Where do I start with this place? Yesterday morning was my first visit, and before stopping in, I called to ask about vegan options. To my surprise, I found out the entire restaurant is 100% vegan! As someone who was working in the area and thought there weren't many vegan choices around, this was an exciting discovery. For breakfast, I couldn't decide between my usual go-to, a breakfast burrito, or chilaquiles, one of my all-time favorites. The woman helping me recommended the chilaquiles and asked if I preferred spicy or mild. I chose spicy and paired it with a lemon cucumber chia agua fresca. The service was immediately unique. I wasn't asked for my name or given a table number, just told to sit wherever I'd like. Somehow, the staff knew exactly where everything belonged. A gentleman brought my drink, and by the time I returned from the restroom, my food was already waiting for me. The presentation was beautiful. The plate was loaded with rice, beans, chips, cheese, onions, bell peppers, and extra onions on the side. How did they know I loved onions enough to have a full size? The salsa was absolutely perfect. In fact, I thought about that meal for the rest of the day. The food felt wholesome, fresh, and made with care. The portions are huge, especially considering the very reasonable prices. And as a vegan, finding flavorful beans that don't leave you regretting your choices later is always a win! The customer service deserves special recognition. Everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was packed when I arrived, yet everything ran smoothly. The dining room and bathrooms were spotless, and the whole place felt like a beloved local gem. The food was so memorable that I came back the very next day for dinner before heading home. Once again, I asked for recommendations. I accidentally ordered the wrong item and realized it a few minutes later. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, something that's unfortunately rare these days. This time, I ordered the potato enchiladas and borracho fajitas, plus a re-chicken taco as a snack for the drive. Everything was delicious. I also have to recommend the aguas frescas. The lemon cucumber chia was fantastic, and the watermelon agua fresca I tried on my second visit was perfect for the heat. Also they make random sweets during the week; such as pastries, cookies, etc. When a restaurant makes you come back the very next day, you know they're doing something right. Great food, generous portions, excellent prices, wonderful people, and a fully 100% vegan menu (that isn't all soy based). We brought our friend here and had a great dining experience, topped by meeting Monica, who told us that Borreguitas has been serving the Pomona community for EIGHT years and is expanding this summer to have a cafe so they can bake treats! Came for lunch, parked around the corner on the street, super friendly and helpful staff. HUGE PORTIONS. My sister always orders Pozole when it's on offer, and loved it. I devoured my chilaquiles with papas chorizo & diablo salsa which had a good burn and cooled my scalp. Best vegan tacos ever! I've been here several times and it's always hands down the best experience. Service is kind, fast, and attentive. They'll remember you, and they'll make sure to treat you like family. So much seating and even on a busy day the line moves very fast. Some friends and I spent an afternoon together working on a project together and we were famished. One among us is a vegan so she suggested this place. The ambiance reminded me of walk- in restaurants you'd find in Mexico - super casual, development of vibe in progress. You order first, then seat yourself. None of this is bad - it is just how it is and it works. Staff are friendly and service takes a little long but that's because food and drink are prepared in the moment. The food was delicious!! You would not know that any of their food is vegan and the owners work hard to preserve authentic Mexican food flavors. The rice was flavorful and was more like sopita - a little wet, but good. Beans were refried. Salsas were excellent - I recommend the green, although the red looked tasty! I opted for three different flavors on my hard shell tacos - just in case I don't make it back out this way. Lol!! I wanted to guarantee that I tried as many flavor profiles as possible. Nopal / papa taco - you could actually taste the nopal flavor and the papas were cubed - not mashed. Excellent!! Asada - also excellent!! I couldn't tell it wasn't actual meat. Al pastor - equally good!! The shells were super thin - almost like tortilla chips texture, but didn't taste like maiz...they didn't sit heavy at all. I suppose this is the bonus of eating vegan ... you don't get that super full feeling afterwards. I am definitely curious about the vegan ceviches and would try that and / or the vegan pozole. I can't say enough amazing things about this place! My first compliment is that we're packed on a Sunday afternoon, not an empty seat in the building. During this particular visit I was craving their potatoes + soyrizo burrito with beans and cheese. It's sooo delicious and flavorful and tastes homemade. They pair it with 2 salsa options, a dark red tomatillo salsa and a green salsa, which is more mild. Both are delicious but I prefer the dark red salsa. When you walk in the traditional Mexican style decor greets you right away and so do the smiles of the staff. I tried their tacos in person and man are they GOOD! The location is more inland from the freeway and on the corner of a neighborhood. Service in person is prompt and quick where you order at the counter and seat yourself. Restaurant is clean and tidy. My personal favorite was the jackfruit birria w/ pineapple salsa and their soy carne asada. I tried all the proteins too but the one addicting item on the menu is their papas dorados (the crunchy potato tacos). My intent was to find a great spot to cater a taco bar lunch for 80 people. I worked with Alejandra to figure out the amount I needed and work out the pricing. I was very satisfied with the level of professionalism and promptness of their service. The taco bar was a hit and super delicious. Many of my guests were impressed with not only the quantity of the food but also the quality and flavor! Many preferred not to use the salsa because the tacos were always so flavorful and juicy. In the future I'd love to have them come out with the food truck for freshest taco experience. Came here in the afternoon for a late lunch with my family (3 adults, one toddler, one baby) - food was great with something for everyone, even my picky toddler! Stars were the chips and guac, the rice and beans, the street tacos, and really everything! Lots of flavor. The iced coffee is also delicious, don't skip the drinks. We got the chips and guac, fried potato tacos, quesabirria, and al pastor burrito. The flavors were amazing! For everything to be vegan, the texture of the "meats" were on point. The chips and guac were so fresh that my group ordered another round! Service: 10/10! They are a woman and family-owned small business and they were so awesome. Amongst all the great options you have along Garey Ave for Mexican food, Borreguitas stands out not just for being a vegan restaurant, but for being a great one with a strong menu with stronger roots in the Pomona community. We had the vegan pazole, and my wife had a variety of tacos (soy based al pastor and asada) while I had a breakfast burrito filled with hash brown, tofu, and vegan cheese. I'm a sucker for any great breakfast burrito so naturally that was my favorite item. The best I can describe it is it's like a really awesome scrambled egg and and cheese burrito and I think even if you didn't know what it was really made of, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference! The pazole was perfect for me as well - a light broth simmering with all the flavors of its ingredients that include mushrooms, spinach, red salsa, and other great veggies. Service here is great and the restaurant is spacious - we were always asked about how we enjoyed the food. The restaurant also has pamphlets for community resources at its front desk and you can tell the people who run the restaurant really care about what goes on in Pomona. We will definitely be coming back to Borreguitas to try more of its awesome menu! read more

I ordered a burrito and was fully prepared for a solid plant-based meal, but what I got was something way beyond that. It was flavorful, filling, and so good I had to pause halfway through and double check that it was actually vegan. No meat, no dairy, just pure magic wrapped in a tortilla. The seasoning was spot on, the textures were perfect, and honestly, I would put it up against any burrito, vegan or not. The space is casual and inviting, and the staff was friendly and clearly proud of what they serve. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food, and it shows in every bite. Honestly where do I start. I love the ladies and (gentleman) of borreguitas. It literally feels like going home when I come here. Our commute is about an hour and 45 to 2 hrs to get here. I should've taken photos of our food but we got straight to work lol. Honestly I love this place soooo much. It is so incredibly special. We finally made it to taco Tuesday. Our loves from here is yucca chicharon plate with nopales and beans, repollo tacos, and Birria consume plate with refried beans and rice. Honorable mention the ceviche for something fresh on a hot day. We also love love love the Jamaica with guava and all the of cookies. The baking sis never misses! The biscoff, Oreo, and peanut butter cup cookie. I am not a big dessert girl but boy is their cookies the best vegan cookies ever! We love that it's a one shop stop from beverages, main dishes, and dessert. I wish they were closer to me but we make the trip on average once a month or so. They're so worth it! We always wait patiently for our yummy food. Also, everything comes out fresh and hot which I love!!! We love their social media page and posts. They're hilarious lol. I want to start by saying the food here is consistently fantastic flavorful, comforting, and always spot-on. The restaurant is clean and has a welcoming vibe, which is why I've happily come back many times. However, today's visit was really disappointing. My sister and I placed our order (around $52 worth of food, plus her chilaquiles) and sat down to wait. We watched several customers who arrived after us receive their orders and leave, while ours never came out. After about 25 minutes my sister asked about it, and was told it would be right out. Another 15 minutes passed, and when she checked again, the woman at the counter (not the mom she is always wonderful) responded rudely said they were "packing it up." By the time we finally received our order nearly 40 minutes later we got home only to realize there were no salsas included. Tacos and burritos with no salsa is definitely a letdown. What bothered me most wasn't just the delay, but the fact that there was no apology or explanation. Based on what we saw bags were being left on the counter and a man rushing out with multiple bags I honestly think our order may have been taken by him. The process just felt disorganized. Customer service is friendly, and the staff is welcoming, but the wait time is rough. Service is very slow, so this is not a place you want to hit up if you're on a lunch break or in a hurry. One of the biggest downsides is the location parking is terrible and can be a hassle, which just adds to the overall inconvenience. Overall, this place is okay. If you're vegan or specifically looking for plant-based Mexican food, it's worth trying at least once. The most amazing, authentic Mexican food, all completely vegan! It's all casera style, not some "healthy" or modernized take on Mexican food, this is the real deal. The tacos are so good and I love the enchiladas. The agua frescas are huge and so good. If you are a vegan Mexican and you miss your mom/grandma's cooking come here. They have incredible meal deals: $12 torta & coffee on Mondays, $1.50 tacos Tuesdays, $1 tacos Friday & Saturday night. I'm honestly not sure who Borreguitas Bar Express thinks they are -- serving mole tamales so good they should come with a warning label. I walked in expecting something casual and forgettable, and instead, I found myself emotionally attached to a plate of food. The mole? Outrageously smooth, rich, and perfectly spiced -- it's like someone's abuela decided to show off. And the tamales? Unnecessarily perfect. Soft, fluffy, and probably made with some sort of sorcery. Listen, I am PICKY when it comes to pozole, and this one REALLY hit the spot. While I originally came in craving their menudo (I didn't realize they only have it some days and they run out quick) they were quickly able to recommend this dish instead and I'm so glad they did.
