I called Banks since they installed the brakes and rotors not long ago and the voicemail says he retired... so I brought it to Nashoba Garage today down the road. The owner told me that it looked like my rear pads and rotors were replaced (my husband's friend did those ones a few months ago) and the front pads were replaced but not the front rotors... so now I'm BS because I have to pay again to have this work done for a second time and done CORRECTLY this time because Banks screwed me over. I'm thankful for Nashoba Garage for letting me know. I think this review means nothing since they are closed anyways, but I just needed to get the word out there because I'm livid and my husband and I are new parents of a 5-month-old and are now wasting our money where we could be buying diapers and formula for our baby.

I don't…read morehappen to live in Ayer, nor do I own a car, but I still know that Mike at My Mechanic is the guy to see, especially if you have a flat tire. Here's how I know: Last Saturday, two friends and I went hiking in the White Mountains. When we got back to our cars, one of us discovered that she had a flat. As we commenced to change the flat, we found that the rust on the cage enclosing the spare under the car made it impossible for us to get it down, plus the lug nuts on the flat tire were so stuck we couldn't make them budge. Yikes! Now what?! Luckily for us, a friendly fellow hiker saw us struggling and offered to help us out. Our Good Samaritan was Mike from My Mechanic! Mike not only got the spare down, and wrested the lug nuts free (with the help of a big, strong friend of his), but--when he discovered that the pressure in the spare was too low to be safe for my friend to drive on--he threw the spare in the back of his pick-up, drove to the nearest gas station (which wasn't nearby at all!), filled it with air, came back, and finished changing the flat! Amazing!! We might have waited hours for a tow truck, or who knows how else the day would have ended? But thanks to Mike, my friend got home safely and our beautiful September day of hiking in the mountains had a happy ending. THANK YOU, MIKE! And thanks to your family, too, for keeping us company while you saved the day. For the heck of it I got a quote at a shop near where I used to live in NH, they wanted close to $700 to fix the problem. Then a I read about Cowgill. Stopped by after work and explained that I didn't need a top of the line CC in my old car; all I wanted was to pass the emissions test and get an inspection sticker. Dropped my car off on a Thursday night. Got a call on Friday with a quote for $450; this included labor and diagnostic. Very reasonable. Job was done that day before close. Final cost, with inspection, was under $500. Very happy. Also, the mechanics were helpful, and I didn't feel like they were out to screw me. Also, I think they might have fixed an unrelated rattling under the hood. I haven't noticed the sound since I picked up the car!

I had my car leaking oil from bottom, with red check engine light, I went to another mechanic out side, when I observed this problem (I was outside the city at that time). That guy told me it would take $500 to fix it & get the check engine off. Donny fixed it & charged me $50 bucks. Many times, when I feel 'this repair probably would cost a big money', Donny fixes quick & doesn't even charge any money (if they are quick fixes of 5-10 minutes) or charges way lesser than what my expectation is (as said, he is very honest). He is very knowledgeable in his field (worked as service manager for a dealership for 10+ years). He identifies the problem way quicker than anyone else I saw so far & charges only for his lesser time, so his cost is cheaper than others. Also he doesn't upsell & does exactly what's needed for the problem to be solved. I will give 10 stars out of 5 to Donny. He's an example of how one should do business honestly. Never found a mechanic like this in 10 years of my US stay. Another plus here is the full service gas station, which is priced on par with other local gas stations (which are self service though). I always get my gas filled here (with the luxury of without getting down in the cold weather).
