Lycheetini with an Thai orchid
Carleta J.

Came here for a quick meetup with a friend. We had appetizers for dinner, sat at the bar but it was great. Our bartender was Kay, she was attentive, funny and made the best Lychee Martini's (Lycheetini) with a Thai orchid. Had a blast with Kay. She made the night enjoyable and fun, it's low key with a nice ambiance.

Khao man gai (crispy chicken thigh w/ginger jasmine rice and sweet chili sauce)

Good food and fast service. The bartender Kay was nice and attentive. The branzino was perfect and the mashup of jasmine rice with ginger really complimented the crispy chicken thighs!

I have visited Born Thai many times, but my last experience guaranteed that I will not be returning. I ordered a Thai iced tea at the server's suggestion, not realizing it contained milk. I took a few sips and did not like it, and the untouched drink sat on my table through my entire meal. Not once did anyone check in about it or acknowledge that it had been untouched. Even after I ordered a soda, the original drink remained on the table without a single mention. When I received the bill, I politely asked if the Thai iced tea could be removed. The staff said they needed to check with the manager. This resulted in a phone call that lasted well over five minutes, which felt unnecessary for something so simple. The final answer was that they were not allowed to remove an item simply because a customer did not like it. They were willing to remove a $3 soda, but not the item that remained completely full. Good restaurants value customer experience. I ordered an appetizer, an entrée, and side, and the drink was left completely untouched. This should have been an easy exception. Instead, it was handled with indifference and the response lacked care, basic hospitality, and felt very dismissive. I paid the full bill and left. Because most of the customers here are people of color, I also want to note that the lack of effort, flexibility, or consideration felt especially disappointing. I am sharing this so other diners do not feel that their money or presence is not valued. I will not be returning.

We were in the neighborhood since we were going to catch a show at Barclays. Looking for places to eat this came up & glad we gave it a try, drinks Thai iced tea , was very good. Appetizers we tried the Curry puff, light crispy, nice dipping sauce they were very tasty, love me a good curry puff. Main dishes we tried, Garlic chicken & See-ew noodles w beef, both were very good dishes, nice flavor to meats, good noodles & beef very good. Also tried the Basil Fried rice & the Ginger sauce w meat, both very good. Small location, dimly lit , service was good & prices were not bad, this was a nice find for a good dinner option before a show.

We had a delicious time here. Went to the Barclays Center for a concert but we decided to have dinner and drinks here before the show. The drinks were delicious. The food was very tasty and had good portion size. Everything tasted freshly made. We also didn't have to wait too long for our food. Servers were kind. I will definitely come her again when I'm the area. A must t try for Thai food in the downtown Brooklyn area. We ordered various drinks from the menu. For appetizers we had chicken curry puffs, wings, and shrimp roll. For our entrees we had crab fried rice and Thai fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp were jumbo and the crab meat was real large pieces of lump crab. This restaurant uses quality ingredients and is not stingy with the portions. The venue is small so if you're considering going with a large group I would recommend calling ahead or making a reservation.

Chicken PAD THAI and Thai tea

I've eaten at Born any times and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and flavorful. The presentation of the food is eye catching. The hosts and servers are welcoming, courteous and helpful with choosing menu items. The ambiance has a warm modern feel. My friend and I ordered Pad Thai. I had chicken and he had shrimp. Our favorite desert is mango sticky rice.

My favorite place Brooklyn spot for Pad Thai. I stopped in here.. again lol. This time on a Sunday afternoon as I was in the neighborhood and in the mood for some good Thai food. The atmosphere and service are also great. I opted for the chicken pad Thai my boyfriend opted for the chicken pad Thai and we shared a side of brown rice.. I will definitely be back

Fried fish !

The ambiance to the food to the amazing drinks. 10/10 I would recommend if you are in the city ! The service is fast and the food/ drinks come out amazingly presented !

THAI FRIED RICE WITH SHRIMP

I may need to give Born Thai another try as I had a mixed experience. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us quickly. The lychee sweet tea was a bit too concentrated for my liking but if you are really into sweet tea, you would probably like it. The chicken satay was the star of the night! I've had it from other restaurants before but this one was flavor packed and I appreciated that they put the sauces on the side. I ordered the shrimp Thai fried rice and it was good but could have used more flavor. I actually didn't taste any seasoning on the shrimp but will say they give you a good amount and they are jumbo. My friend ordered the Pork Krapow and really loved it. I tried it and it was flavor packed, a bit spicy but they do warn you of that. The waiter was very attentive and made sure your water cup was always full. It is a smaller restaurant but nice neighborhood feel and has a stocked bar. I would go again but order a different entree.

Our group of 4 started with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a few appetizers to share, namely: Som tum papaya salad and dumplings curry. For the main entree, my eyes caught the attention of clay pot mix-fried rice with shrimp, chicken, sweet sausage, and my partner chose shrimp pad thai. Nothing really stood out with the dishes; I found it to be a bit Americanized, having eaten in so many Thai restaurants around New York City. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here; our food came in timely fashion, and the customer service is good as well, but it's probably not your place if you are seeking a more authentic Thai-style cooking.

PLEASE get the mango stick rice cocktail omg it was gone in like 5 sips because it was so good. The tuna ceviche was so refreshing and the sauce had a little kick to it which I absolutely loved! It was like a sprinkle of Thai on a classic tuna ceviche. Note the taro chips are a little thicker than a typical chip! The pork jowl wasn't as crispy as I expected but it was still flavorful and the portion size was huge, considering how it was an appetizer. We got pineapple lychee crispy duck, crab fried rice, and kana crispy pork over rice as our entree. ALL WERE SO GOOD! The curry for the pineapple lychee crispy duck was so creamy and flavorful, with the duck portion being huge and being the perfect texture. I loved that it was crispy and didn't get soggy fast in the curry. The crab fried rice was top tier as there were SO MANY HUGE CRAB PIECES!! You can definitely tell that it had flavors of seafood/crab.. they did not skimp out! And the kana crispy pork over rice was huge portion as well, but note that it was a big strong/saltier than the other dishes. For dessert, the pandan coconut pudding custard was SO yummy. It was warm and so flavorful and creamy!! I fell in love with Brooklyn even more after coming here. Highly recommend!!

I feel differently about Hungry Thirsty. At this point I've been to countless Thai restaurants, and for the most part they've all been fantastic. Compared to all those fantastic meals the flavors here still stand out and I'm excited to read that they're expanding with additional locations. They have a phenomenal and lengthy beer selection, which is fun because it complements the spicy fried dishes quite well. The fried branzino and shrimp and squid in salted duck yolk were very tasty with white rice but the dish that lit up my taste buds was the Kai Jeow Pu- colossal crab omelette. The egg was deep fried in an aromatic oil and filled with fresh, large pieces of crab and served with a phenomenal zesty sauce. The place is tiny and no frills, and our server chafed at my partner for pronouncing a beer on their menu incorrectly, which just added to the experience. I loved it here!

I got massaman curry with chicken and spring roll, and my friend got the eggplant basil with a spring roll. The portion is on the smaller side, though I didn't mind because I'm working to control my portions. For the price, it's also fair. Unfortunately, I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. Most of the dishes, especially the sauces, they were extremely salty! - Beef Tartare "Dine-In Exclusive" -- I'd skip this one. The beef was very dry, and it came with taro chips and greens but no sauce to tie everything together. Definitely not what I expected from a tartare. - Enoki Bloom -- Crispy, perfectly fried enoki mushrooms that I actually enjoyed. The only downside was that it was also very salty. The creamy green sauce on the side helped balance it out. - Crying Tiger -- Another skip for me. The steak was dry, tough and chewy, and the meat itself was pretty bland. The sauce had plenty of flavor, but again, it was way too salty. - Pork Jowl -- Probably my favorite dish of the meal. It was perfectly grilled, tender and flavorful. I'd skip the sauce though since the pork was already delicious on its own. - Crab Curry -- Unfortunately, another very salty dish. I honestly don't know how it got this salty. I was expecting more of the spicy or slightly sweet flavors you normally get from a Thai curry, but the salt completely took over. Very disappointing!!! - Thai Iced Tea -- This was actually really good. Creamy, rich and not overly sweet. The menu changes seasonally, so unfortunately, some of the dishes I had seen online were no longer available when I went.
