Perfection. Another great find on a weekend road trip to KY. This is a must do if you are in the area. The restaurant is in a charming, converted house in Mainstrasse. We started with the cheese plate and I discovered my new love of manchego. The four course tasting menu is the way to go because you can try a little of everything. What a delightful experience! We went for the Tasting menu $60/person with wine pairing additional $40/person. Started of with charcuterie and it was grreat. Plating was pretty and everything was nicely balanced between salty, sweet and the sour. First, second and the third dishes were all delicious! Broccoli and Brussels were very tasty so as the smoked pork belly. The denver steak was nicely done medium rare per my request and well seasoned and very tender. The duck was very tasty as well. Capped with deserts, some were dry like the chocolate cake but it was all okay for me. All our dishes were paired with wine (half pour) and only the third dish was a full pour (no refills BTW! ) Overall experience was enjoyable, our server was detailed with explanations re: our dishes and wine pairings. Actually, my rating would have been 4.5 just so you know that it skewed higher than just a 4 for me. Celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary, but had to find a place that was Covid safe which to us means eating outside even when it's cold out. We went with the tasting menu where you choose something for each of the three courses plus dessert. We like to share so that we can try more of what they have to offer. So in all, we had roasted parsnips, braised beef stew, wagyu beef meatballs, salmon braised brisket and scallops. For dessert, I opted for the chocolate peanut butter bar and hubby opted instead for the after dinner cocktail. He ordered a 1792 full proof bourbon that was 125 proof! He said that it was strong enough to knock his socks off. Truthfully, I think the best part about our time there was our server. She didn't hover but attended to our every need whole being friendly yet professional. Her name is Corie so if you can ask for her, please do. We love the pickle platter shareable. However, this time we ordered the menu tasting and received one item from each course. FIVE stars for the smoked old fashioned, which had the best taste ever, no doubt because they give it a small coating of smoked salt on the rim of the glass. I'm absolutely a huge fan of that cocktail and their bourbon collection - and they do know their bourbons! My SO loves bourbon and we often end up chatting with people about various brands and vintages and he can tell when people know what's what. Other highlights - our server was delightful and sweet. Despite all the praise, it has taken me until now to visit the wonder that is Bouquet. I'm so glad to say this restaurant lived up to every superlative that has been foisted upon upon it! The atmosphere is comfortable here. Nice enough for a special occasion but relaxed enough not to be stuffy. Our table started with the focaccia. The star of this dish is the house made Boursin cheese. Herby and impossibly creamy, it would make a brick delicious if you slathered it on. Next, we shared several starters including the braised carrots and the honeycrisp burrata salad. Both amazing, but the salad was especially revelatory because of marriage of crisp apples with the creamy burrata. Next, small plates, including the scallop pasta and meatballs. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the chili crisp on the meatballs elevated them to a new level. Finally, I had duck for my main. When I ordered I was complaining about the overuse of stringy, shishito peppers in unnecessary places. Bouquet showed me just how wrong I was! The bitter shishitos tempered the sweetness of the duck for one of my favorite bites of the night. We managed to finish with the dessert and the chocolate mouse was our surprise favorite; with lovely texture from the shortbread crust and the deep, dense chocolate, it was more pie than mouse, but we're not arguing! Service was flawless! Our server noticed that we liked to taste around the table and unprompted brought us sharing plates for the next course. What a delightful surprise to dine here. We did the tasting menu. Several courses and we ordered different from each other to sample each others choices. I truly believe there isn't a poor selection on the menu. The service was knowledgeable, well trained and attentive. The restaurant itself is unassuming to a fault. Dined here for dinner great experience! The food was so tasty and beautiful presentation. The 4 course tasting meanu was a very good value especailly for the quality food. I had the beet goat cheese salad, Tandori salmon- (amazing, my favorite) and loaded carrot cake. My friend had a cocktail she enjoyed and loved the Costa Rican Mahi. Hands down the best restaurant I've been to all year! We were there last night for a dear friends birthday, and we all had the best experience. The food was phenomenal - not only was the Vegan birthday girl happy, but so was lactose intolerant me! They have a housemade vegan boursin cheese they serve with the foccocia bread. It was absolutely Out. Of. This. World. I've never had a vegan cheese that delicious in my life. I litterally asked about purchasing some. I had the cucumber salad and the scallop pasta, both of which were delicious! And they were not skimp on the scallops! I ordered the banana cake, with vegan peanut butter mousse, which was to die for! Neil (or Neal? I'm not sure how he spelled it) was so kind and attentive. He also asked the kitchen if they could put something together for the birthday girl, when we all realized there was no vegan chocolate cake (we saw an old menu). My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate her birthday, and it was honestly a perfect dinner. The waitress (Hanna) was super sweet and explained everything amazingly. She asked if we were good with tap water or preferred a bottled water, and asked us if we drank alcohol before bringing out complimentary champagne glasses to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. She also explained that everything is prepared fresh and can be made to accommodate any dietary restriction. Those little things showed that they care about their customers' experience. Now for the food.... it was amazing! The motherboard was full of delicious cheeses, meats, and pickled foods we never would have thought to pickle. It was a fun experience. I ordered the Ohio valley burger which was juicy, tender, and amazing. The potato wedges were seasoned perfectly and were nice and crispy. My girlfriend really enjoyed her duck as well. Our drinks were also excellent. She had some sort of bourbon pumpkin spice drink that was unique and delicious. We've been to other "upscale" places in the greater Cincinnati area and just felt it was overpriced for such a tiny amount of food. We'll usually look at each other after dropping $100 easily for a special occasion and say, "are you still hungry? cause I am!" But this place had actual good portion sizes for decent prices. Our experience at Bouquet was lovely. I regret that I do not remember our server's name, because she was absolutely delightful and really enhanced our experience. First things first, I am lactose intolerant. When reviewing the menu, I informed our server of this and throughout the evening without me asking further questions or even knowing she took it upon herself to inform the kitchen to remove all dairy products from the meals. I was so impressed with this. Furthermore, she had extensive knowledge of the wine and I chose to go with the three course meal and wine pairing. I am very particular about my wine-- I let the server know my preferences and she was able to swap out wines that might suit my palate better and still go with the dishes. My first course was squash soup, second course chicken and "dumplings," third course, blueberry tart. Everything was delicious. Furthermore, they have a seasonal menu so if you're around and not able to get the exact thing I ordered it's likely because they're keeping up with what's freshest and in season-- please don't hesitate to give this place a try though. Bouquet was absolutely lovely for my birthday dinner! The tasting menu was incredible - sadly, I forgot to snap photos of our second course because the food was just too good! We tried the peach salad and gazpacho, each had clean and crisp flavors which provided a great start to the meal. For our second courses, we had the waygu beef meatballs and shrimp and grits. Both were STELLAR. The shrimp and grits is the best I've had outside the south. Our third courses were the steak and salmon. Both were great, but the salmon really stood out! The desserts were both well composed and I was very impressed with the portion sizes! The only downside to this meal was the ambiance. Bouquet is on the smaller side so upstairs, the sound carries. We sat adjacent to a large party and it was quite loud, which made it difficult to hear our server at some points. With that being said, our server was very kind, conversational, and accommodating. He ended the night for us with the most perfect birthday martini. I'd definitely recommend a visit to Bouquet for a special occasion or celebration! read more

My husband & I decided to celebrate our 11 year anniversary at Bouquet Restaurant this month. I've had my eye on this place and I really wanted to love it, but unfortunately I just didn't. The staff & service was great! Everyone was friendly and helpful & knew the menu well. The dishes looked beautiful & you could tell that the chefs in the kitchen are skilled. The restaurant itself was beautiful, I enjoyed all of the decor & ambiance. Our waitress brought us sparkling wine to celebrate which was so nice & delicious. We both decided to order the tasting menu so we chose two options for each of the 3 courses + dessert, because we wanted to try all of the things! 1st course: We got the tartine - I ordered it because I thought it was real ceviche, but just chopped melon, it was ok. We also got the panzanella - delicious flavors, but the focaccia bread was difficult to chew. 2nd course: wagyu beef meatballs - interesting flavors, then it dawned on me that it tasted like a Big Mac. A deconstructed, very fancy Big Mac with elevated ingredients. Hey. I like Big Macs, it was yummy & the only protein we really enjoyed. We also got the shrimp & grits - good but way too salty. 3rd course: hubby ordered the sakura farm denver steak & I ordered their famous maple leaf farm duck. That day, I learned that I don't enjoy duck & my husband learned that he thinks farm to table steak tastes too gamey. Neither of us finished our dishes (I finished his steak lol). The waitress looked surprised & offered us boxes, we declined. Dessert: if I could do it all over, I would've ordered a charcuterie board, meatballs & every dessert on the list. We chose the chocolate peanut butter bar & the cookie trio. Both were phenomenal. The golden moon milk with the cookies was heaven in a cup, more of that please! & I'm a lover of anything chocolatey & nutty so my bar was divine. The dessert was definitely the best part of the entire meal. While each dish looked gorgeous & appetizing, we felt there was just too much going on with each dish. Ingredients we couldn't identify, sauces that didn't pair well. Sometimes a simple dish done well, is better than complex. Something we missed was some starch to balance all the acidity & strong flavors. Some potatoes with the steak would have been nice, some noodles with the meatballs maybe? Something starchy & comforting to hold it all together. Overall I'm still grateful for the experience. I just wrote another review for a similar place that was the worst. I am following it up with writing this review about a place that is the best. Bouquet is AMAZING in every way. My partner and I make it a MUST to eat here every time we make it to Cincinnati and Covington. Please feel free to move to Indy and we will make sure that happens. The food is unbelievably delicious. Have not had a thing yet. My favorite is the meatballs. My partner's is the carrots. The wine pairings are always perfect. My partner has food sensitivities to gluten and dairy. I've been meaning, and really excited, to check out Bouquet for the longest. Every single time I've hard about someone dining there, seen what they put on facebook, or even just looked at their menu, I've thought it seems like my kind of place - local, thoughtfully sourced, excellently crafted, elevated American. I was not at all disappointed with my experience. My mom and I met up here before Thanksgiving since we'd both be out of town the day of, and had a pretty special meal. Starting with the cheeseboard and meatballs, then going to salads, and finishing with a shared entree (which neither of us even had room for after the delicious starters). That cheese board - really well selected, excellent flavors and textures, no two cheeses were similar, and all of them hit a different point on the palate. Smokey, bitter, sharp, slightly sweet, they were all represented. The mustard, house jelly, and house pickled veggies, all went great with the flavors and the crostinis. Meatballs were served at the same time and may have had the best cook on a meatball that I've had here. Yes they are pricey for 3, but they are well sized, flavorful, and as an appetizer, perfect for sharing. Salads got somewhat mixed reviews from the waitress (she was honest and said she doesn't like beets, so she doesn't like the beet salad), but we tried both on the winter menu and loved them. They made great usage of what's seasonal, and they were much larger servings than I had expected. Our shared entree though, was the true highlight. Going for the duck breast, I was a little worried - I love a good duck breast, but if you don't do it right it isn't nearly worth the cost. They don't do it right. They do it perfectly. Literally the best cook I have ever had on a duck breast, crispy sear with a med-rare interior that stayed juicy without being toothy. Every single thing that went on the plate combined for the perfect entree, from the potatoes to the pickled apples, they all complimented one another. A must try if you go! The only "sticking points" are the price and service - this is not a cheap restaurant by any means, but you get a LOT for your dollar, not just in quantity but in quality. There are few places I've eaten in this city that have made me as satisfied as Bouquet, and none of them are any more "affordable" on a weekend. Unfortunately the service had little excuse for a Monday evening. The waitress was friendly, and seemed to have intentionally slowed our courses for us at first, but also forgot a drink for an exceptionally long period (though they have diet boylan on tap which is dope), and then rarely refilled that drink through the meal. This adorable restaurant is located in a picturesque part of the Main Strauss village in Covington with tall street lamps and potted plants along the sidewalk. My first visit was with a girl friend on a Thursday evening and we were able to snag the last outdoor table available. We made reservations beforehand. The service was very well timed, with appropriate silverware brought out before each course very discretely and enough waiter check-ins to ensure we were pleased with our meal but not too much to be intrusive. We got the tasting menu which was 4 courses including dessert. I got the tomato salad as it was the last weekend for good tomatoes this season. It was very fresh and delicious. For the second course, I got the chicken and dumplings which was a lighter version of the usually heavy comfort food. You could taste the fresh farm-to-table veggies and freshly made gnocchi in this dish. For the third dish, I got the scallops on a bed of perfectly seasoned lentils. The scallops were seared but not tough. For drinks, we both got the cocktail with rose, lemon, gin, and Prosecco. It was light but flavorful. Perfect for a Thursday night. The desserts weren't spectacular. I got the lemon sponge cake which was dry Andy friend got the pumpkin turnovers which she didn't particularly like but I thought they were pleasantly flaky and well spiced. Ridiculously good food. The flavors all worked well together, and every bite was perfectly seasoned. From the herb oil and salt in the burrata and the perfectly seared buttery scallops to the cream sauce pool the steak sat on and the bitter orange glaze on the cake, there was not one bite I didn't thoroughly enjoy. That goes for the bits I took home for brunch the next day as well! The only restaurant I've been to in recent years that earns the right not to put salt and pepper on the table. Fantastic, friendly, and perfectly paced service. Great value. Lovely space. Delicious cocktails. The tables are situated fairly close together, so not very private for conversation, but this did not detract from the experience once we had our first taste of the food. High hopes after seeing good ratings but unfortunately bad experience. Ordered simple drinks and found that they line the glass of an bourbon based old fashion with a ton of salt. Salt and bourbon are NOT a good mix. This after we had to send the first cosmopolitan back because it tasted like 100% orange liqueur. Many cosmopolitan drinks my days and this was not a good one. Waited a full hour for our first salad course. The strawberry salad was so salty that it was inedible. Carrot salad was good but the two small carrots served were burnt. Portion size left us wanting. Waited another 1/2 hour for the second course. Received a burnt salmon with another massive load of salt on top. Also ordered scallop pasta which actually had good flavor but was side dish size with what looked like only one scallop cut into five pieces. This return-to-five-stars designation is WAY overdue on my part. We've been back to Bouquet at least a half-dozen times since my downgrade to four stars a few years back. All those visits indicate that Bouquet is one of the best three or four restaurants in the metro. In fact, it might be our favorite, overall. I just re-read my original review, and what I said there almost four years ago still goes: In short, Bouquet is not flashy or trendy or gimmicky, and it's not going to dazzle you conceptually, but will steadily impress you with an accumulation of many small fine moments and touches. Basically, the restaurant pretty much does a job that I'd call at least "very good" with respect to just about everything you want from a higher-end-but-still-relatively-affordable experience. One great addition in the last couple of years is a very affordable monthly tasting menu, which focus on regional ideas and local ingredients: four courses for forty bucks, with wine pairings for only twenty more. One back in the fall was as follows: --squash & greens with olive caper tapenade, parmesan crisp, & buttermilk garlic dressing --"angel" biscuit in cast iron, with farm vegetables, szechuan peppercorn honey, and pickles --coperta ("little blanket") pasta with venison ragu, pecorino, and purslane --chocolate tart with graham cracker crust, raspberry, caramel, basil mint powder The March tasting menu was this: --cured Kentucky carp with Anson Mills black rice, crispy shallots, pickled apple, and koji mayo --Shelltowee Farm mushroom pate with Broadbent Kentucky country ham, caraway tuile, dehydrated apple and onion powder, and sorghum --confit and fried pork belly with potatoes, chestnut and cherry cream, and apples soaked in red wine --an apple benne and seed tart with bourbon cream, brown sugar, and oat crumble, and apple gastrique As with most tasting menus, especially those in this price range, not everything is a home run--for instance, that cured carp from March pretty much got overwhelmed by the tart apple (you'll notice that apple was the theme there)--but the vast majority was delicious, and all was interesting. There are usually entree specials at any given time, too. My wife at had Asian-influenced amberjack dish a few months back; the couple of bites I got to try indicated one of the best dishes we've been served in Cincinnati. For whatever reason, I become less and less of a wine connoisseur with time (not that I ever was one), but I feel like Bouquet pays a lot of beneficial attention to pairing wines with food. My boyfriend lives nearby here and we've dined here regularly and every experience has been exceptional - or better! We've never had any food that was not absolutely amazing! I genuinely loved Bouquet! The space is very cozy and ideal for a date night. It isn't very big, so get in your reservations before coming in. As we entered on a Saturday night, the place was almost full. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table. We were starving so ordered a bunch of stuff. We got the Lobster dip with crostini and deviled eggs for appetizers. And I was impressed. The Lobster dip is one of the best I've had in Cincy. The Deviled eggs were creamy and delish as well. If you want to get one, I'd pick the lobster dip. For main course, I got the off the hook fish. They had the salmon that day. My friend got the Eggleston chicken. Both were phenomenal. The balance of flavors and uniqueness of the dish blew my mind! The entrees had disparate things that just worked together. For desserts, we got the Derby pie and chocolate torte. The Derby Pie is a pecan and chocolate chip pie. It was incredibly good. The crust was tender and flaky, and the filling was amazing. The chocolate torte was hard to cut but the taste was bang on!
