Nice building, garage, and amenities. I even found the people polite and to the point. However, the service on repairs is absolutely horrible. I dropped off my bike for yearly routine service; oil and filter change, tune up, state inspection. They even charged me $110 for a "multi-point/safety" inspection. Fine, no problem, it means my life if a good mechanic can look over the bike and make sure everything is up to par before I take it back out on the road. I'll say that's worth $110,,,, if indeed it is done!!!
I scheduled an appointment for that day, dropped it off, 5 hours later, they still haven't looked at the bike. I came back 1 1/2 hours later and it is ready to go. I pay my bill to include the $110 "multi-point" inspection. I am psyched, my bike is all set to ride for the season! I ride it back one mile to my office around the corner and decide to work for another 4 hours in the evening and get some paperwork done.
I leave my office at 10 pm at night, tired and just want to get home to eat and go to bed. I jump on the bike, get on the highway, and BAM the bike dies as I am in traffic going 50-miles an hour!
I am riding along and the bike is back-firing and then my odometer is going haywire. I couldn't get it past 3rd gear. Luckily, I was able to coast off to the first exit and safely find a dark parking lot to pull into.
I was able to figure what was wrong by the back firing and odometer. Not enough back pressure and a short in the electrical circuitry. I was dead tired and only equipped with a leatherman multi-tool and an iPhone camera light.
I found the problem, one of the spark plug cables was not even snapped into the spark plug! A good thing I paid for that tune up! I was able to wiggle my bare hands around a hot engine to reconnect the cable. The burns were minor to my hands.
Then, using my little tool, I was able to disconnect the seat, go through all the fuses, only to discover that the negative wire cable to the battery was disconnected from the battery.
Once again, I was able to maneuver my fingers and tighten the cable to the battery. After about a half hour of doing this and putting everything back together, I was able to get home and go to bed.
I went in to Harley Davidson Boston the next day and spoke with the Assistant Service Supervisor Mike and Customer Rep Big Bob. I explained what happened.
How do you charge people $110 for a multipoint inspection and then let a bike go out the door with unconnected cables?! I could have gotten killed on the highway when the bike just died like that! Was the bike even looked at at all?! What did I pay $110 for? What about the tune-up that I paid another $100 for?! The cables weren't even properly connected?!
Bottom line, forget the money and cost, how does a mechanic let a bike go out the door like that. It could have gotten someone killed!!
They didn't offer me any refund or anything, and just said, "Sorry." I really don't want anything, except for other bikers to be cautious about pulling your bike from that garage. Check everything before you ride, BECAUSE THEY DON'T!
You can bet, I will never do any business ever, with that dealership. I LIKE RIDING and BEING ALIVE! read more
