Craving fried chicken and Mac-n-cheese since we're driving through Savannah. We attempted to go to two popular southern eateries without success (the first had run out of chicken and mnc by 11:15a and the second serves chicken and mnc on Tuesday and Thursday and we went on a Monday. BowTie was a wonderful surprise. We were tired, starved, and we were greeted and immediately served. The food was good. The cornbread was the best, served with apple and pepper butters. We loved the batterless fried chicken, it was juicy, flavorful and crispy without being overly heavy. It was served with a bbq sauce that was vinegary and not sweet, which we loved. I decided to come here because I was craving a burger. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was mostly empty. We decided to start with the Pimento cheese platter, it was average - I wasn't a big fan even though I love pimento cheese. For my burger, I got the BurgerTown sandwwich , which was again average and nothing extra ordinary. I got grilled vegetable as my side, which was asparagus for the day. The asparagus was good and I recommend trying it if you like asparagus in general. My friend got fries as his side, which didn't feel fresh. I wasn't a big fan and I love fries - any kind of fries. The service was great- our server checked on us regularly and was very friendly. Off the beaten path, my hideaway. Southside location so catch it when you don't feel like going downtown or are close to the mall. The open air bar and patio is my go to seating. Completely different feel than inside booth seating. Food is consistently good, everything is house made including spices and sauces. Top items, 1924 salad, fried green tomato's, bbq poutine, wings, burgers and steak cut fries. Some of the older servers are jaded but recent new additions are making the vibe great again, hostess and kitchen staff are very friendly and speak in passing. Yall will not be disappointed by bowtie bbq! I was referred to go by a coworker and he was spot on with this recommendation. I got a side salad and the ballroom burger. The salad was good, nothing to complain about but the burger was phenomenal! It is a giants angus beef patty, cooked to perfection with house made pimento cheese and crispy fried green tomato and a bacon jam. This burger was amazing! Hubby and I just left this place and I think it's safe to say we were both thoroughly satisfied! The food was absolutely delicious. This would be a cool place to come with friends. I loved the rustic atmosphere and acoustic rock music that was playing in the background. Everyone was so friendly, after being seated our waiter greeted us right away. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer and omg. They came with ketchup and a side of some sort of fabulous spicy sauce that you've got to try! It's so perfect actually because my hubby always prefers to eat his onion rings with ketchup and I prefer them with some type of ranch spicy sauce and that's exactly what we got! They're either mind readers or they're very good at what they do . Oh and the onion rings were so delicious the breading was so crunchy and just omg try them. I got the BT classic with Mac and cheese and I ate every last drop. The Mac and cheese was homemade quality and I loved how creative they were with using bow tie pasta! I substituted a bun with my bbq sandwich instead of the Texas toast! He brought our sandwiches with their original sauce which was so yummy! I actually got some sweet sauce to try with it and ended up mixing the two. As we were finishing up the owner came by to say hello and ask how everything was. The best thing about BowTie Barbecue is the music selection, at least on the day that I went! They had some old school jams reverberating in the restaurant. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes for starters. They were ok. The batter was too intense for me. We had a few Ballroom burgers, which had a FGT on them too. If I knew I wouldn't be a huge fan of these FGTs, I would have tried another burger. The burger itself was very tasty. It's just the batter didn't blow me away! My party was starving and ordered way too much food, but we really enjoyed our meal and I think we can thank the music for that. read more

We had an enjoyable dinner here this week! The servers were friendly and quick to respond to customer needs. I think my favorite thing was the mac and cheese- it was delicious and unlike other ones I have had before. The bbq was flavorful and I enjoyed the Texas toast. We also had the fried green tomatoes which were breaded in a delicious breading. The sauces were not my particular favorite - but when combined together I got a little bit more of what I was looking for. BowTie BBQ sits in a deserted strip mall parking lot, nicely dressed exterior, beckoning customers. I was met by a cheery waitress and enjoyed the lengthy menu of options. I chose poutine fries, covered in Pork and bleu cheese. I also asked to sample all their sauces. They did not come in characteristic squeeze bottles but served in 2 oz containers. The pork was stringy and crisp so discerning flavor was difficult. I did enjoy the fries and the spicy bleu cheese. The original sauce was far too vinegary tart to enjoy. I don't care for Carolina mustard sauces but theirs was flavorful. My favorite was the bourbon bbq followed by the spicy. Only 2 of the 5 are bottled for souvenir/purchase. I also bought Brunswick stew to go. It was full of good things but overpowered by ketchup flavor rather than the slow smoky goodness of a variety of meats. It was heavy on the meat and lite on the veggies -I'd have loved more limas and corn--but would not buy it again due to the vinegary ketchup taste. There were other things on the menu to try but I wouldn't recommend either of these 2 dishes. read more

BowTie BBQ operates from a group of three "integrities" that they tout--Agricultural, Education, Ethical. Paradoxically, "Sartorial" is not included as an integrity but might should be considering all the artwork and pictures of bowties around. Points off however for not displaying likenesses of Pee Wee Herman and Mary Poppins--two of the greatest bowtie wearing characters off all time. I would say more about Mary Poppins and her fusty red bowtie, but that might corrode BowTie BBQ's Ethical integrity it's striving for. Somewhere Winston Churchill and James Bond are winking and nodding their approval of my discretion. Somehow, the Canadians get credit for throwing a mess of french fries together, topping it with cheese and gravy and calling it poutine. Hell, I've been putting crap I find in the fridge on a bowl of fries for 40 years. I guess poutine is a better sounding word than fries and fridge crap. The BBQ Poutine here is hefty portion of fries, bleu cheese crumbles, and smoked barbecue drizzled with an excellent sauce that was almost bottomless. I asked for a small bucket of extra sauce to dip each forkful. I ordered a 1924 side salad so I wouldn't seem quite so poutiney. I'm going to start describing people with huge satisfied grins like they just ate an enormous bowl of french fries and barbecue "poutiney". Like, he had a poutiney smile on his face after eating lunch at BowTie BBQ. Alright. So. We had heard good things and the reviews looked promising and we were nearby anyways so we dropped in for dinner before heading home. Started with some wings as an appetizer and although they seemed a little over cooked they still had a good flavor. I can't have BBQ and not try the brisket, so I went with that and some ribs, collards, and the house salad. The service gets five stars for sure, but the brisket fell far short of expectations. I'm not sure I have ever NOT finished a meal, but I abandoned the brisket after a few bites. Four stars for the ribs though. The collard greens were a bit more disappointing than the brisket. This place is super cute for a BBQ spot. Everything in their menu is good and their fried tomatoes are DELICIOUS. The BBQ has a great smoked flavor. Be careful and always check to make sure they've put BBQ sauce with take out orders. I've been unimpressed by every bbq spot I've tried since moving to GA but wow. This one hit it right on the head. I'm very picky when it comes to bbq and I have not one complaint about this place. Right when you walk in your greeted with hospitality and that sets the tone. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we were taken care of the whole time we were there. I hate that I don't remember her name but we were there on a Monday for lunch at 11. They actually had an impressive beer selection as well! BowTie Barbecue is a local joint that I've been meaning to check out for a while. When my girlfriends and I heard they had a killer happy hour, we decided to go after work one day. However, we were immediately told by our waiter that they no longer do happy hour except for $4 beers. Womp womp. We were disappointed, but we decided to stay anyway. The interior of the restaurant could definitely use some renovations. It has an older, almost cafeteria style feel. My friends and I shared a bottle of wine as we looked over the menu. The menu is kind of disjointed and difficult to read. I ended up getting the BT Original- their original bbq sandwich with a side salad. I have to say, the side salad was the highlight. It was delicious and my friend got the full portion for her meal and loved it, too. The bbq sandwich was good, but nothing to write home about. Their sauce was yummy, but I've had better bbq in the area. TLDR- no happy hour, but an alright place to grab drinks and food with friends. We had an exceptional lunch at Bow tie yesterday with my wife saying she had the best burger she had ever eaten! Bow tie BBQ is not your normal BBQ restaurant it is upscale and has excellent food coming from quality ingredients. This as one might expect comes at a higher price but you are in for a treat as their food explodes with flavor. My wife their signature Ballroom burger. A large grass fed patty, that is accompanied by a thick sliced fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and a luscious bacon jelly on a brioche bun. The bacon jelly is loaded with shreds of lean bacon that make this burger so exceptionally good that the accompanying side of ketchup not wanted or desired. For a dollar up-charge she had 1924 salad that had a variety of greens with olive tapenade, blue cheese crumbs, fire roasted sun dried tomatoes, cucumbers with croutons. I was also impressed with my sandwich which was called a Bag of Hammers, which consisted of tender BBQ brisket, collards and Gouda cheese on Texas toast with a side of flavorful sauce to top it off, Excellent! I had the upgraded BT (Bow Tie) side salad which is quite large for a side that consisted of mixed greens, raw red onions, candied pecans, green apple slices, fresh blueberries and strawberries with a nice lite balsamic vinaigrette. Note - My wife brought that burger up about three times after we left and already wanting to go back! Food - 5 stars - The food is a cut above most places Service - 5 stars - Server was well trained and knowledgeable about the menu making recommendations and taking care of my iced tea glass that I often drain. The owner circulates to see how everyone's meal was while he helps serve, as well. Just tried to stop here to eat after coming in on the Amtrak. Hostess just told me they are closed, over an hour before listed time, but was rude and unkind in doing so. Very poor customer service. Plus no update to Yelp or Google to let customers know. Incredibly disappointed. Was looking forward to trying their Georgia bbq. All of the appetizers and food we had were really good. We also had a friendly waiter. The fried green tomatoes are awesome and super filling. After eating that and the pimento cheese app, we were already stuffed! I liked the pimento but didn't care for the pitas it came with because they were char grilled, but overall I would definitely come back! Oh and they need to add fried okra to the menu! FOOD TRUCK- The food truck comes to our neighborhood occasionally, which seems to be very convenient, unless half the neighborhood is there. Im going to break this review down. - It is a one man show, so be prepared to wait. He is very kind, courteous and is working his tail off. He is taking the orders, cashing everyone out, preparing, cooking and boxing all the food by himself. When 10+ families are showing up at a time this causes major delays. So if you plan to order, just be prepared to wait. -Check your order immediately before going home. We arrived at home and 2/3 of our sides were missing. Meaning I was immediately out a good bit of money. The sides are not inexpensive. In addition to this it meant for upset children. (Yes, I could have packed the exhausted and fussy children back up. However, the three of us were already exhausted from work, school and waiting 40 minutes for the food we had ordered). - The flavors are good. I would say it is better than average. The pulled pork was lean, the fried shrimp perfectly crispy, the Brunswick Stew was pretty good. -The prices- The are higher than I would have expected for what we received. At least one side should be included in the price of the protein that you choose (and actually provided when paid for). - Child friendly food- I have picky eaters and my children enjoyed the shrimp and the coleslaw (I gave them my coleslaw from my pulled pork sandwich as theirs were missing). Moral of the story- if you are ordering from the food truck do not expect convenience. It is faster to place a phone order on the way home from your favorite local BBQ place and pick it up. I've been here twice. The first time was great! This last time however....I will never return. My husband and I sat down ordered 2 teas, pickles and our meal. 30 mins later we were still waiting on food. Drinks appeared but nothing else. Mind you we were the only ones in the place waiting for food!!! There were 3 other tables who had been completely served and us. It took the waitress 30 mins to finally make an appearance at our table to tell us that they were having issues with the friers and would be comping our pickles. At this point I told her to not worry about it, that I would pay for our drinks and we would go somewhere else. To which she replied let me get a manager....more yelling from the back. While visiting Savannah for our anniversary we decided to try this place out. We went for lunch and got there a little early so it wasn't too busy. By the time we left the place had filled up and was a bit loud, but not too bad. The service was good and even the manager came by to check on us at the end. The food overall was very tasty! We had the fried green tomatoes, the Release the Kraken and the Diamond Point, and we loved it all. We also tried the mashed sweet potatoes and the Mac and cheese and both were super tasty! My husband and I were very happily surprised by all of the geeky names on the menu. Overall definitely a great find and worth a try if you're in the area. I do think the food is a bit on the pricey side, so if we lived in Savannah it probably wouldn't be a weekly visit type of place. read more
