Excellent brunch place! The service is great. We got here late Sunday morning and the place was packed. But the service was still fast and attentive. The skillets are wonderful! We tried the Colonel and the Southwest chicken, both are great. The southwest chicken has a great sauce, which is flavorful but not overpowering. Very pleased with our food here. read more

When we arrived, I was told it would be a 20 minute wait. It turned into 30 minutes. However the staff was really nice and friendly. This location has a friendly/ home-y, small town restaurant feel. The scrambled eggs were really good. But the sausage was cold. Probably because of timing it with the eggs. The biscuits were super good, nice, light, fluffy. Gravy wasn't anything special though. The pancake, which is obviously not pictured, was super dry. For the wait time, the fact that you can't make a reservation, and the quality. I would say that it's a 2.5/5. Nice little restaurant. We were able to get right in and be seated. The wait staff was not great. The waitress only came to our table one time and we had to ask for refills. Service is attentive and kind. I do have a tendency to get cold in A/C but with the way the air is constantly moving here, I get the feeling that it is intentional to keep the patrons from lingering too long. Floors are not carpeted so the atmosphere is a bit loud, but that is much preferred over a carpeted dining area that no doubt gets nasty as it absorbs are the messes. Booths are wooden, they are essentially a child's play drums, so when a child is sitting in an adjoining booth and insists on constantly kicking their own seating, you can't help but feel and hear it incessantly. #familydiner Half&Half is served with coffee, thankfully. It's cold and within it's so consume-by-date. The only room for improvement here would be to do away with serving it in their convenient plastic containers to reduce waste, but I can understand having kids at a table would make an open container susceptible to spills. English Muffins are hearty, maybe a little tough, but serviceable. I prefer a lighter, more delicate muffin, but these will serve wonderfully for those with a big appetite. I do believe that the EM was served with a margarine product and not real butter, as it did not melt on the warm surface. It tastes fine, but butter would've been better in my view. If lactose sensitivities are the cause for the oil-based choice, clarified butter would be ideal. I didn't try one this visit but I've had one from here before and they are not great. I confirmed during this visit that the cinnamon rolls are not house- nor locally-made, so I'd steer clear of those unless you've never had them homemade. Poached eggs were cooked very well (gooey yolk) and the hollandaise was tasty. Potatoes were crispy but tender inside. And ham is ham. It was probably a bit to "fatty" for my liking as I hate really chewy fat on my meat, but that is probably just a personal preference. Overall, this is a family diner and if that is your jam, you'll be happy with the atmosphere. And with just a few changes, I could give this 5stars but as it is, this place gets a solid 4. read more

Very cute and homey place! It is located south side of town. I didn't think they had a huge menu but it had enough choices. I had a really big sweet tooth so I chose their stuffed French toast. Pretty yummy I really enjoyed them. All the staff were extremely friendly. You can tell this is a family place so expect to get good service. I will definitely come again. Took twice as long for a table as we were told, which I understand, but then when seated (and very hungry!) were ignored for another 10 minutes, no menus, no water. This place is always busy and doesn't take reservations, so if you arrive after 9:30 on a weekend be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes if not more. Thankfully I had the inside scoop and arrived early for breakfast with some old friends. Many years ago one of the executives at First Watch gave a talk I attended and he shared some of the "secrets" of that establishment. Exactly X minutes before someone is at your table, X minutes that your order comes up, X times the waitstaff must visit the table. This location of this restaurant, which is really a take on the First Watch concept (breakfast and lunch only, quite varied menu), takes these sorts of checkmarks to the extreme. Our waitress stopped by our table just under a dozen times during our meal, asking if we needed a coffee top-up or anything else. She brought the ketchup and hot sauce we desired even before our plates arrived. The runners were quick to bring food out and take empty plates away, before we could even think about pushing them slightly away. Good, not great food. Friendly service, run almost entirely by students under the age of 25. A wait if you're not early. Not good/distinguishable enough to wait instead of driving a mile down the road to Denny's if you're just catching up with friends. read more

Early Edition is somewhat of a K-State themed restaurant, at least while I was there on graduation weekend. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. The seating includes tables, booths, and bar seating. The coffee is quite tasty and I asked which brand it was. They only serve breakfast and lunch here and close at 2:30pm. I had the California Skillet, which was quite tasty with potatoes, avocado, cheese, and eggs cooked to order. There was a bit of a line on a Sunday morning, but it was expected since my group arrived later in the morning. Overall, this is a great place for breakfast. read more

Early edition is a local breakfast joint that was always packed with people and had a line waiting outside before the pandemic happened. My wife and I used to go in every Sunday morning for a great breakfast before doing the weekly shopping run. Cat Backer skillet is hands down my favorite dish there with bacon, sausage, eggs, ham and hash browns under cheese in a skillet. The pancakes are huge and they have plenty of options with them. The owners are almost always on site and like to talk with patrons who come and eat. A must visit if you are in the Little Apple. read more

I was at the Candlewood EE and was very unhappy with the customer service. I arrived by myself -- a senior citizen -- and waited to be seated. And waited. And waited. After several minutes, three people walked in behind me and a young woman immediately addressed their presence and sat them. I said to her, "Please seat me next." She was very indifferent and said nothing. She finally sat me. My waitress was lovely. Took my order. When my food was ready, the aforementioned rude young woman brought out my food and slid the plate in front of me. I said," Thank you." She walked away and said nothing. Nobody wore a nameplate so I don't know any names. My waitress was super-friendly and I tipped her 30 percent. But I doubt I will ever go back to EE. read more
