My Mr. wanted to reserve a room for my 50th Birthday but they were booked and this was months in advance he looked online & called. My lady and I have been wanting to come here for a while and finally did as part of my lady's 50th birthday celebration. We went with some very dear friends. At first, I was gonna reserve a private room, but those were booked pretty far in advance. Still, their main bar area was very cool, and the karaoke is free as long as you buy a drink. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Their libations menu is very nice with lots of specialty cocktails and mocktails. Their draft and bottle beer selection is great too. They specialize in sake and sake-based drinks. For my lady's birthday, I sang REO Speedwagon's "I Can't Fight This Feeling" for her, because she would sing that song for me while we were just friends. At the end of it, I proposed to her, and even the staff cheered afterwards and gave us free champagne to celebrate. It was an incredibly fun night and one neither of us will ever forget. My friends and I had a fabulous time here and I finally stepped on stage to do karaoke for the first time. You walk in and vibrant neon lights are everywhere. Honestly, every turn you take there's something eye popping. From the rainbow lanterns all down the hall to the giant murals, you're going to be whipping out that phone to snap a pic or two or five. The drinks were funky and put a tiki spin on the experience. I forget what the name of the drink I got was but it did have a beautiful orchid on top. The main stage was up front and the sound system was solid. The host was great too. I didn't take a look inside of the individual rooms but I have no doubt they were colorful and creative too. If you live in Cincy or you're just visiting, this is definitely a spot to check out. I'm glad I ripped the bandaid off and tried karaoke for the first time. I'll be honest, I wanted to like this place because the vibe is cool and I spent a good amount on drinks, but the karaoke setup kinda killed it for me. There was one guy going up over and over again, like multiple times, while other people barely got a shot. That already felt off. Then at one point I went up to join in on a song, and someone (not even the actual DJ) told me I didn't know the lyrics and made me get off. Which didn't really make sense because the lyrics are literally on the screen, and it wasn't even some random song. It just felt inconsistent -- like one person can keep going up, but someone else can't even join in once. I get that there have to be rules, but if that's the case they should be clear and applied to everyone the same. A limit on how many times someone can go up would honestly make the experience way better. Cool concept, but the way karaoke was handled made it feel pretty uneven. read more

I visited Tokyo kitty for the first time this week for a friend's birthday and we had such a good time! I really liked that you can rent your own room and do your own karaoke and once the time is up, you can continue the fun in the larger room. The private bartender was a nice touch and they have an easy system where you flip the sign so they are aware of when to stop by for service and when to leave you to the fun. The karaoke setup was also simple and easy to navigate. I wish they had more up to date music and artist but we were able to find some oldie but goodies as well. The drinks were reasonably priced and there was a full bar available. We also brought our own food which was an added touch for the event. The only downside is you can only rent an hour at a time which goes by so quickly. I think 1.5 hours would be a good starting point if they were looking to adjust the rental times at all. Ohhhh we loved this place! Tokyo Kitty was definitely the highlight of our trip! We came to celebrate our friend's wedding and took her out for a night on the town. We rented a private room for a very reasonable price, and spent the rest of the night in the main area. On peak evenings, TK only lets you rent out a room for an hour - which seems like a short amount of time, but continually singing for 60 minutes does indeed wear you out. An hour was plenty! The staff will happily take your drink order as you sing in the private room. The ambience of this place is perfection. Anime videos (Pokemon, specifically) play in the background of the main room as people sing to their heart's content. The drinks are cold and reasonably priced. I am taking off one star because it really is impossible to get in contact with them on the weekends. On their voicemail, it straight up says they will not get back to you. I do feel like there could be a little more communication, but it did not deter us from our evening. If you're in Cincinnati, you have to check this place out for karaoke! read more

Reserved a room for two hours. Drinks are reasonably priced, well-crafted, and tasty enough. Employees were also pretty nice and helpful. But the actual experience felt bare and poorly-executed. Cheap. The rooms are very minimalist in design, are not soundproofed (can hear other rooms singing, not to mention the main club room), and the karaoke tech is TERRIBLE: The music defaults to weird keys, is randomly out-of-sync with on-screen lyrics, and the song library is so minimal (do not go to the Japan-themed karaoke bar and expect to karaoke any Japanese songs or anime titles). Add to that the removal of past elements like drinks being lowered through the ceiling and robot deliveries, plus a mandatory gratuity added to your room reservation fee (not just your drinks, which itself is sensible), and I can't help but feel Tokyo Kitty has gone out of their way to cheapen an experience (not the cost) that will eventually run out of one-time customers. Improvements I think could help: Karaoke client overhaul - install a system that works and has a broader selection of music. Probably get better microphones too. Automated drink order system - This is a rare business that actually NEEDS QR code mobile phone menu/ordering. Guests order drinks on their phones, and employees can deliver them as needed. Or, install the novelty drink-delivery system! Flipping a card in a window and waiting for someone to enter and try to juggle drink orders while customers are wailing into a mic is inefficient. Sound proof rooms - or sound dampening. If the hole in the ceiling is pointless to have anymore, get rid of it! Spruce up the place - a few graphic arts of some celebrities hung on the walls feels cheap and lazy (The mural of Eartha Kitt stays. It's so good and adds some real, actual character and warmth, but it's the ONLY thing.) Otherwise, add literally ANYTHING that says "You're in a place called 'Tokyo Kitty'!" read more

Such a cool place! We stopped in following a concert, and, wow, what a great vibe! Karaoke is a side-show at so many other bars, but it's the main event here. Our group aged 45-59 were certainly at the upper limit of the crowd present, but we got a definite sense that everyone's welcome here. The bar was well-stocked with several not-so-mundane choices available. We only visited the main bar and karaoke area, but the music was varied enough to keep everyone interested. We have had so much fun here in the past, but many of the things that made this location unique and exciting are no longer a part of the experience. I have attended parties with two different groups in recent months, and the service has declined each time. There was only one person working during the time we arrived, and though it was earlier in the evening (just prior to 7 pm), you would expect there to be at least a couple of workers to cover the bar and to check-in private room guests. Our private room, though plenty spacious for our group, had little luster compared to earlier experiences. The rooms, formerly fresh and inventively-themed, are now dingy and have little connection to the old themes (for instance, you wouldn't recognize a room being "Lost in Translation" themed. The rooms are now non-descript) . The robot that delivered drinks no longer functions, which is stated on the website. Unfortunately, the space is even more exorbitantly priced than when it opened and you had that unique service. Additionally, there were no servers available to take orders; though there was a little sign on the door that was to be used to request service, no one checked on us. We had to go get drinks at the bar, diminishing the expensive singing time. I would recommend sticking to the main karaoke space for the time being or avoiding the place altogether. The private rooms simply aren't worth it. I would suggest taking a look at other options in the area that might offer similar experiences. Tokyo Kitty is riding on its own previously successful coattails, and people keep signing up in hopes of it living up to their memories. What a shame, because we loved this place!! read more

The Staff was great, very nice!! Don't dress warm in there because it heats up in those small rooms. But the seating accommodates a nice size group. It's cozy! The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the two things: We ordered a pitcher of some tropical drink and it tasted like kool aid. Could not tell it was an alcoholic drink. They had this apparatus that allowed the drinks to come from the ceiling, it was a bit anticlimactic but I also had just come from Vegas this summer so it's hard to compare. One thing about me is I love karaoke. My work came here for a promotion party and it was so much fun. You get assigned a room and you get to sing your little hearts out. I'm not sure if they do this all the time but we were also able to sing in the big room too where the bar is at. I'm assuming it's because they were slow. The reason for the 4/5 starts is two reasons: 1. One room the songs were very slow. I would put on fast songs like "Forget You" and the pace was very slow. Not sure why 2. The rooms got so hot. I've been looking for a new karaoke spot for a while and then an opportunity arose on my friend's birthday last week to check it out! I loved the vibe of this place. The colors of the decor and the themes of all the rooms were awesome. It said on the website that there was main stage karaoke going on every night but there wasn't when we went. The cost was more than I would want to pay honestly. The private room was $50 an hour for six people, I felt was steep. Nothing else was included with that cost. We purchased a $60 pitcher of a mixed drink to split with everyone. The song selection was actually pretty good! We got a tablet to search for songs. We passed that tablet around and had everything from classic r&b to rap songs to numerous pop, rock, and Broadway songs! I didn't like how low the microphones were compared to the loud music. We couldn't hear our voices on the microphones unless we cupped the head of the microphone with our hands. Additionally, the room seemed pretty small for six people. It was SO HOT. I also din't feel like we got a lot of notice for the end of our session. We got a warning that this was our last song. I wish we had more notice so we could have chosen our last song better Overall, I had a gooo d time and would definitely go again! read more

So here's the deal - I'm getting the impression that the staff really won't care about the review so this is going to potential guests of the bar. We booked a private room online and got....no response? No confirmation email, payment wasn't withdrawn, nothing. Emailed a few times, no response. We finally did get a response, but at this point we were panic planning backup arrangements in case the room fell through. Once we got there, I tried to check in to the room. The woman behind the counter stared at me like I was from outer space. I asked if the room was ready, she said, "I guess?" So I asked if we could go in and she goes, "Why would you not be able to?" I asked which room we had been assigned and she rolls her eyes at me and says, "I have no idea?" Okay thanks. Another person comes over and I run through the same questions, he was maybe 2% more helpful before a third person comes over and is finally able to assist. At the end of the day, karaoke is the attraction here, so why are you clearly so annoyed at people trying to get to the private room that they paid for and are excited to use? For the most part, the bartenders were quick and cordial, so those interactions really threw me off. The drinks were hit or miss - some of the drinks were 100% made incorrectly but they tasted fine so I'm not going to really complain about that. (You might be asking - how do I know it was made wrong? A 7/7 only has two ingredients and it's pretty clear when it's not those.) The karaoke was fun and easy to use. The private room was awesome and the drink robot was a nice touch. When our time was up, we went back out to the main area and continued to sing/dance. The DJ was the best part of the night, honestly. He was fun and personable and kept the line moving politely. It's a fun place and definitely a cool place to check out if you're really into karaoke. If I could give 0 stars I would. A group of five of us had a table we had been sitting/standing at for hours. Eventually, two women come in to steal our table, that we were still standing/sitting around. My boyfriend went to move our stuff down away from these strangers and move the chair he was sitting on to the front of the table so he could sit, because he has a bad leg!! The woman got upset because the chair leg accidentally hit her as he was moving it. We apologized about it. She then tattled on us and the bouncer came and escorted him out. Never once did this bouncer let my boyfriend talk, every time he went to say his side the bouncer would tell him to calm down, when he never got erratic. Very much a one sided thing, man vs woman. Tokyo kitty, you should be ashamed on how you let this bouncer handle this situation. You guys! This is such a fun and random space! You definitely get the sense of walking into a different place right from the start. The stark white walls and flashing lights make me feel a little like I'm in a rave at an Ikea. It definitely has that "I am in a really cool nightclub and pretty soon the bouncer is gonna tell me I'm not allowed to be here" vibe. If you do not like singing karaoke, watching karaoke, or hearing karaoke, then this place is a hard pass for you. Besides drinking and people watching, the other pastime is karaoke. So the people watching is....epic. On the evening I was there, a man was singing anime theme songs....in Japanese. Because he can. And he was ahhhhmazing. There is one large room in front of the bar with a DJ spinning the tunes for the audience at large to sing along. But then you go down a long hallway and there are several mini rooms-each with their own theme, karaoke system, viewing window on the door (This is the best people watching), and space bar--yes, that is what I said and I mean it. There is an app, you order your drink, and it COMES OUT OF THE CEILING! What is this world we are living in?!?!? Jacob Trevino is going to give us our hover boards in his next bar, I just know it. The drinks have cute names and frou-frou prices. I had something called the UNIQLO...it was fine, but remember to hydrate after all that vocal shredding! This is a great venue for a group outing-drinking, singing, and magic. I imagine you could also bring a board game to one of the karaoke rooms and get your full nerd on. They also have drink serving robots that descend into the middle of the rooms. You can order at the bar, from a server, or online. I've never had much trouble finding great songs to play and sing here. The system seems to work quite well. They also have the bar area karaoke that is more of a free for all. This can be fun to watch, but it can be too crowded and hard to get your song in. Drinks are a bit pricey, about $10 a cocktail. As of yet, this isn't a place for food. read more

Tokyo Kitty is always a good time! However, this being my third visit, I noticed a few things: 1. The drinks are weak. It's insulting actually the lack of alcohol in what's supposed to be an alcoholic beverage. You're better off pregaming (responsibly). 2. The music selections are not diverse enough. For rap to be the most-listened to genre of today, the "New Songs" playlist could be more accurate. Also, if language is an issue, I'm sure edited versions, including radio edits, exist. 3. The front unisex bathroom lock is broken. A young man accidentally walked in while a young woman was in there, completely humiliating the both of them. 4. The servers were not very attentive. My wife and I visited Cincinnati for the first time for a little NYE getaway and stayed downtown, a few blocks from Tokyo Kitty. Our first night we just had to visit and see how karaoke is done here. This is a great little place -- there is an open area in the front with a bar, stage, DJ, and televisions for videos and lyrics. And there are private rooms that you can book (in advance on their website) and have drinks delivered to you via a robotic device that crawls along the ceiling and descends into one's room. We couldn't book a private room, as they were totally booked, so we just drank beer and sang loudly in the open area. Fun times with laid back staff and other patrons.
