Working on Classic Breakfast
Brad B.

Daughter working from home today & wife at a meeting in South Seattle, so I made the run to West Seattle to take her to lunch. I was just thinking of fast food but she suggested a neighborhood place she's been wanting to try for awhile. Walked the block to Arthur's and chose to sit outside as it was a nice day. Cute little place was doing a nice business; not busy but brisk. I decided on the Classic Burger, she got the Classic breakfast, and some kind of matcha latte, which she felt was overly sweet. California Ave traffic wasn't bad at that time so it was a pleasant sidewalk experience. Burger was great; she really liked her breakfast but had to take some home. Cute chirpy birds in the trees, luckily not overhead. She was happy to get a lunch break instead of just working through as usual. I'm sure she'll be back with her roommates soon.

Cafe with a cool vibe in West Seattle. Light, airy, with nice plants and artwork. (The bathroom is also pretty nice.) Our server was delightful and readily gave input when I was trying to decide between options. The cocktail offerings are unique. We had the Admiral Tropics (which was refreshing) and The Beet Goes On (earthy beet flavor). Both tasty but the alcohol seemed to be a light pour (which is fine for lunch). We started with the Brussels sprouts. These were delicious. Great char and flavor. The kofta and halloumi plate was nicely presented, but the kofta were in the dry side and it my companion commented that one would have expected two pieces of cheese to accompany two poached eggs. The mussels were very tasty, with a lot of broth. A spoon or more bread would have enabled my companion to finish it up. (Granted, he could have asked...) The Lebanese chicken sandwich was okay. The bread was good, nice slaw, and a sufficient amount of chicken, but it was on the dry side. The accompanying shoestring fries were delicious though. A nice cafe with good portions and everything is plated beautifully. Pricing is commensurate with other restaurants and street parking wasn't difficult to find. I would go again.

Bacon Sammie & side of fruit... usually comes with fries but I chose to upgrade.

From start to finish, the environment and atmosphere was amazing. Our server was very attentive and informative with their menu. I specially had the bacon sammie, which was phenomenal. The bacon jam wasn't so sweet which I loved, 10/10 on the sandwich. I just wish I had added the over easy egg to really complete the sammie. I hope to visit one more time before my trip ends!

Left: Seasonal bread (chocolate & berries) Top right: Mac & cheese bites Bottom right: Crispy Brussel sprouts

What a delightful find while visiting West Seattle! Very welcoming and comfy place. Megan was spot on. Her knowledge of the menu items and easy going manner made the experience that much better. And the food! Brussel Sprouts topped the yummy chart, followed by Mac & Cheese bites and lastly the seasonal bread (this one had chocolate & berries). Would definitely come back! Thanks!

Steak and eggs breakfast

This place was nice, vibe was modern and clean. Loved it's big so no 20 minute wait to be seated. Staff was super nice, accommodated every request. Food was great. The steak was outstanding. Tender cut, zero fat or gristle. I'm usually afraid to order steak since so many places get lousy cuts of meat to save money. This was cooked perfectly medium. Requested egg over hard and it was perfect. Nice touch the jam was house made, though $2 extra. Home potatoes were crispy. I'd come back, nice place.

Lemon ricotta pancakes

Look at these lemon ricotta pancakes! They were good, y'all. I didn't even touch the syrup, the sweet pancakes, savory butter and ricotta hit the spot. And way to elevate it with the simple yet beautiful plating!

I do love this place. The service is great and one of my favorite things about breakfast are the potatoes. My only gripe is that a simple egg breakfast (not pictured) is pretty pricey. They allow you to purchase food for those in need and pay before hand which is super nice. They also have quick breakfast sandwiches during the weekday mornings. I'll keep coming back here!

Smoked Trout crostini was actually quite good

I like this place. Amazing happy hour Reminds me of tapas but with an Australian and Greek vibe. Decent wine pours and good wine listing. I would return here and left completely satisfied. Excellent service and friendly people. Good times!

Customer made cocktail - I asked for citrus and pretty and refreshing with tequila and he made this for me. It was yummy

Dinner at Arthur's in West Seattle - I love all the plants in there. It's like dining in a garden but inside with AC - good food - must get the bacon - it's yummy and burgers were delicious, cooked perfectly medium and comes with potato sticks - nice and crispy Don't skip out on the cocktails Jordan makes the best cocktails - they're pretty and delicious. My drink was sweet and citrus that he custom made for me and Ed got a whiskey sour - he said it was the best he's had Jordan is working dinner Wednesdays and Thursdays and lunch the rest of the week. Go see him. Tell I'm I sent you.

Very cute spot and we got seated for a group of five really quickly for a Saturday mid-morning! Highly recommend the cheese curds! Pro tip - SOME meals (not all my fam got steak and eggs and the blt were both big portions) are a bit smaller so I would recommend asking about portion if you're feeling extra hungry!

What a cute place! The service and the food was great. What I love about this place is that it's a safe space to go to if you are facing challenges (eg. gender pronouns and hunger). I love how creative they are in helping the community.

Do you have a plan based (Vegan) hollandaise?

Are bottomless mimosas offered on weekday brunches? what time does weekday brunch end?

They were out of quite a few things by the time it was our turn, but they still had the old standard "chicken" so I figured it would be a good test to see how they stack up against Marie Calendar's. Initially I was a little concerned by the size. Would this be sufficient for a complete dinner? Cold winter night + COVID eating habits had me doubtful! Thank goodness I was wrong. The crust was flaky and rich and the filling was seasoned perfectly. It's much less "creamy" than Marie's version but it definitely has superior crust and flavors. I was satisfied.

They were parked up near Lord Lion Winery and after looking on Instagram, this is one of the few times they were on the Eastside so I took advantage of picking up a sweet pie! They have lots of savory options, but I was craving something sweet. They had a pecan pie, and a seasonal cherry peach with walnut streusel. I went for the seasonal option. It cost just $5, and was huge! The staff were fully masked and had a touch less pay system, as well as friendly. Once I got the pie home, I ended up splitting over 2 days. The cherries and peaches were jam packed into the fresh pie crust, and the fruit clearly fresh and packed with flavor. I'm hoping to try some of their savory and other sweet options soon. Wow I'm so happy I found this place! I hope they are back around East Seattle area more often!!

This being the Armory, there are plenty of places to sit indoors, or take it to go outside. We had the hatch chili & chicken pie and the lamb curry pie. My buddy ate his lamb pie while it was still warm, loved it, said the filling was "nice and juicy". I had to wait and eat mine at room temperature and it was still mighty tasty, if not slightly on the dry side. Not sure if it would have been moister if eaten right away. We have been here before, and will likely go back.

So I'm enjoying all the attention and the silence. Great conversations and phenomenal service. lol. I love that they use local ingredients. The flavours were special and the staff were precious. Most of our party celebrated the huge portions. We come here from Michigan's U.P. and Northern Wisconsin, where the pasties are bigger than yer head! I really dig their poutine and the sausage roll. Everything was prepared alright. Not spectacular. But there's a rather large conflict on something we from the east call a living wage surcharge. I've noticed in this state that companies are very transparent when charging it. I don't like that practice and I let management know this (not that they care). You could be tempted to withhold a tip but that's like comparing apples to oranges and not fair to the waitstaff. The fee is charged to help the restaurateurs cover the cost of paying their hourly employees, without raising the prices on the menu. It is my firm belief that you be upfront and honest about this fee. I feel transparency is underhanded and deceitful. This reflects on today's assessment of this otherwise enjoyable establishment. 05/25
