Checked the website many times for time, brunch menu, etc. It wasn't until I arrived after having come over on the ferry from Vashon while waiting for my son to arrive from the Green Lake neighborhood that we discovered via a note on the door that brunch would not be served today. VEGAN is the target audience for the food at this restaurant, and not an after thought like so many omnivore restaurants. Food was delicious and the cocktails! Yum! We tried the curry ramen noodles and the portobello mushroom sandwich and both items were great tasting. The restaurant has a full bar, but they have wine on tap, and some other delightful wines. Our server was George, and he took excellent care of us. At tentative but not bugging you every 3 min. He can explain anything about the restaurant from the ordering/pay system, to what's the food like? Or what does he suggest. Great place to have a conversation. The place was pretty easy to get into on a Wednesday night, but be prepared if you decide to go for brunch served on the weekend. This place is definitely for grown-ups. No children allowed-no exceptions. So parents pay for a sitter. It's worth it. The only reason its 4 star, is it needs more entrees choices during the week. And that's just my two cents. We ordered the nachos, jackfruit tacos, and curry ramen. All three dishes were amazing!! The nachos were huge and they were stacked with lentils and a few different types of sauce, the ramen was SUPER flavorful (this was my personal favorite), and the jackfruit tacos were delicious! The tacos were a little on the small side, but the plate came with three tacos and chips with pineapple salsa, so it was still pretty filling. I can't believe it took me so long to finally try out Box Bar - but now that I have, I can honestly say it's my favorite restaurant in Seattle. (and aren't we West Seattle residents lucky?) The food is both delicious and beautiful - yesterday I had the portobello French dip for lunch along with a heavenly chocolate covered granola bar for dessert . . . I left with a big smile on my face. I was there this morning at 10am when they opened for brunch; I ordered the biscuits with gravy and loved every bite. I ordered a huge takeout spread here for a special dinner, including Curry Tofu Ramen, Jalapeno Poppers, Tofu Banh You, TBLTA, Buffalo Tofu Sliders, Jalapeno Tacos, Mac and Cheese. we got takeout from the box bar website which works through toasttab. the updated menu options during the phase two limited hours are plenty to choose from in my opinion. our group got lentil nachos to split and then an order for each person jackfruit carnitas, buffalo sliders and bahn you. everyone liked what they ordered and the portions were plenty and flavorful! the packaging wasn't over the top and it did a good job of transporting the food home on foot such that we didn't open the boxes to find that everything had slid to one side or that all the sauces and ingredients had leaked out. basically, when we sat down to eat, it looked as though i would imagine it would look if we had eaten in the restaurant. i'd order more take out from box bar for sure! [one tip: my friend commented that the buffalo sliders were very spicy so be forewarned. i assume those people who'd order them would know that's what they'd be getting, but it seemed worth mentioning.] read more

You don't need to be a meat eater to love this place! My dedicated meat-eating man gives this place high marks for delicious food that he enjoys, and good non-alcoholic drinks. I've been veg most of my life, and this food is legitimately amazing. This isn't your local hippie restaurant, like Chaco Canyon. Was feeling vegetarian food even though I'm not vegetarian, so I decided to give this place a try. Got the TBLTA sandwich and kale salad. Portion sizes are decent and food is tasty. Lots of guacamole and sauce on the sandwich, and the kale salad was mixed well with light dressing. When I went to pick up the food the restaurant was pretty busy. They have 2 2-person seats outsider and 4 4-person tables inside (not including the bar). read more

I went to BoxBar during their soft opening and was impressed at 'soft opening' service- it was amazing. In the current end of the world times, they are rocking it- solid food delivered through a seamless system. Delivery drivers are friendly, food is amazing- I had it delivered to a friend's house for a Covid conscious gathering of ladies around a bon fire (yes, 6 feet distance). Trio of tacos and Portabello sandwich with au jus and kale salad. All traveled well, kept well, and shared well, even with hand sanitizer. Highly recommend. Oh-yeah, sheltering in place, stuck home schooling a grumpy teenager, trying to keep my own business afloat. Decided to treat myself to a sample of the offerings here, phoned in an order to pick up. It all came securely packed in an easy to carry large shopping bag with handles, a bonus to reuse. Tried the soup / salad combo plus vegan mac and cheese. The soup was nicely spiced curry, I'm guessing in a coconut milk broth with perfectly lightly (not over) cooked fresh veggies and "crispy" tofu; delightful. Kale salad very tasty with little gems of avocado in it. Mac n cheese dressed up with green onion garnish. Yummy- all. It was a treat. Look forward to visiting again. read more

Box Bar Forever! This is my absolute hands down favorite restaurant in West Seattle. I have been going here at least once every couple of weeks since they opened, and I have not had a bad meal or experience. My favorites are the Portobello french dip, the kale salad, the buffalo mac is INSANE, the jack fruit tacos, and the stuffed jalapenos to start. The nachos are also fantastic!I love their brunch but admittedly I have only had the tofu rancheros because I don't go to brunch often and I get that EVERY SINGLE TIME. We often eat here when I visit my mom who lives within walking distance. I love that we can order anything on the menu and it is vegan safe. We have tried many of their menu options and they have all been fantastic. They are often out of a few things on the menu, but that just goes to show they are making real food from fresh ingredients that aren't being kept forever in a freezer. Was given a gift certificate from a friend to this place and absolutely enjoyed it. Despite being an omnivore, this place is a gem of a vegetarian restaurant. The jackfruit tacos were like pulled pork street tacos without the pork but tasted like them and had a very flavorful bite with the pickled onions. I also ordered the lentil nachos which came in a massive heaping portion enough for 2-3 people. Two cocktails I ordered were balanced but yet boozy and well crafted in canning jars for my to-go order. Service was friendly as I walked in to pick up my order. If you enjoy supporting small local restaurants, this is one you should definitely treat yourself to and dine from. read more

I've heard so many good things about Box Bar around the West Seattle area, but as a non vegan/non vegetarian, I was definitely afraid I wasn't going to enjoy the food at all. Boy was I wrong!! Everything I ordered was so flavorful and I couldn't tell the difference between the cheese substitute! I ordered the chips and cashew nacho cheese which tasted a lot like coconut curry and it was soooo good!!! And for my main course I had their spin on a tofu Bahn Mihn sandwich. It was . I also had their spin on Moscow mule (South Park Mule) which I still crave. Also- the owner owns my barre studio (shout out to Bohemian Studios!!) which of course represent!!
