Buyer Beware, Liars and Scammers I saw an engine on eBay for my VT1100 Honda in April 2024 and contacted Ricks Motorcycle to confirm the 1998 model would fit my 1995 model bike prior to purchasing the engine. I was told the engine would work for my bike by Sara, and I purchased the engine direct without going through eBay (big mistake). Once I received the engine, I delivered it to my mechanic who immediately pulled the spark plugs and found they were severely oil fouled. I contacted Sara and was told by owner (Bill) to run a compression test. My mechanic ran a compression test and leak down and the engine failed both tests. I contacted them and even sent video of leak down test; you could easily hear air blowing out the crankcase in the video. I was then told to prep engine for return, which I did promptly. That was early June 2024. Engine sat in my driveway awaiting freight carrier and now its end of September. I kept calling and leaving messages over several months and nobody returned my calls. In my last brief conversation with Sara in August 2024, she told me they have been trying to switch freight carriers and this is why nobody has been in touch. It's been more than a month since my last conversation and I have tried to call them several more times with no response. Engine is now at the junk yard where it belongs. read more

My boyfriend went here the other day to buy a part. When he got there he was told he needed to order it off E Bay and then he could come in and pick it up but he would have to pay the shipping even though the part was at the shop and so was he. He needed the part so he went on E Bay paid for the part and the shipping and returned to get the part he needed. He was then told he could not pick up the part and he would need to have it shipped to his home. When he was told this he canceled his order through E Bay. He was also informed by a friend then when his shop was mentioned to the people at Rick's that he was told it is on a shop it is just a bodega and yes my boyfriend is Hispanic and that remark seems quite racist to me. Great company, great staff, have saved my ass many times with that magic part that nobody has. The staff is attentive and helpful, and very honest. The earliest review is this yelp page i think actually comes from a misunderstanding of that honesty - they will tell you if they dont have a part in stock, and would have to order it online, allowing you the opportunity to source it yourself. As a mechanically capable and pragmatic person, I appreciate this. and in fact commend them on it. Keep it up guys! I'm sure some other maghical component on one of my bikes will die at some point in the future, and you guys may yet again have to save the day! read more

On August 22nd I ordered a 97 CBR 600 F3 oil pan. I called to confirm it had no cracks and looked good. The girl I talked to said it was perfect which was not so it had cracks all over it. Received it a little while later and put it on my parts shelf. When all my parts came in I put it on my bike not even thinking about checking it because I ORDERED a 97 CBR 600 F3 oil pan. Well it bent the strainer, and prevented oil from going into the engine so Now I am out the money and out a completely rebuilt engine as a result of no oil and a bent strainer. I have since come to find out they pulled this off a 95 CBR 600 which has a totally different oil pan that is not even close to as deep as my original. read more

I've been dealing with 'Rick's', for a little while now. They seem to be very honest,and sincere folks. I have been in this crazy business ( http://motorcycletiresandservice.com ) since opening the shop, on my 21rst birthday, in 1976. It is hard , (and getting harder, and harder), to find people, and places like 'Rick's'. We used to have places like them, back in the 70's, and 80's - In the 'San Francisco Bay Area', but very few remain. People who care about their business, their customers, giving fair prices, and ((NOT)) trying to impress you with their 'superior knowledge' - and accompanying bad attitude. Support these people, be their repeat customer, for, they are a 'dying breed', and when they are gone, (just like certain 'passed on' movie stars), they will not be replaced, by anyone, or anything, even remotely similar. Enjoy them while you can. You can tell your grand kids about places like Rick's, but they probably won't believe you, (given the steady decline of good old fashion 'customer service'). Hi, I had a very rare 95 Kawasaki GPZ 1100. Never saw another one like it in twenty years. It fell over at Ricks, and broke the part the shift lever is on. Would you believe they had that part in stock! They did. Put it on for me while I waited, and charge $40 bucks. Amaziing! read more

Do not use these guys. VERY unprofessional. I purchased a part and was told it was shipped the day I sent the payment. A week later I call for my tracking number only to find out that they did not even have the part I ordered(which they had charged me for). So I told them to cancel my order and refund my money. Here I am 10 days later with neither a part or my money. So again DO NOT USE THESE PRICKS. read more

Horrible service! Short version... I received the wrong part, poor customer service and then had to deal with very rude woman while trying to get the part returned. Long version... I order a pulley for an 06 and received one for an 00-05. I even called them prior to placing the order to verify that the part I was purchasing was the correct part. But hey, mistakes happen. So I contact them to let them know it was wrong. Their attitude from the very beginning was one where I was at fault. They acted like they couldn't have made a mistake and that before they would accept a return, they would have to first pull the original request to see if I had ordered the correct part. To expedite the issue, I provided them a copy of the original request, Then I waited six days for a response. Nothing! Was I being blown off???? After the sixth day, I sent an email saying if I did not heard back I would follow the only recourse available to me which would be to contact the BBB. When I called to follow up, the woman I spoke with was very rude. She chastised me for corresponding through email, and scolded me for "threatening" her because I had stated I would contact BBB if I had to take a loss on this transaction. The woman said they have sent replied emails with shipping labels for me to send the product back, however; I never received them. Interestingly enough, I was able to receive her tacky response email. Hmmm wonder why I can get one email from them but not the other??? I am already out 125.00 for this part, I have to decide whether to spend another 25.00 to ship it back to them and hope they will refund me the 150.00 or just hang on to it and try to sell it on ebay. What a mess! I wish I had never used this company in the first place! read more

Sadly, it appears that Rick's needs business and is willing to falsely threaten someone with rejection for an inspection sticker with the hopes of obtaining shop repair work. I went for a motorcycle sticker today and after a 2 second initial glance, the employee immediately stated that my bike would not pass. When I inquired why, he said the front fork seal is leaking (it's actually weeping and a natural occurrence and certainly not cause for rejection IAW Saf-C 3230.01 Shock Absorbers). I questioned his judgement relative to the problem being bad enough to warrant rejection. He jumped to "dude the seal is blown out" and "it's leaking oil on your front brake and is a safety issue". None of this was true so I explained that there are gray areas and his overly critical subjective judgement is out of the realm of reasonable. He clearly wanted to argue so I left and told him that we were not all born last nite and that I wouldn't be back. The next shop I went to put a sticker on in 4 minutes and said the bike was in great shape. read more
