment for the 5 dozen. When I went to pick them up, the line was out the door. I didn't mind waiting because I'm thrilled they're that busy. The line wrapped into a second room where they had things for sale and some of their awards. I had no idea they were on Good Morning America/ how awesome! My cookies were ready on a small table and ready to go. I paid and walked out. It was painless and so smooth! I tried the chocolate chip and it was wonderful! It was the perfect amount of chocolate chips. The cookies also had a pinch of salt in them and I love that combo. Looking forward to coming back and trying some different kinds! read more

If you're going to come here, I suggest coming first thing when they open because they get so packed. The last time I've come in the times before that I've always been wrapped around the building. Sometimes they will have a table outside with hot chocolate and cookies that you can get as well right next to the building They are purchased as well like T-shirts, ornaments, and so much more inside while you're waiting. I always get the chocolate cookie I can never remember what it's called but it's chocolate with even more chocolate. It's super delicious. Highly recommend for Cookies or any dessert on Main Street. But tasted more like flour at the end not enough butter or sugar or vanilla extract it's missing something.
