Buyer Beware, Liars and Scammers I saw an engine on eBay for…read moremy VT1100 Honda in April 2024 and contacted Ricks Motorcycle to confirm the 1998 model would fit my 1995 model bike prior to purchasing the engine. I was told the engine would work for my bike by Sara, and I purchased the engine direct without going through eBay (big mistake). Once I received the engine, I delivered it to my mechanic who immediately pulled the spark plugs and found they were severely oil fouled. I contacted Sara and was told by owner (Bill) to run a compression test. My mechanic ran a compression test and leak down and the engine failed both tests. I contacted them and even sent video of leak down test; you could easily hear air blowing out the crankcase in the video. I was then told to prep engine for return, which I did promptly. That was early June 2024. Engine sat in my driveway awaiting freight carrier and now its end of September. I kept calling and leaving messages over several months and nobody returned my calls. In my last brief conversation with Sara in August 2024, she told me they have been trying to switch freight carriers and this is why nobody has been in touch. It's been more than a month since my last conversation and I have tried to call them several more times with no response. Engine is now at the junk yard where it belongs.

Let me start out by saying, I am the owner, and founder of KC Engineering, in San Francisco…read more We have been in business well over 40 years ( http://motorcycletiresandservuce.com ). We are the oldest Motorcycle Tire, and Service Center, on the W-E-S-T C-O-A-S-T. I myself, have been working on motorcycles for longer than many of Rick's employees have (even) been alive, (since 1968). They sent us some carburetors that were serviced improperly, " by their best 'Technician'. We were insured over, and over again that "the carbs were fine, and ready to be used, and installed on a motorcycle" This was not the case. when we complained, and wanted O-N-L-Y A D-I-S-C-O-U-N-T for what we had paid, $400.00 plus dollars we were told by a 'Serra' : " I'll have to talk to a "him" When we made many different calls to this "Serra", we were told many different things. ("I haven't talked to him", "He didn't get back to me", "Serra's out sick today". When a few months later, we, (I) got hold of the "Serra", and reminded her, we didn't want a R_E-F-U-N-D ONLY A D-I-S-C-O-U-N-T, ( to cover our labor, and parts needed to make carbs 'right).she said "we'll see what we can do". Never did get to talk to the 'mystery' "Him". More than a month went by, when I called back. I finally got a ' man' on the phone. I began to tell him what had happened. But stopped, and asked him if he was the 'boss', manager, or the owner. He responded NO!!. When I asked him what his name is - he told me, "I don't want to tell you", I asked why? he said "because I don't want to". When I quizzed him further,I was told "If you were here I'd kick your a_s. Brave talk to a man in his 60's with a traumatic brain injury, and heart disease, no? I explained to him who I was (in the industry), my vast experience in the motorcycle business - (sometimes called as an 'expert witness') I told him I wasn't going to take this lying down., I'm not just some kid, you can ripoff, and tell to get lost. "No your not a kid, just a middle aged man in a midlife crisis" he said This, I could tell angered him further. But I asked again what's your name? And (in an obvious reference to San Francisco's well known gay community), he responded "whats my name? I'll tell you : it's my d_ _k in your A_ _s. I have not heard back from them for over 2 weeks now. It now looks like I'll have to initiate a (credit card)'Merchant Charge Back', for the entire $400.00+ amount. All I wanted was $100.00 refunded to our credit card. This is not the first time our shop has done business with them, (never had a problem) so they may have lost a paying customer as well - Still haven't heard from the 'owner'. I'll keep yelp informed. Now I've been in the business a long time, AND have lost my temper with customers on occasion. It can't be helped sometimes - but this was bad. I had to take a 'nitro' pill when I hung up. Be very careful with these guys, (If I knew what their "Ace Technician's" name was I'd tell you to avoid this 'person' working on more than a 'donut.'

I have purchased two brand new bikes in under a year from Cycles 128. The dealer was in my new…read morehometown, so I wanted to support them as well as capitalize on the convenience of their proximity to where I live. The first bike was a brand new 2017 Kawasaki Versys X, but it was at their sister dealership in Arlington (Cycles128 doesn't sell Kawasaki). My salesman at the time was Billy, and he was able to have the bike transferred from Arlington to Beverly for me, and I hadn't even put a deposit down on it. yet. This was based on a phone call I had made while on vacation in Costa Rica. Convenient! The whole process was easy, painless, and very relaxed. There was never any pressure or upselling, and it never felt predatory as vehicle sales so often are. Fast forward to just under a year later, and I decided to upgrade to a Suzuki VStrom 650. This time I had the great pleasure of dealing with Ellen Petrilli and Rick Brandano. Yet another chill, great experience. I told them right up front what I was looking for, and with that knowledge, they showed me other alternatives to consider but never discouraging me from my original goal. Their inventory is incredibly vast and a virtual candy store, and I was glad for the other options that were shown to me. I had my heart set on the VStrom, so we got down to business. Worth noting was a little hiccup on Suzuki's part, as their manufacturer website claimed that there were certain accessories included with the bike that tuned out not to be. Not a concern because Rick and C128 were on the case and miraculously got Suzuki to make good on their claim. They didn't have to do that, because most dealerships would predictably claim their hands were tied and just shrug it off. But not these guys. They totally prevailed and saved the day. That I will never forget. The numbers part of the operation was handled by Brad, with whom I had worked with on my prior purchase as well. Another great asset to the company. I now half-expect people to yell "Norm!" when I walk into the place now because I dealt with a lot of people and they're just a warm bunch. Just awesome.

Definitely hands down the worse place to get maintenance done. I dropped my jet ski off on a…read moreSaturday and picked it up on a Tuesday and looks like nothing was done to it.
