First of all I have been a member for years. This is not a review of the wine but rather a review of the lack of customer service. I phoned Bottaia because I needed to know when I had to pick up my shipment before they shipped it to me. I left a very detailed message asking the question on Wednesday, today is Saturday and still no response. Why have the ability to leave a message if nobody is calling back. I doubt I will continue my membership beyond the upcoming shipment.There are so many wineries in the area, that offer great customer service along with good wine to feed my money to a place that doesn't care about me. Came down to Bottaia to switch it up from my usual (and still loved) Ponte trip. Turns out it's under the same management, and it shows in the quality of service and ambiance! You are greeted upon arrival by the expansive views of the vineyard through the floor to ceiling windows. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a flight of their Italian varietals, which is their sole focus. They had some unique options I was not familiar with and we enjoyed trying something new. My girlfriend and fellow Yelper Cara C. and I showed up to close the pool down for the year. This unique vineyard and winery has a pool as part of its wine country offerings. It was a gorgeous 80 degree day in SoCal wine country. I grabbed my Red, Red Wine one piece. We rented a cabine to charge our phones and to have a private space to shower and change. With a full or half day reservation you're offered a complimentary sangria (White or Red) at check in. We shared a flatbread and froze's poolside while dipping our toes in the water. This place wins on ambience, privacy and service alone. We had this magnificent space to ourselves on a gorgeous November day. The pool comes with a private lifeguard. Went on TikTok and Instagram to research wineries I wanted to check out in Temecula and Bottaia kept popping up as, "the winery with a pool." Also, social media posts kept saying, "You have to have a reservation in order to go here..." which made it sound super exclusive and hard to get into. Found out my sister's friends were members here and while we were at another winery they called to see if they could make a reservation, same day, and it sounded like they got lucky and were able to get one in the barrel room. My sister's friend described this place as if Magnolia Farms had a winery, this would be it. When we arrived we did a little walk through of the place and immediately, a pretty blonde lady with I think an Irish accent saw us perusing outside and politely asked if we were members or guests. At first I thought, "Uh oh, we're in trouble," but then she gave us the spiel about the place, the pool (it opens in May), the vineyards from Italy, etc. I think we got the friendlier spiel because our friend let her know he was a member but it feels like you're not welcome to just do a self tour of the place. That being said, yes, you can visit this place if you're a non-member, but you do need a reservation, and the area for the non-members looks like the peasants area compared to the rest of the seating areas for members. Our reservation for the barrel room was up and when we went inside it felt like part lab class room/part wine tasting. We were seated at a small round table with metal stools that reminded me of my college lab class. The room is filled with barrels on three walls then the fourth wall is pretty much glass with the glass door that is the entrance so it feels like 5th period wine class. Most wine places you have to stand at a counter and there's lots of other parties there and one person is serving multiple parties so it can be chaotic. Here it's quiet, air conditioned, there's a limit on how many people can be in there and you can actually concentrate on the wine tasting experience. I loved that the wine tasting cards had a map of italy and a little symbol in the region of where each wine came from. I learned Bottaia is a certified Pecorino dealer, they grow their own grapes and all of their vines came from Italy. The wines here are 10 out of 10 would recommend. The last pour comes from a barrel which is another unique feature of their wine tasting experience that I haven't found anywhere else. The straight out of the barrel pour is really good/strong and you could see the legs running all up and down the glass (fancy wine talk). They give you these breadstick crackers with the tasting but it's not enough. I needed at least three packs to balance out all the alcohol. Our reservation was at 4:45 p.m. and we were done with the tasting and out of there around 6:30 p.m. This winery offers a different outdoor view from other wineries, but if you're inside all day you won't get to enjoy it. Definitely worth visiting, but I'd recommend going with someone who is already a member. read more

I visited on Valentine's Day weekend and had a terrible experience. We had a reservation, but when we got sat , we still waiting 20 minutes to be served. A blonde manager was at the front and she was so fake and odd. She mad us feel uncomfortable right away. We could see how busy the staff was . They had way too many tables . We asked to talk to manager and met Riannan. She was unprofessional and so incredibly awkward, I was surprised she was the actual manager. So we have been coming to the pool at this winery for many years but stopped going because of the staff and leadership. We decided to go again today and they have done a complete 360. Donovan the Manager is one of the best Managers they have ever had there. He takes good care of the customers and treats them like family. Our waiter was Hunter S just ask for him when u go there when I say a waiter or waitress is on top of things, Hunter takes into another level. He takes excellent care of his customers, great vibe, great personality. He is probably one of the best we have ever had. This is the most beautiful winery that I've been to in Temecula. The view from the outside deck is absolutely stunning. Wines & Food: I'm not a sommelier by any means, but I enjoyed the wine tasting menu here. Our group agreed that the Montepulciano was a real winner. As a note, this winery only serves snacks to accompany wine, no real meals. The hummus plate that we shared among 4 was tasty, but not a full meal. Seating: My boyfriend was able to call on the day of our visit to get a reservation outside. I had previously tried to get a reservation online, but there were no openings. So I suggest calling if you're unable to get a reservation online. Ambiance & Service: The outdoor patio is well spaced and has misters and coverings to protect guests from the sun and heat. I visited this winery last weekend and it is one of my favorites in Temecula. We had a reservation for the deck but upon arrival we were informed it was closed for emergency repair. This was disappointing as we were looking forward to the view but the rest of the experience made up for it. Our server was Alayna, she was so friendly and knowledgeable. We walked in a few weeks ago on a Saturday and was surprised we were able to get a table! Normally they require reservations but they were able to seat us. Lucky us! The views here when the sun is setting is beautiful. We were seated at the deck area and we had a great view of their vineyards and the mountains behind it. I could sit here for hours! We ordered two glasses of wine and a trio of chocolate mousses. My fiance ordered a red wine which was good but I definitely enjoyed my rose better. The rose isn't too sweet but it was sparkling which was nice! The chocolate mousse trio were really decadent as well. Overall, we would definitely be back again to try out their blending lab which sounded really cool and maybe try out the pool when in season! read more

First off, please know the my objection is not that this place is not dog friendly. I understand there are limitations and I have the utmost respect for this boundaries. However, you should really make that more clear - you're listed as a "dog friendly" location, not just service animals. It would have been really nice if you let me notify the people I was with that I was getting kicked out of the place before you escorted me out. I didn't make a fuss and I understood this was not a dog for fly place, I have no issue with giving my $$ to other places. We have a dog in a wheelchair, so we purposely planned out our trip accordingly so he could come along. This was not a great start, but fortunately there were so many other better options for us. If you don't want people coming in with dogs, I would advise that you add "service animals only" - you don't even have those signs posted on your buildings. read more

Came here with some apprehension with all the negative reviews but was surprised with how pleasant the experience was. Although I am not a member, this reservation was made a month prior by a family member. Everyone was kind and welcoming the moment we stepped in the main lobby. They simply asked for our reservation and gave us a little run down to how the place works. We then got seated for our wine tasting and tried several whites and reds - we finished it off with wine from the barrel. The whites were mostly dry and followed the tasting notes. The Blush had plenty of watermelon and perfume. I enjoyed the Vermentino 2017, Barbera 2017 (we also drank the 2019 barrel), and the Montepulciano 2017. In my honest opinion, although I enjoyed the wines and ended up buying a bottle of Dolcetto to drink in the future, I found all we're not really medium bodied but mostly on the lighter side. I just found the bottle pricing, even at 30% off, a little steep, but I guess decanting might make it taste better. Definitely worth the experience if you enjoy wine. read more

Extremely disappointed. Beautiful building, grounds and view. The wine server was by herself and it was crazy busy in the "non member" area. It took almost 2 1/2 hours for our tasting. The wine was ok. I enjoys 3 of the selections and wine is of course a matter of personal taste. I was shocked they couldn't have helped the server out by moving people around! I laughed when she asked if we wanted to by members. One of the worse managed businesses I have been in ever. With nice wine and a great venue this place will never make the income that it should. They give you 7 x 1 oz pours and as you are tasting the wine they have a map of the region of where the grapes for that particular wine comes from. Visited Bottaia winery yesterday for a fun few hours out in the beautiful weather and to enjoy trying some new wines. The winery is beautiful, spotlessly clean and inviting. We were seated out on the deck next to the railing with stunning views of the vineyard. Nicholas came right out with menus and the wine list. He explained the wines, gave us a few minutes to decide and came back to take our order. We each ordered the caprese salad, and I did a tasting of two of their white wines, two of the reds and a late harvest wine. The Caprese salad was delicious, so fresh and vibrant. The wines we found to be delicious, full of flavor, crisp and clean. Tried the Pinot Grigio which is perfect for a warm summer day, fruit forward and crisp. The Fiano was a bit dryer, but just as delicious. The Dolcetto was very nice with hints of strawberry, bing cherry and nutmeg. My favorite was the Montepulciano, it was rich in color with flavors of boysenberry, black cherry and a hint of cola. The late harvest is even deeper in color, sweet with notes of fig and tobacco. Perfect to pair with dessert. The deck is lovely, a truly relaxing spot to sit and enjoy a glass or tasting. There is plenty of parking. I recommend having a reservation. Tastings are $30 per person, and are not discounted if you buy a bottle or two of wine. read more

Bottaia winery was one of my favorite wineries when visiting Temecula! This is a newer winery and The facilities are beautiful modern with a touch of farm rustic. My husband and I scheduled a wine pairing but first we got a tour, we saw their barrel room, the wine lab where you can create your own bottle of wine (so cool), their beautiful outdoor patio space, and they have a pool!!! You can either rent a room that comes with a shower or chairs for the day. The pool area is offers full service (food & beverage). My favorite part of our experience was the seared wine pairing and charcuterie board. There are four different charcuterie boards you can choose from and they did a comedy my dietary restrictions (I don't eat meat). Bottaia is absolutely gorgeous and was my favorite stop during our wine tasting day. Yes, it's pricey but you get what you pay for. You enter into a gorgeous sitting room with vaulted ceilings. Everything is highly organized and professional. You check in for your reservation (you need one) and will be brought to your table. Luckily since we can't sit inside right now, the outside is just as gorgeous. The tasting room is open-air with the most gorgeous view of the vines. They even have a separate area with a pool which you can also make a reservation for and I fully intend to do when it gets warm again. Bottaia is owned by Ponte Winery just down the street. Their website states that complimentary Italian bar snacks are provided but we weren't offered any. They do have a small menu with charcuterie plates and desserts but we didn't partake. What we did partake in was the wine, and I loved them all. I have to say that the 2017 Vermentino was my favorite, light and crisp, and I ended up taking a bottle home. I thought the whole experience here was fantastic and if you're looking for an upscale venue for wine tasting this is the place to be. read more

I want to give 5 stars, but there is one element here that for me makes it a 4 star rating. Having said that it may be why someone else gives it a 5. My reason for the 4 stars is because they don't allow anyone under 18 which I didn't know when we signed up for the wine club. This winery is beautiful but don't let that fool you. It is horribly overpriced and the quality is not there. We tried several of the wines, the charcuterie board and all of the desserts. It was all disappointing. I was there with a group of 12 and none of us liked it. When the charcuterie board came out they told me that there were four cheeses on the board and I was like where? I wish I would've taken a photo of it. It was $34 and there were four tiny little pieces of cheese. The cheese was also generic grocery store variety. Like I can buy better precut cheese at Trader Joe's. The rest of the board was basically olives, almonds, some kind of weird caper berries, a couple slices of cured meat and a couple crackers and pieces of bread. And I can't even with those cannolis. The cannolis were $15 apiece, you got three tiny little ones that were obviously frozen and recently defrosted. The cannoli shell was totally soggy and the filling was only bland and sugary. WTF?! It's a bummer because the grounds really are incredible and the service was excellent. I wanted to like it more. They also act like you have to be a member to get some great exclusive experience but there was barely anyone there on a Thursday in high season. We had a couple friends that were over by the pool and we just wanted to go sit down and have a drink with them, none of us had bathing suits with us but they wouldn't allow us to unless we paid $35 apiece. That would've been understandable if the pool area had been busy but there were like maybe 10 people in that huge area. It was a ghost town. Another thing that was crap was that when I made the reservation for the party of 12 they did tell us that they don't seat parties larger than eight so they split the tables into two. There was barely anyone else on the tasting deck and they told us we weren't allowed to move any of the furniture around. Then when the check came they also said they didn't allow separate checks but nobody told us that from the get-go. We went to Europa winery earlier in the day and didn't have any of these issues. I hope they get their program together because it would be a shame to see such a beautiful property not succeed but they are not going to be able to survive charging those prices and giving that kind of experience in the long run. read more
