I am one of those people that rely on reviews, but often do not write them... But this place deserves 10 stars if it was an option. The food here is unreal and while the owner is the nicest guy he is also an amazing host. We walked in and he immediately greeted us as if we've been friends forever, walked us through his history and offered us a taste of just about everything before we bought anything. AMAZING! Stopped in on a whim on a Sunday afternoon and the owner was there, zealously endorsing his pasties and going through the trouble of explaining the ingredients and process. This place is special and I don't mean special for Kenwood or even Cincinnati...nope, it's good enough to compete with the bakeries I have been to in Montreal, New York City, Chicago and San Francisco!!! Okay so I was waiting in the parking lot for my boyfriend to get out of Cincinnati Bell and saw so many people coming in and out of this place. I got out of the car and walked in just to see what they had. The man who appeared to be the owner said he didn't need us to buy anything but to at least try the kouigan amann. It was amazing. Went on a Saturday morning and it was pretty busy. Had to wait in line for a few but it was worth it. When it is your turn they walk you down the line of all the tasty goods and you just let them know what you want. They had a very nice selection of items. Everything is outrageously delicious - you feel like you are in Europe sampling the most authentic pastries ever. I also cannot say enough about the customer service. I like consider myself a purveyor of the pastry arts. That being said, I'm not sure why this place has so many 5 star ratings?? It's a no frills shop which I like because it means all they do is focus on their craft. When I went there may have only been maybe 8 different items to choose from, perhaps a Friday afternoon is the wrong time to come? I'm okay with you only offering 8 items but if you do, it should be incredible. It was good, but not life changing as I have heard from so many. When I went I ordered a loaf of challah bread and a cherry Danish. The bread was okay and the Danish breading part was quite good but the filling was similar to what could be found in a can of store bought cherry filling. I'm willing to give it another try. The price point is very reasonable. Maybe I bought the wrong thing? It's not bad but I didn't get that unicorn moment when I bit into it and you have that moment where the sun collides into the moon, the angels sing, and heavens open up to reveal cosmic deliciousness. While this may be an outrageous standard, I actually have found bakeries and Cincinnati that have brought me this moment. This pastry shop didn't but I'm willing to give it a try again read more

IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I could have eaten more!! Everything was super fresh, flakey and amazing! Our boys especially loved the kouign -amann and the chocolate croissant! The picture shows all that's left of a cherry Danish (perfectly not too sweet), a coconut macaroon (wow) a ham and cheese croissant (crunchy, flakey, tasty and just yum) and I just ordered two lemon bars which are still a tad warm and just out of this world.
