Had chicken on waffle with the chicken being incredibly greasy and the waffle being soggy in the sauce they put it in. Brussel sprouts were inundated in bacon and maybe cheese. It was a heavy dish. This is a great spot! Once again, thanks to Yelp for finding the good places. If you only look at the amount of people waiting to get it, I would have gone to a place down the block. I had the house blend from Bulleit Bourbon and it was some of the best bourbon I've ever had, wow! I also had a local beer that was on tap, but I don't recall the variety. As for food, I had 3 small plates. The asparagus fries weren't anything special, but the other two were great. There was a fried baloney slider and a fried pork belly that was just outstanding. Easily one of the best restaurants I have eaten at, not just in Manhattan but anywhere. Not only is the food incredible, but the service is some of the best I have ever experienced at a restaurant. The whole environment is created to be fun, laid back, while still feeling upscale. A perfect date night spot or place to entertain out of town guests. First, the cocktails. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Honorable mention would be the whiskeyrita, which is part of their happy hour deal and phenomenal for the price. You'll find yourself ordering "just one more" more times than you think. Next, the food. I haven't had a bad thing on this menu, but the Star is by far their fried chicken. Any dish with this perfectly crispy fried chicken is sure to blow you away. My personal favorite is the chicken and waffles, which has one of the best balance of flavors I have experienced in any dish. It's savory, sweet, and spicy all at the same time and yet they all blend seamlessly together. That juicy fried chicken has no comparison. One day I hope to fry a chicken half as well. Don't leave without dessert. Even though we're always stuffed full with delicious food, we make sure to take home one of their slice of the day cake slices for a late night snack. The food tastes amazing, the drinks are great (my latest craze is the Goslings "dark and stormy"), and the services is both knowledgeable and friendly. They switched from vegetable oil to peanut oil - those with nut/legume allergies should be careful! My husband and I are on a predominantly plant based diet. Bourbon and Baker was one of the few places in town that we could dine at. The first time we went, we asked about the oil that was used and our waiter checked with the kitchen to confirm it was canola/vegetable oil. It has been a while since we have had the time to go out. We went yesterday, and my husband mentioned to our waiter that he has a nut allergy. She told us that they only use Peanut oil now. I have been a chef for 24 years. I visited Bourbon and Baker in November of '21. I looked online at the menu and liked what I saw, so I decided to go. As I walked I was greeted warmly and I asked to sit at the bar. The bar was crowded but not full. I sat down and was asked if I had been to Bourbon and Baker before (I hadn't) and was asked if I was familiar with Tapas (small plate) menus, I said I was familiar. I ordered a whiskey punch and deviled eggs, DELICIOUS! Then I ordered the smoked chicken and pablano dip, ALSO DELICIOUS! Then the bologna slider and finally asked Allison for her reccomendation and she reccomended the fried chicken drumstick, WOW! Everything tasted wonderful. The food was great, the drinks were great, the atmosphere was great, I cannot say enough good things about Bourbon and Baker!!
