I was part of a group of 10 who had a late lunch here on a Tuesday. The service was fantastic! The food was excellent! Everyone was so happy with everything they ate. The consensus from my group on the scones: they are divine! I am on a picky eating plan, and I was able to eat on plan (no dairy, no grains). I had the Greek salad with no lavka and no feta. It was WONDERFUL!!! The dill lemon vinaigrette was so tasty. The veges were so fresh. I added chicken and it was not only seasoned well, it was nice and cold for a salad. A nice niche coffee shop in the main Manhattan strip (: Bluestem has two different operating menus - depending on which days you're going! They have plenty of seating and a rush if clientele. We arrived right after they opened and got our coffee fresh and food pretty quickly, but turned around and saw the HUGE line at the counter. The space is very open and welcoming ! We came here because they are dog friendly (at least on the patio). The food was great too! Really liked the turkey and cranberry on wheat and of course I LOVED the cinnamon roll! The service was great and the staff were all very friendly! The ambiance has sort of a cool indie feel. Overall I really liked this place! The only thing that was a minor annoyance was they wanted a tip for counter service, self service water, and self service microwave. Current tip entitlement culture drives me nuts! If they had table service I'd drop 18% for a tip.... If I'm filling my own water and warming up my own cinnamon rolls, sorry - I can't feel good about paying a tip. read more

Looks like a nice little bistro tucked into Aggieville. The outdoor seating area is very nice, although at this time it was noisy due to the ongoing construction. Food was very bland, lukewarm, and not worth the money. I had the breakfast bowl which had some strange aioli sauce on it. I seemed to be prepared in a microwave. (I wish places without a proper kitchen would just stick to pastries and breads.) The toast was the best tasting item, and the coffee good, although no refills. Food was brought out to us, but we bussed our on tables. Why not just skip the delivery you could pick up your own food and do away with the tipping. I will not return. read more

Genuinely surprised to see the overall high score this place gets. Our breakfasts were totally lame. One of us had a breakfast burrito which it turns out is a microwave it yourself item and was dry and bland. I ordered a buffalo chicken quiche but was sheepishly offered instead a ham and jalapeno with hash brown quiche which I accepted. Neither item really had any flavor particularly the burrito which had visible but tasteless bacon and could have benefited from some sour cream. The fountain soft drink had a strong chlorine smell, maybe a new water filter on the fountain or the ice maker would help. The counter help was friendly and it was neither overpriced nor slow. WE could not have been more pleased with the outcome, friendly and helpful young ladies at the front counter to place the order with and suggested things we should have, I had the Patty melt with the soup and it was very good.The wife the Paleo Pulled Pork and she loved it and my daughter had the Chicken and Sun dried Tomato on Ciabatta, not a complaint anywhere. My two friends and I ate here for lunch but I'm not sure how we decided on this place. lol I think it was the Yelp ratings that lead us here. It was around 12:40pm on a Sunday when we came in and there was a semi-short line. The place was relatively full with a few tables here and there available. Since it was Sunday, they had their Sunday brunch menu up. I saw on the floor that they had a bunch of other menus that would probably be swapped in for whichever day it was. There was also a LCD monitor that showed the specials for the day. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito that came with fruit for $5.99 and an original bubble tea ($3.25). I was thinking the original bubble tea would be something that I was used to; however, that wasn't the case and I was disappointed. My friends ordered a Breakfast Sandwich and a Potato Salsa Quiche. We waited for our food to come which took awhile especially my order. My Breakfast Burrito was okay but was better when I added some Cholula Hot Sauce. I like that hot sauce especially with eggs which was in my breakfast burrito. The potatoes on my plate didn't taste good to me so I didn't finish them. The fruit tasted fresh so that's good. The interior of this place totally felt like a place where college students could grab a bite (or drink) to eat and study. There was a room that could probably hold a few people which seemed more private than the rest of the place. They brew their own beer (I think that's what the girl said) and that we could try some for either $4.99 or $5.99 (unless I misheard completely). What a cute addition to Aggieville. Bluestem is the type of place that makes you want to wake up early and enjoy coffee... even when you're not a morning person ! I loved going here during my visits to Manhattan and am currently missing its vibe during quarantine. The muffins here are amazing along with just about everything on the menu. Your food is always out quickly too, so if you're coming on a empty stomach be prepared to have that hunger satisfied in a timely manner with some great food. Everything was good, except for my burrito. I don't even know what it was covered in, maybe cheese or gravy. The amount of the mystery goo on my plate was enough to fill an ocean. I'm really on the fence about this review. We are in town for a wedding and we were starved for a nice breakfast. After walking around and finally deciding to eat here we stood in line for breakfast burritos and we weren't to impressed to find out that they offer nothing for breakfast dairy free. Not even a bagel. My wife who has a very bad dairy allergy had to sit and watch everyone eat because everyone in our party ordered ahead of us. They pre-make the burritos then you have to go to the whole 1 of 2 microwaves to prepare your own food. Kind of weird.. Then to top everything off you bus your own table (which is hard to find due to all the "tools" sitting on their laptops taking up space looking at Facebook or sports because they obviously can't afford WiFi at their own homes or dorms.. My favorite thing about coming back to Kansas is finding an americano at a reasonable price. The staff has been friendly every time I've been in. I wish they would post their menus and the times online. It seems like every time I go, I find out that the food item I want isn't being served at that time. Had early lunch today here, ordered turkey, bacon, avocado panini. was very good, companions had Italian panini which he reported was spicy but good and lamb gyro. Companion would not recommend lamb gyro as it was tough and served not in a typical gyro pouch but on naan bread. Service was quick and friendly. High recommend. Been here a few times with a great atmosphere inside or outside. Whether it is studying inside with great coffee or other drinks option or bring a dog and hanging out on patio furniture. Service and the taste of food has always been wonderful. I just figured out I am slightly lactose intolerant and they were extremely helpful with needed substitutions and questions. They also have few options for vegetarians or vegan food and they also have paleo food options. Most recently I had a gyro and smoothie. Bluestem is conveniently located in Aggieville but just has a very uninspired food menu. I suppose it is fine for someone with basic tastes but I just find it boring. When my dad visited, we went here and he made me walk out because he didn't see anything appealing on the menu. I have come here for gatherings in the private conference room as well as informal lunch meetings with colleagues. I have tried a panini, pizza, salad, mac n cheese - all obviously basic types of food. The quality is fine but it is certainly nothing gourmet. What I do like is that Harney and Sons tea is available. It is a good place to meet and grab a drink but I'd recommend skipping the food unless you like quiche, soups, and salads a lot. read more

Bluestem Bistro is a nice, welcoming coffee shop in the heart of Aggieville. It's always crowded with students studying and has a great atmosphere for relaxing with friends or getting some work done. The employees are always nice and helpful. The coffee that I've tried has been very good and, while I haven't eaten there, the food looks delicious and I have heard great things about it. Bluestem also has a nice patio so you can sit and enjoy your coffee outside when the weather is nice. Staff was appropriately friendly, coffee was delicious and my sausage-pepper jack burrito was eaten with gusto! The crowd was diverse - those that are studying or working took seats towards the back of the restaurant, while there were tables of young women socializing upfront. I saw one cowboy hat.
