I really liked the kimchi pancake with bacon I got the other day, I found it odd that there was no dipping sauce after I brought it back to work, but it didn't really need it. And today I got the beef curry, for the amount of curry you got there was not very much rice, so the balance was really off. The beef curry flavor was great, and I really liked the variety of vegetables they put in without making it taste odd, so it's not just meat and potato. But there was a lot of sauce and not much meat and veggies, I hope they work out the balance of that along with the rice proportion in the future. Having finally opened, BopBox brings Korean Asian food to the Georgetown area that is starting to become more trendy these days. If you need a good selections of vegetarian or vegan options, can't go wrong with Korean food whose known for kimchi style options that add both flavor and health to your meal. Today was my first time trying Korean food and BOPBOX provided an amazing introduction! I can't wait to eat here again. Each of the items we ordered had full, well rounded flavors. The quantity and quality of each dish made our order worth the slightly high for a weeknight price point. My husband and I started with the kimchi pancake which was excellent. The brine amount in the batter could be reduced some to cut the saltiness but otherwise it was wonderful. Next we had the vegetarian kimchi fried rice. It was *chef's kiss* perfect! The tofu included in the dish was well marinated and beautifully pan seared. We purchased one of each sauce option to try with our fried rice and our favorites were the black garlic vinaigrette and the hot bop sauce. My husband also enjoyed the gluten free ginger tahini. Our second entree was the jap chae bop with tofu. The noodles were so tasty with the side of black rice. I appreciated having higher antioxidant black rice as an option. We loved having enough tofu to pair with our noodles and rice. Our meal was fantastic from beginning to end and the serving sizes were more than enough for both of us to make two meals of it. My only issue is how small this place is. When we entered the restaurant a huge party took most of the seats. There were 2 other seats taken. And we sat in the window seat, which I didn't mind. But as we were observing, there were customers that walked in and walked right out because no seats available. I totally blame it on the big crowd that couldn't move their party to the nearby bars. Hmm how did this place got a 4 something rating... we were in the area and decided to grab some takeout. This place stood out bc apparently you can order takeout through yelp/grubhub, if you want to save some in store waiting time. We placed our order through yelp. Although we were already billed for our order, the restaurant told hubby that their grubhub is not working, and if he wants food, he will need to place the order (and pay) again at the restaurant. This doesn't make much sense. You can't just take the money and tell your customers that they're not getting their food due to some mysterious broken system. I guess poor hubby should have called grubhub right there to figure out what's going on, but for some reason, he actually decided to pay again for the same order, maybe bc he didn't want me to wait too long... so in total we paid close to $70 for two rice bowls, probably the most expensive rice bowl I've ever had... and guess what, they're not good, in fact, barely edible. My smoky something bowl was indeed smoky, from the very dry and even more burnt chicken pieces that were randomly tossed on top of a sad rice bedding (should have taken some pics of these pricy carbonized chicken before I throw them away lol).
