This was the most expensive wine tasting I did during my weekend in Temecula and also the least enjoyable. I had a feeling there was going to be a pretentious vibe here because they are very forward on their website about their members only amenities, but I was shocked that they put non members in a closed off, freezing room away from the main entrance. It felt like we were being punished for being a first time visitor. There was only one wine that I enjoyed during our 4-5 tasting experience. It was the last tasting of the younger wine from the barrel that smelled like a blueberry muffin. It may have been the first wine of the tasting that left a bad taste in my mouth. It was very unpleasant and nearly all the wines that followed just were not enjoyable. This winery was not for me and I will save my money and go somewhere else next time I'm visiting Temecula. read more

Beautiful place from the sign-in area, the general lobby/waiting area, barrel wine-tasting room, the more upscale wine-tasting room with food pairings looks classy, to the outdoor deck in the vineyard area. I like that everything looked modern and clean, including the bathrooms. I really enjoyed the way that they hosted the barrel room wine-tasting experience. Each person receives a list of the wines that they're about to taste (7 total for $34), and there's a mini map of Italy under each wine which shows which region of the country that the wine originated from, and there's lined spaced under each wine for us to jot down our notes about the wines. Stopped by Temecula in the afternoon for a couple of wine tastings, and decided to try out this winery. The decor here is modern and beautiful. All the staff that we encountered here were very friendly. We didn't have any reservations (which seem to be recommended for certain tastings), but we were able to grab seats in the barrel room. A few of the wines were quite unique and stood out to me. I was tempted to buy a bottle, but decided not to (although now I wish I had!) since I expect I'll be back in Temecula again. I didn't have the time to enjoy the outdoor area, but did walk by to check it out. It seems like a great place to spend an entire afternoon. They have served us many times, all of which have been superior. They feel like family and I always want to give them a hug lol. The fun and enjoyment of learning about the different wines is no longer there. The regular tasting for the non- members was out on the patio overlooking the stunning vineyard on uncomfortable patio furniture. While the members had the comfortable relaxing outside seating. Unlike other wine club memberships there are not free tasting, it's 50% . 1. The wines tasted horrible. We each took one sip of each. We had two whites and two reds. 2. Bottaia has been on my list of wineries I wanted to try for the last year, but it just hadn't worked out. I finally got to go, and was really looking forward to checking it out. The pool is closed for the season, which makes sense. I made a reservation for the deck, which is an area where those who are not members can sit. They suggest that everyone wanting to come makes a reservation. Walking up, everything looked really cute. There is a check in desk, and that's where they checked my reservation. We waited a few minutes after checking in and were seated. There's no option on the deck to walk up to a tasting bar or anything like that. It's all table service. Our server came quickly to greet us, but we needed a few minutes to look over the menu, as none of our party had been there before. The menu is descriptive, and you can order a flight of four 2 ounce pours for $32 or by wine by the glass/bottle. They also have snacks and desserts available. We each decided to get the flights, so we could try more options. After placing our order, along with the hummus plate, we waited probably 10 minutes to get the flights and then another 10 minutes for the hummus. Our server saw the hummus come out, and said he would bring plates, but he never did. It appeared he forgot, so after waiting awhile we decided to eat it - no napkins or anything either. He did come by after we were about halfway done, but never did bring plates or napkins. As far as the wines, I would say they were ok. I do really enjoy Italian varietals, but there are a couple other spots in the area that I think do a better job. Bottaia had higher prices as well. The 2017 Aglianico was my favorite though (my other choices were the Pinot Grigio, Cartuccia Red, and Montepulciano). I felt like the service was just ok as well. He was nice, but maybe he had too many tables? I think if I return, I will try the barrel room tasting. I appreciate a little more personalized service, and when someone is there to talk to you about the wines. I really wanted to like it. It's a beautiful view and nice spaces. My friends and I booked a barrel wine tasting online on the day of and went there last Friday. It was so hot, so it was good that we did not book anything else beside the indoor wine tasting! Maybe next time I will try the pool or cabana ones.. But I read from several other Yelpers saying that if you're not a member, you won't get the same great experience.. I'm not much of a wine drinker so I probably won't be any wine club member, but this barrel wine tasting was good for me! I liked that it was not crowded at all and each reservation is spaced out so you are with a few tables/parties only. Staff was rude. This winery has a patio wine tasting experience and then also a pool area that has a cafe. I came here with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. While half my group were purchasing wine tastings on the patio area me and the rest of my group decided to go by food from the pool cafe and then bring it back over to the patio area to join the rest of our group since the menu over by the patio area did not have many selections. While ordering food from the pool cafe I asked an employee a few times if it would be okay if I bring the food we were purchasing over to the patio area once our food was made. He said that he would not see why that would be a problem. He said if anyone gave us trouble to mention his name. Me and my friend brought the food over from the pool cafe to the patio area and rejoined the rest of our group. As soon as me and my friend were about to begin eating our food, a lady rushed over to us in front of everyone saying we were not allowed to eat our food in this area and we would have to go back to the pool area if we wished to eat our food. Before I could even finish my sentence and tell her that an employee told us it would be fine, she rudely cut me off and told me I was told wrong. My friends who ordered wine and small tastings from the patio area were not allowed to bring their wine and small tastings over to the pool area to join us either meaning that all the food we had just ordered was cold by the time we had gotten to eat it. The women also watched and stared at us our entire time here to the point where we just went to a completely different winery due to the experience being so uncomfortable. There was no visible signs that mentioned not being able to bring food over from one area to another, no other winery I have seen has done this either. Came down to Bottaia to switch it up from my usual (and still loved) Ponte trip. Turns out it's under the same management, and it shows in the quality of service and ambiance! You are greeted upon arrival by the expansive views of the vineyard through the floor to ceiling windows. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a flight of their Italian varietals, which is their sole focus. They had some unique options I was not familiar with and we enjoyed trying something new. With a full or half day reservation you're offered a complimentary sangria (White or Red) at check in. We shared a flatbread and froze's poolside while dipping our toes in the water. This is the most beautiful winery that I've been to in Temecula. The view from the outside deck is absolutely stunning. Wines & Food: I'm not a sommelier by any means, but I enjoyed the wine tasting menu here. Our group agreed that the Montepulciano was a real winner. As a note, this winery only serves snacks to accompany wine, no real meals. The hummus plate that we shared among 4 was tasty, but not a full meal. Seating: My boyfriend was able to call on the day of our visit to get a reservation outside. I had previously tried to get a reservation online, but there were no openings. So I suggest calling if you're unable to get a reservation online. Ambiance & Service: The outdoor patio is well spaced and has misters and coverings to protect guests from the sun and heat. Went on TikTok and Instagram to research wineries I wanted to check out in Temecula and Bottaia kept popping up as, "the winery with a pool." Also, social media posts kept saying, "You have to have a reservation in order to go here..." which made it sound super exclusive and hard to get into. Found out my sister's friends were members here and while we were at another winery they called to see if they could make a reservation, same day, and it sounded like they got lucky and were able to get one in the barrel room. My sister's friend described this place as if Magnolia Farms had a winery, this would be it. When we arrived we did a little walk through of the place and immediately, a pretty blonde lady with I think an Irish accent saw us perusing outside and politely asked if we were members or guests. At first I thought, "Uh oh, we're in trouble," but then she gave us the spiel about the place, the pool (it opens in May), the vineyards from Italy, etc. I think we got the friendlier spiel because our friend let her know he was a member but it feels like you're not welcome to just do a self tour of the place. That being said, yes, you can visit this place if you're a non-member, but you do need a reservation, and the area for the non-members looks like the peasants area compared to the rest of the seating areas for members. Our reservation for the barrel room was up and when we went inside it felt like part lab class room/part wine tasting. We were seated at a small round table with metal stools that reminded me of my college lab class. The room is filled with barrels on three walls then the fourth wall is pretty much glass with the glass door that is the entrance so it feels like 5th period wine class. Most wine places you have to stand at a counter and there's lots of other parties there and one person is serving multiple parties so it can be chaotic. Here it's quiet, air conditioned, there's a limit on how many people can be in there and you can actually concentrate on the wine tasting experience. I loved that the wine tasting cards had a map of italy and a little symbol in the region of where each wine came from. I learned Bottaia is a certified Pecorino dealer, they grow their own grapes and all of their vines came from Italy. The wines here are 10 out of 10 would recommend. The last pour comes from a barrel which is another unique feature of their wine tasting experience that I haven't found anywhere else. The straight out of the barrel pour is really good/strong and you could see the legs running all up and down the glass (fancy wine talk). They give you these breadstick crackers with the tasting but it's not enough. I needed at least three packs to balance out all the alcohol. Our reservation was at 4:45 p.m. and we were done with the tasting and out of there around 6:30 p.m. This winery offers a different outdoor view from other wineries, but if you're inside all day you won't get to enjoy it. Definitely worth visiting, but I'd recommend going with someone who is already a member. read more

I doubt I will continue my membership beyond the upcoming shipment.There are so many wineries in the area, that offer great customer service along with good wine to feed my money to a place that doesn't care about me. Came here with some apprehension with all the negative reviews but was surprised with how pleasant the experience was. Although I am not a member, this reservation was made a month prior by a family member. Everyone was kind and welcoming the moment we stepped in the main lobby. They simply asked for our reservation and gave us a little run down to how the place works. We then got seated for our wine tasting and tried several whites and reds - we finished it off with wine from the barrel. The whites were mostly dry and followed the tasting notes. The Blush had plenty of watermelon and perfume. I enjoyed the Vermentino 2017, Barbera 2017 (we also drank the 2019 barrel), and the Montepulciano 2017. In my honest opinion, although I enjoyed the wines and ended up buying a bottle of Dolcetto to drink in the future, I found all we're not really medium bodied but mostly on the lighter side. I just found the bottle pricing, even at 30% off, a little steep, but I guess decanting might make it taste better. Definitely worth the experience if you enjoy wine. read more

Visited Bottaia winery yesterday for a fun few hours out in the beautiful weather and to enjoy trying some new wines. The winery is beautiful, spotlessly clean and inviting. We were seated out on the deck next to the railing with stunning views of the vineyard. Nicholas came right out with menus and the wine list. He explained the wines, gave us a few minutes to decide and came back to take our order. We each ordered the caprese salad, and I did a tasting of two of their white wines, two of the reds and a late harvest wine. The Caprese salad was delicious, so fresh and vibrant. The wines we found to be delicious, full of flavor, crisp and clean. Tried the Pinot Grigio which is perfect for a warm summer day, fruit forward and crisp. The Fiano was a bit dryer, but just as delicious. The Dolcetto was very nice with hints of strawberry, bing cherry and nutmeg. My favorite was the Montepulciano, it was rich in color with flavors of boysenberry, black cherry and a hint of cola. The late harvest is even deeper in color, sweet with notes of fig and tobacco. Perfect to pair with dessert. The deck is lovely, a truly relaxing spot to sit and enjoy a glass or tasting. There is plenty of parking. I recommend having a reservation. Tastings are $30 per person, and are not discounted if you buy a bottle or two of wine. read more

Bottaia winery was one of my favorite wineries when visiting Temecula! This is a newer winery and The facilities are beautiful modern with a touch of farm rustic. You can either rent a room that comes with a shower or chairs for the day. The pool area is offers full service (food & beverage). My favorite part of our experience was the seared wine pairing and charcuterie board. There are four different charcuterie boards you can choose from and they did a comedy my dietary restrictions (I don't eat meat). We walked in a few weeks ago on a Saturday and was surprised we were able to get a table! Normally they require reservations but they were able to seat us. Lucky us! The views here when the sun is setting is beautiful. We were seated at the deck area and we had a great view of their vineyards and the mountains behind it. I could sit here for hours! We ordered two glasses of wine and a trio of chocolate mousses. My fiance ordered a red wine which was good but I definitely enjoyed my rose better. The rose isn't too sweet but it was sparkling which was nice! The chocolate mousse trio were really decadent as well. Overall, we would definitely be back again to try out their blending lab which sounded really cool and maybe try out the pool when in season! read more

I would love to give this winery 5 stars as it is one of the prettier wineries in Temecula. They have a fabulous patio which they have made now into their member terrace. Because it is only now designated to their members, one of 8 of my friends visiting me here in Temecula joined the member terrace so that we can all enjoy the nicer more luxurious atmosphere. There were 9 altogether and although they had the space, they could not bring over one chair so that all 9 of us could sit together. It was not busy and the seating area/table for 8 could have easily supported one more without any problem what so ever but management could not make an executive decision to allow not even one more chair. These women bought at least 10 bottles to take home and Bottaia should have recognized the chances and potential for selling even more wine & memberships were extremely high had they made the slight accommodation of adding one more chair and leaving this group of ladies with a great impression of this winery I so wanted to give 5 stars to! Bottaia is absolutely gorgeous and was my favorite stop during our wine tasting day. Yes, it's pricey but you get what you pay for. You enter into a gorgeous sitting room with vaulted ceilings. Everything is highly organized and professional. You check in for your reservation (you need one) and will be brought to your table. Luckily since we can't sit inside right now, the outside is just as gorgeous. The tasting room is open-air with the most gorgeous view of the vines. They even have a separate area with a pool which you can also make a reservation for and I fully intend to do when it gets warm again. Bottaia is owned by Ponte Winery just down the street. Their website states that complimentary Italian bar snacks are provided but we weren't offered any. They do have a small menu with charcuterie plates and desserts but we didn't partake. What we did partake in was the wine, and I loved them all. I have to say that the 2017 Vermentino was my favorite, light and crisp, and I ended up taking a bottle home. I thought the whole experience here was fantastic and if you're looking for an upscale venue for wine tasting this is the place to be. read more
