I stopped by this BoxLunch store inside Glendale Galleria Mall to look at their Dragonball figures. There was already a line here in the morning before the store open but I don't know what they were waiting for. When I walked inside the store once they open, an employee told me about the specials they were having. They have some nice backpacks, snacks, shirts, figures and etc here. I didn't like the new in-store approach at all. While I was simply browsing, an associate approached me and, without any greeting or explanation, immediately asked if I had a profile and then asked for my phone number. No "hi," no "how are you," no context--just straight into qualifying me as a customer. I understand what they're trying to do, but the execution felt very sleazy, almost like a car dealership. It completely took the magic away from what's supposed to be a whimsical, relaxed store with fun and interesting collections. Instead, it felt stuffy and oddly uptight, even just trying to look around. These aren't high-ticket items that require that level of vetting. Most people are casually browsing novelty pieces, so being asked to pull up a profile mid-browse felt out of place and uncomfortable. Overall, it didn't fit the vibe of the store at all and honestly made me want to leave rather than keep shopping. read more

Gabby, (hopefully I am spelling it right) answered my call and put my item on the side for. I came in. She recognized my voice and said are you here for the apps bag. I was At BoxLunch with my mom yesterday, around 6 P.M and she loves that store... I mean every time were at the mall we have to pass by. Normally its okay service with most of the Female employees being very helpful & nice... besides one Guy who is extremely tall, skinny & has a whole attitude up his you know what? My mom saw a pin she had liked which was behind the registers but right next to the pin wall, therefor its easy for anyone to grab to take a look, you'd assume you'd be okay to do so since its out and about like that specially next to the wall full of pins you can purchase. Well... the tall man turns around and says "Excuse me"? you can't just grab the pin from behind the register & my mom says I couldn't see it very well... then he goes Well you can stand from over there & I can show it to you lol are you kidding me? this is how you talk to customers? and what blows my mind is there's many other reviews about this person.. not to mention, he's been there for awhile now & every time he's rude but this was a last straw for me. read more

This place was great! The two female associates working Saturday evening were incredibly genuine, sweet, helpful, and nerdy! I loved the Northridge location and love this one too! They have a lot of great stuff for nerds and geeks, but unfortunately like the Northridge location, they are also out of either sizes or just don't carry an abundance of certain themes or characters - i..e I was looking for Star Wars ties which they only had one kind, and then anything Superman related, but the only items available were a shirt and lounge pants both of which had Japanese writing on them . . nothing against Japanese people, I just don't want a random Superman shirt full of languages I can't read! I ended up getting Star Wars socks and a friend picked up a shirt for his baby, and with their sale we got the buy one -get one 30% off plus box lunch bucks! read more

I've been coming to this store since it opened. I'm in here at least 1-2 times each month. I'm always interested in checking out what's new and what deals they are having. They have some great promos from time to time. I have purchased a good number of gifts at this store, some for myself but tons more for friends and family. I bought 4 Lilo & Stitch T-shirts here towards the end of last year and my family members and I all wore them to breakfast during our visit to Aulani. They were quite a hit. It was perfect though too, it featured Stitch on the back with a Hawaiian license place that I believe read, "Aloha." I have purchased other items as well: crockpots with a Starwars pattern on the outside, cookie jars, key chains, buttons and pins, lanyards, mini backpacks, stickers for laptops, scarves, pj's, and other fun doo dads, etc. They've all been a big hit. I enjoy chatting with the employees. They are all so sweet. I think one of the girls there has got to be my fave employee. She recognizes my lil one and they always chit chat when we come and visit the store. Mind you, my lil one is the size of a 1yr old although she is older than 1. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name as I am writing this review. No matter, the folks who work here have all been really helpful. I haven't ever had any issues with returns or exchanges, although I think I've ever only done 2 here. Things always worked out so easily. This store can get pretty busy during the weekends so you might have to be a tad more patient with people but you can find a lot of fun little things here. I always like to look for clearance or sale Stance brand socks here. They have had some fun Disney print ones. I always buy 'em for my hubby so he can wear 'em when he goes golfing. read more

Think of this place as a higher end version of Hot Topic. They have the brands that you would also see at Hot Topic, but the items they sell here are pricier, but seem to be better quality and more unique! I love coming here to find what new promotions they sell! The setup of the area looks so appealing and organized that I love to check each section every time I drop by here. I was in the Glendale Galleria store around 11:45-Noon, 2/4. I've never had an unpleasant experience until that day. I saw a cute top on the website but it was sold out in my size so I went the store to see if they had it (not to mention it was 20% off online that day). I ask the female associate at the door if the store price matches with their website and she says yes. The store happens to have the top in my size so I go to pay. Again, I ask the associate at the register (a Latinx man), if the top can be price matched with the website and he says yes. He asks to see my phone screen with the item in my shopping cart on Boxlunch.com (which I assumed was to get the SKU number and the discount total). The size of the top in the cart doesn't match the size of the top I'm trying to purchase so he says he can't give the price match. He says it's something about not being able to honor it unless the item is a size they have available for in-store pickup. What?! Of course I would have paid for an in-store pickup but the top was sold out in my size and the size below that. Which is why I drove to the store to check for my size in the first place! The whole thing made absolutely no sense. I ask if there is anyway to make an exception in this case and honor the price in my cart? He says no, and starts to get an attitude with me and I wasn't having any of that, so I left. I interacted with friendlier staff at the Glendale DMV that week and that's saying A LOT! Unfortunately, I noticed months ago the associates are all new people. There's always a female employee minding the door and then it's all the same couple of guys merchandising during store hours while guests are trying to shop, and standing around talking to each other like they work at some high-end boutique and can't be bothered. I'm not trying to be a Karen because I know from experience that working with the public is awful (let alone during a pandemic wearing a mask all day). I just feel like things could have been handled better. If you have stipulations with your price match policy, please learn how to properly communicate that to ALL of your store staff so that they can relay that information to guests. It's such a shame because I really liked this store and visited frequently. read more

This location is my go-to for anything Game of Thrones, funko pops, and/or Disney merchandise. I tend to order from home and have it deliver at the store since it's free shipping no matter the amount. Most of the time they have what I'm looking for and the majority of the staff are very helpful and informative. However, Sakima (whom I believe to be the store manager) has a habit of ignoring people when he's behind the register. There could be 6 people standing in line waiting to check out and he'll be on his phone texting away. If you even bother him with a question while he's on his phone he'll most likely roll his eyes or just tell you "no, we don't have it" without even checking. I've worked retail before so I know how annoying it could be but this guys doesn't even try to hide his annoyance. I stay clear from him and rarelyvask question when I'm in the store. So stoked to finally come here!! Called ahead to make sure they were actually open, and the wonderful Nicole suggested making an online reservation to eliminate having to wait in line upon arrival. Store was clean, every single employee was so amazing, kind, and helpful, and I wanted nearly everything they had! The guy with the curly hair and nose ring working the counter on Saturday the 16th used a very condescending tone to tell a little girl to not turn the knobs on a vending machine without putting coins in there. The TLDR; Made a purchase during the holidays. When I went to return it the weekend of Christmas, I was told it would be refunded to store credit due to an issue with an update their cash register systems had undergone. Was not told this originally, despite the update supposedly being live for a few months. Why wouldn't you tell customers this during the busiest time of the year? --------------- I've window shopped here and have gotten gifts from BoxLunch in the past, they have really awesome items -- including two pop culture/video game merchandise brands I really love: Mighty Fine & Loungefly. I finally made my first purchase mid-December. I got a DVa bomber jacket and the DVa backpack at a sweet deal (30% off the jacket + B1G1 half-off!). But since the jacket looked like it had been there for awhile, fit a little odd, and was a bit beat up from being displayed/tried on, I also ordered another one online when I got home so I can choose between the two. Anyways, flash forward to the day before Christmas Eve and I have the second jacket from the online order and am ready to return the spare. I pop in while doing the last of my Christmas shopping and I'm told I'd be getting back a gift card. Uhm, what? I payed with a debit card. When the cashier first told me, he played it off like it's just standard store policy. When I asked about it more, then I'm told it's because their IT team installed a new register system about 2 months ago and it's incapable of processing card returns. When I asked if it's glitched or needs an update, I was given a pretty spotty answer -- pretty much it didn't seem like I could come back anytime soon to do the return. I mentioned that I would just set up a return with the website and he pretty much says, "You can try but they've been sending almost all the customers back to us even though I tell them not to, they just don't want to handle the returns I guess." I was feeling pretty helpless and out about $100. When I get back to my car, I call BoxLunch's online customer service anyways and the rep was very kindly able to process a return label for me in just a few minutes. Phew! Anyways, I can't fathom why the original cashier who rung me up the week prior didn't mention this problem to me. Why wouldn't you let customers know this during one of the busiest times of the year due to the holidays? While most businesses will even extend your return window during Christmas, I find out I couldn't even return mine. I don't know if the cashier I tried to do the return with was just leery of doing it because I walked in wearing one of DVa jackets and brought back the second one tagged and unused...sadly the experience soured my view on this BoxLunch and it'll be awhile before I buy something from the storefront. read more

This is not my regular box lunch, mind you. My box lunch store employees in Torrance are AMAZING. Came here for a release because stores all over were getting the shipment in. When I came in they knew exactly what I was looking for. They said they did get the shipment in but were not opening it yet. When I asked if there was a time to come back, they dodged my question. I understand that the shipment dates can't be given out, but when you have the shipment in store and just aren't opening it....anyways I waited for 3 hours. I counted 5 staff and this was a Tuesday at 2pm. I obviously don't know all the ins and outs of the store, I admit that. But you had customers willing to buy merchandise. Before leaving I popped in one more time to see if they had the chance/time to get to it, but alas no. Other stores open the shipment and boxes right away. read more

Honestly the merch in this store is great. This review is for the extremely tall skinny guy who was beyond rude to me. I've never been treated that badly by a sales associate EVER. I had been waiting in line in the designated area and when I get the the cash register a friendly woman told me she could not process my return and indicated that I stand next to the other register. I did that with a lot of distance due to covid. The person behind me in the line also had a return and was also told to wait behind me. The tall skinny young man wearing overalls looked up at me and told me to wait at the end of the line original line. Which is fine...he clearly didn't realize what was happening so I gestured to his coworker and said "oh but she told me to wait here" and he was like aggressively "who told you to wait here?!?!l" and I said "your coworker" and at which point he actually told ME that I needed to "chill out." It was shocking. He was scolding me and being so rude it was actually stunning!!! Another female coworker who was just clocking in ended up processing my return. The weirdest part about this whole thing was the man behind me who also had a return was also skipped over until he said something and the male worker was pleasant enough to him. Long story short I wish I got his name though I noticed other reviews mentioning what appears to be the same person. Will never return. I'm sure if he is questioned about this incident if the store even reads Yelp he would say I was being rude. Very Sad. read more

This is my favorite Box Lunch to go to! It surprisingly has a lot more variety and quantity of products than other Box Lunches do. There are things like bags, hats, perfumes, shirts, pop figures, and so on ranging from Disney themes to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Pokémon to Bob's Burgers. It's fun to browse around. The pricing ranges from $ to even $$$ but the $$$ is usually like specially themed leather jackets. The only thing is that customer service here is a hit or miss for me. Employees either are super enthusiastic and wanting to engage in conversation or really don't seem like they like their job at all and don't even greet you at all no matter how many times you cross their path. It's not such a big deal to me in this case because it's a store and I usually like to just browse and be left alone for a little haha read more

This store is literally amazing! I am a huge Disney fan! They have a large variety of different characters though so they do not only cater to Disney characters. Right now their clearance is buy 1 get 1 for a 1$. I don't know how long this deal will last but definitely worth it. The staff always greets customers as they walk in and are very friendly when answering questions. There aren't a lot of employees so no one really walks far to check up on how you're doing but I don't mind going up to the register asking for help. This place is great for gifts. Very very cute store. I understand things are a little more $$ because of their mission, and I respect that. But I think the customer service is terrible! In the 30 minutes I was there, no one smiled nor greeted my boyfriend and I. When we finally picked out what we wanted, we headed to the register. The guy there, looked like a dark skin Asian - L, RJ (on the receipt), looked at me and asked if I had cash or card. I said card and he didn't respond. So I asked him if he was open and he was like uh yeah. So I walked up and asked if they take discover, to which he responded "uh yeah we should". Like ooookay, sorry but you've got a real bad attitude dude. When he finished the transaction, he slid my receipt to me and just let the pen roll out of his hand - like a little toss of the pen for it to reach me. I'm sorry! I should've known I wasn't worthy enough to touch the same thing as your spoiled little finger tips. He didn't say a single word to me. After the transaction finished he avoided eye contact and just left. Terrible customer service from him and overall very negative experience. I hope to not see him again. Typically I love going to box lunch and a majority of the workers are always friendly and outgoing to approach. However, this past time my experience wasn't such a good one. Which makes me question if I want to continue shopping there. I ordered a backpack right after Thanksgiving, which I knew and was fully aware its busy season (having worked in retail myself) that my order could very well be put on backorder and be late. Unfortunately I wasn't able to receive my vacation, which was the entire purpose of purchasing. All of this was understandable, but these bags are not cheap and I had to play phone tag with the store and customer service to simply get a refund for the bag I was not receiving. Getting my money back was the most ridiculous process of them all with very rude customer service. I was told by the store that you cannot abandon the order until it actually arrives, which is fine. However the associate I was talking with explained to me that as soon as the order arrived they would immediately abandon it and refund my money. This was not the case and this did not happen until I had to repeatedly call the customer service line and get the order abandoned. When I finally reached someone it was not a pleasant person I was dealing with that had no care in the world about this 4 week issue I have been having with BoxLunch. Coming from a Hospitality professional this is not how you want to treat returning guests. read more

I stumbled into BoxLunch last night on my way to Target. It is located on the second floor of the Glendale Galeria, just a few stores down from Hot Topic. According to one of the employees, BoxLunch is a new sister store of Hot Topic. They sell a lot of really cool nerdy/geeky, Pop Culture stuff. Whereas Hot Topic has an edgier feel to the store, BoxLunch is less cluttered and has better lighting. I found a lot of goodies I'd love to get my hands on, like a couple of cute Studio Ghibli fleece blankets or some Star Wars luggages. According to a sign outside the store, you can get 30% off your very first purchase. I don't know if you have to sign up for a membership (I assume it'd be free?) to get the deal, but I do know this: for every $10 you spend at BoxLunch, a portion of the profit goes towards charity. That's a pretty neat concept. Parking at the Galleria is always free, but can be crowded on weekends. Just go during off hours (like after dinner) and check this store out. read more

There is first time for everything and this is the first time I am writing a review for a retail shop. This is specifically for the customer service which was remarkable. I went there to pick up some items I ordered online and had shipped to this location in the Glendale Galleria. After one of the staff checked to make sure all the items were inside the shipped box, he turned to a co-worker and asked if there was anything else to do. His co-worker said, "Give him a bag and a High-Five." I told the person, that no bag was necessary since I could simply take the box. And there he stood with his hand up in the air, waiting to make my visit memorable. High-five connection completed and world just got that much brighter because it was now a human connection rather than simply a transaction. read more

This is one of my favorite stores! I come here as much as I can, mainly because they always have the cutest stuff in stock, but partially because the employees are always so warm, fun, and welcoming! Especially Andrew! This is my first time running into this employee, but immediately I noticed his good vibes. Like literally, he radiates this genuine, warm, bashful, and extremely kind energy. (I forgot to update the review) The new manager called me & left me a voicemail about seeing this review on Yelp. She was super understanding & very sweet. She told me I could come in and get the money they owed me and the whole staff knew I was coming in so it wasn't a surprise. She told me she preferred if I came in when she was working just so she could talk to me & start all over with my experience with the store. I'm hardly around that area.. Only when I go get my hair done. I went in and she wasn't working, which I would have loved to meet her. But instead I was greeted by the most adorable guy ever! He was every welcoming and talked to my sister, niece & myself as if we were long time friends! I forgot his name since it was a while back. This place just needed a better manager. And they got her!
