Off menu vegan dessert, grilled peaches with granola
    Kathy G.

I don't even know if I can say enough wonderful things about Osteria Forto. I only wished I had visited sooner because this was a top-tier experience for me. I felt like a VIP from the moment I arrived. The service was impeccable! The word that keeps coming to my mind is personable. From being greeted warmly upon my arrival, to our personable server, Hayley, to attentive support staff keeping my water glass full and frequently clearing plates, to the owner, Liz, personally serving our dessert. I really like the way they wrap the leftovers to take home. It's a very thoughtful touch. So my review of the food is a bit different as my dining companion is vegan so when they initially made the reservation some time ago, they requested a vegan menu and wow did Osteria Forto outdo themselves! They created a personal printed seasonal menu for us with the option to do all four courses and we said "yes!" We began with a grilled asparagus salad over greens with roasted beets and a delicious wild mushroom vinaigrette. It was my favorite part of the meal! The second course is considered an appetizer of linguine pasta with blistered tomatoes and tofu in a garlic olive oil. It would be plenty for a lighter appetite. The main entree was a giant stuffed Heirloom tomato with farro, on a bed of polenta that was surrounded by a sauce that contained Brussels sprouts and golden raisins. It was a large serving and I could only eat a third of it. The final touch was a dessert of fresh grilled peaches with house made granola. Such a perfect way to end up a hot Summer day. There is plenty of parking in a shared lot with easy access for disabled folks. The ambiance is upscale but not stuffy. They offer seating in their dining room, at the bar or patio. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Excellent! Wow! Arguably the best restaurant in all of St Charles County! Service, food and atmosphere were all top notch! Highly recommend!

I am so impressed with Osteria Forto! We had a fantastic dining experience - from the service to the food to the decor - such a great spot in St Charles county. Can't wait to come back and try more on the menu! Tried: eggplant appetizer, truffle fries, Chilean seabass Loved: the eggplant appetizer and sauce were really perfect, and the Chilean Seabass was cooked perfectly with a great risotto. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was so lovely and helpful when ordering.

Our first time here and it was really great experience. We enjoyed the intimate setting that allowed us to have a nice dinner conversation without straining to hear over the rumble of a loud dining room. The service was very solid, and the food was well executed. We started with the delicious bread and olive oil which complimented the Forto Salad. I had the Tortellini Romano and my wife had the Rigatoni Cardinale. The rigatoni was good, with a just mild kick. I am not normally a tortellini person but this dish was off the chart outstanding.

Gluten free pasta with Bolognese sauce

The restaurant is cozy and service was great. My salad with house dressing was bright and quite good. Unfortunately, I found my pasta with Bolognese sauce to be rather bland. Of my 3 dining companions, 2 ordered chicken parmesan that came with roasted potatoes and a vegetable of the day, brussel sprouts. They reported their meals as very good and would order it again. The 3rd had the shrimp scampi, and gave me one. I'd order that next time. There was a seasonal cocktail menu that looked appetizing.

Decided to pop in on a Saturday evening around 6:00 PM with no reservations. The dining room was completely full. We were able to find two seats at the bar. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted so we ordered quickly with the bartender Dan. It didn't take long and our food was. The sea bass was everything I wanted. It was so good and all the flavors meshed together nicely. The service here is top notch. Dan was very attentive and fast. I hate I waited this long to finally check them out but I won't make that mistake again.

We are here on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation and we were seated on the patio which we weren't sure about at first. Service was excellent and the food was delicious! My husband had the forto salad and I had the burrata which was good. Entrees were steak and chicken piccata. I did have an extra side of garlic pasta which was bland. Other than the pasta everything was fantastic!

Wonderful place tucked into a unassuming strip mall. This has some classic Italian flavor and a good wine list to pair. We had a great time with salad and the eggplant for starters and then the pastas were a fanatic main. No room for dessert at this visit but I will be back for dinner and make sure I have room next time!

Side of pasta w/tomato basil subbed for vegetable of the day

Nice experience with pretty good food. It is located in a strip center storefront, but once you walk in, the only way you really know is because the windows let you see outside. Workers were helpful, attentive, and efficient. Our server was very nice. The salads were quite good, with a variety of ingredients, including items such as artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, kalamata olives, etc. The wife's chicken piccata, served over mashed potatoes and artichokes was delicious. It came with two boneless chicken breasts, so there was a lot of food. My pork rib chop saltimbocca was similarly large, 14 oz. It was well prepared and about as good as it could be for a pork chop. However, veal or chicken may be a preferred choice - not a knock on the restaurant, just a preference. I subbed the vegetables for a side of pasta with tomato basil sauce. This was the one semi-disappointment. The sauce was sweet but lacking in spice notes.

Fantastic new Italian spot in Ofallon! Had a reservation tonight and my husband and I were immediately sat. There is a good amount of seating and a lovely bar. There was a big group (10-15 or so) in the back- so I believe they can accommodate larger parties. The inside is beautiful and more upscale. Erin, our waitress, waited on us hand and foot and was an absolute doll. We started with the calamari and Forto salad and both were delicious. The sauce with the calamari is to die for. The portions were more than fair. Complimentary bread and oil come out as well and the bread is warm and fresh- so yum. For entrees we had the chicken parm and subbed a side of cream pasta for the seasonal vegetable it came with (Brussels and potatoes) as well as the chicken cacciatore with the seasonal vegetable. Both came out promptly and were fantastic! Portion sizes were large. The cream pasta was absolutely amazing- super creamy and lots of garlic. We past up dessert because we had to practically wheel ourselves out but will be back as Erin told us everything is homemade! Everything from service, to ambiance, to food and portions were wonderful! Great date night spot. We will be back!

Rigatoni Cardinale lobster, shrimp, scallops, white wine tomato sauce, touch of cream

The ambiance perfectly complemented the very fine dining experience that awaited us. Servers were attentive without being intrusive, and truly elevated the experience. The rigatoni cardinal I ordered was absolutely delicious, a perfect example of their culinary excellence. For anyone seeking an upscale dining experience with impeccable service and outstanding food this place is a must.

    Olive oil and vinegar
    Blake S.

The restaurant had an impressive, intimate atmosphere thanks to its cozy, small dining area, making it perfect for a date night. Our waitress recommended a Pinot Noir called "Root Cause," which paired wonderfully with our meal. I chose the Penne Sorrentina on her suggestion, and it was delicious. I added shrimp, which was fantastic. The dish is slightly spiced and helps the blend of flavors overall. My date had the Rigatoni Bolognese with meatballs but found it a bit lacking in flavor. The olive oil and vinegar served with the bread were high-quality and very tasty as well. I did not catch the waitresses name but she was delightful and made great conversation. I would return again at some point.

I followed up with the owner only after I never received the resolution that was agreed-upon in the restaurant. I was initially told a refund would be issued, and I waited a full billing cycle as advised by my bank to allow time for it to process. The refund never came. When I followed up, the owner refused to honor what was previously agreed upon. I even asked them to review their surveillance footage to verify that an error was made, but they declined to do so. Instead of taking accountability and resolving the issue professionally, they chose not to correct it. Mistakes happen I understand that. What matters is how a business handles them. Unfortunately, this was handled poorly, and I cannot recommend a business that refuses to stand behind its own errors. When the owner refused to correctthe issue and blamed me instead for not following up sooner, I told the owner that I would be pursuing the matter further than the owner said they were not going to do anything if I did so. In hindsight trying to blackmail me so that I would receive a partial refund and not warn others.

I'm suspect they were short staffed in the kitchen. Our server, Christine was really sweet but seemed rather new, due to some of the answers to questions about the menu. I ordered coffee and the cup she brought me was literally room temp, not warm, completely cool. My Caesar salad with salmon was good. Salmon was good but not wild caught I'm sure. As usual my frog legs were fried to perfection. The honey corn muffins were amazing as usual. My wife had the jambalaya pasta and it was delicious and seasoned very well and the pasta was perfect. I really like Gulf Shores but the time we spent waiting and the cool cup of coffee reduced my rating to 3 stars for our experience. The staff seemed to be working very hard d, but they also had some large groups. I never expected it to be so busy, so late in the evening. I'm glad they were busy but I hope they figure out the staffing issue.

Our waitress told us that when the new owners took over they were able to buy some of the original recipes so people still come in for things they used to enjoy from the Madison's ownership. At our last visit we ordered the following: large combination salad to share amongst three people, fettuccini Alfredo, rigatoni carbonara and the beef mudega. The beef mudega came with soup which was ratatouille. For dessert we ordered the turtle cheesecake. Everything was great especially the salad (they're known for their salads) and the carbonara except for the beef mudega. It was not prepared the usual way that I am accustomed to so it tasted very off in my opinion. I could not bring myself to finish it, but I was fairly full from the salad anyhow. I just know not to order that again. I ate some of my spouses rigatoni carbonara and it was delicious. One of the few places left that actually tries to prepare carbonara with more costly ingredients than bacon bits. LOL The ratatouille was okay but not great. It takes a special skill to make great ratatouille so I'm not judging the whole place on one soup. The turtle cheesecake was wonderful but I will warn you it has a lot of caramel on it if that's not your thing, I wouldn't order it. Be sure and sign up for their rewards program as it offers $25 off a future visit after you've accumulated $250 in dining experiences. When weather warms up, we will be trying out the outdoor dining they have, but for now it's inside for us.

The employee at the counter was helpful while ordering, though the experience did feel a bit rushed. One small disappointment was that the sodas are canned rather than fountain drinks. On the positive side, the restaurant was very clean inside and had around 5-6 tables available for dining.
