I asked for medium, came more rare then anything. Chicken risotto was very good. Good flavor. Wine was a small pour but normal for this kind of restaurant I guess. Now have had two straight excellent meals here, over two different seasons. Whether it's the beet salad, the greens salad, the scallops small plate, the bison entree, the bone-in pork loin entree, the brownie dessert, or any number of other choices, we have yet to have a dud. Flavors are well developed, there's a variety of textures on every plate, and visual presentation is very well done. Prices for starters are ridiculous bargains. Entree prices are still good for the quality. The staff is gracious, friendly, and seem to enjoy being here. The small size of the place and the space between tables makes it perfect for conversations over dinner. Lively, but not too loud. Wish they had a few more wine choices by the glass, but that's the only nitpicky thing I can think of that's a down side. We'll be back... again and again and again. read more

Made a reservations for 8 arrived at 750 and were seated promptly. Very nice atmosphere with clean white linen everywhere on the tables and a nice gas fireplace on the wall by the bar. The server we had was great. She was quick, responsive, helpful, and even chatted with us foe a few minutes. Her knowledge of all the menus was excellent, any server that can hang in a beer conversation with me is a Good one. We ordered a carafe of the cheapest Riesling and it was still great. For our meal my girlfriend ordered the bone in pork loin and it was amazing. The dish came with suateed sweet potatoes and brusselsprouts which might have been the best vegetables I have ever eaten. I ordered two small plates. One was the pork belly with a very rich and delicious quail egg on top That really offset the salty pork perfectly. My second plate was two small scallops with whole green beans. Scallops Were moist and tender and very tasty. The bill came out to 65 bucks with both our meals at 23 a piece and our 15 dollar carafe of good wine. Very reasonable for the quality you receive. We will definitely be back read more

I was in Cincinnati last month for work and a colleague of mine recommended this wine bar for dinner. My co-workers and I made reservations without realizing it was restaurant week. The staff were extremely courteous and accommodating. We ordered off the 3-course restaurant week menu and were very happy with our choices. I don't consider myself a foodie, but I loved every last bite of each dish. And the portions were the perfect size for a 3-course dinner. We also went with the wine pairings offered with each course and again, not disappointed in the least. We were treated to a free dessert at the end since despite having a reservation we had to wait to be seated. Definitely a big fan of this place, and if I ever go back to the area I will be dining there again. read more

What an amazing restaurant. The menu was quite interesting and unique. We started with the crabcake appetizer which was on a delicious corn puree. I had the filet mignon which was medium, but on the medium rare side. Our waiter warned us that the steaks are usually on the rarer side. It was incredible and was served on a surprising parsnip puree. I could have eaten an entire dish of the parsnips! My husband had the scallops and loved them. We finished with a wonderful bread pudding. Yum! The wine choices are lovely and we enjoyed a great Cab Sav. Can't wait to come back to visit! read more

Absolutely amazing. I went to Bouquet twice within a matter of a month (once for work and once with my husband) and was blown away both times. The Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever tasted and the halibut was to die for. Hub had the pork chop and said it was his favorite chop ever. I must say that Bouquet has floated under my radar until the most recent Cincinnati magazine. My wife and I and our good friends ate here over the weekend. It was a really great first experience. Our waitress/bartender/ (Jessica) was the highlight. I can't say enough about someone who is able to articulate their menu well. Not only did she have specific recommendations but she knew the exact temperature the "55 minute" egg was souveed at. She made me 3 cocktails that were fantastic and that I am still thinking about 2 days later. As for the food. All was really good but I don't think anything was out of this world. We tried about 65% of the menu between us all and I will be going back for the other 35%. There was definitely a hint of Indian spices in most of the dishes but not overwhelming if your not a fan of those spices. All in all I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet gem. read more

Okay I'm not going to lie, I really think Bouquet is the best restaurant in the tristate area. The sheer value, artistry, and myriad of flavors one can experience in this little wine bar is unparalled. It doesn't have the snooty allure or air of sophisitication on an outward level that other upscale restaurants enjoy, and I think it's this particularly modest demeanor that makes it all the more appealing. The menu is full of items that combine American classics and southern staples with a new-age flair and paniche. Combining the familiar witih something a little bit strange and unique that somehow pushes the dish further and with this slight bending of tradition the dishes enjoy new life. The Sausage Bourbon Biscuit dish somehow molded a dish that can be found on McDonald's breakfast menu into an exquisite sandwich worthy of the gods. I've had crab at well over twenty different restaurants, and yet the crab cake at Bouquet contains just enough little touches and flourishes that it's flavor remains fresh on my mind months after eating there. I love the way the menu changes to utilize the freshest and often locally found ingredients for their dishes. The salmon that I had when I was there was cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside with a incredibly flavorful crust akin to that would be found on much fattier meats, and yet the inside was as medium as as you can possibly get. Dined here twice. The first time it rated four stars. The filet mignon was prepared perfectly and the service was excellent. The second time I would give only two stars. The pork was rare, almost raw and had to be sent back for more cooking. A gentleman at an adjoining table ordered scallops. They were obviously not fresh. My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner and I loved this place beginning to end. I love how small and cozy it is inside - only fits about 50 people including the bar area. We had reservations but were running behind and called in to move us 30 minutes later and it was not a problem. We had our pick of 3 tables when we arrived. I would say for a larger group a reservation is definitely needed on the weekend but if it's just 2 people, you shouldn't have an issue walking in. We started with the squash and goat cheese appetizer special. It was super tiny but tasty and beautiful. I love how they list on their menu wee they source their food from. A majority comes from local Kentucky farmers and the Findlay market. The salmon (New Zealand) and scallops (New England) were the only non local items. I went with the filet mignon special done medium rare with turnips, some other veggies, and celery root sauce. It was fantastic! I haven't had filet mignon in over 2 years (the last time I had it was at Lindeys in Columbus and it was way too salty and turned me off) but I was craving it and I knew this was the place to have it. Perhaps iron deficient? I was so happy it didn't come with the cliche mashed potatoes (I mean au gratin) and asparagus or broccoli. So boring. Boyfriend had the pork and said it was pretty good. Not the best but good. It was massive - like the size of his face. Against my boyfriends wishes I ordered dessert (he planned to take me to Abigail st for dessert) because it was likely all the wine talking. I had their pumpkin Ice cream thing special and it was just okay. Actually kind of bland. Service was fantastic. Bathroom is awkwardly placed right between tables. First off, FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm really suspicious about "farm to table" places like this. Why? Umm because I grew up on a farm which is still in my family and has been for over two decades. SO I'M PUTTING THIS PLACE UNDER THAT EXTRA SCRUTINY. Our personal family garden(s) total about one acre. We also raise that prized over hyped "grass-fed" organic beef; which BTW is good, but I'm not going to rant about it here. Also, the definition of "fresh" is statutory and varies from state to state. So consumers know your laws. Of all the places to choose from, I chose this cute little place to take my gf out to eat for her b-day. We are both out-of-towers. She loved it, but didn't pay the bill. Between drinks, an appetizer, two entrees, a desert, coffee, tip, etc, I dropped pretty close to a bill and a half. I'm glad she liked it because it was her special day. I really liked the inside of the restaurant and its small cozy feeling. We got the special quash and goat cheese appetizer, and I thought it was the best thing all night. It was fantastic and unexpectedly fresh tasting and flavorful. It was as good as any fresh veggie you could get at any restaurant. She got the filet mignon (which was Market Price and very $$$$). I didn't try it. I knew that it would not bedazzle me because I am/was a farmer and hunter. I am spoiled in the way that I can eat fresh fillet from all sorts of fresh farm or game animals (sometimes no more than 2 days old) for little cost, so I generally don't get it out. Plus, there is no possible way it would be as fresh as I eat it. They offered some salmon dish as special, and I knew that it would also not bedazzle me because I lived in Alaska for years and would go out and catch salmon that I would eat that night. The other options were very limited, which I didn't really like, but I'd rather they have a limited menu which is fantastic than a large menu that's average. So I guess that's okay. So, I went with the pork chop. It was one of the most inexpensive items on the list, and it was average (7.5 to 8 out of 10). I also sampled the seasonal pumpkin desert which she ordered. It was not that good and very pricey. The appetizer and my gfs pleasant experience push me to rank this place as a 4. read more

This was our first time to dine at Bouquet and boy we were not disappointed. It's a really nice place for a dinner date. Our waiter was very helpful and gave great recommendations. The food was so gooood! Pork belly appetizer - wow! My wife and myself loved how the fat just melted in our mouth. I'm pretty sure our arteries were loving it! Pork chop - OMG. It was juicy and it was oozing with great flavors from within the 1.5 inch piece of pork. I couldn't get over how much flavors would ooze while I was chewing. My wife's catfish likewise was awesome. My wife loved how the contrasting flavors complemented each other. The desserts were just okay. We enjoyed them but didn't wow us like our entrees. My wife had creme brulee. She liked the creme brulee but was overwhelmed by the garlic candy on top. I had the chocolate ganoush with pawpaw and oatmeal cookies which was just okay. WOW, this place impressed me! We went with my parents here to celebrate my mom's birthday and it did not disappoint. Everything from the food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. We started with the Sweet Potato Flatbread, so deliious. We all got something different and I tried a little from everyone's plate and it was all really good. We were there on a Thursday which apparently is burger night. I ordered the burger and I have never had a burger with so much flavor, it was like a giant yummy meat ball. My husband got the Kentucky Ribeye and he said it was better than any Jeff Ruby steak he's ever had. My parents got the Salmon and the Sablefish and both were delicious as well. We share a bottle of red wine which was selected by our amazing server Sybilka. She was great too, super friendly and professional. I can't wait to go back when it is warmer to check out the roof top. Also a big plus was that all their ingredients were fresh and they used local farmers, a big plus in my book. read more

We went to Bouquet to celebrate my husband's birthday over the weekend. It was a good experience overall minus a few minor annoyances. The service was slow. We weren't in a rush at all but our meal start to finish took over 2 hours for just the two of us. Though we were seated promptly, given menus immediately and even put in our wine order quickly. 20 minutes later and we were wondering where our bottle of wine was. Their wine selection is pretty good either by the glass or by the bottle. There are some interesting choices with a range of prices which is always appealing to me. We were pleased with the wine. We started with the rabbit ravioli and though the edges of the ravioli were under cooked and tough, the flavor of the dish was so delicious, that almost made up for the technical flaw. Had it been cooked properly, it would have been the perfect dish. My husband opted for the lamb entrée. He liked it though the pieces of lamb he had were really fatty. He had to pick through a lot of the meat to try and find edible pieces. I had the pork chop with a lentil/brussel sprout side dish that was really tasty. The pork chop was large, cooked perfectly and the lentils were really flavorful. We had a trio of chocolate for dessert that was a nice way to end the meal. The experience was nice and a good way to spend a birthday, though I did specify when I made the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and the restaurant didn't even extend a "happy birthday" which is always a pet peeve of mine. Hubby and I had a wonderful meal here last night. Started with gespacho. It was everything it should be - tastes of fresh tomato, cucumber and spices - cool and refreshing with an addition of cornbread crumbles that was wonderful. Next was squash blossoms with amaranth on a bed of grilled corn and beans at the recommendation of our server - delicious, flavorful and a surprising. Next a green salad - lightly dressed, just how I like it. For our main course hubby had the pork and I had the halibut. Hubby's pork was juicy and generous. My halibut was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. The halibut was on a bed of edamame with a ginger miso sauce that was amazing! We finished by sharing the chocolate strawberry dessert that was the perfect topper to our meal. Our server was friendly, attentive and gave great suggestions. Our new favorite in the Cincy/nky area! This was my fourth visit. I'm not sure why it took so long to review this gem of a restaurant. Upon entering the heavy doors, you'll immediately notice the cozy, romantic feel. In warmer weather, there are a few bistro tables outside. While not casual, the interior is welcoming. In the times I've been, the service has ranged from average to fantastic, and food/drinks have always been delivered promptly. (Side note: the location of the downstairs bathroom is weird and uncomfortably close to the dining room, especially what we call the 'bathroom table', which is literally right outside of the door. Who wants to sit there?) Moving on...the food. That's why you came right? Every single bite I've ordered or tasted in four trips has been absolutely delicious. From the charcuterie boards (the cheeses and pickled items are the best I've had in the area) to the burger, to the steak, the bison pot pie. All divine. The chef has an obvious devotion to fresh, high quality ingredients. The flavor combinations are second to none. The prices are absolutely in line with the quality of the food. My goodness...what a delicious night at Bouquet. I've been here on business this week and this meal made a success of my otherwise dull trip. I went out for a late dinner with a co-worker and sat at the bar. We each ordered a cup of curry mushroom soup, followed by a shared plate of seared sea scallops with butternut squash, green beans, and a celery root & dill puree and another shared plate of a bone-in porkchop with lentils, brussels sprouts, and a maple glaze. Everything was SO delicious, albeit slightly salty for both of our tastes (hence the four stars rather than 5). We also had dessert- a chocolate plate with two truffles, some kind of liquid chocolate, and a dark chocolate pot de creme, bruleed with candied orange zest (the pot de creme was THE best part... to die for). Our other shared dessert was a deconstructed jar pie of the pumpkin variety...also delectable. Service was quick and friendly. All and all, a lovely experience! read more

This is my new favorite Cincinnati restaurant. I was very excited about finally trying Bouquet so there was a lot to live up to. It ended up being better than I expected. Our first course was the charcuterie board which featured mortadella and finocchiona along with a nice assortment of cheeses. I didn't want the course to end. I ordered the pork chop based on the recommendation of our excellent server and had no regrets. My wife ordered the crab cake and asparagus salad as her entree and enjoyed it all. She also had the potato soup which looked nice but I am not a soup guy so I didn't try any. The desert was some kind of bread pudding with homemade ice cream. I have never had bread pudding like this before. It had a somewhat crispy outer layer which contrasted nicely with the warm interior and ice cream. It's nice to be excited about trying a new restaurant and its even better when it far exceeds your expectations. We are going back again this Friday. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Bouquet for dinner on New Year's Eve and we started a new tradition that night. After using OpenTable to make reservations, we had a table waiting for us within minutes of arriving. The atmosphere was amazing. It felt very similar to the small, intimate, niche restaurants I favor in Manhattan. Our server (his name escapes me) was PHENOMENAL. Knew the wine list and the menu better than any server I've had. His wine recommendation was the first wine I've ever seen my girlfriend not just enjoy, but rave about. But the real key to the magic of Bouquet was the steak. The bistro steak was the single best price of beef I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Perfectly medium rare, bursting with flavor and a subtle richness that flirted with sublime. Please, please go to Bouquet. This is now my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati and I CANNOT a wait to return for round two. read more

One visit does not qualify as a good sampling of a restaurant's quality, but maybe it does. I will start off by stating that the service was well above average and about right for a restaurant with an upscale casual flair. Our waiter knew the dishes well and offered cogent descriptions and recommendations based on our questions. The halibut was fine but the pork chop was not as succulent as I had hoped it would be but dry and very thick. I love pork chops but was not inspired by this one. I could not finish it. The house "carriage salad" was good but not five star. The appetizer of warmed mixed olives was a nice way to start. With one bar drink and three glasses of wine, our bill with tip came to $100. Our experience this first visit would not place Bouquet in the top 10 but it really needs a second try. It is a popular place. The tables are small so be prepared for an intimate evening. read more
