Service was incredibly warm, and our waiter gave helpful recs when navigating the wine menu, which featured mostly wines from Lebanon. For 2, we got: - baba ghannouj - muhammara - dips come with fresh, fluffy, warm pita - batata hara (crispy, spicy fried potatoes with garlic) - heirloom tomato (with garlic toum and sunflower seeds) - octopus - lamb chops Everything was delicious and extremely flavorful! The heirloom tomatoes were a standout dish: fresh, packed tons of flavor, and I loved how everything went together. The waiter mentioned they're seasonal and will be swapped out for something for the fall season soon. Dips and potatoes were excellent. Octopus was the one weaker spot. The skewer was a bit small and the preparation left the meat a little lackluster and chewy (I'm picky with my octopus!) The lamb chops were very tender with tons of flavor - char, mint, meat. A bit heavy but might just be because I don't eat a ton of red meat. I was VERY full by the end of the meal! I think we could have done 1-2 fewer dishes and still been very satisfied, but I'm glad I got to try so many things. The mains took a while to come out, though I enjoyed the longer, non-rushed, 'let's chat over delicious bites for hours' feeling of the meal overall. Great dining experience. The bill came to about ~$100 per person for the above + a drink (one wine, one mocktail) each. Between the fantastic ambiance, service, and high quality flavors, I found it to be worth the price and great for a treat yourself outing, date, or special occasion.

The food at Boutros was solid--flavorful and well-prepared. However, the overall experience was underwhelming due to a few key issues. First, the host gave off a noticeably unwelcoming vibe. We were greeted with a curt "Can I help you?"--a phrase that felt more like walking into a service counter than a restaurant. It was an odd tone to set right at the door. As someone familiar with Lebanese hospitality, this was a far cry from the warm "ahlan wa sahlan" you would usually hear walking into a café in Lebanon. That warmth and generosity, which are hallmarks of the culture, simply weren't there at Boutros. On top of that, the service was slow throughout the meal. While the staff were polite, it took longer than expected to get basic things like water refills and check-ins between courses. It definitely impacted the flow of the dining experience. Maybe it was just an off night--I am willing to believe that. I might give Boutros another shot in the future, but not anytime soon. There are other Lebanese spots in the city that deliver not only on flavor, but also on the gracious hospitality that completes the experience. read more

Thoroughly outstanding dinner here on a recent trip to NYC! We were starving after long flights and my friend picked this place off of OpenTable more or less at random. Everything was so good and so delicious! I had a delicious concoction to drink that had ginger, cucumber, and vodka. The bread they brought was fresh and warm. We ordered several small plates to share: everything was delicious and I don't remember what all of it was at this point, but I particularly recommend the bulgar -- we mostly ordered it to accommodate my vegetarian friend, but it was unexpectedly delicious (and, I think, I had some stealth meat in it, but we just decided not to say anything and I don't think she noticed LOL). We had a great table upfront by the window. It looked like a nice variety of seating options throughout the restaurant. Some conventional tables, some hightops, what looked like a communal table, and even a small bar with about four seats looking back into the kitchen. I would definitely come back if I were in town again! read more

The food at Boutros is quite good. We had a variety of dishes and we enjoyed them all (except maybe the kale tabbouleh which was mostly dry chopped kale). The flavors of the dishes all worked well and the plates were well executed. I wouldn't say the food is very ethnic or middle eastern (I grew up in such a home), but there are a few flavors incorporated on mostly modern continental cuisine, which worked well. Service was friendly. Drinks took a long time, and the bartender looked overwhelmed at peak hour on a Saturday evening, but our server did a pretty good job and was pleasant, even if she lacked some finesse/experience. Food arrived in very good time (not too long, not too quick). Atmosphere is very nice, however the sound system could be improved to help the atmosphere instead of fighting it. Frequencies are a subtle but important detail (for me). All in all, we enjoyed our night out at Boutros, and kudos to the kitchen for turning out some great food. I would recommend eating there. read more
