Fantastic experience! My kid has a peanut allergy. We asked if it could be accommodated. The server washed the scoop so it had no residue from other flavors, opened a fresh container, and scooped it in an area away from other items. The server was kind, patient, careful and understanding. It was amazing that my kid could safely enjoy his favorite dessert, which rarely happens outside of the home. The shop was filled with adorable decor, and though the line was out the door and wrapped around the entire store, we had fun looking at everything while we waited. The ice cream itself was delicious and the scoops were generously sized. They had a coffee bar that smelled amazing, so we'll be back to try it next time. Really good chocolate. I got the milk chocolate peanut clusters and the milk chocolate almond clusters and they were both very good! This teenie tiny ice cream shop is jam ram packed with delicious treats. Everywhere you look, there's a wall of yumminess! Slabs of fudge, buckets of candy, and vats of luscious frozen ice cream. Even though there is only a moderate variety, the ones that I sampled were rich, creamy, and oh so decadent. We stopped in here after my son saw it on the way to dinner across the street. What a pleasant surprise to stumble into. My kids each got ice cream and they both said they loved it. I got two truffles that were good. But the BEST thing ever is their taffy. My husband got a bag of taffy and, oh, how I wish we'd bought 12 bags. It's usually one of my least favorite candies but it's amazing and I can't stop eating it. It's so soft and the flavors are so good and it doesn't get sticky. read more

One flavor only, mix of two, mix of three, 1/4 pound, 1/2 pound and more . . . you get the picture. On the back side wall are hundreds of ornaments, all hand-made and unique in their own ways. Hidden gem alert! I hadn't ever heard of this place, but while walking down Main Street with some other Yelpers, they were craving ice cream. So we went in and joined the huge line around the store (which was caused by it being a holiday walk day with special events - I doubt it's always like that!). While we waited our turns, we were exposed to TONS and TONS of hand packed, hand made sweets by Riverside. There was pretty much everything you can think of and more. I picked up some candied fruit slices and some hard candies. I also got this cute little owl decoration made of what seems like real white feathers. They have little decorative items as well. I wasn't planning on buying or ordering anything, but I ended up giving in to peer pressure (haha, that's what I'll call it) and getting mint chocolate chip ice cream on a cone. I noticed there was a big candy case with chocolate covered everything and more, but the register I was paying at was before it, so I didn't have time to browse or buy anything. If it hadn't been so packed, I would've bought more. But, it's probably better! Prices were excellent too. This will definitely be on my list of must-stops when on Main Street! read more

Wow, thats the best way to describe Riverside Sweets. I was in the area for lunch this past weekend and decided to stop in for a quick look. First off there was a small line waiting for ice cream, which was surprisingly cheap... and good. However the best part is the sweets, while I didn't buy anything they had some amazing sounding treats, one that stood out and I regret not buying was the Oreo Cookie Bark, which looked amazing, and just like the ice cream was surprisingly cheap. I believe that all the candy and fudge is made on site. The store also offers small decorative items, however the real magic is the sweets. I think I need to make another visit to pickup some treats for Easter. I have to say if you are in St.Charles its worth visiting Historic Main Street and stopping by Riverside Sweets. They are very generous with the single scoop! For $2.61 after tax, I got the biggest single scoop ice cream ever. It was milky and tasty. love this place. it's super cute and the staff is super friendly. my friend and i came here to get ice cream while other friends were doing a project down the street. the girl who helped us was super nice and put up with all my stupidity of "how late are you open?" and "can i try ALL the samples?!" this is really just like any other really cute and awesome sweet shop in a historical neighborhood. it has lots of bulk candies and chocolates and random other things. their ice cream was really tasty and there was more of it than i expected given the price. all in all, if i'm craving candy and in the area, i'll stop by. read more

This cute little shop on Main Street in St. Charles has just about everything you could imagine! They have chocolates, fudge, ice cream, and tons and tons of candy. One of the things I really like about this shop is their hours. With the exception of restaurants, most shops close around 5 or 6 on Main Street. Not Riverside Sweets! While I think some of their items are overpriced, I was extremely pleased with the chocolate my sister and I ordered the last time we were in this shop. I ordered a milk chocolate caramel and my sister ordered a dark chocolate sea salt caramel. Both were really good. i was really impressed with how soft my chocolate was, the size, and how much caramel they packed into that one piece. I most certainly will be back! read more
