I am basing my review only on the cookie bake as its a good reason to come here. Between the four of us we ordered 3 varieties; chocolate chip, oatmeal cinnamon apple, and I got the special white chocolate macadamia. After tasting all three...I would say mine was the best. However that wasn't the consensus. The others voted for the chocolate chip. Regardless, how can you not like hot gooey sweet cookie topped with rich creamy vanilla ice cream?? I would "choke" down :) any of the variations. Should you stop here for a sweet afternoon treat or after dinner desert? Absolutely! I really like the location, but other than that, I mean--the food is really bland and it always seems to take way too long for what it is no matter how slow or busy they are. Atmosphere-wise, it's rather cold and noisy. I only go if someone asks me to, and because it's right by my house. But meh. read more

We came in to get a cookie bake. We were sat and our order was taken quickly. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for the cookie bake to arrive. The cookie bakes came out in a styrofoam dish instead of the typical dish. The cookie was stuck to the bottom of the styrofoam. No one ever came to check on us or refill our waters. We were waiting on our check for a long time. We ended up asking a random worker who was cleaning a table to bring our check. We were ready to go and had cash to break. No one ever came by so we came up with enough cash and coins to pay our table rather than waiting. The workers were too busy cleaning or talking. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner but mostly for their famous cookie bake. When we came on a Saturday night it was super busy and we stood in the entrance confused on where to go. Turns out after standing awkwardly in the entrance and waiting about 5 minutes and multiple servers walking past us to help guests outside.. we found out it was open seating. We got a table which had crumbs and such on it, and when it was wiped down I still had to wipe some crumbs off with napkins. Not super appetizing... but we were hungry so we decided to stay. Our waitress was ok, but fell short of my expectations for a good waitress. For instance, when receiving our food we had to get up and ask for silverware. Anyways we got our food, and my boyfriend had the Texas Mac and Cheese which was delicious and I had the Pub and Cheese Burger which was an average burger, nothing too special. The cookie bake we ordered was delicious, and we both enjoyed those. Overall, I think this place would be an ideal stop for a dessert fix... but not for a whole meal. read more

I ordered Mr K's for the first time today and was so disappointed. The reason I chose this restaurant to order from in the first place was because I wanted chicken noodle soup. The soup had no broth at all and was insanely salty .... I took 2 bites and couldn't eat the rest of it. I also ordered the hummus dip. It was suppose to come with half pita and half bagel chips .... there were only 3 pieces of pita. I also ordered the garlic pesto panini but after I placed my ordered I was called and informed that they didn't have that menu item so instead I got the Asiago Club. It was so dry and so bland I had to put condiments that I had at home on it to give it flavor. Definitely won't be eating Mr K's again. read more

The Cooke Bake is a must-try! A long time Manhattan staple, Mr. K's is a nice little cafe with a surprisingly extensive menu. It's perfect for lunch or a relaxed dinner. The atmosphere is nice - it is well decorated with K State apparel and always clean. The prices are a little high for what it is, but overall not bad. If you're on the west side of town and looking to try a great local restaurant, I highly recommend Mr. K's! read more

I really like this place. It is hidden away in the same parking lot as Old Chicago, but the food and atmosphere is waaayyy better (in my opinion). Got our food delivered, and honestly was really disappointed. The soup that we got was watery and bland, and the croutons that came with it were fairly burnt. We also got a panini, and the edges of the bread were really tough to bite through. Mr. K's is a neighborhood joint. It was recently renovated so there are nice floors. The place has a bar, booths, tables, and outside seating including fire pits. It is open for weekend brunches, lunch and dinner. I have been here three times and it is fine. To be honest, I find the food very boring - it is salads, sandwiches, paninis, and soups. There are only 4 appetizers on the menu. I guess it is basic, but the food does come out fast and hot so that is good. We came for brunch once and the guys seemed pleased with their enormous bloody marys and other brunch booze. The servers are very nice and efficient, and it is a decent place to watch sports (like the full house last night to watch the Royals). The best part about the place is the decor - the walls are covered in K-State historical pictures, articles, posters, and other cool things that keep customers examining all of the interesting information and pictures on every corner. When I visit my boyfriend in Manhattan, we always get dinner at Mr. K's. We haven't dined in yet, we always do takeout, but the inside looks like a fun bar and grille-type restaurant. I order the chicken bacon ranch flatbread. Very tasty. My boyfriend orders the Buffalo chicken dip. His only compliant is that the tortilla chips are the thin cantina tortilla chips, and they easily break under the weight of the dip. The crown jewel of our dinner is the chicken enchilada soup. This soup is so good that I found a recipe so that I can make it myself in between my visits to Manhattan. read more

I was really looking forward to eating at one of my favorite places tonight, but I'm leaving terribly disappointed and will not return. Not only was the food terrible, the manager did not care when informed of the situation. There was no crab or lobster in the crab lobster fondue and the cheese tasted terrible while the pecans were stale and soft on the chicken and spinach salad. I was forced to pay for two items I could not eat. I explained about both items to both the server and the manager, I understand with Covid it is difficult to get things started again. The manager was very unfriendly and could've cared less whether I was happy or not. She finally offered a coupon for my return, but forced me to pay for two items I could not eat. This is one of my favorite go-to places on those nights when I'm hungry but I don't know what I want. Their paninis are excellent and the combo options of soup and paninis are great. I love the Asiago Club and the Pork Ciabatta. As for the flatbreads, you can't go wrong with the Buffalo Chicken flatbread (which I just had the other night). Their salad options are pretty good, too, with the Cranberry Chicken Spinach a personal favorite. My only negative comment is its kind of small and it gets pretty full on weekends. I wish they could expand a bit, but that might make it lose its cozy feel. Be sure to try the cookie bake, a large warm cookie in a ceramic bowl with ice cream. For the main dinner we got a chicken bacon ranch flatbread pizza first I wanna say the flavor of the pizza was the best I've had ever but the center of the flat bread was doughy and lifeless. My fiancee and I were visiting my parents in Manhattan and decided to take a walk around the neighborhood and happened upon Mr. K's, and we were so glad that we did! Mike took great care of us and showed us some great Midwestern hospitality. They have some quality local beers on tap (Tall Grass Pale Ale) and a full bar.
